Description of Work: The central heat and air unit in our home was nearly thirty years old and in need of replacement. After reading reviews and comments in Angie's list I was impressed by what I read about Huft Heating and Air so I called and scheduled an appointment with Ryan Rawson to come out to our home to give us an estimate. After completing a very thorough inspection of our existing unit, ductwork, and the physical dimensions of our house he gave my wife and I a very detailed analysis of what was needed to bring our home up to current standards. We were quite impressed with his background, his technical knowledge and his ability to identify problems with the design and installation of the existing unit. He was able to explain what he thought needed to be done and why. We were very comfortable with what he suggested as well as with the estimate he gave us to complete the work. The installation crew showed up a bit later than expected but worked h****** the installation and structure modifications outlined in the estimate. The overall installation of the heating and air conditioning unit was competent and complete. Where Huft fell short was in the finish work around the main air intake vent. The calking around the metal grating was sloppy and incomplete necessitating my doing it again myself. Also, there were hand prints and dark smudges on our white walls around many of the air ducts throughout the house. I was able to remove these marks on most of the walls with 409 cleaner. However, two walls required repainting to remove the marks. In addition, several vent registers needed to be replaced. Measurements were taken and I was told that new units would be ordered and installed when they were available. That never happened. In fact, once the work was completed there was no followup by Ryan Rawson or anyone from Huft. On major projects, remodels, and purchases such as this, I usually receive a followup call checking to make sure everything was working correctly and to ask whether I had any questions or concerns. I did receive a form letter thanking me for my business. In all fairness to Huft I am satisfied with the overall quality of the installation of the furnace/air conditioning unit and the price. That said, the finishing work, care taken with my home during the installation and followup were poor. | | | |

Description of Work: It was an excellent experience from the first call to Huft, to job completion. |I wanted my air conditioning unit moved from the side of house, where I park my rv, to the back of my house. I was quoted a price of 1200.00. Not only did they do a beautiful job, the service man noticed a new thermostat I hadn't yet installed. He volunteered to install it, at no extra cost. |The only change I would have liked would be bringing tarps to cover my floors and clothing in my closet, where the attic access was located. |I will definitely hire this company again.

Description of Work: I had to purchase a new AC unit. The reality is they are all expensive, but $5900.00 and then I got the $500.00 rebate from SMUD. Huft was prompt and professional, since my old AC died on me when it was 104' outside. I was also able to use their portable AC unit my new AC unit was installed. Efficient and works perfectly!!

Description of Work: AC stopped working during a hot stretch of days. Another service provider thought the thermostat was at fault. It wasn't. The Huft technician found the faulty connection in the unit that the first company should have found, and Huft got it fixed the same day I called them.
