Scott replaced all the under sink shutoff valves. Scott was great in spending time explaining all the nuances of the various plumbing systems and what issues may or may not arise. He helped me troubleshoot some problems I had been having with my recirculation pumps, gave me good advice and options on how to fix. He looked at the water flow in the house, in the toilets, etc. to make sure everything was working well and performed adjustments that needed to be done. Also Scott spent time with me on my water heater, flushed the water and we talked at length about replacement options when the time comes. Scott is a very experienced and knowledgable plumber. He works fast and gets the job done. Very customer focused. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: Called Scott to my house to replace all the shutoff valves located under all my sinks as half had gone bad. Also wanted Scott to attached some loose copper piping under the house that a previous plumbing contractor had left hanging/unfinished. Lastly, wanted Scott to look at the hot water heater to see if the anode stick needed replacement.

We called Grant Plumbing on the evening of 7/20 - not an emergency call! -and he was able to make it to our house 7/21 noon! They installed a new water filter under the kitchen sink and fixed a bathtub spout. Although the instructions said it will be easy, we didn't wanted to even try to install the water filter. The old one had to be removed and the connections changed to fit our sink. They did it very quickly, changed what needed to be change and finally we have drinking water, with excellent flow in the kitchen.Scott was able to fix the bathtub spout, there was a broken piece and although he couldn't find the exact one at ACE he adapted (basically made it) the one he was able to find - we were able to keep our "fancy" spout!. Scott also worked out the shower head and now we have great pressure and no water coming out of the spout! Grant Plumbing were prompt, cheerful and courteous, everybody is happy now!! No spills, no mess, the only evidence of their work is that both the water filter and the spout work perfectly!
Description of Work: Installation of new walter filter under the kitchen sink (plus removal of the old filter). Fix of bathtub spout.

I had a leaking toilet that needed replacement. The floor mounting dimensions were critical due to the installation space. My first attempt was with Lindstrom Plumbing in Burlingame. They offered a toilet that might not fit that I would have to pay for even if it didn't fit (THANKS BUT NO THANKS). Another plumber (nice guy so no ID) took the measurements and never called back. Meanwhile we are still down one toilet in a two bathroom house. So I decided to try Angie's list. I found Grant Plumbing after a search for local plumbers and the reviews were good. I called and Scott asked me to text some pictures of the space. He followed up the next day when he hadn't received my text. I re-sent the pictures. Meanwhile I had identified a toilet that I thought would fit. Scott went to the distributor, took the toilet out of the box to confirm it would fit and came to my house. The replacement process had multiple issues (old house and poor previous installation issues) that Scott solved amazingly efficiently. In 2 hours new toilet was installed. I'm hiring him to repair some other plumbing issues in my house. If you want fast response, professional help and a fair price, Grant Plumbing is for you. This whole process starting with signing up for Angie's list took only two days

I needed someone on Sunday to help me install my garbage disposal and faucet correctly. I tried to install it myself, but the disposal/pipes kept leaking. Scott was able to install everything correctly, and even pointed out an issue with a leaky T-Pipe in the wall that would need to be fixed. Scott cleaned up under the sink, and ran multiple tests to make sure the work was done properly.

I've used them for a lot of projects around the house and I've been very, very pleased with them. They have done at least four small projects around my house from the toilet to changing the fittings to a huge job in my backyard where the sewer line goes to the city line. I have been very, very happy. I got quotes the first time I used them but after that I don't even bother getting quotes because they are so good. I like the guy and he brings his Labrador Smoky with him. I ask him to bring his dog every time he comes.

Scott was one of the few plumbers I called that was willing to do most of the work on an hourly basis. Comparable to all the plumbers I called, which at first when I called others I was take a back a bit on the hourly, albeit it's a rare skill which I'm sure most of us wouldn't want to do some of the sewer gigs they have to :) We just did remodeling in the bathroom. We had bought some price pfister shower trim kits, but Scott educated us on the plastic/ceramic discs, and recommended us to get a Grohe or Delta that had brass discs since the others might leak over the next few years, which is great since if you think about it, if it leaked, in 5 years he'd have to come back. Nice to know he's really trying to make sure I used the best. There were also other little things like him answer text messages from me trying to coordinate with the tiling guy on the depth and height of fixtures, along with him answering my sms messages on different model shower/tub trim kits. He was able to squeeze me in with 2 days notice so that we didn't have to slow down the tiling (came in right after demo, so we could put up the hardy backers. When it came to the sink, he spent time explaining why he thought we should replace the steel nipples attached to the copper pipes (rust!), and the drain which was an original 1950's. As always in a remodel I guess you don't plan on these things and he had to spend half a day under the house replacing some pipes. It's always hard to know whether or not you really have to when you use a contractor the first time, especially in a trade where you don't have a ton of knowledge. Needless to say, after he pulled the old pipes out and showed me, you couldn't even shove a pencil thru the crud that was backed up into this pipe! Albeit it wasn't in my original bathroom budget of an additional $1K, it had to be done. We also needed to replace the garage utility sink, and Scott went so far as to order one for us with his trade discount and pick it up, while not charging us the time for it as well.. He gave me about 4 options on how to re-route the garage pipes, and all along with different prices. we opted for the cheapest of course since it's in the garage with some creative plumbing to squeeze in the tub net to the washer/dryer. Of course he could have done it the new build way with the recessed box, etc.. but it would have been way too expensive. All in all, again as I do my first remodel, I now have favorited Scott on my list of contractors to make sure I call first. Price was reasonable compared to the others I called, but more importantly I felt like I could trust him, his judgement and he was always looking out for me to make sure I was picking quality parts that last. He gets it, treat me well, do good work, and I'll refer business and use him again.. Sold..
Description of Work: Installed new shower/tub fixtures, sink fixtures, replace pipes under house, install toilet, install utility sink/new pipes.

