Eran (Rani) Hafner and his crew did a terrific job providing a new roof and gutters for our home. His systems are robust (SOD uses Basecamp to track their projects), the work was punctual and efficient. Rani is a former Vegas magician; he brings an easy-going charm to his work and customer interactions. Only detail I could criticize is his promise to install gutters with covering screens. When these did not arrive, he ultimately explained that the screened gutters were defective and they had stopped using them. Would have been fine to promise less in this case. Rani is clearly eager to please and to build his business; I am confident that he will succeed.

I was really impressed with "Daisy", she was very professional, level headed and courteous. Unfortunately I am unable to say the same for the rest of the organization. It took several months from the time I bought the 40 hour coupon to the time I met with the project manager, the man was very non-chalant, almost dis-interested in the project. It was another couple before the painter arrived on site, although I was told it would be two painters for two days, 1 painter arrived the first day, 2 the second day and 1 painter the third day. I had planned on having painters on site two days not three, I was expecting company the third day and had to change plans. To make a long story short, I sent the project manager an email asking him to end the job before they met their commitment. Needless to say, these folks will never be on my property again...

They arrived, they painted, they cleaned and left.

It went very well. The painter sent by SOD builders came and spent most of the morning sanding and refinished the deck. He got mostly 3/4 finished with the first coat of paint so I had to pay extra for the rest of the painting but the work was excellent so I didn't mind. When it was finished the job was excellent.

I purchased a Big Deal from Angieslist for $299 for Exterior Stucco/Plaster Repair or Installation, which consisted of 8 hours of labor. Cracks and missing plaster that had existed since the Northridge earthquake had gotten worse and new cracks had appeared over time, so I was glad to be able to purchase this deal. I called SOD Builders to make my appointment. The woman was very pleasant and profession, but explained that they were quite busy, so I wasn't able to get my appointment until about a month later. I asked if I needed to be present during the work and she said I didn't, but suggested that I take pictures of the work I wanted done and email it to them so they could estimate how much material would be required. I took the pictures, but never emailed them to them. SOD Builders called the day before my appointment to confirm and said that the worker would arrive at my house between 8-10a. I mentioned that I hadn't emailed the pictures and they said that it was alright. The next morning, Darvin arrived at 7:30a. When I commented that he was early, he offered to leave and come back, but I told him that wouldn't be necessary. I showed him all the work to be done and he asked if I wanted him to also paint the repairs. I declined since I plan to have the entire house painted at some point. We decided to meet at Home Depot so that I could pay for the materials with my credit card. When we returned to my house, Darvin got right to work. By the time I was ready to leave for work, he told me that he might need more material. We agreed that he would buy what he needed and leave me the receipt to send a check to the office later. Later that afternoon, I received a call from the office and, apparently, there had been a misunderstanding about how to pay for these extra materials. When I explained what I thought Darvin and I had arranged, the office was very accommodating and said that although they don't normally do this, it would be alright. The woman (sorry, I don't remember her name) asked if I was happy with the work and I explained that I hadn't seen it yet. She asked me to try to take a look within the next few days and let them know if there was anything I wasn't happy with. I did mention that Darvin was very pleasant, diligent and professional. I'm very happy with the work done and everyone from SOD was pleasant, professional and seemed truly concerned about doing a good job.

He arrived on time and did the job beyond our expectations.

Got to the house @ 8:00 AM sharp painted / cleaned / left.

This was a rental house. The tenants did not report any problems (and these tenants will report any problems). The job was done quickly and competently and the cleanup was exceptionally good. It has not yet rained, so I cannot yet speak to the waterproofing, but the overall appearance of the roof is very good. Rani, the project manager, went out of his way to be helpful and accomodating. I will use this company again when necessary.

They were on time. Very good work and very clean job site. It didn't seem like the management had explained to the employees what was expected time wise (40 hours), but the workers were very good and responsive once told.

I had to change my review. When the job was first finished I was asked by the painters to fill out a review sheet and they stood by while I filled it out. I didn't feel comfortable to be completely honest. It was only after they left that I discovered that they have painted over the outlet panel covers, very unprofessional. So at first glance the work looked good but on closer examination it was sloppy, complete areas were missed. I thought I could have done this job not professional painters. I was disappointed. I called and complained and the company did offer to send out more painters to fix the problems but I ran out of time. My renters needed to move in.

Great, great, great. Carlos was quick, cleaned up leaving no mess and thorough.

It went extremely well. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. They went above and beyond making sure that the their work would last for many years to come. Any painter can just slap some paint on a building to make it look nicer, but, if the work is not done properly you'll have to paint again much sooner than necessary. Their attention to detail was great and they made sure that we were kept informed all along the way. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for the same work.

I purchased a Angie's List special (40 hrs of labor). The owner came by and checked out what I'd like done (painting the eaves of our house. Then I arranged a date for painting. Since the eaves can be high up (safety concern), two painters were sent. They got the work done in two days. On the first day, I went over with them what I needed done. One then went to purchase all the material (paint, tape, covering, etc - they gave me the receipt and I paid separately) and the other started the prep. work. They did a good, clean job and did it quickly without making a mess.

