There were some challenges as this is an old house but they did what is best for the homeowners safety and comfort without sacrificing both quality and beauty and financial integrity. The outcome was all outstanding and we recommend the group of Joe and Oren and their staff with excellent rating and above expectation in their service.

Oren came to give me an estimate (which was extremely reasonable) and then started the job the next week. I was ecstatic when he told me he could start so soon as we had already been through a 3 month run-around with an another contractor. His crew showed up as expected and did a wonderful job taping up and prepping the bathroom (which is en suite to my bedroom so had potential for a lot of dust in the bedroom). The demolition was done carefully with a minimal amount of mess and was cleaned up thoroughly every day. Oren helped me pick out new tile - he is wonderfully responsive. He likes to text and will text you questions and respond quickly. It is a great way to communicate during construction as it is efficient and brief. I decided to change some hardware and Oren's crew accommodated me when I had to wait for the new tub filler to arrive. He had his plumber do the hardware work for me and cut additional tile to fit around the new tub filler. He also put in two shampoo/soap recesses in the walls at no charge. Another contractor quoted me $300 per recess. After the tile was complete, the entire bathroom was re-painted (which I wasn't sure was included but no extra was charged). It was a successful project with as little pain as can be expected during a remodel. I would happily work with Oren and his team again. On a side note, while my bathroom was underway, my mischievous 2 year old accidentally locked herself in my bedroom. The fire department had to use a crowbar on the door casement to get her out. Oren replaced the casement, patched the door and re-painted it all. When I asked him what I owed him for the door, he told me to pay him whatever I want for that work. He's a nice guy and a dad too so perhaps he felt sympathetic. He didn't have to do that though.

No work was done because they decided at the last minute not to show.

Carlos arrived right on time (in fact he was a few minutes early! ) with a wide grin. I showed him the worst areas and asked him to go around the rest of the house and do additional repairs as necessary. Without supervision, Carlos patched areas that I didn't even notice. The repairs were excellent and the house looks great again. If you ever need stucco or other repairs you couldn't engage a better company than SOD builders. Additionally, ask for Carlos. You'll be very happy

I emailed this company and got an immediate response by phone (good start). She offered an appointment for that coming Sunday at 2-4 p.m. (I was surprised they were willing to work Sunday, and even though I had plans, I rearranged them to accommodate the time/date they were offering). The Friday before our appointment, SOD called me to confirm. This is going great! Sunday rolls around. I had completely rearranged my schedule. This included chucking plans that I had made weeks in advance. 2 p.m came and went. 3 p.m. came and went. No calls from SOD. 3:45 p.m. At this point, I got the distinct feeling they had forgotten and I was gonna be stood up.Called the office. No response. 4 p.m. Officially a no-show now. 4:30 p.m. Called the office, again, no response. I had now successfully managed to ditch my plans FOR THEM, wasted 2.5 hours waiting for them. That's another thing -- a TWO HOUR WINDOW for a mere quote appointment??? Seriously? EVERY contractor I've dealt with has given me a time or a half-hour window. No one has given me a 2-hour window. This is like the freaking cable company! Monday morning: I called at 8:30. NO RESPONSE. I then emailed them. SOD calls me back at 9:20 a.m. with a song and dance about how the project manager DID try to come but couldn't find my house because his GPS wasn't working. Seriously? Our community has been around for 30+ years. It's not a new or remote community that isn't yet on navigational radar. What about a phone call? Apparently, he didn't have my number because it was back at the office, which was empty on a Sunday. If you know that you're gonna be closed on a Sunday and there's no one there at the office for the project manager to call, why didn't you give him my contact info beforehand? "Because they can always call the office to get any info they need regarding the customer's contact." It's like banging your head against a brick wall with this reasoning. She even asked if she can reschedule. Seriously? And let you stand me up AGAIN?? I give them a D because 1) they actually responded to the first request, 2) they actually confirmed and 3) she actually called back after they stood me up. How can you be in the customer oriented business and not have an up-to-date GPS and the customer's contact info? If they just flat out told me that they forgot (which is what I think truly happened), then I would have respected them for telling the truth. I would still be angry, but I would at least respect honesty and the fact they owned up to it. But lame "GPS-failed" excuses not only anger me, they offend me. Insulting my intelligence. If you can't keep an appointment for a quote in an efficient manner, how can I trust you to work on my home?

We purchased the deal from Angies list. The company called me right back after leaving a message. The worker showed up on time. He painted some exterior trim and one of our bathrooms. He worked fast, was courteous, and did a good job.

