We got four estimates for the job but two of the contractors did not install doors and although we could have split the jobs to save money, we decided it was best to have one contractor. Gerald, the owner, priced the job at a fair rate for the quality of materials used. His crew are courteous and personable professionals who arrived on time or phoned to let us know if they were running late. We felt comfortable with all of the crew. Randy and Nick did both the retro fit bay window and the door installation. They did an awesome job of fitting the bay window, which was about 3" too short vertically and about 1 1/2 " too short bilaterally on the horizontal. There is no air leakage nor water intrusion. It looks great on the outside as well as the inside. The installation of the door was sheer artistry. Randy and Nick had to cut down a 45" x 24" existing window which had a ledger board for hanging a patio roof covering the top edge of the window. (Evidently, the window was used as the level for placing the ledger board) I don't know how they managed to get the door in without cutting the ledger board, but they did, and it opens and closes just fine. They cleaned up after themselves and took away the debris. The finish stucco repair and the finish interior dry wall repair were done to perfection. After painting, you can't tell that the door was not there originally. We made a wise decision in choosing Coughlin Windows and Doors and wish them continued success.

We got several estimates, but chose Coughlin Windows, and we are so happy we did. Our experience from start to finish was great. The workmen arrived exactly when they promised, they accomplished the job with a minimum of noise and dust, and cleaned up so well afterwards, you could hardly tell they had been there! They were helpful and informative, and polite. The new windows and doors are beautiful, and the cost was less than we thought it would be.

Our 1950's single-glazed aluminum windows were a liability to energy efficiency, street noise intrusion, and resale value. As retrofit windows are now significantly more affordable than in the past, it was time to act. We knew from past experiences that selecting the right home improvement contractor would be critical to both quality of work and minimizing our pain. We turned to Angie's List and Yelp to discover Coughlin Windows and Doors. A check of the Contractors State License Board and BBB raised no red flags. At coughlinwindows.com then simonton.com we studied Simonton's DaylightMax product line, which we had not looked at before. We contacted Coughlin for a consultation and quote?Gerald (Coughlin) arrived on schedule two days later. His industry knowledge, product knowledge, and approach to business were impressive. We liked the firm price quote he generated on a second visit four days later, and signed a contract. Our 15 new Simonton DaylightMax windows (with LoE-366 glass packs) were installed on schedule by Steve, Josh, Randy, and Nick. Their craftsmanship was extraordinary, and the process was painless for us. We are very pleased with Coughlin Windows and our new Simonton windows, and highly recommend both.

They didn’t have the right part for the other window setting so they will be coming back.

We called Coughlin Windows and Doors and the phone was answered by a human - impressive!! Made an appointment for a visit from sales. The owner kept the appointment and described the various types of windows. He wrote an estimate and we signed the contract before he left. A date was set for the start of work. The windows were delivered and installed in one day according to the original agreed upon schedule. All scrap material and packaging was removed afterward and our place was left clean and neat. A follow up inspection was performed by the foreman on a subsequent visit. No rework was required afterward nor since and the windows perform well. We were favorably impressed with the people from Coughlin Windows and Doors who entered our home.

We had excellent estimates from 3 companies and felt Coughlin fit our job best. Coughlin was superb in all respects. Their Angie?s awards are well deserved. The owner, Gerald, is very knowledgeable and gave us great guidance. Excellent product, excellent work, great warranty, & reasonable price and schedule. We are delighted, had him back a second time, and are planning to have him install several more windows in the future. We were very comfortable having him and his crew (Randy and Nick) working here. They were pleasant, worked quickly and quietly, paid attention to details, and were methodically thorough about everything, including cleanup and verifying that we are completely satisfied.

The project went smoothly from start to finish. It only took them a few hours to install both windows.

I wanted to turn my 6' wide master br window into a sliding glass door, so Gerald (the owner) guided me through the procedures I should take to cut away the stucco and framing below the window to prepare for his installation crew (they would have done the demo, but I wanted to save the $, and I'm a Handyman). The crew completed the work in less than a day with oustanding quality and fit. The Simonton vinyl windows and doors are dual pane, with a great feel, and make my home feel much cleaner, queter, safer, and better insulated. The product, price, quality, and installation were all excellent!

Coughlin is terrific. I've been meaning to write a review on this company for months now and finally getting around to it. Sorry, Gerald!! My husband and I couldn't have been more satisfied with Gerald or his guys. They were total professionals and the entire process was seamless, really! We had a great experience with them and will continue to use them in the future when we can afford to replace the rest of our windows and doors. You could barely notice that anyone was even in our home on installation day, as Gerald's guys cleaned up after themselves so nicely. We love the quality and value of the Simonton windows and are so happy we decided to use Gerald and his team. We highly recommend them!

Working with Coughlin Windows and Doors was a pleasure from start to finish. Gerald came out for the estimate, and quickly provided a very fair and upfront estimate which was competitive with, or better than, 4 other companies that I received estimates from. In addition the windows themselves are top quality. They were made within about 2-3 weeks, and installed on the scheduled days with no surprises. The install crew, headed by Steve, did a top-notch job and despite some challenges with a few of the difficult-to-replace aluminum windows, everything came out looking amazing. We are very pleased with the quality of the windows and the installation.

Got Coughlin Windows number from the list, got 3 quotes they were all about the same, but I went with the windows brand name and best warranty, I had to wait to get HOA approval, after I got the approval they came in for detailed measurements and to make a work plan two weeks later came in and got them installed.

