I spoke with Dale from SOD Builders Inc. I feel that they were efficient. I felt he was honest and straightforward and I thought the job was done well. I had inquired about a deal but my roof was bigger than the deal was for. So I did end up paying more than I thought I would have to.

Accessing the job was the first thing that was done and Guy clearly understood our desires and helped us when we needed questions answered. Demolition went smoothly and the mess was picked up and taken away after they were done. Tar paper, wire, and insulation was the next step in the project and they did a very neat job and it looks great. It is ready for the first inspection. That is as far as they've gone. The next step will be the plastering and I look forward to seeing the finished project which I'm sure will look superb.

On the positive side, I will say that I had phone contact with a salesperson named Daisy several times. She was very friendly and helpful and was always quick to return my calls and find answers to my questions. We set up an appointment for a project manager to visit my house and go over all the details. I don't know which project manager visited my home since he didn't bother to introduce himself or tell me his name. We looked around the house together and he explained that the existing tex cote would have to be sand-blasted off, which is an additional expense. That's definitely legit, as the previous owners did a shoddy job and, after only 3 years, it's coming off the exterior walls. So I knew I was in for more than than the $2,999.00 offer. I was pretty shocked, however, when he told me the price would be $15,355. I asked him if it costs $12,000 to sand-blast, since that was the difference in the advertised price and the quote. He explained that the promotion is only for 1,200 square feet and my property came up to 3,586. They charge $2.99 per square foot for everything over 1,200. Fair enough, but the small print on the promotion says that 1,200 square feet of stucco area "will usually cover homes up to 2500 square feet in size." My home is only a 1,500 square foot two bedroom house. There's also a garage that factors in, but that still seems like quite a variance. I'm not sure if he crunched the numbers wrong or if the estimated stucco surface area to square footage ratio in the promotion is just completely off base. But even then that puts the cost of the stucco job at $10,038, which means they charge over $5,000 to sand-blast. That seems steep to me. When I told the guy that we weren't prepared to pay $15,355 for a job we thought would be around $3,000 he just sort of shrugged and left. I'm guessing this company usually deals with big jobs in high end areas and our fairly modest working class house wasn't of much interest. I definitely didn't get the sense that this nameless mystery man project manager gave a flip about earning my business - or even explaining the price breakdown. Disappointing. I guess the search continues for other estimates. UPDATE: After posting my original review, which gave this company an overall grade of "D," I received a phone call from someone at SOD asking if the owner could come back out to have a second look. Owen came and re-measured everything. He was able to crunch some numbers and offer a better price. He explained that the portion of the Angie's List offer that estimates that 1200 square feet of stucco usually covers 2500 square feet is not accurate for California houses that are all stucco, and that his company did not put that language in the coupon. Wherever it came from, the language is misleading. He acknowledged as much and said he wished it wasn't there. At this point, I'm not sure if we'll move forward with the re-stucco job or not. But I do appreciate the company's concern to maintain a good reputation and good customer relations. I appreciate that they responded to my negative review and took the time to come out to explain things further.

We did not use the service.

It went only ok. We did receive some verbal input on design, i.e, "you could do this, or that" and then when the building company contractor came he just quoted an estimate price for entire project. No measurements taken, no details on estimates, no plans, no written ideas, which all were not promised. However, overall didn't feel any professionalism to win us over to get our business.

Oren and his team did a fantastic job. They were much cheaper then other contractors and compared to some other people working around the house doing other small jobs they were more professional and courteous. My emails were answered promptly, and the things that were in need of touch up or redoing were adressed without complaint and very quickly. Over all, yes, the job did take longer then expected, but this was to be expected as these things always go like this, what was great about the delay though is that there were no other costs added. The job was quoted at a certain price and even with some minor modifications by me, it stayed within the budget. My only concern, and it is very minor, is that the finish of some things is not as perfect as I want it. Please note that this only concerns minor things, like certain corners where the tile meets paint, alignment of fixtures connecting water to the faucets, and a little unevenness in caulking, paint, and grout. But then again nothing is perfect. To anyone interested, in redoing their bathroom look no further then SOD builders, they will do a great job, adress all your concerns, and will probably be cheaper as well.

The contractors were late as they didn't have supplies even though I asked they be provided as an extra. I purchased the paint. Hardly any prep work (cleaning/sanding) was done prior to painting and I had to have them redo sections because of it. Paint is now peeling in areas when no prep was done.

Great experience overall. The contractor was online and did a great job.

Part of our side yard was concreted by Hector. This section included a drain, which made it a little trickier. Hector was very personable and did a great job.

