 + -1 moreThey call ahead to remind us of our appointments. They are quick, efficient, and relatively inexpensive. The sales people and general staff are all great. Sometimes they do hire day laborers who can't articulate much. I have to call the company so they can send someone to translate. We have had a problem with the owner and his personality. However, the company is good. We really like our technician, Richard. He is retiring, but we always request him because he is a good liaison and takes care of our needs.
Description of Work: They installed a new unit for us. They now do our regular servicing. They come in the Spring to make sure the unit is clean and change filters if needed.

 + -1 moreI had a hard time with that service. No matter what they did, the unit would not work properly. They gave me expensive options to add onto my unit. Finally, one of their technicians came in and said the duct work was not installed properly. I called the company because I was confused. I wanted them to make good of the situation.They said they could not make the repairs because it was not under warranty. I went back and forth with them. We finally agreed that I would pay for parts and they would pay for repairs. They came out and it still did not work properly. I had to hire another company and they finally got the unit to work.

 + -1 moreTheir service has been great. I have been happy with their work. They are courteous, pleasant, and very efficient. They showed up on time and I did not have to wait. They installed the unit in our attic. They had some of their workers on another job. The workers completed that job early so they came to work on my project. They had a lot of workers on our project and I thought they coordinated it very well. I have no complaints with the service. Everything has been running fine since the installation. I received four different estimates. They were the second to the lowest in price. I was impressed with their presentation.
Description of Work: They did a complete re do of my heating and air conditioning system. This included new ducting and a new Amana unit. They maintain the system. They come once a year or every six months depending on our needs.

They did a good job of completing the work in a timely manner considering the time constraints. The two workers were great. The reason we choose them, was because the previous home owners was using their service for heating and air conditioning work.

Cypress had to return with another technician to further diagnose the problem, but that was relatively quick too (our AC had broken during the hottest days). Repair was also quick once the ordered part came in, and we were kept apprised of the part's status. The technicians who came out to the house were professional and friendly. I would definitely use Cypress again.

 + -1 moreSaved for 32 years for a central air conditioner to be comfortable in our retirement years and chose Cypress Heating and Air because they have been in the community many years. The owner came out and gave us an estimate and we decided to proceed. After a month (July heat wave) it was not cooling. Technicians came out and replaced the freon. Freon was needing to be replaced every 3 weeks. The owner came out and blamed our house not being properly insulated and needing dual pane windows or maybe teenagers were stealing the freon to get high. We let him know that he gave us an estimate on an air conditioner that would take care of this 1100 sq foot house. We had many many house calls trying to find out what the problem was and after much distress they had a sales rep for Goodman come out and said replace it. (REALLY??) They needed a sales rep to tell them that. After 4 years the compressor goes out (which was suppose to be under warranty) and they said the warranty covered the compressor but labor was going to be $450. (REALLY????). Finally got smart and said I would see them in small claims court and hung up when I got a return call and said they would do it for $160. I do not even recommend them for the annual checkups because after a check up and everything was hunky dory, something would go out. Just thinking about the experience we had with Cypress has my blood pressure rising. The technicians were always respectful and courteous it was the owner that was a pain.
Description of Work: Installed a new Goodman heating and air condition. Drain for the A/C unit was put on the side of the house and would drain along the stucco. I would tell them it was damaging the stucco and they never moved it.

 + -1 moreI have had an overwhelmingly negative experince with Cypress Air. My previous unit lasted 29 years and was only replaced to achieve greater efficiency and lower noise levels (the new unit is louder). The new one broke after just 4 years. Their prices are extremely high. They don't show up for appointments. The owner is rude and unprofessional. The quality of work is poor. It seems to me that their modus operandi is to sell a substandard unit that that fails prematurely, then charge an inordinate labor fee for repairs.
Description of Work: Over the course of 4 years I have spent over $6,100 on products and services from Cypress Air. My most recent visit was to diagnose the cause of a water leak below the interior unit (about a quart a day) which they installed 4 years ago. My overall experience over the course of 4 years and multiple visits has been negative in all regards. POOR QUALITY WORK: 4 years ago I had an entire new HVAC system installed by them. They delivered a unit with a large dent in it which I rejected. The second unit also had some dings and such, but it was better than the first so I accepted it. Work overall was sloppy with little to no consideration of detail. Lengths of straight PVC tube were pieced together from multiple small pieces, fuse box placement was poorly executed, drain pan pipe was placed on the highest corner of the drain pan (so it did not drain). These were things obvious to a layman. I am not an HVAC expert so I am concerned there are other issues I wouldn't recognize. Once installed the unti was very loud and made the entire house vibrate. I learned the unit they installed was too large for my house. POOR QUALITY PRODUCT: Recently I noticed it was dripping about a quart of water from the bottom of the interior unit daily. They sent a tech who said it was caused by a coil leak (he did not test anything else). They acknowledged this was a premature failure. Although the parts are covered by the warranty, they said this was "a big job" and the cost for labor and freon was $1,300. I was shocked and disappointed and said I would need to think about it. They then immediately said they could do it for $900 as their absolute lowest price. I said I would need to think about it. RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL: The owner called me 10-15 minutes later and asked if I thought the price was unfair. I tried to explain to him that I was just shocked because I had spent so much money for premature failure and was disappointed in their overall service. He cut me off and said "Then why are you doing business with me?" I responded that I wanted to give them a chance to make it right. The call ended with a scheduled appointment with the owner that night to discuss the matter. I left work early for the appointment, but he did not show up or call to cancel. I called Cypress Air the next morning. The owner was rude and unapologetic, but I scheduled another appointment with him. I said I hoped he could help me, thanked him and said goodbye--he ended the call by hanging up on me. I promptly canceled that appointment. I cited the cancelation reasons being rudeness and despite the fact that I had given them many chances to make this right and they had failed repeatedly, so they had lost my business. EXPENSIVE: Their hourly labor charge is $150. 40% more than any other company I called.

