Scott was able to take my call while on another job. He worked with me on the phone to find a time when he could fit me in and was able to come over the same day. He did a good job and unclogged the drain. It wasn't easy. He had to run his snake through the clog at least 3 times and blast water down the line to break it up enough to get the line clear. He was easy to talk to and had good advice. He didn't mind discussing the problem and helping me understand what he was doing or how the plumbing works. It was nice that I was able to get through to him when I needed help and didn't have to leave a message on a machine somewhere and wait.

Grant Plumbing showed up early, after texting to let me know they were going to be about a half hour early. They ran into difficulty after the snake from the kitchen clean out couldn't clear the clog. They then got creative and were able to clear the clog from under the house. Over all a great experience, they were prompt, professional and knew what they were doing. Pricing was reasonable. Would use them again.
Description of Work: Clear a difficult clog in the 2" line under the house, caused by a backup in the mainline that was cleared by a different plumber. The other plumber did not think to check for a double backup.

Scott is always very responsive. I had used him before for a minor bathroom repair and had been impressed with his level of service and professionalism. So I called him up again when a pipe burst under the kitchen because roots had grown into main sewer line, breaking it in multiple places and blocking it up completely. He came out that day to take a look and give me an estimate to fix the kitchen pipe, replace the main sewer line, and treat our crawlspace. After I contracted him for the job he got it done when he said he would at the price quoted and made the arrangements for the city inspection. In addition, he's just super pleasant to work with and enthusiastic about what he does and making sure it's done right. I would use him again and highly recommend him.

The plumbing industry is tough work and I know how stressful it is as a homeowner or property manager to not have working plumbing/water heater. I've gone for two days without hot water! (It's a gentle reminder how we take hot water for granted these days!) Scott and Dave are two very smart, experienced workers. I called/texted them the night before and Scott promptly responded informing me of his availability. Since I live close to his office he was willing to stop by my place on his way home from doing jobs all day. Here's a quick run down: I noticed my water wasn't as hot a couple days ago. When I went to check my water heater, I noticed that the pilot light had gone out. I followed the instructions (for safety) on the water heater to attempt to relight the pilot light. But, after multiple attempts to relight it (I held down the pilot light button), I could see that the manual light was staying light, but the pilot light wouldn't remain light after keeping it held down for 1 minute (per the instructions on my heater). Some heaters say you only need to hold it for 30 seconds. But, mine wasn't staying lit, even after 1 minute of manual lighting. Since my water heater is only 2 years old (it has a 9 year warranty), it really shouldn't be having issues. So, my wife called GE (we have a GE Ultra Low Nox 9 year). GE said that they would overnight the thermo coupler (which after some over the phone diagnostics) they determined to be the faulty part. Here's what I really liked about Scott/Dave: They confirmed everything that I learned on my own on youtube and from speaking to the Warranty agent at GE. - The part isn't a standard thing most plumbers have - The part isn't typically sold at Home Depot Now, I'm waiting for the thermo coupler from GE to arrive at my home, and the plan is to make this a weekend project. If I ever have a plumbing problem, I would most likely call Scott/Dave again. They were very reasonable about their pricing and informed me of what they could and could not do. Great communication!
Description of Work: Scott Grant was kind enough to stop by my home this afternoon to diagnose a faulty water heater. He came to my home (with his partner) at no charge (since no work was done).

It was good. The job was done as expected. They actually hit the wall in the back when they were doing some of the cutting and had to have a chrome extension. The guy was very helpful and prompt. The price was reasonably priced. He did clean up. He was good but one of the workers was not up to our expectations. Our house is from the 1920's so the plumbing was probably from in the 50's. We don't know if we would use them again because I had to patch the wall in the back.

Called in the morning to arrange the drain clearing for that afternoon. As requested, SMS'd the address with an agreement to follow-up later (via text) and meet at the address and quot;around 4and quot;. Texted at about 3:30p that I might run a few minutes late (no response). Called while driving to the location (no answer, left VM). Texted again upon arrival (no response). Called again (no answer). Finally received a text at 4:45p (!) that he had completed his last job of the day and was going home for the weekend. If your day was that booked, WHY AGREE TO AN APPOINTMENT? Left me stuck with trying to locate a plumber who was even answering at that hour on a Friday. Fortunately did locate an (excellent) plumber (RDS in San Carlos) who didn't even charge me afterhours/overtime fee!

Overall, the experience was excellent. His price was quite reasonable, and he's very skilled; he found some issues that were caused by another plumber. He took the time do a 15 minute water test in the in a bathroom rental before installing the high-end fixtures, so he found a leak that would've ended up being very costly to me. He showed me where the leak was and was very trustworthy!

