I really liked Gilmore every step of the way. When I called a real live person- and a pleasant person no less- answered right away. She was incredibly helpful and professional and worked with me on scheduling since I have child care issues to work around. On the day of the appointment, the gentleman arrived in a timely fashion and got right to it. He was a terrific combination of friendly, but still very professional and focused on his task. He answered my questions and also offered a few relevant suggestions. I was billed promptly. I am definitely keeping their info on file for any heating or AC issues that come up for me. This was a great experience.
Description of Work: My air conditioner stopped working properly, in fact felt like it was blowing warm air. I called a few places and decided to try Gilmore based on reports here, level of professionalism when I called, price, and the appointment they could give me. Ultimately, I had three problems - two dopey that I'll know to check next time and also a part that needed to be replaced.

They were reasonable on priced and very much on time. They have provided an incredibly quality product. We added a room which we knew we would do. They provided a big enough unit so that when we did add that room, they also put the extra duct work in. It's a very large room and a small crawl space and they were able to cool that room which was incredible. They solved some problems in the installation process that wasn't due to them but the roof construction. They maintain the unit each year. They do a spraying in the fall and get it ready for the summer and winter. They provide a quality service.
Description of Work: Gilmore Air Conditioning installed our AC in 2005 and they were last our for maintenance.

The work was excellent and the technician Skip, arrived right on time. They are very neat and clean when working in your home. Their prices tend to run a little high although this time the price was more reasonable because they gave me a 10% discount. Their work is always excellent. On one occasion when I needed a new water heater on the 4th of July the year before last, they charged me approximately $1800. I realize that it was a holiday and that they do need to charge more for emergency work, but felt they should have given me a little discount in the price to install the water heater since I've been a regular customer for many years. The technician that installed the water heater went on to give me an estimate for a pressure relief valve that seemed a little high so I had a different plumber install the pressure relief valve since the price was lower than Moe quoted. I would have preferred to have Moe install the pressure relief valve if their plumber would have been more reasonable with his price quote. I stress that their work has always been excellent.
Description of Work: They cleared out the main drain and fixed the flushing mechanism on one toilet and cleaned the bathroom drain. I have used them numerous times in the past for plumbing work including repiping my home several years ago and putting in new water heaters on two occasions.

After researching Angie's list, I called Carreon and one other contractor for estimates. I was impressed by the thoroughness of Adalberto, the estimator in determining the sizes of the rooms, windows, etc., to ensure proper sizing of the unit. Adalberto and his crew showed up on the scheduled start date and removed the old furnace and duct work, installed new ducting, furnace, and air conditioner. The work was completed on schedule and on budget. The system passed the HERS test with no problem, and the city inspector also had no issues, so everything was completed. An excellent job by an excellent company.
Description of Work: House was not air conditioned, and we thought it time to change that

I read the reviews on Angie's List about Heating and Air Conditioning contractors and thought I had found a great choice. Unfortunately, my experience felt like it was with a different company than the one reviewed. Mary, the receptionist, was quite nice and my first appointment for an estimate was moved by mutual agreement when she explained that they needed to install air conditioning for a customer in poor health. I scheduled 2 weeks later (I had to go out of town) and the estimator was given a 2 hour window to arrive. He arrived at the very end of the 2-4 pm time frame and spent 8-10 minutes total inside and outside the house. He did not go into the attic to look at our furnace (which the other companies did) and then asked for my email address so that he could email the estimate. He did not ask me any questions, such as how long we would be in the house or whether we were interested in high end or lower end equipment and he did not offer any information about what his company could provide. I was shocked, because the other estimators from other companies asked these kinds of questions to try to find out what replacement would be best for me and my budget. I wrote my email address down on his pad and asked when he would have the estimate available. He said "in about a week and a half," and at that point I told him that we could not wait that long, so he thought about it for a minute and then said "How about tomorrow?" ??? It almost made me laugh, but I was frankly irritated that someone so unprofessional was wasting my time. The next day I received a call from Mary, asking for my email address (go figure). She emailed the bid to me, but it did not identify the brand of equipment and offered only one choice. I expected the estimator to prepare a complete and thorough report and to explain his recommendation(s). I had to call to ask what brand the bid was for--Trane. I called Al Carreon, the President of this company,a few days later to let him know what a poor experience I had had and I can't say that he seemed terribly concerned. That sealed the deal, as who wants to deal with someone who doesn't take customer feedback seriously? The only thing he seemed upset about was that the fellow had told me he would not have the estimate for a week and a half. I received a call 3 weeks latere from someone at Carreon, asking me if I had thought over their proposal and wanted to schedule the installation. I was surprised that Mr.Carreon had not alerted his staff that I had told him I was not interested in pursuing his company's bid.
Description of Work: I wanted an estimate to replace our 25 year old central air conditioner with one with environmentally friendly coolant (a $4000-$5000 job).

