This is the third time that I have used Patchworks. As far as I'm concerned there is no one else. Aston Hill is a rarity in this day and age. He shows up on time, is extremely professional and leaves the place clean and tidy. Not to mention his old world skill craftsmanship. He's probably not the cheapest but nothing of quality ever is.

I was preparing the home for painting and needed a professional to repair ~100 sq ft of water-damaged stucco on the exterior and to plaster a new closet. Have had painters or other trades do this work in the past but the outcome has been unsatisfactory, with uneven texture and poor consistency. I was fortunate to receive a referral to Patchwork's by a trusted friend who had used this service on a previous job. Aston responded promptly to my call and was timely in viewing the job and providing a quote. Work began exactly as scheduled and was completed within the 2 days that was promised. Importantly, Aston and his associate to great care to protect the surrounding areas from any dust and debris created from the work. No collateral damage occurred. The project was completed exactly as I had hoped with a quality finish at a reasonable price, and with no complications. I will absolutely use this service in the future and would highly recommend.

In January, we called Aston at Patchwork's to repair a huge hole in our bathroom ceiling that had been caused by a leaking air conditioner line. Aston came to the house, assessed the damage and gave us a very reasonable quote. Although we had wanted to start the project ASAP, we unfortunately had to delay the work for several months due to some family matters that we had deal with. We eventually scheduled the work to be done in early May. Despite the delay on our part, Aston honored his original quote to us and was very accommodating to our needs and schedules. We originally chose Patchwork's due to it's excellent reviews on Angie's list. I'm happy to report that those reviews were an accurate prediction of our own experience with this company. Aston did all of the work himself and transformed our bathroom "disaster" into "good-as-new" condition. His professionalism, workmanship, communication and courtesy were greatly appreciated. We hope to utilize his services again in the near future to repair some stucco on the outside of our house. We enthusiastically recommend Patchwork's! Overall Grade: A+++++

You can' t go wrong selecting Aston to do the job! Aston is fantastic to work with and a true professional. He was prompt, courteous, quick, and seems to always have a positive attitude. His work is beautiful and perfectly matches the existing stucco on my 57 year-old home. You can tell that he takes pride in his work. I'm going to contact him this summer for a quote to remove my popcorn ceilings and perform some drywall repair on the interior of my home.

Called to get information and possible quote on ceiling work. Ashton was very professional and spent time giving me idea including using my current contractor as it may have been most ideal for me and my wallet. I was surprised at the candor and honesty even to the detriment of him potentially losing an opportunity. Don't see that everyday.

We hired Aston to do stucco work over our front door. He replaced old wood paneling with stucco. The new stucco blends with the old stucco on our house perfectly. Aston was a pleasure to work with. He was prompt, courteous and cleaned up when done with the job. We would hire him again.

Aston was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He returned all calls and emails promptly, was EXTREMELY clean with his work space, and did a beautiful job. The new stucco and interior look amazing! I was torn between two stucco colors, and he helped advise me on that as well - the color he helped me pick looks great. Our interior walls have a very strange texture and he replicated it very well. I would not hesitate to hire Aston again. Working with Aston was very easy. He was punctual and professional, and maintained great communication. When he wasn't happy about the texture on the ceiling, on his own he decided to come back the next day to retexture the entire ceiling. He covered all the cabinets and appliances and left the area very clean and neat. He did a great job and it was a pleasure working with him.

Beginning with the extremely professional response to our initial inquiry regarding the ability to perform the work, all the way through to the completion of the job, this experience was the most satisfactory experience we have ever had with a contractor. In addition to the superb work performed by Aston, his persona and ability to make his clients feel at ease make it easy to understand why his work is continually reviewed as the best in the business!

Aston was the best contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He was incredibly responsive, always getting back to me within a day and often within an hour. Three other highly rated stucco specialists on Angie's list didn't even return my calls! Aston was able to give us a quote from a picture as soon as the plumber finished their work, and I felt like it was a very reasonable price for the work, so we scheduled a time that same week. When he came on-site, he spent an hour or so doing demo to prepare the wall. A mere few hours later he had everything patched up except for the final layer that he wanted to put on after the wall had time to dry (since it was not in direct sunlight). He also offered to resurface an adjacent area that we had shabbily patched ourselves a few years ago after removing a shelf. A few days later he came back to finish the job and besides the fact that the wall is not yet painted you'd never know it had been repaired! I noticed after he left that he even patched up a few corners that weren't anywhere near the main area to make sure that the whole wall looked its best. My only regret is that I cannot give Aston a rating higher than an A and that he can't do all kinds of contracting work!

Aston Hill is a master plasterer. He did an outstanding job of outside stucco patching and repair of a drywall section on the inside. He did excellent work and cleaned everything when finished. He used quality materials and was very meticulous in his work.

