I did my homework in terms of solar panels deciding that I wanted to buy (not lease), wanted microinverters (not string inverters), and was interested in a back-up battery system. I vetted several companies and found Pederson Dean to be one of the top companies that met my criteria. So I set up an appointment at my house, met with their representative (Alex) at my home and was impressed with their product(s), pricing and overall project workflow. As I had already installed a CertainTweed Landmark TL Moire Black roof last summer, the ongoing integrity of the roof following installation of the panels was a key concern. I was told that I would have a 25 year warranty on the section(s) of the roof where the panels were installed. This type of guarantee was important given that I had a 20 year transferable warranty from the roofing contractor, and a lifetime transferable warranty from CertainTweed. Thus, I felt 25 year coverage from PD would be reasonable and fair. However, when I looked over the contract, it indicated that unless PD had installed the roof, the max warranty would be 15 years. When I inquired, I was told this is just the way it is and to please consider the PD value proposition. In reality what they were offering me was a de-value proposition as the installation of solar panels means "penetration" of the roof and would invalidate my existing warranties. In addition, this lack of warranty would inevitably become a liability and issue when I tried to sell my house. So I am not sure if I was intentionally misled, but I do know that it makes no business sense for me to install a system that would void my roof warranties and not have coverage for problems after 15 years. I am certainly also nonplussed why a company, PD or otherwise, would from their business perspective think this is a great value proposition.

Called them after seeing a special offer on an infomercial. I've had solar panels for over 15 years, which I installed myself, so I'm probably more informed on what I needed vs. what they were trying to sell. To my pleasant surprise, the package that the sales rep put together was in line with what I wanted. Since this was in addition to the existing panels, which already occupied the prime roof area, the planning and layout was probably more challenging than a standard job. Since PD is a big organization, sales, planning and permitting, and installation were all handled by different departments, but we had a single coordinator that was in communication with us by phone and email as we went through each stage. They were great in getting through the planning and approvals, especially with getting the information for our HOA and interfacing with PG&E. The main installation of the panels and wiring was completed in less than a day! (It took me several days to install my first system, 15 years ago.) After a couple of quick returns to install an additional ground rod and install the monitoring interface, we were done. The improvements in the panels and supporting electronics over the last 15 years is impressive. One of the key factors in deciding to add the extra panels was the low-interest financing. With a 12-year loan, the loan payment is essentially offset by the reduced electricity bill (since it's adding to my exiting system, the savings aren't as great as a new install), but I know that these panels can keep producing way past the last loan payment. But, the main reason I added the panels was to cut down on fossil power. I don't consider myself a tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination, but if I can help slow the meltdown of the planet, even a little, without any dollars out of my pocket, and eventually same some bucks in the process, why not?

Everybody I dealt with at PetersenDean was very courteous and professional. The ones I can name are: Joe Brodnik, Sahar Nessari, Linda Nguyen. The price and warranty were the best of the four quotes I received. The whole process was very smooth and I haven't had any problems with the system. I'm very glad I chose them. They have a project status page that provided clear information at every stage. When I emailed or called, they responded within 24 hours. I contacted them based on customer reviews and their warranty policy. The salesman was low key and honest. He made it clear that there was a waiting list for installation so I knew it would take a few months. In the end, it was faster than I expected. They provided clear written plans and handled the city inspection completely. The connection to PG&E quickly followed. I highly recommend them. I have two important notes: - Be sure to get a clear picture of the schedule. It's complicated and they may have a waiting list. - The initial quote on the phone was for a much bigger system than they were able to install. They can only tell so much from a satellite image of the roof. Their on-site inspection showed that my roof was more complicated and not ideal for solar. The quote was adjusted down for a smaller system. I understood that they were oversizing the system, so I wan't surprised. Your roof may be simpler, but beware that this can happen.

We have a roof in need of replacement. They patched a particularly bad area a couple of times?

Left a voicemail aboout a leaking roof. They called back and sent a roofer to take a look and provide an estimate. The roofer arrived early morning and recommended replacing some shingles and said he'd be right back with a plastic tarp to cover up the leak until they could schedule something. Didn't hear back from them and couldn't get any information after calling a few times until I gave up. I was shopping around for quotes for replacing the roof when the weather is drier but I've lost faith in them after this experience.

I contracted with Petersen Dean (Solar World) for my solar installation. I purchased the system outright, rather than leasing (more cost effective). They seem to have a good product and an excellent warranty. Price was very reasonable and in line with others I got bids from. Everything went smoothly, I didn't like the first panel layout, so they redid it to my satisfaction. Installation was done in one day. They coordinated the permits with the city and the PG&E connnection. I am very happy with my solar and am already saving money on electricity.

Peterson Dean replaced the roof on my house. The estimator was professional and friendly. I was not present during the work. When I went up on the roof later, I was impressed. It looked beautiful, and my skylights were well protected from water runoff, which is what I requested. I'd recommend them, and I'd use them again.

They're a huge solar company. They're national. We came in contact with them through advertising, homework and research. They advertise on TV. They do solar plus roofing. It cost us a lot of money. They're expensive. They were very professional. We were very pleased with their service. They're reliable, honest and professional. They're the best.

Their Solar prices are extremely competitive. That is one of the main reasons we went with them. They had a pretty large staff that came. Very good dedicated team that came out and did the work.