Overall the project had a few bumps at the beginning but then ended completely to my satisfaction. I bought the Angie's List $5499 roofing coupon, but when I met with Rani of SOD Builders three weeks later he said my roof did not qualify because of the extra shingle layers. He gave me a quote for the roofing job, and applied what I had already spent on the coupon, and we agreed on a price. I appreciated that he gave me the Senior discount and was willing to work with me on the costs. I told him I wanted the crew to clean up the work daily to avoid too much clutter. Rani said they would clean up and move what they needed to move. Jose, the foreman, and his team began the tearoff of the roof on September 7th. Rain was predicted for September 10th so Jose returned at 8:00 p.m. the night of the 9th to cover the roof with plastic. I appreciated that he was proactive. A few days later the city inspector came after the old roof was taken off and the new wood had been installed. He told Jose that the crew had installed the wrong type of plywood, i.e. not coated for energy efficiency (which was the Code), and their choice was to redo the wood or install an upgraded shingle to meet Title 24 state sun reflectance and thermal emissivity requirements. The inspector let me know about the issue. I called Rani to find out how the company were going to resolve the issue. The company decided to upgrade to a shingle that had greater energy efficiency. I was more than satisfied with the new supplier (Malarkey), shingle and color. The Malarkey rep came out the day after installation began to check on the shingles. He even stopped the work because the batch of shingles that was delivered showed discoloration and was defective (not SOD Builders' fault.) Malarkey took full responsibility so all of the defective batch was removed from the roof and replaced with a new batch the same day. All went smoothly after the issues with the wood and the shingles were resolved and a new foreman took over for the installation. Through the process the roofers did the best they could to clean up. I liked that they walked around the house at the end of each day to pick up debris, and installed a tarp in the garage to catch falling debris during the roof tearoff. The painters did a great job sanding and painting and I was very pleased with the outcome. Juan, the foreman, recommended that I use a trim paint brand that was both primer and paint, and longer lasting than the paint brand I had chosen. It turned out looking great. He also used a wood patch that effectively covered any flaws. The painters were meticulous in replacing some of the damaged siding, cutting back a large Bougainvillea plant that covered the front porch, and doing the painting. The doors especially look great. Juan also asked me to check their work at various stages and was very professional. They did the job I expected. Rani recommended that I have termite work done but I decided to postpone that based on not seeing any active problem and on the cost. Another crew replaced the rain gutters and was also meticulous. The gutter over the front porch had not been level to the ground and they were able to install a new gutter that was. I chose a color that matched the paint on the house and it looks very similar. All in all I was very happy with the work done by SOD Builders. The company president stopped by briefly to ask if I was satisfied with the work in progress. Rani kept in communication, checked the work often, and made good suggestions. The office called after the work was done to check my overall satisfaction. I could probably have gotten the work done for less but I appreciated using a company that resolved problems quickly and maintained good communication throughout the project.

Oren and his team did an excellent job with the demolition and rebuild of our garage and now guest house!!!! Not only was their work top notch but their prices were very fair. We will most definitely continue to use SOD Builders for all of our future construction needs.

SOD Builders was, hands down, the best contractor I have ever hired, and consistently showed quality and courtesy - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Oren and his team were professional, polite, and took pride in their work. I was referred to them by my father, and am so happy that I was. They did an excellent job, were always available for questions, and had great recommendations. I had a general idea of what kind of changes I wanted, but the team brought the expertise and vision I needed to get the job done. Oren and his team did the work in time, and within the timeframes promised. I will definitely be hiring SOD Builders again. I am very impressed and would easily recommend them to family and friends.

Julio and his partner were great to work with. The were detail oriented and also went the extra mile to make sure my kids could get back in their rooms the same day, dividing the work so those rooms were finished first. Very thoughtful!

Painter was very pleasant and professional. Knew what he was doing. Quite efficient and got the job quickly.

Oren and his crew were hired based on their reputation. we were looking for someone to do some work in our back yard and build a state of the art gazebo with a fire pit, which will be the natural part of our home. I must say Oren's bid was definitely not the lowest we got, but based on the reviews, our meeting, the feeling he gave us when he walked in our home it was an easy decision to make and no doubt in our minds it was the right one. Throughout the whole process we were informed on the stages, no surprises, the guys were always polite and cleaned up before they left, Oren was available and answered every question we had along the way. The end result is amazing, exactly what we have hoped for a beautiful gazebo,with a fire pit stamp cement where we can sit with our friends and enjoy. Since this project went so smooth and we were so happy with the result, we already started our second project with SOD Builders & Oren, Building a guest house in our back yard........ I will update on this project when it will come to an end ( plans are looking great:)

They were on time, very quick, and work was well done.

SOD did a really beautiful job on our bathroom remodel and addition of a laundry closet. To start, they gave us the best estimate and were the only contractor who offered a creative (and effective!) solution for how to add the laundry closet into our home. We had a couple of hiccups but they are very professional and worked hard to get every last detail right. Their guys (who are all SOD workers, no subcontractors, which I liked) work extremely hard and went almost nonstop until the end of each day, and everyone was friendly and polite. I was especially happy with their painter and would definitely want to hire him back for any interior painting. His work was flawless. Our project manager, Joe, went well out of his way to make sure our bathroom vanity mirror looked exactly the way we wanted it to, and it was no small feat. He also took time to patiently answer every question I had. Oren, the owner, stopped by on several occasions to check in and made it clear they wanted us to be 100% happy with the project. I look forward to hiring them again for our next remodel.