Let me start by giving the highest recommendation possible for Aston and his crew. Aston was highly communicative, fair and professional throughout the process. Patchwork's was one of several businesses that I attempted to contact to perform this work, but was the only business to not only respond, but to provide an estimate. Aston took the time to discuss with me the possible remedies for fixing a hole in the bedroom ceiling, including providing sound professional advice on the benefits of properly replastering the ceiling. He also talked through with me the pluses and minuses of tinting the plaster, helping me to make the better choice of painting. Complicating this was my being out of town for an extended period and the need to loop in a family member who would oversee the work. Aston took this in stride and kept both me and my family member fully informed. Aston and crew set-up, completed replastering both the kitchen and bedroom, and cleaned up in just two days time. The ceilings were textured to maintain the feel of the historic condo, and look better than when I bought the place. I've never seen a contractor clean up as throughly and well as they did after the work was completed.

I've used Aston quite a few times in the past for exterior stucco work. This project involved numerous interior wall holes (old intercom system) and a few ceiling patches as well. I knew matching the ceiling patches to the existing texture would not be easy, but Aston did a great job. Once I get the place painted, you won't even be able to tell that work was done there.

Aston did an amazing job repairing our wall. We were not only impressed by the quality of his work and his amiable personality but also his commitment to honesty and professionalism. Prior to starting work, Aston noticed that the leak in our wall wasn't quite repaired yet and, while we were unaware, was continuing to leak. Rather than ignore the issue and proceed with the work to make a quick buck, Aston made sure to inform us of the problem so we could adequately fix it prior to patching the wall. After finalizing repairs, Aston worked with us and our schedule in order to make sure we could have our repairs completely promptly. He was a pleasure to work with and without a doubt, we'd work with him again.

My husband and I could not be any happier. Aston did an amazing job for us. The work was done very well and even though our current stucco is more than 10 years old, he matched the color almost perfectly. He has great communication skills and always keeps you informed about the progress of the job itself and availability in his schedule to work with your time frame. Things went great! I contacted Aston Hill, owner of Patchwork's Plaster Company, to get an estimate to repair a hole in the plaster of our exterior kitchen wall. Aside from my not being able to understand and follow some simple instructions things went well. We exchanged information, and the job was scheduled for a day or so later. Aston understood our need to move ahead swiftly because the hole allowed all sorts of vermin access to our home. He first sealed the opening to eliminate that concern. Then he returned and filled the opening with plaster, and then a finish coat. The finish looks great, and is ready for paint. Aston is a skilled craftsman who understand the importance of good communications with his clients. He is ready to keep you informed on the progress of your job, and to make sure you know what the next steps might be. We will always keep Aston in mind when looking to make other needed repairs in the future. We have already referred him to another potential job with a friend. Aston Hill is a highly skilled master craftsman and his plastering is a work of art. The quality of the walls that Aston repaired and plastered are better than the original lath and plaster and are seamless with the existing walls. Aston is also meticulous and is very careful to clean up after each job so there is no trace that any work was just completed. Aston is dependable and punctual and he proactively communicated his schedule and kept us informed of the status of each job he did for us. Aston is very personable and he takes pride in his work. Aston is articulate and he can explain all the plastering techniques he utilizes. Aston Hill is an exceptional craftsman and we will be using his expertise and skills again next month.

He was on time both when he bid the job and when he came to do the job.That's very important to me. He was very professional and cleaned up and popcorn ceiling can be very very messy.I never had one bit of mess to clean. We were so lucky to find Aston Hill and Patchwork Plastering. Aston is a second-generation plasterer from England. He really knows his craft. We hired him to do patchwork on our 1930 Spanish Colonial Revival home after having it re-wired. The walls in the place looked like swiss cheese after the electricians were done. I think one estimator counted more than 150 holes in total! My biggest concern was the plaster walls in the living room and dining room that had a swirling texture that was original to the house. I did not want to skim over the original detail, but I knew matching it would be incredibly difficult. In the end, Aston did an incredible job on the living room. You cannot tell where the holes were made at all! The electricians were amazed when they came back and saw the work. Even the painting contractor was amazed (he had also bid on the patching job, but didn't get it), both at the quality of the work and the price. Aston knows the limits of his skill as well and is very honest. He said the walls in the dining room would be impossible for him to match perfectly. He said he could try but that he thought we would be better off skimming over those walls. We took his advice and were incredibly happy with the results. Another thing that I wanted to mention is that Aston is the boss and the worker. He had a helper on this job because of the size, but there's no dealing with an estimator, the boss, the foreman and the workers...just him. He's super-communicative and was very responsive with the progress of the job via text message. Finally, he finished the job just when he said he would.

Hired Aston based on previous reviews to patch area around newly installed exterior door. Thirty-five year old stucco had to be cut back about six inches for new door installation. Asked him to try to match old stucco. Also asked him to fill some misc. holes in the exterior stucco that were from the removal of a HVAC system, and old patio cover. Aston was extremely responsive by phone and email, and arrived promptly as scheduled. After verifying scope of work I tried to pay him since I would not be there when he was finished. He refused payment until I inspected the work and was satisfied. Coming home later that day I expected good work based on his reviews. He exceeded all expectations. The repaired area around the new door blends perfectly with the existing stucco. All of the misc. holes that he filled and repaired were done so well we are not exactly sure where the holes were! Outstanding quality of work and total professionalism. Was a joy to meet him and have him improve our home.