 + -1 moreWe just got our first house about 2 months ago. Our heater was working intermittently. We could change the temp. up but it would blow just as if A/C was on. I phoned up Cypress around 9 am on New Years Eve. The repair tech was at my house in a few hours and on time of the estimate. He looked in the attic ran tests and said that the furnace was fine. He gave me advice on how to correct the install of the furnace. Previous homeowner did not follow instructions. Then he ran tests on my thermostat. Found the issue was a bad thermostat. He asked if i wanted a basic thermostat (like we had) or a programmable one. I chose programmable for a small additional cost and he installed it working very carefully to pull everything off the wall related to the old thermostat (including the large metal plate). After installing he showed me how to work the new thermostat. It was thorough, direct, inexpensive, professional and ontime.
Description of Work: Furnace was working intermittently. Thermostat replaced.

The reason we down-graded our overall experience was that we had an issue regarding a creating a crawl space through the new insulation in the attic. The termite company which inspects our home on a yearly basis refused to go into to attic unless a crawl space was created. In this manner we had to go back and forth between Cypress Heating and the termite company as to who would create the crawl space. Cypress Heating finally relented and had a workman create the crawl space. Secondly Cypress was pushing for a yearly contract, and we are not convinced that this is necessary
Description of Work: Installed dnew GMC Furnace. Installed 1200 sq. ft of R30 attic insulation. Installed new attic duct work and new attic fan.

Diagnosis. after contacting factory the next day, was that it was not worth fixing because it did not have newer built in diagnostics. He left, saying that the owner would contact us that afternoon to seek a replacment unit (approx 7K) To this date (Jan 2011), there has been no contact.. Our daughter recommended another licensed HVAC tech that replaced a solenoid and had the unit operatng in several hours..This was worth the $200 that this cost.
Description of Work: Room heater of cassette unit (heat pump) was not working. Cooling was ok. Unit is 17 years old.

 + -1 moreWe got a proposal from them and others. They tried to tell us that it was going to be more then the proposal. I called and complained about the hike in the proposal. They under quoted what the permit would cost. They came out and did the work ok. They left metal all over our yard. they did not clean up after themselves. They did not pass inspection. I had to call and complain again. After complaining what the permit fees were going to be they did give me some money back. I wanted a total price. They kept trying to add more. They said that they ran some tests and things but no one ever did come out to run any tests. They were supposed to fix one thing and they never did end up fixing it. I am not too happy with the company. I would never use them again in the future. I would not recommend them to any body. The guy that did the proposal was super nice, but I did not like the people that came out to do the job. They were saying that I needed things that the guy that did the proposal said I did not need.

 + -1 moreWe were pleased with estimate and installation process, and the service technicians are friendly, professional, and punctual. The workers could have cleaned up a little more and notified me that they would be leaving the old ductwork and equipment on my lawn for a day until someone else picked it up, but that's small potatoes. We were very disappointed that our air conditioning unit was not installed properly. The men who installed the unit followed instructions to the letter, but they did not have the technical knowledge or thoughtfulness to anticipate or recognize problems that were not spelled out directly to them by their supervisor who was not there most of the time. The system would stop working during the heat of the day and it took three return trips by a senior technician to finally identify the issue. I give the overall grade of a "B" -- responsive customer service, knowledgeable technicians, but they should have done it right the first time, and now it's working fine.
Description of Work: Cypress installed an air conditioner, upgraded our heater, and created several ducts and vents. We previously had no A/C and an outdated heating system.

 + -1 moreGlad someone there knew how to diagnose the problem but wish it hadn't taken so long. Nevertheless, overall we are satisfied and would hire them for HVAC repair work again.
Description of Work: Our 12 year old central heater stopped working. It tried to come on when we reset the thermostat but shut down before any air started blowing. A Cypress tech came out and gave a quick diagnostic ($72.50) and did some minor work in our attic where the heater is. That seemed to solve the problem for a few hours but then the problem returned. The tech came out again and determined there were other problems that would cost around a couple of hundred to fix. We said okay and he came back out another day with the parts and installed them. The problem wasn't fixed though. Next a Cypress supervisor with more experience came out and said the control circuit board unit needed replacing and that the previous repair wasn't needed. It took a few days to get the control board in and the supervisor returned to install it and remove the previous unneeded repair ($651). That solved the problem.
