This is the first time I've used this business, which I used because of their "Big Deal" offer on Angie's List ($70 for two inspection calls). Because I wasn't home at the appointment time, my husband met with the technician. My husband reported that the technician was very professional, friendly, and explained things well. The office secretary, who answered the phone, answered by saying, "... How can I make you smile today?" This, of course, made me smile. Terrific! I'd use this service again in a heartbeat.

The entire staff was friendly and very responsive, all the work was done on schedule and accommodated very quickly. The installation was completely professional. Great company to do business with!

2012-01-21 update Huft returned a couple more times since original installation after calling about one of the zone dampers still not fully closing/opening even after replacing the damper motors during the original install. They ended up replacing both zone dampers as originally requested with no hassles. Huft was great again and did the work at no additional charge at their insistence. 2011-12-13 Original Post Huft did an excellent job and we are very satisfied with the price, installation, and customer support. We would use again and recommend to others. We obtained three estimates and felt most comfortable with Huft though they were in the middle price wise. They were the only company that took the time to measure rooms and windows to size the HVAC system and discussed heating and a/c optoins before making proposal. Things I wish I would have known prior to installation though probably would have done the same thing anyway regardless of HVAC installer. * ask about venting options and vent noise if vent your new high efficiency furnance out the side of the house instead of the roof. The exhaust vent can be heard from about 50yds away on the side of the house with the vent which could be an issue for your neighbors if they are close. Apparently this is a common issue with high effeciency furnace of which there is no solution once done. Huft did come out to try to quiet it by changing from a T vent to an L that is pointiing up but we really don't notice a difference. * ask if your new thermostat can take advantage of communicating features if get a communcating furnance and a/c unit. Huft installed a basic thermostats which does not take advantage of communicating features of furnance and a/c. It would have been nice to know about other thermostat options prior to installation. * ask if current zone control system can handle variable speed furnance. That was overlooked in all of the HVAC proposals. We ended up needing to replace the zone control board since old one did not work with variable speed furnace but to Huft's credit they did so without increased cost. * ask for estimate with and without increasing the return size if proposal includes increasing the return size. Huft recommend increasing return size based on HVAC size estimate for house but installers recommended against it on day of install since it would have meant rafter changes. We did not have them increase the return size and they did not charge us for the new zone control board so felt that was a wash.

We called for a second opinion on heater service and Christopher was able to diagnose a much simpler problem than the $600 problem the other guy quoted. They were very prompt in getting the estimate/service (next day service) and he showed up right on time. I especially appreciated not being given the "hard sell" on a contract service like I've had with other heating companies.

They provide the maintenance regularly for our a/c units. They are very nice when we call them.

The company sent Ryan out quickly to give us the estimate for the job, he was very informative in explaining different heating systems. The system we received was not one we had been looking at, but ended up being a better system, a true 16 seer with a better warranty. The company came the same week to do the install. The guys were professional and friendly. The job ended up taking longer than planned and they stayed late Friday even when they had weekend plans trying to finish the job. They were unable to finish completely, they returned Tuesday to finish up. The system was exactly what my husband was looking for and took care of his concerns with cooling the house evenly. Great company, great people

They did a very good job. Jonathan and Kevin were the installers and did it all in one (long) day. They were friendly, patient, and professional. Everything was done to my satisfaction (with the one exception mentioned below) and everything seems to be working fine (both heat and a/c) - and much better than with my old system. My only issue was a water evaporation line from the air handler inside the house. Formerly it went into the concrete pad in the house foundation and discretely exited out of the house just above the ground level. The new line (PVC according to code apparently) now goes up from the air handler, into the attic and then across the attic - through the stucco outside wall about 15 feet off the ground. A PVC pipe then goes down the outside of the wall to just above the ground. It doesn't look good and there should be another way of doing this. No option was offered. Maybe it would have cost a few hundred dollars more to figure out a way to run it inside the wall until just above ground level. I would have paid it.