They did good work, but they did one estimate and then they raised it higher. I was happy about the work, but I wasn't happy that the amount that we were charged got changed once they got into the job because I think they should have known what the job entailed in the beginning. I was happy with the work but I think the estimate should not have changed. I might use them again but I would be very sure that when I called them l would tell them I wouldn't want a change of estimate and if they did give me an estimate I would need them to stick with it.

We had to have some old galvanized drainpipe removed that was probably 50 years old. The old pipe was almost closed off. Scott told us that there wasn't enough fall on the line to drain properly. He installed new lines with the proper slope and secured for potential earthquake damage. We had to have the line snaked out twice a year prior to this. In the process of installing the new lines they loosened a connection under a sink. An o-ring had calcified and the sink leaked. They came back out the next business day and fixed the problem. We would hire them again.

We called because our bathtub wouldn't drain. Scott came out within an hour and 1/2 and was able to clear a major hair blockage. Then while he was at our house, I had him look at and ultimately fix a leak we had under the kitchen sink. He was able to replace some of the pipes and the trap. He charged me $225.00 which I thought was quite reasonable for the work he did. I would recommend him highly.

Gave Scott (the proprietor of Grant's plumbing) a call based on Angie's list recommendations and ended up he was available immediately, so I met him at my house to troubleshoot some plumbing issues I was having. He was very professional and friendly. He gave me a lot of helpful information and advice on a number of issues and fixed the drop in water pressure by cleaning out the sediment from the water filters. He also replaced the toilet valve since I was complaining it was slow to fill the tank. Overall, a very good experience.

I was extremely satisfied from start to finish with Scott's professionalism. He was on-time and followed through with a phone call with his findings. Since there was nothing actually broken Scott did not do any actual repairs, just a thorough inspection. When I told Scott to bill me, he surprised me by saying there would be "no charge, and happy holidays!" That is very refreshing these days and I will certainly call Scott at Grant Plumbing the next time I need a plumber.
Description of Work: I own an apartment building and deal with a lot of different trades people. Some take days to return my call. I called Scott and left a message. I was very impressed when I got a return call the same day and an appointment for the following day. I wanted him to take a look at a toilet to see if there was a leak. Scott inspected the toilet and told me that there was nothing wrong with the toilet, except a condensation problem in the room itself.

I chose Grant Plumbing based upon the recommendations here on Angie's List. I called and left him a message. He called back, asked for specifics about my problem, then some specific questions regarding my kitchen sink, the set up, and the kind of disposal to install. He was booked up for two days (of course, if you're good, you're not sitting around waiting for the phone to ring...), so we scheduled the installation for later in the week. Scott arrived promptly for the installation, introduced himself and his helper, and immediately set to work. Scott is a diligent and cheerful worker. His experience shows in his work. He quickly diagnosed the cause of the problem with the old disposal and gave me a quick tutorial on how to avoid those problems in the future; so I got some education along the way.
Description of Work: Scott swapped out my leaking garbage disposal with a new disposal I had purchased. He did it in less than an hour, despite running into a problem which required modifying a drain pipe that would not accommodate the new disposal. He kept me informed as to his progress. His work is neat and professional. He thoroughly tested the system before leaving, to assure there would be no call-back. He was scrupulous about his clean up and even offered to put the old disposal in the trash bin.