The painters were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 1. At 8:00 sharp they came up to my house and we discussed the work that would be done the first day. One of them then went to Home Depot to purchase paint and supplies while the other began doing some prep work for the patio cover painting. They were both very personable and hard working. By the end of the first day the patio cover and some inside painting were completed, and the following morning we went over what other areas would be painted. One of them again went to Home Depot, and the day went as well as the first. They were very easy to work with, and best of all, they were very good painters. I also appreciate that they provided me with helpful advice. I am extremely happy with the quantity and quality of their work. I would definitely use them again.

These guys have earned good reviews from me. They mostly get things right the first time. More importantly, they have corrected when the work left a little to be desired. I probably should have reviewed them earlier as they earned it earlier and my memory has slipped somewhat for the earlier work. Great job on a extremely difficult job repairing a floor laid down earlier with a discontinued product. Match is spot-on. Paint and install of floor boards is pretty near perfect. Recent work was stucco patching. I mentioned in passing in an email that I thought I was a smidgen short changed in regards to the number of hours worked for that job and I had some wishes regarding improvement in the quality of the bluenosed corners around the entrance. My complaint was probably fairly subtle as I don't like to complain all that much (wife's department). They contacted me immediately even though I said 'it was not that big of a deal' and worked with me to make sure I was 100% satisfied. In the end the stucco work is ready to go to paint and I didn't spend a fortune getting it there. I didn't have to b****-n-moan about it either. THESE GUYS WANT TO BE PROUD OF THEIR RESULTS and want you to be satisfied. These guys gave me special treatment and I hope to return the favor in return somehow. Character is something that comes to the surface in those times where everything doesn't go just right. These guys have that.

Our old, disgusting kitchen was in desperate need of a remodel. We wanted everything replaced as well as two of the walls removed so that the kitchen would be more open to the rest of the house. Oren and his team were great from the beginning. He gave us his initial quote and a completion date before he started and he stuck to both the entire time. Naturally, lots of issues/fixes appeared during the remodel (since we went down to studs and it's an old house), but Oren always took care of everything and never charged us more. I've heard horror stories about contractors adding costs along the way -- that never happened with Oren. His guys did an incredible job gutting the kitchen, replacing the floor, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, painting, tiling, rewiring, building a new pantry, removing the old walls, installing new support beams, everything. His crew changed often, but everybody was friendly and cleaned up as best they could at the end of each day. There were a few things that needed to be done more than once since Oren was not present every day to supervise (we had a countertop installed wrong, some crooked outlets, etc.). That said, Oren ALWAYS immediately fixed the problem at no cost to me as soon as possible (and nothing delayed the completion date we were originally given.) Speaking of -- Oren was always easily available through email (he uses Basecamp), phone, texting, etc. We never waited more than an hour for a response to our question or concern. In addition, we liked Oren and his team so much we also had them replace our galvanized plumbing under the house and our electrical panel. Both were his suggestion, but the decision was left to us, and we never felt pressured. All in all, I think the pictures speak for themselves. Our kitchen was dated and unappealing and SOD turned it into our dream kitchen at the initial price they promised and by the time they promised it by. Oren was always easy to work with, his guys were friendly, and we couldn't be happier with the finished result. We definitely plan to use SOD Builders again.

We are very pleased with the quality of their workmanship and as a result we used them again to fix a roof issue.

After 40 years I decided to remodel my kitchen. Believe me?.it was the kitchen from h***. I decided to join Angie?s List so I could search for contractors with satisfied clients. I came across S.O.D. Builders and the reviews were great. I especially was drawn to the one that said that if I was looking for a contractor to look no further. I sent a message to S.O.D. Builders via Angie?s List and received a call back the next day. Liran, the project designer, came the next day. We discussed what I was looking for and he proceeded to draw up a marvelous design. It involved completely redesigning the layout of the kitchen. Liran told me that if I needed help picking out the tile for the floor and the backsplash that he would go with me to help with the selection. The work was started immediately and by the end of the first day my old kitchen was completely gutted. I was surprised how quickly the crew worked. The house was built in 1952 and still had the galvanized pipes, so we decided to have it all replaced with copper piping. Also at this time, I decided to have S.O.D. install HVAC (something that I have always wanted) and also a tankless hot water heater. Joe, the project supervisor, was wonderful to work with. He seemed to go out of his way to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. He was always there to reassure me and to take care of any of my concerns. Oren came by at the beginning of the project and again to see it after its completion. Oren, Joe, Liran, and everyone in the office are definitely the best people to work with, and I fully recommend them.

Work was done as expected with good quality and completed ahead of schedule.

The cost to paint the house was much higher than the Big Deal, right around $3900.00. However, he said that I didn't really need to have the house repainted. He just recommended that I have it pressure-washed, which I did appreciate. There just seemed to be a lot of add-ons, over what was stated in the Big Deal.