So sorry that you were unhappy with all of our service. The technician did say that he knew the size of the furnace by inspecting the AC unit outside, and he checked to make sure that the attic access was adequate in size to accomodate the new unit, so did not need to go into the attic. He was not trouble shooting the heater but called to do a free estimate for new equipment. He did tell me that the client needed the estimate right away so it was rushed out..it often does take a couple of days depending on the situation. We are still a very small company and working on getting better systems for some of out processes. Again apologies for not meeting your expectations. Mary

They never showed up during the scheduled "8am to 10am" window, nor called to state they would not arrive. At 10:30am I called them; they remembered speaking to me but said their new calender system for making appointments was not working properly, and the appointment was dropped. The lady I spoke to was apologetic, so I decided to give them another try. I chose them because they were a super service award winner - lets hope that qualifies them to at least make it to my house when they say they will, or at least give a courtesy call when they can't make it. The closest substitute appointment they could offer me was not the next day, but a week from the time they didn't show up.
Description of Work: I made an appointment to have the technician come to my house to do routine maintenance on the Air Conditioner.

The entire experience was fantastic. I was pretty nervous having found a small amount of water damage in the ceiling of my new home on a Sunday summer evening in L.A. when it had not rained for months. The A/C unit in the attic was the cause. I called Carreon first thing on Monday morning (around 8am) and left a message. I got a call back just after 9:00am (perhaps when they open?), and she said the guys could come out to the house some time after 11am that day. Two other companies I called could not come until 1-4 days after I called and another company has yet to call me back. Around 10:00am, I received another call from Carreon saying they could come out even earlier than expected and they arrived by 10:45am. Mauricio and Mike were very friendly, professional, and immediately went into the attic to look at the problem. They identified the leak as due to improper installation in the past and the drain pan (see above). Mauricio yelled through the ceiling so I could hear (I was standing below the attic in the bedroom) and quickly explained what was wrong, and quoted me the cost of repairs if I wanted it done on the spot. I agreed and Mauricio stayed in the attic and made the repairs, while Mike ran from the attic to the a/c truck getting supplies, tools, etc. It was fixed within 30 minutes or so, then they stayed around for a long enough time to make sure the drain pipe to the exterior of the house was in fact working. During this time, Mauricio explained in more detail what had been done in the repairs. Mike was also nice enough to tell me he saw a dead mouse in the attic, and so I'll now be going up there myself to get rid of that. In sum, this was a professional, efficient experience. A different company I called and have yet to hear from had even "inspected" the A/C unit about a month ago and discovered no problems. I will use Carreon in the future. In addition, they are based in Eagle Rock/Northeast L.A. so they are very close to my house (I live in a nearby neighorhood) and I like hiring people from the neighborhood.
Description of Work: We discovered a leak in our bedroom ceiling, which is below the attic. Part of the A/C is in the attic and we determined this was the cause of the leak. The drain pan and unit in the attic were not level and had been installed incorrectly by the last owner of the home, causing the water to build up in the drain pan and spill over into the attic. They leveled the evaporater and re-strapped the drain pan. They also tested and fixed the primary drain line from the attic to the outside of the house, which had been clogged or was not working due to its incorrect installation/sloping.

Description of Work: During the winter, my air conditioner came on with the heater. I called my usual service provider who was unable to figure out the problem. He disconnected the air conditioner. Carreon fixed the problem and both systems are now working.

Description of Work: Central AC (residential) went out on Monday evening of July 4. Called several repair places on the morning of the 5th, but none could have repair person to my house any sooner than Thursday, and that was always a 'maybe.' Called Carreon. The scheduler was very accommodating. She had a technician who would be able to make it that afternoon. Everything went exactly as stated. Work was done and AC was back working within an hour. Very efficient and professional. Highly recommend Carreon.

Carreon went the extra mile for us when other companies didn?t. As new home owners, we unfortunately discovered that we did not have a return vent/ducting as part of our HVAC system. The heater was pulling in cold, damp air from the crawl space underneath the house in one of the coldest/wettest winters we had had in a while. We were arguing with our home warranty company trying to get them to pay for it since it was a code violation. Carreon was very sympathetic to our plight. We had other HVAC companies come out to look at the problem and they all said it was a code violation but no one was willing or took the time to state it on their estimate. Not only did Carreon give us a free estimate (and they were the lowest price by the way), but they actually contacted a city building inspector to get the code for us and include the proper wording in the estimate for the repair. And they did this knowing that they may not even get the job because the home warranty would probably make us use one of their own companies. To make a long story short, we won the battle with the home warranty company and they let us use Carreon to do the work, which we were very happy about. Mauricio and his assistant were professional, courteous, explained everything they were going to do, worked efficiently and got the job done even sooner than they had estimated. Because the crawl space was small and they could not ?bring? a duct into the space, they had to actually construct the sheet metal ducting in the crawl space! They cleaned up the platform that the furnace sat on as it had started to deteriorate and sealed everything up for safety. The HVAC system now is working great! We were very thankful to have a company like Carreon who really cared and took the extra step for us. Not only are they nice people but they do great work too. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

