Adam from So Cal Home Theater did a very professional job installing our TV and sound system. Afterwards he was very thorough going through all the features and the systems as well. We are very happy with the installation and highly recommend them!!

This was an incredible experience from start to finish, especially in today's world. I am 54 years old and my wife and I have bought a lot of items which required face to face customer service ranging from a new car to an in home delivery and setup of a 55 inch projection HDTV and the initial DirecTV dish and receiver installation and nothing has come close to the professionalism, thoroughness, competence and just plain old caring that Alan and Alex delivered! Before I go any further, please ignore the report about the lady and Alex hanging up on her - more on that later. I, of course, found So Cal Home Theater on Angie's List. I called on 6/14/12 and talked to Alan who is the owner and called back the next day to make my appointment. I initially told him that I needed my old DirecTV dish removed and a new HD DirecTV dish installed - I bought all of my own equipment upon upgrading to the HD service because I did not want to get refurbished equipment from DirecTV. Alan quoted me a price of $125 for the job which included drive time. He said it would take about two hours and that Alex, a very experienced installer, would perform the job. I later called Alan about the extra job of inserting the console center insert and he said that should be about another hour or $60. He also said that if the job goes over a small amount of time, there would be no extra charges. We set up the appointment for 6/22/12 at 9:00 a.m. During the week leading up to the appointment I called Alan several times with questions and he was always so polite and helpful - even though I had not asked him to do the extra job yet involving the console center insert yet. I was actually shocked that the owner would spend so much time with me answering all my questions on such a small job - actually $125 and a two hour job was his minimum job. On the day of the appointment Alex knocked at my door some seconds after 9:00 a.m. I knew this because I looked at my Casio Solar Powered Atomic Watch (which syncs with the Fort Collins, CO Atomic Clock everyday). Talk about being punctual! After politely introducing himself, Alex said that Alan was on his way with the 28 feet ladder and would be here in a few minutes. In the meantime I showed Alex where the old dish was, the entertainment center and told him my concerns. A few minutes later, Alan showed up with a big smile. So on this small job I was getting the owner and a key employee! Talk about a bargain. They finished the dish job at about 10:45 a.m. and here is where Alan and Alex really shined. I bought my new dish through the Internet and they forgot to include the power inserter needed to power the dish! So there was no way to show me that everything was working and that I was getting my new HD channels. Then Alex came up with a Scotty from Star Trek moment: He used his battery powered signal strength meter to power up my new dish and show me that everything was working perfectly! But this story gets even better! Alan and Alex inserted my new console center insert (which weighs 135 pounds) and took out my wife's hope chest and placed it in a place of my choosing. In order to do this they had to raise the shelf in the entertainment center. And as a bonus, while I was Googling a local place to buy the missing power inserter Alan and Alex reconnected and tested my three HDMI devices through an HDMI switcher which was needed because my older HDTV only has two HDMI inputs. This certainly was not part of the job. They even gathered all the empty boxes of the new dish and console center insert for an easy trip to the curb on trash day. Alan and Alex ran about ten minutes over and there was no extra charge! And they even programmed my new remote control to work with my HDTV and new HD DVR. During this whole time they were friendly, cheerful, never in a rush, polite and professional. It was truly a painless and professional experience with superb customer service way above the call of duty. Now for the rest of the story on the lady who called Alan about having her old satellite dish removed and hung up. As Alan wrote in his response he was simply trying to save her money. Alan has a minimum fee of $125 and a handyman could easily do the job for a lot less money, or a neighbor could do it for a minimal charge or even a meal. The day after the lady called, a gentleman called with the same exact question but did not hang up, and Alan explained all this to him. The same day the lady changed her initial rating of "F" to a "C." Coincidence? I think not. This woman had no right giving Alan a mediocre rating or any rating without doing business with him! Oh, why the $175.75 charge instead of $185? Because Alan cheerfully took the 5% off coupon for Angie's List customers! Well, I hope you call Alan at So Cal Home Theater for your next satellite installation or home theater needs. The guys came out and did a super job. After they got everything hooked up they sat down and gave us a tutorial. Spent hours with us two oldies who can't figure anything out! They sold us a special remote that is really simple to use. This was part of the price. Really well worth what we paid. Really good with old folk too!

I think they did a really good job. You can't tell where they put the holes to run the wires. They were very punctual.

Alex showed up on time and got to work once I explained to him what I wanted. He was polite, professional, and proficient. In about an hour he had everything working well together and a connection to my home computer network accomplished. I heartily recommend these folks, they are the real deal in customer service and technical excellence for any kind of home theater work.

Bad phone experience.

Alan was very cordial and he really knew what he was doing. He had to do some research in the manual but he got all our components set up in 2 hours so that we only use one remote (the Dish satellite) to control all the components and now we have the sound system we originally paid for. After he got the home theater system set up, I asked him about a computer issue that I've been having and he looked at it and was able to get to the proper website that gave me instructions on how to fix the problem (I was then able to take care of that on my own).