Scott was very professional and responsive. For the estimate, he was running behind the schedule but called twice beforehand to inform me. He was extremely courteous and apologetic. On the day of the appointment for the repair, he and his partner arrived early and called to check with me to see if it is convenient time to get started. For price and quality, I would have rated them excellent if I have something to compare and know how evaluate. I definitely will use his service again.
Description of Work: Scott and his partner performed the following service: replaced a cartridge in master bathroom, cut a large hole in ceiling to access master bath drain, cut out old waster and overflow, installed new waste and overflow, ABS trap and a short section of pipe.

I called them at 8:15 am, and they picked up immediately. I described my issue, and they already give me a prognostic of the diagnosis and cost estimate to repair the defective part. I was given 2 options for an appointment conveniently fitting our schedule, and at 2pm the same day (per our schedule) the repair was initiated on site. The technician arrived on time, and the part was promptly replaced. The reason of the problem and the cost of the repair matched the initial estimate given on the phone. I am very satisfied by the service, because it was prompt, professional and fair for the work done. At 7pm, the kids had a bath.

He was supposed to come back a third time and never came. It turned out that the water company mis-did my bill and I didn't have a leak at all. It was really bizarre. What he did was fine but he didn't come back. I wasn't really happy in the end because I spent all that money. He basically rebuilt where the water comes in because it had been done improperly. The price was probably reasonable for how much time it took. I would probably use him again.

I really like Scott Grant, but he was in a different county, and he did not want to do the permit because it would take a lot longer. His price was very competitive with the one I actually did use. I was very impressed with him. I would really have gone with him if he would have done the permit. I like him because he was a small company, and I thought maybe it would be more flexible. He was very knowledgeable, and he has really good marks from other people. He was very responsive. He was late, but he called me to let me know because he had a previous engagement.

They called in advance to let us know they were running behind schedule. The pipe was causing some leaking into some woodwork and trim so they had to cut away some of the wood to get to the pipe. Once they were able to get to the pipe they had to replace it with a newer pipe to stop the leaking. After installing the new pipe the leaks was gone. We were pleased with their work. Their pricing seemed a little high but they did provide us with an Angie's List discount.

I had a leaky shower. I had just replaced the COLD valve rubber seat washer (it crumbled out), and I had tried to remove the HOT valve cartridge to do the same, but the valve would not budge. I messed with it a lot, and managed to make the leak much worse, as well as to strip the nut even more. I was certain all that needed to be done was to remove the HOT valve cartridge and replace the washers. The valve seemed impossible to unscrew though, and rather than making the original hex nut entirely round, I called Scott Grant. I feared that I would need to rip out wall tiles just to get this valve out. Scott said he could come by the same day, in about 45 minutes. Once he got there, after about 5 minutes Scott got the valve loose! (After my hard attempts and failing). He then went to the store to replace the entire valve (since it was so stripped), but the store was out of stock. He called around and no one had it. He said he would come back when he could get the replacement, and bill me then. I suggested that instead of paying him for another hour of time, I would rather try to do it myself again. Now that we had the part number, and loosened the valve, I thought I could manage. He was very kind and actually gave me a discount for the time spent going to the store because he didn't come back with anything. He also gave me the part number and explained what else I would need, including another, smaller part, and as well as a specific tool. I will definitely call him again if I have other plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Momentarily fixed a bad shower leak, figured out the right part number for replacement, and saved me money by allowing me to get the parts myself and finish the job.

Scott was very professional over the phone when I first contacted him. I later texted him and we quickly agreed on a time for him to come over (the next day). He arrived exactly on time with two of his employees and was professional and friendly. I showed him where water was leaking into my garage and after me giving consent, he directed his employees to tear into the drywall and find the leak. They found the leak quickly and he determined the cause of the leak (a stress related tear caused by improper installation). They quickly repaired the pipe and Scott had me run water in the upstairs bathroom to test out the repair. The pipe still leaked and they repaired it again in a different way. Scott was very knowledgeable about houses built in Foster City and I appreciated that he gave me some tips on my gas furnace and other general plumbing issues while he was here. My only concern was that he quoted me between $300-$400 and then charged me $400. However, I gave him the benefit of the doubt that the repair had been slightly more work than he had initially expected.