They did a great job, but they did cause one problem. They went to clean one condenser and blew the condenser Freon all over my brand-new stucco. They agreed that it was their guy who did it. I reduced my invoice to them by the amount after I had the stucco redone. It was kind of irritating. My handyman, who was my eyes and ears, had told them that they should cover the house with plastic as the brand-new stucco would absorb things, and they did not think it was worth it. That was a little disappointing. I like people to plan ahead a little better. However, the furnace and the air conditioner work well. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

I initially wanted a solar fan but they brought to my attention it wasnt as strong and would not have a temperature gauge on it to make it more efficient, and the solar item was more expensive. I initially needed an adjustment on the gauge and they came right out. Love the fan - cools my house in the summetime by quite a bit! Great service and advice! Highly recommend them.

I have been using them for years and they have always done an outstanding job. The last couple of times, I had new guys come and I wanted to check if the management changed. The new guys are good too. They have always done a great job. They have always come out when they said they would and have done a thorough job. Their prices were very reasonable in comparison with other companies that I had tried. I spent less than a $150 on that work. They always do something extra for me. I have always been very pleased with them.

The best thing about this experience with MOE plumbing: the ability to make appointments on-line. But they canceled one appointment and it was hard to get them scheduled to come back after we opened the floor. This was an ok experience with the company.
Description of Work: Plumber used a video camera to diagnose our blockage in the drain line under the slab. To save money, we did the slab cut ourselves and found no break in the line. Eventually, after canceling one appointment, the plumber came back to power flush the line and clean it out.

One of our furnaces was not running and we couldn't get it restarted. A technician from Carreon looked at it and pointed out that this model had been recalled for safety issues (which we confirmed) and couldn't safely be serviced. We asked for an estimate to install a replacement furnace; we also asked for an estimate from another contractor, but the Carreon bid was much lower and was for a unit of at least equal quality. They installed the new furnace on the date we'd scheduled, for the agreed price, and it works great.

Alberto came on time. He was courteous and worked efficiently. He got my heater working and suggested that I get a carbon monoxide detector, which no heating person had ever done before.
Description of Work: Just before Christmas, my wall gas heater had a clogged pipe that was not in the purview of the gas company to unclog. The people at Carreon were crazy busy, but they sent Alberto to check it out, at least. He saw that it would take an hour or more, which couldn't be fit into his schedule for the day, so we made an appointment for him to come back a few days later.

Our overall experience with Al, Mary, Mauricio and the rest of the Carreon family was the best we had experienced in the past 2 years. We've had to contract out many of the services due to our original contractor swindling us. If it wasn't for our experience with Carreon, we would have lost all faith in owning a new home... so big thanks to Carreon for not only a job well-done but our faith restored! To top it all off, they even provided me with a top of the line air filter after they heard I had really bad allergies. What a great group of solid and good, honest people. Fair priced and thoughtful.
Description of Work: Al Carreon, Mary and their staff provided an estimate and fulfillment of a central air and heating system to our new house. We were on a limited budget and were using a FHA rehab loan. Carreon Air and Heating helped us find a solid system that fit our budget and fit the needs of our house. In addition, because our roof was new, they worked with our roofing company to ensure that our warranty was still intact after they installed the entire system and had to cut into our roof.

The technician was careless. He ripped out the old thermostat and removed paint and plaster (4 inches by 5 inches) that was not covered by the new thermostat. There was no mention that this would be necessary, no offer to patch the damage, no attempt to sweep up the plaster mess. Also, he moved an easy chair and scratched the hardwood floor finish.
Description of Work: Changed the thermostat for our heater.

I spoke with our technician and he said that the thermostat was old and had been painted over many times. When he went to remove it, some of the paint came up with it. There was the debris from this on the floor which he offered to clean up and the client said no, that she was going to vacuum. He said that he had to move a couch to access the Thermostat, but was very careful in moving it and did not believe that he had scratched the floor. When the client called the shop to report this, we offered to send someone to repair the wall if it was damaged and she declined this service as well. We try very hard to be careful about all of these things and to satisfy our customers, I am truly sorry that this visit was not satisfactory for you.