I think they're pretty good. They're not the quickest about getting back about stuff but every little issue that I had, they fixed it and made it right, without any problems and without charging me any more. They stand behind their work. When they come to work, they do everything really fast, which is nice. The roof looks good and it hasn't leaked so far.

It was good. I have recommended them. They did a good job at a reasonable price. I had no problem with them.

It was great! They were prompt and I had million questions for them that they all answered efficiently. They got the job done on a decent time scale.

PetersenDean did both my roof and solar (I opted to finance both). The roofing process was flawless and the quality of work exceptional. The solar process wasn't quite as smooth due to a miscommunication and hangup following the installation. However, PetersenDean made it right and therefore has earned my hard-to-achieve 5-star rating. Shout-outs to everyone who made it happen. On the roofing side: Chris M, Julio C, and Stacy H. On the solar side: Steve H, Javier C, Melanie C, and Chris N. My roof is beautiful and my solar is crankin'. I would definitely recommend PetersenDean to others.

The process looked pretty well; except for, they changed the project managers three or four times. Some information was lost. As far as, the installation & everything and the operation of everything that went really well. Some contractors did a really good work. They did a really good job. We are enjoying our bill as it comes to our electrical and it cost us less money. They changed the project managers so many times and the last project manager didn't bother to read the stuff that was in the contract. We thought that we were all done, but he said no we still had things. Everybody else was really responsive. They were friendly and helpful.

Very professional during the entire project, from providing the estimate consultation to the completion of the project. They were punctual, quick in response time when questions or concerns were posed. What I appreciate the most is the availability of their personnel in responding to my inquiries even months after the work has been completed.

I had mentioned in a previous evaluation that chose PetersenDean because they were not trying to push a lease program as most other companies are. |What I discovered is that, even though I was specific about my preference to purchase a system most other companies would try to convince me that I would be better of with a lease. While the lease is a good fit for many, it was not for me. I calculated (based on my past history) that a 2.25kw system was about right. When I spoke to other companies who wanted to lease a system, they wanted to double the size of the system to 45kw. This would have made a jungle of solar panels on my roof. I knew from my research that a resident can only sell the amount of power back to the power company that would equate to their past usage history. The companies that install leased systems are not restricted to that rule so they have an incentive maximize the roof space for there profits. The person that go into a lease does sell power back to the power company. They are compensated by having no investment and paying a fixed rate per month for 20 years and are protected from rate increases during that period. There is much more profit in leasing the system. My choice with PetresenDean was a good move for me. The installation took about 6 hours. Having worke as a technician for many years, I recognize quality work when I see it. They were excellent. I payed about $700 more than the original proposal because I wanted to have micro inverters installed because of their greater reliability and longevity.

They have not done it yet and install. We just had an estimate and find the contract. Their sales person that came out was extremely knowledgeable. I think that was a part of the selling point. And also they relook up, had the majority of new building permits in the area, so, they did quite a bit of work locally which we like. They were all very professional, got back to us very quickly, there was no hidden information that I could tell. It is all like there, we could figure it all out what the questions were.

The roof has been in sad condition for awhile, but the past couple of years were the worst. The estimator came out, actually got onto the roof, and then sat down with us to review what he thought was our best plan of action. He listened to our concerns, and answered our questions satisfactorily. We had a written estimate within a week. Once they started it took 2 weeks to complete. They are efficient, caring, and easy to work with. Our roof was more complex then most, due to the steep pitch and the many roof lines of a Victorian home. The crews came in when expected, work tirelessly all day, putting in 8 to 10 hr days & cleaned up everyday before they left. The quality of workmanship and product is very well worth the price. You owe it to yourself to call them for a free estimate.

I am looking to have a 11+ kw Solar system and solar pool heater installed on my home. I have attempted to contact them via there web site multiple times. Now it could be they don't service my area due to my power provider. They have however sent me emails after my first request on their web site asking if I'm interested in a solar system. When I reply with my power service provider and the size sysytem I want I never hear back. I can only assume they are not interested but I ceratainly wont beg any contractor to bid on my project. Project size= my out of pocket estimated around 30 grand. Several other companies are interested and currently submitting bids.2 UPDATE; Oct 21st. were heard their radio ad and called the 800 number. We asked if they serviced are area and Elec service provider. The operator assured us they did and stated one of there reps would call us. Its now the 25th and we have not received a call. I can only assume they don't want or need the work. At this point with their lack of response I would be very hesitant to hire them no matter what their bid was.

The entire process was great from the initial quote and sale, to the inside project management to the on-site supervisor and team who installed the roof. You can tell that the whole team are professionals with an excellent work ethic and quality. And, they did some above and beyond steps as well. For example, when I forgot to put the paperwork outside for the City of Danville inspector, the Project Manager came by again and picked it up to take it to the City. The project took 2 weeks to complete and the team was here every day working diligently until it was complete. I already have so many compliments about how great the roof looks and we got to test it out in the downpour. It worked perfectly ... just as I expected.

The finished work was excellent, however the time needed to complete the project was poor. It was suppose to take two to three days, but the project manager Felipe had multiple excuses... a truck breakdown one day, no trucks available for cleanup, no show on a couple of days, which drew the project out to two weeks, I had to call the scheduling supervisor several times, especially to get the finishing/clean up done.