Our house is ~12 years old and the cheap original stuff installed by the home builder is wearing out early. The sliding door to the backyard was on its last legs when we called out Coughlin and Windoors to give competing bids. Both gave professional quotes and seemed to know their stuff. Windoors had a lower price, but the door they recommended was only LE280. Coughlin pricing was higher but their door was LE360, and I had a slightly favoritism towards coughlin because they are a smaller company with the owner strongly involved. Still, money is money and I was leaning towards going with Windoors, until Coughlin offered to reduce their pricing modestly. I appreciated the gesture and signed the contract with Coughlin. The actual install went perfectly and the door is both gorgeous and extremely easy to use. All the installation concerns I had were properly addressed and the door itself seems like it will last a very long time. We also noticed right away that our kitchen table which gets light from the sliding door was no longer overly warm/hot in the late afternoon (something the kids occasionally complain about). The installers cleaned up everything and did the work about as fast as I could hope for -- I'm tempted to go with coughlin if we ever decide to renovate our windows down the road.

Gerald came to give me a price on the sliding door, and I was so impressed with him and his product that I had him do all the downstairs windows. The installation team of Randy, Tom, and Nick were incredible. We have 3 dogs and the guys were very good with them, and made sure doors/gates were always shut. Very professional job, cleaned up everything afterwards. Then Steve came by the next day to do a final inspection. I am VERY impressed with the entire operation.

Coughlin replaced VERY OLD windows in my 1942 beach cottage and cut out a large bay window to accommodate and install a French sliding door. From bidding to measuring, installation and follow up, the staff was very professional, courteous, clean and prompt. I would use them again and again.

I just purchased a home and it had the original aluminum windows in it. My boss just had his windows and his parent's windows replaced by Coughlin and sang their praises. So I called to get a quote. Gerald Coughln (owner) came out and provided a quote and explained what the process would be...and it happened exactly as he explained...no surprises. It took three days to install the windows and I had to go to work so I felt comfortable enough with their team that I left them a key. They cleaned up after themselves each day and at the end did some minor stucco repair. The windows are stunning!! I wish I could include a picture. These windows make such a difference in the look, street noise level and temperature control. Did I mention that they look stunning? I am one HAPPY customer!!

Based on the ratings in Angie's List, we contacted Coughlin Windows & Doors to give us an estimate for replacing our sliding glass patio door. Gerald Coughlin showed us an attractive line of doors that matched our need and gave us a price that was substantially lower than those we had received from the other two vendors who had quoted the job. We accepted his offer and set an installation date for a couple of weeks from the date we signed the contract. The door was ready on the appointed date. The installation team, Nick and Josh, arrived right on time and went straight to work. They were friendly and obviously skilled in removing and installing patio doors. They worked steadily and had the job completed in about four hours. During that period they regularly cleaned up after themselves, keeping the work site (and our family room) neat and uncluttered. They also thoroughly cleaned the new door leaving both the frame and the glass sparkling clean when they finished. The installation looks great and we are very pleased with both the functionality and the appearance of the new door. As they were finishing up their supervisor, Steve, showed up to inspect their work and to make sure that we were satisfied with the job. We were. Steve made a few minor adjustments to the installation and assured us that their work ad a "double-lifetime" guarantee, meaning that the guarantee is transferable to the new owner should we decide to sell the house in the future. We are very pleased with our experience with Coughlin Windows and Doors and would gladly use them again and/or recommend them to friends.

We had Mr. Coughlin come out and bid our job after Anderson Windows had aggressively canvassed our neighborhood and given us a quote we thought was pretty outrageous, with a service date about six weeks out. Mr. Coughlin's bid, on the other hand, was very reasonable and he promised the work within a week. He carefully explained the differences in the various types of windows. He even guaranteed the work above and beyond any manufacturer warranty. They came and did the work, as promised, and we are very happy with the results.

Coughlin did a great job, and we were very satisfied with the work. I would recommend the company to others as well.

I have mixed feelings about the service. They left a big mess, and there was broken stucco all over the ground. They trampled the plants right near the window that was replaced. I called them back and they did come clean it up. The windows looked fine, and they were pretty personable people. If I were to do it over again, I would use a general contractor.

Coughlin is wonderful! They sent a supervisor to take measurements, then had the installers come out and do the work. Once the job had been finished, the same supervisor returned to inspect the work and ensure I was satisfied. Furthermore, everyone on the staff, including the office personnel, was extremely polite and professional

This is my first review on Angie's list and I appear to have dealth with this category above.

We wanted the upstairs bedrooms to have stronger windows with safer locks that couldn't be reached easily by children. All of our windows are sliders with the pinch lock near the bottom. We obtained quotes from a few places; they were approximately the same overall (though different windows/sizes/options differed a bit, the totals amounted to something similar). We chose Coughlin in part because of their guarantee/warranty, and in part because they were being offered by the manufacturer a deal where we could get laminated windows at the same price as tempered glass - a little research online confirmed that these are a step up in terms of safety and are particularly recommended in areas such as hours with wildfire risks, so we went with it. Throughout the process, I emphasized that one of our main goals was to ensure that the windows could be locked in place high up on the window, and that I wanted to be able to lock it in the closed position but also slightly open since we like to leave windows open at night but not wide enough for children to get through. I was told the locks (I think they called them cam locks) would allow for this. This turned out to be the only issue in the process. The installation went smoothly and quickly - installers were here on time, did the work, their manager came to check the work and showed me how the cam locks worked, and all seemed well. When I went to experiment with the cam locks, seeing how they would lock in the open position, I discovered that they did not do that. They were fine when the window was completely closed, but they didn't lock in any open position. I called them to discuss, and they were very responsive. They contacted the manufacturer to see what could be added to allow for that type of locking mechanism. They found that could install something similar to what you typically see for locking screen doors at the top of the door, for what seemed a pretty reasonable price ($25/window), and I'd be able to choose how wide I wanted the the window be locked but open before they installed it. So though I was a bit annoyed that this feature hadn't been included originally since I had specified it multiple times, they did respond quickly and had it done within a couple of days.