Efficiently completed job in less time than estimated, very informative about process, friendly and professional. Job would have been less costly if local hardware store did not overcharge for materials, so if you know what you need you might have him obtain it on the way to the job at larger store. He does a pretty good job. I used him from time to time over several years. He is a very modest guy and seems to know his work. The most important thing about him is, he tells you when he does not know what the answer to the question is instead of just making it up. His work is not always perfect. He did the jobs I asked him to quickly and at a fair price. I'm very satisfied with the work overall. My only complaint is that he's a busy guy with a lot of jobs and he left me hanging a few times. The first time was after he installed the new gas line, there were multiple leaks in other parts of the house (not in the line he installed). These need to be fixed before you can pass inspection. He spent a long time fixing leaks, but by the end of the day, there were still a few more to be fixed. I had an inspection scheduled for the end of the week and he was supposed to come back before then to fix them, but he had other jobs and so he wasn't able to. Luckily, my inspector didn't pay too much attention to the pressure test and passed me. Then Scott came over after the inspection and fixed the rest of the leaks. The second time was after he installed the tub, it was a Friday and there was a faulty part in the valve assembly, due to which he couldn't turn the water back on until Monday when the store re-opened and we got a new part. The faulty part wasn't his fault, but I I think he could have done more to workaround the issue so I didn't have to go the weekend without water. The third thing was when he installed the tub, he didn't have time to adjust the drain correctly. I reduced what I paid him because of that and fixed it myself. Overall he did a very good job and I would hire him again. I don't blame him much for the things that went wrong. My job had a very rushed timeline, and these things happen when you are trying to get a lot of remodeling done very quickly.
Description of Work: Initially hired to install a new gas line. His prices were the best of the ~6 plumbers I had give me estimates. He did a quality job quickly, so I had him install a new cast iron tub for me in the bathroom, move a drain in the kitchen, and install a waterline for my fridge.

Scott Grant responded by mobile phone the same day we called. Gave an approximate estimate over the phone for the kind of 50 gallon water heater we were replacing. Called the next morning and provided an estimate of when he would arrive - and arrived right on the appointed hour. Came with his assistance and in two hours they old water heater was out of there, carried up through three stories of our house and the new one was installed, along with a new pan, and working. Plus he disposed of the old one for us. All of this, the new heater, the installation, the removal and the disposal was all included in his fee. Plus he was within 5% of his initial estimated charge. This is the second time we have used Scott; his response was always quick, he set a correct expectation for timing and price and the quality of the work was first rate.

Scott first came out to repair terrible previous installations (not his) of faucets and bowls in several bathrooms. He did a perfect job - paid attention to details and made things work properly the first time. I thought and quot;Fantastic - I am so glad to have found a true finish plumberand quot;. So I asked him to come back to do more work. The second visit was to run a new water supply line for a new fridge. While he was under the house he found a substantial problem with sewage drain lines. He texted me at work, and agreed to do the work the same day. I was so impressed that he rearranged his schedule, and finished the project. I recommend him without reservation as an all-around Plumber who is both Capable, responsive, and professional.

Scott was always punctual, always open about the challenges, and always willing to bend over backwards to get the job done. This was a job where no one really understood the problem or the extent of the work involved until the yard was all ripped up and the pipe excavated, so there was LOTS of ambiguity along the way. On top of that, I was scheduled to be out of town and my wife was home alone with the three kids and a soccer tournament to get them to every day. . . . all without having any working toilets and showers in the house. Scott kept us informed all along the way, texting both descriptions and pictures . . . as well as some of the many estimates he did and redid as we discovered the extent of the problems. In the end the job was finished on Sunday afternoon as he and his helpers worked countless weekend hours to enable everyone to move back in as soon as possible. It was a nightmarish job with rock hard ground that required practically jack-hammering in order to uncover the pipe. We really appreciated his willingness to do whatever it took to get us back to working toilets and showers as soon as possible. He was a delight to do business with and we'd use him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Sewer was backed up. Scott tried to use the rooter to clear it, but couldn't get the machine through. This was an emergency call on a Thursday morning. He arranged for a camera inspection to come out after hours that night to inspect the pipe and id the point of the blockage. The camera guy was very helpful and prompt as well, but couldn't even get the camera through the pipe. It turns out that our sewer line, though the house had been extensively remodelled, was something called "orangeburg" (basically made of tar paper. It was not only "not round" anymore, but also had been extensively invaded by roots all along a roughly 10 foot section. The whole thing needed to be replaced. In the end, Scott excavated about 30+ feet of sewer pipe and replaced it. Luckily, they found another cleanout (buried in the yard) that they were able to connect up with. Scott installed a new cleanout near the house, all the new pipe, and two new concrete boxes to go over the two cleanouts.
