However the scheduling of the first and second visits presented some confusion, due to the communication errors of the company's administrative assistant. The owner, Mike, was very efficient and professional and provided me with some referrals of other home repair professionals.
Description of Work: Mike provided an estimate during the first visit. A second visit was scheduled to install an under the sink water filter system.

 + -1 morePlumber had to go to get a particular part and had to drive for some distance and he didn't charge extra for that. The owner of the company showed up and took my questions with great patience. I felt like he welcomed my questions rather than make him feel annoyed. He even thanked me for my questions. His willingness to answer my questions was a high plus for me. The price seemed fair.
Description of Work: They came yesterday and day before. They were courteous and professional. They did some plumbing on one toilet, replaced another toilet and replaced garbage disposal. I would recommend them to others and I would use them in the future.

 + -1 moreI called the company on Saturday, late morning. I was told they could be here between 8 & 11 Sunday and that if they could come later Saturday I would be called. The plumber came at about 10:30 on Sunday. He was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable and didn't tease me because I had checked only the bolt on one side and not the other side! The whole thing took less than 30 minutes. I think their pricing is average. I usually expect to pay at least $100 whenever I call in an expert. Single female here, so that happens more than it would if there were a real 'fix-it' person around. With the information he shared with me I feel I got more than what I paid for.
Description of Work: I thought I had a leak from an upstairs toilet. Mike explained the function of the gasket (I knew it was there but had a wrong idea of what it was supposed to do!) and checked it. It turned out that the 'leak' was from a loose bolt in the tank-Duh!!. He tightened both bolts, reseated the unit, and sealed it properly. It had not been sealed properly. No damage, but plenty of peace of mind for me. Was not looking forward to tearing up the flooring.

Description of Work: Steven fixed two leaking toilets, diagnosed the problem with a sink stopper and recommended calling the manufacturer for a free replacement part, replaced a garbage disposal (allowing me to run out and buy one while he worked other stuff), diagnosed a possible solution for a sprinkler problem and got the information needed to give me an estimate on the cost of installing a spigot on our second story deck.

 + -1 moreVery poorly. I initially emailed to the address listed on Angie's List - and never did receive a response. The very next day, I called to make an appointment, and mentioned I had emailed also. The receptionist took my number and said she'd call me back in 1/2 an hour. About 2 weeks later, she called. I set the appointment for an estimate because of the excellent feedback on Angie's List. He came, was very friendly, courteous, and listened to what I was asking for. He left, stating I'd have the estimate the very next day. About a week later, I emailed requesting the estimate that had never arrived. About a week after that, I finally received the estimate. After I had already hired another company to do the job. I very likely would've hired this firm, had they been timely in providing the estimate in the first place. Estimated cost was $3,800.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreBesides knowing how to fix my water heater, the technician gave me many wonderful tips about plumbing all over the house. He was a very personable fellow without being 'chatty'. It was a very enjoyable experience and the cost was much lower than we expected. The Angie's List discount of $25 was nice too!
Description of Work: The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the problem--one of the 2 heating elements had failed. He turned off the power, and drained the tank while he went to the store for the part. He returned quickly, replaced the part, and got the hot water going again. All work was performed within the 3-hour window they estimated.

 + -1 moreDidn't call first before arriving the first time, but did the second and third time. I tried to get by without replacing the sinks because hope to remodel soon, but rust made that impossible. Sinks were $60 each with clips which was very fair. They look great! If your sink is rusted at all (look underneath) don't try to replace the pop up drain, just leave it alone. Labor was more because I kept changing my mind and adding more work which was done at the next visit. The toilet problem alone added time to the labor. Most houses would not require the labor time this one did. Accept credit cards but charge 3% extra to use, so I didn't.
Description of Work: Our house had years of neglected plumbing repairs. Steven fixed everything in three visits. Installed a kitchen faucet Lowe's item # 165129 Moen brand, and two bathroom faucets including pop up drains and new supply lines and shut off valves delta brand Lowe's item # 227164. installed braided metal washing machine hoses he provided. Installed toilet, supply line and shut off valve I purchased and two toilet seats he purchased. Repaired 3 hand held shower heads. Fixed Moen on/off controls in bathtub. Installed two undermount bathroom sinks which he purchased at a plumbing supply which I really liked. The toilet was a nightmare, two other plumbers had worked in the bathroom, one replaced a toilet and yet it leaked and ran. Steven ordered a toilet footprint from plumbing supply, evened out the uneven floor and no more running toilet for the first time in years. the labor discount for Angie's customers really helped us, because this house is a pain, nothing is standard and costs more labor

 + -1 moreBonnie and I played a bit of phone tag at first, but finally managed to speak directly and scheduled a visit for an estimate. Mike arrived on July 13 and provided an estimate for the leak repairs. He also discussed other plumbing concerns I had and provided estimates for those as well. He stated that he would have Bonnie call to schedule the work for July 16, but I did not receive a call. I called Bonnie in the afternoon of the 16th to see when I was scheduled for and she said she did not have me on the schedule. We scheduled the work for the 18th. Mike performed the work on the 18th. We had some problems with the replacement pipe cracking and Mike having to come back out (twice), but Mike finally found a fix that stayed fixed. Final cost was higher than estimate, due to cost of parts. Mike did not charge me for additional parts when initial repairs failed.
Description of Work: Fixed leak in both front yard and back yard sprinkler manifolds.