Scott called on the day he was scheduled to be at my home to say he was caught up in traffic and would be arriving in about 10 minutes. He arrived a little later and seemed very knowledgeable. He made suggestions on replacement water lines, fixed a problem with the ball cock in my master bath; disconnected the sink and dishwasher and moved the dishwasher to the garage. Since I was satisfied with his work, I asked if he would come back to install my new sink, faucets, dishwasher, and reconnect the water. Scott agreed to return and specifically told me to call him to return for the day after the countertops are installed. I called Scott as soon as the granite company told me the installation date. When I talked to Scott, he said that he wasn t planning to work on the day that I needed him to come back. He said that I was only giving him 3 days notice. He suggested that I give him a call while the granite people were at my home to let him know the progress of their work and he said that he would try to come out the same day that they finished the installation. However, the granite installers told me to not touch the countertops for 24 hours to give everything a chance to set. These instructions jibed with the original reason that Scott said that he should come the day after the installation to connect the water, etc. I was disappointed and uncomfortable with Scott s suggestion that he would come out the same day that the countertops were installed, so I decided to call someone else to do the work. To his credit, Scott called me the day after my countertops were installed. I told him that I d had someone else connect the water and install the dishwasher. Scott seemed miffed by my actions and I felt badly about having to use someone else, but at the same time, I wanted to have water in my kitchen again so that I could cook again. Scott said that he d asked me to call him so that he could fit me into his schedule.

This seemingly major problem went well and turned into a minimal problem handled quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: I had a water leak running down through the walls and thought I had a bad pipe connection. I was prepared to tear out the tile for this stall shower problem. Grant Plumbing came in and went through a series of testing procedures to confirm the problem and traced it to a hairline crack in the shower head stem pipe. So rather than tearing out the tile it was a simple repair job which probably saved me over $1,000. He also pointed out some other potential problems in my tract home. I will have them back to repair these before we have some real water problems which other neighbors have already experienced.

Grant Plumbing was the 4th plumber I called to fix our toilet. The first said we needed to replace our toilet and it would cost $900.00. he second said his supplier could not get the parts. A third did not return my call. Scott was familiar with the Kohler product and was able to get the part through a special order. He called when the part came in on the day he had estimated. The new part was installed in an hour. He was very professional and service oriented. A pleasure to work with.

Scott had a competitive bid and was easy to schedule a time for the work. He brought two helpers for the job and they got everything done in one day. The final price wound up being more than estimated by about 10% because he forgot to include the extra price for a short water heater and the disposal cost for the old water heater in the original bid. So the final price wound up being similar to another bid I'd received, rather than lower than the other bids. Nonetheless, the quality of the work seemed high and the price was still competitive. In places where he had the option to replace and extra segment of old galvanized pipe or replace it with copper, he chose to replace, which was good. And he was able to mate the copper pipe to some very corroded pipes that I wasn't ready to replace yet. I'd definitely use his services again.
Description of Work: Scott replaced an old water heater and the exposed galvanized pipes leading to it, replaced the main water line and valve from the meter to the house, and moved a segment of gas line in the garage.

I called Scott the day before to set an appointment. The next morning he arrived in the time range he gave me and went into the crawl space to assess the problem. He told me that he would have to return later that afternoon with a new pump and a worker to assist him. I had to leave for work but left the door to the space unlocked. At the end of the day, he called to tell me that he had finished the job and left. When I arrived home, I went to inspect the work. Scott came back to the house to describe what he had done and to pick up his payment. He also informed me that the pump cost more than he had quoted earlier that morning. Consequently, I ended up paying the amount in the highest end of the range (from $400-500) of the quote that he gave me. Scott has a warm and friendly disposition, which made it easier to trust him at my home without my being there. I'd definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Grant Plumbing removed and replaced a dysfunctional sump pump that had become immersed in mud and water. Also, they removed some debris around the pump well and scattered rocks available in the crawl space around the well.

Scott is great. He was out of town when my message was left, but returned my call later in the evening. He arranged to come out the day after he returned. After Scott determined that the kitchen faucet pipes had been damaged and subsequently corroded, he quickly went out and bought a new faucet for me. As I was at work, he had me go online and look at the faucet he was recommending that I buy. He performed the work quickly and efficiently. Very professional, neat, and friendly.

After a timely first visit for an estimate, an appointment was made. His references were excellent, so I felt confident. He was very late to the scheduled appointment to do the work, but he called to let me know. He found some things that needed to be fixed before the pump could be installed. Everything was done and certain items were brought up to code, which I didn't realize were not before. He showed me everything he worked on. I was shocked how 'gunked up' my pipes were. Now that I have almost instant hot water, I am very pleased. In fact, I can say it has changed my life. Scott is a good and knowledgeable worker. However, I was not so thrilled with the helper he brought, who did some things I was not happy about.
Description of Work: Installed hot water re-circulating pump (for faster hot water in two-story house); installed new water heater straps; installed new flex lines to water heater. Also, he made some small adjustments to work done by a previous plumber.