Overall it went well. Not perfect, but well. They offered a Big Deal, and I called to see if I could have them come out to confirm the price before I made the purchase, since I wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be an hidden costs. They had no problem with that. Rani came out and took a look. However, I have a two-story that requires a 20-ft ladder, and neither he nor I had one, so we weren't able to get on the roof when he came. He gave me the deal price, but added an extra $300 , since he estimated that the roof was 1900 sq ft, and the deal was for 1800 sq ft. He told me the price would be adjusted if the estimated area was wrong. The estimate he gave me included 30-yr composition shingles. The cost of the permit would be extra. I also decided to install two turbines for circulation. I asked Rani which brand and model of shingles they would use, and he told me Timberline, HD or Natural Shadow, which actually have a lifetime warranty. He told me that they would probably be able to start the following week, but it turned out to be the week after that. They obtained the permits. The three-man crew arrived on the agreed-on date. However, the head of the crew did not know anything about Rani's and my discussion about the type of shingles to be used. He was not familiar with the term HD or Natural Shadow, did not seem to know that Timberline had different models. We also had trouble communicating, as English is not his first language. But eventually we determined that he would get the HD shingles in the color I wanted. The job went quickly. They started on Tuesday and were done on Thursday. Each night they did clean up, although some scraps were still left around on the driveway on the side of the house. The inspector came out mid-way and at the end--no problems. I climbed up to inspect the job myself. Everything looked good (from an amateur's point of view, anyway). I also measured the square footage of the roof , and found that it was less than 1500. Rani then contacted me about payment. I reminded him that the estimate was based on 1900 sq ft., and advised him that the area was less than 1550 square feet. He said he would contact the office. When he came to collect my check (they weren't set up to take Visa), he told me that they in fact bought 1900 sq ft of shingles. When he gave me the estimate, my understanding was that the deal was based on the square footage of the roof, not the amount of shingles purchased. But I supposed it wasn't clear. In any event, my advice is to make sure you know what your estimate is based on. He told me that he wouldn't object if I wanted to subtract the $300, leaving the call up to me. (I decided to pay.) Overall, I thought they did good work and got the job done quickly.

Liran came out to look at the job, we talked several more times as he developed a design concept, very different than we originally had in mind. His ideas were excellent, he has very good design instincts. The job took a little longer than was scheduled but the results were very satisfactory. The workers were all very pleasant and easy to work with whenever I asked them to do things. THERE WERE NO COST UPPERS FOR THE JOB. They did the work they promised for the price they promised. Can't say that for many other contractors that I have dealt with in the past.

Working with SOD builders has been a really good experience. We took bids from 3 Angies List contractors and finally chose SOD. We did so for several reasons, we reached out to several past clients and asked for their feedback, we liked the bid price that came in far below the other contractors, we also like Oren and Liran. In the end we are pleased with the results. We had a really small shower stall in our guest bathroom, literally 3? x 3?. We had room for a 3? x 5? wall-to-wall shower, which we carefully planned out to include a bench seat, a built in shampoo shelf and a tile scheme we really liked. We wanted a glass stripe of tile running from the floor to the ceiling and use the same tile as a backsplash in the shampoo shelf. We really liked the 12 x 24 inch tile we chose and the stainless steel edge we chose. The job took about 1 ½ weeks from start to finish, we did run a couple days over due to some delays with the tile store, so at the end of 2 weeks the shower was being used. The demo took one day, we had to move the water source from one side to another, move the shower drain which involved tearing up the concrete foundation, hot mop, floating concrete on the walls, setting tile, grouting, baseboard installation, painting, custom shower door install, shower lighting, automatic humidity vent and the list goes on. We began by meeting with Liran at the tile store and his eye for design helped guide us in making the perfect tile choice for our taste. Oren was involved at the job site showing up periodically to check and make sure the work was being performed to his satisfaction. The tile setter was meticulous in his detail making sure his work was its finest. I was able to text Oren photos of things I was not 100% sure on and he would come out and instruct his employees how to proceed. Joe came out a few times as well and was very good at making sure the work was performed in a timely manner. There were many workers involved in the job from David and his son installing glass, 2 electricians, 3 guys to demo and one tile setter. I may be leaving someone out but the crew worked hard. Other than the tile store delays that in the end was not too big an issue as we had our shower done by the time our guests arrived we are very very satisfied by the work performed by SOD builders. I would recommend them to anyone that asks as a formidable contractor that will see the job through as quality control is clearly imperative to the owner and SOD builders employees.

We are extremely happy. Would use them again for other work.

Pretty well. They did not use the advertised paint, but claimed theirs was better. Who knows?