Overall it went great. I found the company on Angie's list. The owner, Alan Clegg called me right away after contacting him via email. We arranged to meet on a Friday late in the afternoon, he was very flexible with his schedule to meet my needs. I described the project, I told him what I wanted as far as a home theatre experience and he customized a solution to my needs. I reviewed the estimate and decided to purchase the equipment myself. I did and informed Alan that I only needed the installation which he was fine with him. He revised the estimate for the labor of installing the equipment and he came out, did a great job. The installation was complete within one visit. The remote was programmed to turn on different aspects of the system such as tv, xbox games, movies, radio, and even my daughters ipod will connect up to the receiver to listen to her music through the speaker system. I needed a change to the configuration of the remote and he programmed the change into his computer remotely and I installed the changes myself by connecting the remote to my computer and downloading the program. Very useful. Again overall a great experience.

Overall it went very well. The cabinet was a replica of an old Chang dynasty piece and he had to be very careful to get the work accomplished in a fairly small cabinet. I'd definitely recommend him and So. Cal. Home Theater.

It went great! I wholeheartedly recommend Alan Clegg and So Cal Home Theater for your home theater needs. I retained him to install a home theater system in my new home that I paid the builder $800 to ?prewire.? I quickly learned that the prewire job the builder installed was not workmanlike. When Alan came to my house he noted some basic deficiencies in the builder?s work and their location of the speaker locations. That required Alan to seal the builder?s receptacles, identify and carve out new speaker locations in the drywall and run wire to those new locations. I mention the issues with the builder, because I imagine many of you may be purchasing new homes and in the process of purchasing builder ?extras.? If your builder and its subs are like mine were, then you may be wasting money by not hiring a true professional for your home theater project. For example, while running wire above the fireplace, he discovered that the builder?s workers placed trash above my fireplace in the drywall and sealed it up. His prices were extremely reasonable, and the equipment he recommended and had available was top of the line. The quality of service was absolutely great. The quality of work was workmanlike. My family and I continue to enjoy our three year old system, and we are frequently complimented when friends come to visit our home. He has always made himself available to answer any questions. My wife and I have referred him to friends, acquaintances, our coworkers (even our bosses) and now Angie?s list members. People we?ve referred him to have in turn referred him their own friends and acquaintances. I?m happy to be part of the chain that is leading people to obtain great home theater install services.

I called So Cal Home Theater for a quote to mount my TV. Alan gave me a quote and installed it as planned. My husband was curious about getting a surround sound system installed and wanted to redo all the wiring in the house. During the TV installation, he gave us another quote to put in a new surround sound, cable and phone setup and a new network. His price was fair and he did a good job on the TV installation, so we had him come back to do it. Everything went perfect. They showed up when they said they would and worked a long day to get it all finished. They kept my house clean, which was a really big deal to me. Everything works great. I got a new blue ray player a little after the installation and he reprogrammed the remote for free. I recommend him to anyone looking to have this type of work done.

I was really clueless about anything in the home theater world, so it took a lot of explaining to get me to understand what I was buying. Alan took his time and showed me a lot of different speakers until I found the ones I liked best. He explained the difference in equipment and surround sound receivers and Blue Ray players too. He recommended a 3D Pioneer receiver. The price of everything was excellent, even compared to online vendors. The installation went very smoothly, but I could tell it was a tough one. I have a custom home, so they found a lot of obstacles you don't find in a typical house- like excessive air conditioning vents. It didn't seem to bother them much though. They had to cut a few holes in the drywall to run my back speakers and to move my cable jack to the new location. He told me before he started that he would have to cut holes, but I guess I was silently hoping he wouldn't have to. I was a little nervous about that, but Alan assured me the patches would be invisible when he was done. He was absolutely right. After he patched and textured the holes, I painted them and they are gone! Once all the wiring and equipment were installed, he programmed a universal remote. Oh my gosh! I don't know how I could use my system without it. It's awesome! I think the remote is my favorite part of the whole thing. All I do is press one button and everything turns on. My wife doesn't understand electronics at all and she uses the system like a pro now. Overall, I'm really impressed with everything that they did. The price was great and the service was better. I felt like I got more than what I paid for. He's a super likable guy and comes through with everything he says he will do.

Overall the experience was great! He showed up on time and looked professional. He updated me throughout the day on exactly what he was doing and when he expected to be finished. He was very polite and courteous. Once he was done mounting my TV, he showed me how to operate the TV and DVD player. He was very patient and kind. He told me to call him if I ever had any questions or problems. I have never had any problems, but I did call him when I got a new cable box and he walked me through how to unplug the old cable box and install the new one. I will definitely use him again and I have recommended him to all my friends and family!
