Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" for $200. Unfortunately, it had an expiration date that escaped my notice. Consequently I misplaced the receipt and have not contacted the firm. If and when I do locate the receipt, I will try to get some resolution. As always, let the buyer beware.

Description of Work: Before I purchased the big deal, I called the company to make sure I was correctly reading all of the fine print. I spoke with Daisy, who assured me that the work would cover most 2500 sqft homes (a two-story), and mine is 1000 sqft. She said if there was any residual, it should be minimal, in the low hundreds. Today the service adviser came to my home and informed me that the cost (without even changing stucco) would be an additional $3000. The coupon was $2999. I thanked him for his time and promptly called Angies List to return the coupon. The adviser who arrived was professional, certainly not rude. Unfortunately, I believe he is a sub-contractor and couldn't discuss the price or job with me. I believe I did my due diligence before purchasing the coupon, but it seems like I've been taken advantage of. I prefer not to leave feedback on Angie's List for this company. The only good thing I can say is that everybody I spoke with (the scheduler and the adviser) was polite. I desire to simply return the coupon and part ways with SOD Builders. Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to continuing to do business through Angie's List in the future.

Description of Work: We had an original estimate of $1400 to replace the cement behind our bedroom. When we saw this deal for $599 to do the same work we bought the deal. When SOD came out to look they told us they could not do it for $599 but would charge us $2500 instead. If we had known it would cost that much we would not have ordered this deal.

Description of Work: I had purchased a previous painting coupon from Angie for a exterior painting from "Sunny Boy Inc." for $995.00 that was for 1600 square feet of exterior painting. This was good for one or two story dwelling, wood work prep included. That was a disaster' I wrote a review. on them , you want the details. A couple of months later , I received a call from someone at Angie's list. That person was aware of my bad experience with "Sunny Boy Inc." and was offering me a second chance to get in on a similar coupon deal for a house painting. They informed me that it was "SOD Builders Inc." and they were highly rated on Angie's list. The coupon was new and I was one of the first they were offering it to. The price of the coupon was $1299.00. All the other details were similar to that of the "Sunny Boy Inc." coupon. I was still in the market to get my house painted. I thought that the coupon represented a good deal. I bought it. I called "SOD Builders Inc." and set up a appointment for a final bid. I knew that my house was probably more than 1600 square feet, and was prepared to pay extra if necessary. The young man from "SOD Builders Inc.", was on time and presented himself very professionally. The first thing he wanted me to understand was all though 1600 square feet sounds like allot, it really isn't. That being said, we proceeded around my property and exchanged ideas of what I wanted done ,and what he could do. When that was done he did the math and said he could do my house for $4300.00. I told him he was here because a coupon offer from Angie's list. The price on the coupon offer sounded like a good deal. The price he had just quoted me sounded more like a bid. I told him that I never make a commitment on any project with just one bid. We parted ways. I later called Angie's list and explained my experience with "SOD Builders Inc.". They gave me the option to buy back the coupon. I took it. I finally did have my house painted along with 3 other homeowner friends of mine. We used a painter who had done work for one of us on a prior occasion. The company was Dalton Painting out of Fountain Valley. They did a great job and it only cost $3000.00. I highly recommend them.

Description of Work: First I have to wait two weeks for an appointment to come to my residence to review what I needed and provide an estimate. Then three days before the appointment they call to confirm and make sure that my partner and I were both going to be present. This was not going to happen because of work related travel but my wife would be home and fully aware of what was required. I got the usual "we really need both of you present" which is an obvious indicator of a pending hard sell where they want a commitment that day. I told the woman that was not possible and I also did not want to reschedule as I had already been waiting two weeks. The appointment was confirmed for Sunday between noon and two. On sunday my wife was home all day and no one showed. We finally were called on Wednesday to attempt a reschedule. My wife was told that the individual came to our house and no one was home which is blatantly false. Obviously my business and our time was not valuable to this company in all their dealings with us.

Description of Work: SOD Construction fixed existing blemishes from from aging on the house, sanded, primed, color primed and masked all of the windows. Then painted the trim and exterior walls of the house. They also dug a trench around th\e base of the house to prevent future damage from water seepage that had occurred in the past. Overall and in detail, they did a great job very quickly and professionaly. I would highly recommend them to anyone. John Rose

Description of Work: Called for a quote, arranged time and date. No show for time, I called office and they said that someone else was with me and so they left- apparently talking to more than 1 contractor to get a quote bothered them. High prices quoted, and vague- "does not include interior repair" - when I asked they would not give me a price for that. Oren's attitude when he came out was surly and unfriendly "how many guys did you talk to today?" - in a challenging voice. Really not worth the time, avoid.

Description of Work: I called sod builders based on an Angies list big deal for exterior painting. I knew that I had additional prep work involved and wanted to know how much extra from the deal it would be. He came promptly to give me a quote. I was told that I did not qualify for the big deal and he gave me a price that I felt was expensive for the job. I felt that they were builders and any carpentry work needed would be covered, that was a plus. I went with a different PAINT company that did an excellent job. What I did not appreciate, and what I felt was very unprofessional was when they called to see if I had decided on the job and I told them that I went with another company I was told that I could feel free to call upon them to fix the other company's work.