After initially contacting SOD Builders thru Angie's list we received a prompt response and we scheduled an an site meeting on 01/14. Oren showed up with his designer Michele at the appropriate time. They both seemed very knowledgeable and understood what we were trying to accomplish with our project. They both offered up suggestions and possible improvements to our original ideas that made the situation feel like a good fit for us. Michele said that they would try and draw up some rough sketches for us based on our designs and asked if we could provide a few more examples of what we were looking for. On 01/30 after 2 weeks without hearing anything from Oren I emailed him for an update. Oren stated that Michele never received the examples that were discussed. Due to some miscommunication on our side the additional information was never sent to Michele. Once this was realized I promptly sent the requested info the same day. On 02/05 I finally received a response back from Oren that based on the information we provided he would like to provide us with an estimate before any time was taken to design anything for our project. This was a reasonable statement as we wouldn't feel comfortable either with them spending time and effort on a potential job that wasn't even agreed to yet. I responded back promptly that that was fine by us and we looked forward to his estimate. Fast forward to 02/14 I still hadn't heard back from Oren so I asked him for an update (this was all on the same email chain that showed the previous correspondence below each new message). Oren stated that he had never heard back from me on his wish to provide us with an estimate, yet my request for an update clearly had my previous response directly below saying to proceed with the estimate. On 02/25 Oren responded asking "do you want this estimate includes all material and equipment?". I never realized that there was an option to get a quotation with out the necessary "material and equipment", that's odd. I responded the same day to include all of the materials and equipment necessary to complete the job. On 03/05 I still hadn't heard back from Oren so I asked for an update. This time Oren responded promptly stating that "I am waiting on some numbers, I will have it in your email box no later than Monday" (03/11). So today is now Wednesday 03/13 and guess what, STILL NO ESTIMATE! How hard is this to come up with? It's an estimate, not a contract, just estimate so we can move forward! This has been a seriously frustrating experience with a so called "experienced builder" that is unable provide a simple estimate after close to 2 months of waiting. Our budget for this project was in the area of $75,000 and would have been an annual contract with more features being added each year. What a serious disappointment. **UPDATE 03/18** After this review was posted Oren contacted me to apologize for the delayed response. He informed me that there were 3rd parties involved on the bid that held up his end of the quotation. This is understandable and the review has been updated to reflect this. It would have been in his best interest to reach out to me in the first place with updates instead of me always contacting him. Overall the experience could have gone smoother, but Oren was professional in his follow up once the problem was apparent.

Not good experience. Poor workmanship. I would not reccomend them or use them again

What happened was that before we called them, we had a rainstorm and it did some interior damage in the master bathroom so I called them and asked them how soon they could do the work and they got somebody out like the next day. They repaired the whole area where the leak had occurred. We had hired them previously to do the shingle portions of the roof so we knew what the quality of the work was. The fact that they got out so quickly shocked me. They started on a Saturday.

SOD Builders repaired a large section of stucco that was cracked and chipping off my garage. When repairman arrived, he inspected my entire home and garage exteriors to search for any additional locations needing attention. He repaired several additional locations for no extra charge!!! My only additional cost was for the materials, which they disclosed during my initial consultation with them. They followed-up with me to be sure I was satisfied with the work. I'm much more than satisfied! They are professional, prompt, honest and very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend them. I'll use them, without hesitation, when I need any more repairs done at my home.

I purchased a contractor for a day Angie's List and used it for some odd and end jobs around the house that I didn't feel comfortable doing. I was able to schedule and appointment easily and the contractor showed up on time. He was extremely friendly and even helped out on some additional projects as he was able to finish the originally scheduled work ahead of time. I thought the quality of his work was excellent and I would hire SOD again for any small or large project.

I am very pleased with the work that SOD did for me, especially the design and build of the wet bar and outdoor bar/ bbq area. SOD was able to translate my ideas into sleek and functional entertaining areas. While the project took longer than originally anticipated, it was mainly due to my own indecision or delays on the part of other contractors I had working in the house. I must give special thanks to the project coordinator Joe who was always available to answer even my most inane questions. Thanks, Joe! I would use SOD for future renovation needs.

We were very impressed with her punctuality and knowledge. We are strongly considering SOD Builders to do our Master Bath.

EXCELLENT. From start to finish Oren was a pleasure to work with and his crew was always polite and punctual and absolutely cleaned up after themselves each and every day. My neighbors had no idea we were doing such an extensive job in our yard. We would highly recommended SOD Builders if you are looking for any type of job and we are actually in talks right now about moving inside to start the interior.

My experience with SOD Builders ("Painter for a Day") was very positive. I was able to schedule an appointment without any difficulty. Margie was careful to explain what materials I would need and what the painter would provide. Carlos arrived promptly and worked throughout the day in an efficient and thoughtful manner. His preparation was extensive and contributed to the overall quality of the paint job. He was careful to cover all cabinets and appliances before beginning to paint. I was very happy with the results of his work.

Carlos and Luis was pleasant & hard working. They were neat - the job looks great!

They gave us a very fair estimate for the two jobs and completed the work on time and in accordance with their contract. We were very pleased with this company and recommended them to our neighbors.

Called for a roofing teardown and replace quote. Arrived on time, and gave a fair price. Professional, and followed up to answer questions. Didn't hire because I had to delay the project completely due to unexpected circumstances.

I purchased a coupon for $1000 for one week's worth of painting. I was asked if I wanted one painter for five days or two for two days. I asked for the former, but got the later. Regardless, the work was excellent top to bottom.

This company exhibited extreme professionalism from first contact. We reduce our scope of work and decided to go in-house, but we will definitely use this company again, and look forward to a working relationship with them. J.Aguilar for Luxe Hotel