 + -1 moreThese guys are great! They communicate well, they show up when they say they will, they don't gouge your pocketbook, and they are very professional. We will be using them again tomorrow to install a new hot water heater. I would highly recommend them at this point. (Will write again after the hot water heater is installed, for an update.)
Description of Work: The plumbing technician came out to fix our dripping shower head. He fixed it quickly, and as a bonus we never expected, he was able to trace the reason why we have been finding little bits of white plastic off and on clogging up our faucets and the shower head. It turns out that a plastic pipe in the hot water heater has been degrading over a period of time, and that was the source of the problem.

 + -1 moreMy catastrophes tend to occur on Friday nights! My wash machine drain overflowed & toilet & bathtub backed up. I had checked Angie's List beforehand & chose The Plumbing Therapist to call with confidence. Their website (via Angie) stated no-extra-charge for nights/weekends, but I decided to get a nights sleep first. I sent an email that I would call Saturday afternoon. On rising, I found an email response from Bonnie & called to schedule an appointment later that afternoon. Stephen came to the rescue on time & provided as pleasurable an experience as could be had. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him while he worked. Stephen was friendly, experienced & considerate & has a lovely Irish accent & sense of humor. It s a relief & a comfort to have Angie's List to find The Plumbing Therapist. (Don t ya love the name?) I d never heard of not charging extra for nights/weekends/holidays. Description of Work: My sewer clogged & backed up into toilet & bathtub. We and the plumber unsuccessfully made extensive efforts to identify a sewer clean-out, but I'd anticipated needing to replace/update the sewer line as most neighbors had to do so already (an addition to the future estimate). Since no sewer clean-out could be located, the toilet had to be removed to be able to snake-out the clogging tree roots thru the toilet opening. Afterward, the toilet had to be reinstalled. Stephen additionally changed the flapper to stop a small leak & replaced the flexible water hose (no extra charge) & did acceptable cleanup from the splattering. He also recommended regular use of a tree root killer to avoid such problems in future. I also asked about an estimate to complete the conversion to copper pipes left half-done years ago from my last disastrous plumber experience. (So of course I've been paranoid ever since.) Stephen recommended having the owner Mike inspect my quite involved situation.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreIt was great to work with someone who listened to what we wanted and took the time to do the research. Mike found the best water heater for us for the best value. Mike and his staff/technicians were very pleasant to work with. Very knowledgeable and willing and happy to answer questions. Sometimes the return phone calls were a little slow in coming, but not unworkable. Once the unit arrived, it was installed less than two days later. We only had a little clean up to do afterward, not a big deal. The city inspector easily signed off on the permit the following day. We have the water heater we want at a fair price and we can actually recommend the company. Thanks Plumbing Therapist!
Description of Work: Mike gave a free estimate for the replacement of our 15 year old water heater that started leaking several months ago and then it stopped leaking. We knew the time was at hand. I had done some research and handed him a list of the features that I thought would make the best replacement. We needed a high quality tank since we also have soft water. We also wanted higher efficiency considering the cost of natural gas getting more expensive every year. Mike found a State Premier 50 gallon natural gas unit with a 10-year tank and parts warranty and an EF of .63. It shipped from the factory and when it came in he took out the old unit for recycling at the local dump (helps relieve our trash guilt) and put in the new unit and updated it to code.

 + -1 moreMike showed up on time and was professional from start to finish. Told me what was wrong, gave me a a really good price, and then went to get the parts needed. Came right back and finished the job very quickly. I cannot tell you how pleased we were to be rid of the odor in our bathroom.
Description of Work: Mike repaired four toilets in our home. Needed flappers, seals, etc. One of the bathrooms had the odor of urine for the last eight months and no one could solve the mystery. Dave pulled up the toilet and found it had been seated improperly thus solving the mystery.

 + -1 moreI wanted to try another plumbing company as I felt for the jobs I had done, they were all over priced. Bonnie Denico, the office manager, was very professional when I called and she took my information. She gave me a time between 2:00 and 5:00. I should of asked if I would be called when he was on his way as I waited and waited and Mike did finally show up a little after 5:00 pm. He did apologize and did not charge me for his services which I thought was very fair. He was very nice and offered me advice on products to purchase at a hardware store so this problem would not reoccur.
Description of Work: Mike unscrewed a part of the tub drain and using pliers pulled the metal drain piece out of the tub. He removed all the hair that had collected over the past several months.

And hey, I received a call hipping me to the impending lateness, so no worries on my end. Work was done a week later, at the price that I was quoted and the issue and work was done quickly and cleanly. We loved our experience with these guys; any plumbing issues we have going forward, this is the company we're calling.