I have had the unit inspected previous which was estimated at needing $500.00-$600.00 worth of changes. They were able to tell me that I did not need certain things done and were willing to explain and educate me on the process.

I can't say enough good about this company. The unit they installed in 2009 works wonderfully - keeps the house at a much more even temperature. Their service is excellent - professional - and caring - from Kay, in the office, to Bob, the service tech. Bob was the tech who had come out when I first called them for an estimate on a new HVAC system - and he remembered parts of our conversation from almost two years ago. I was very impressed.

Appointment was made in a timely fashion. The technician, Steve, arrived promptly and performed his work in a professional manner. Although we had not been aware of any problems, we had decided to check out the system before listing our home for sale. Steve discovered an early leak in the heating unit capacitor, which he explained to us and got our authorization to replace it. I would definitely recommend this technician/company.

I want to give them the highest grade. They were great. The system is running terrific. They have a great customer service. They are very professional, very reliable, and very customer orientated.

The owner totally rectified and took care of the problem. The original visit didn’t go very well. The guy was uncomfortable working on the problem that was in the air conditioner. He couldn’t do all the diagnostic work that he was supposed to do because it was raining and lightning. He was recommending me to get a new unit which was going to cost me between $5000 and $8000. He left and I didn’t agree to buy a new unit. It bothered me for about a week and I still didn’t have a working air conditioner. I called them back and told them about my experience and what I was purchasing in the original fee was diagnostics, but I never really got diagnosed because it was raining and the guy asked me to buy a new unit. They told me that it was not right and that was not the way they had trained their guys. They asked me to let them come back again. The owner came out and took care of the part that needed to be replaced and not the whole thing. The owner took a lot of pride and concern and took care of it. Their price was fair. They were very responsive. The guy and the owner were very professional. I would use them again in the future.

Huft Heating and Air is one of the most responsive service companies I have ever encountered. They installed a new, much more efficient heating and air conditioning system in August of 2009. Their prices were in-line with all of the bids, but with a better system with a much better warranty, so we decided to stay local and go with them, in part because of the wonderful reviews we saw on Angie's List (in fact it was during this time that we decided to join Angie's List). We have had the semi-annual service to maintain the system and have always been impressed with the technicians doing the service. However, my true test of the quality of a company is how they respond to problems. During this past 4th of July weekend (2011) we had a problem with our air conditioning stopping because of a fuse that kept on blowing. They came out 3 different times during the weekend including on the 4th of July to do a temporary fix until they could completely resolve the problem. I could not believe that not only did they answer the phone all throughout the weekend but they were also able to send someone out. The problem happened again on the 5th of July and the technician was able to take the time to troubleshoot all of the potential causes and believes he may have found the part that was creating the short. The part is being ordered and I am absolutely confident they will take care of it as soon as they can. Their slogan is they are not just pros - they are heroes and I very much agree!

Each step of the way the experience was pleasant. The office staff and the technician were helpful and professional. The technician saved us money and fixed the system in a single visit. And, although our system is old and he was politely honest about it, he did not try to pressure us into replacing it now. It is also worth noting that we are a business so we had time constraints for the service call that they were able to meet even though they were busy and having to fit us in on a hot day. We were very happy with the service and will certainly use this company for all of our heating and air needs.

The air conditioner seems to be working fine; I don't know about the heater because it is very hot outside and I have not turned it on. The installers were polite, friendly and seemed to be quite competent. They did install smoke detectors in each bedroom without mentioning it. I didn't know what they were until I called their office. I understood the lady to say that they were carbon monoxide detectors. However, I later found instructions in a box that indicates they are, in fact, smoke detectors. Not a big deal but I think they should have discussed it with me before installing them. Overall, I was very pleased.

My appointment was originally scheduled for last week. Unfortunately, one of their trucks had some issues and the appointment needed to be rescheduled. The representative from Huff Heating was very gracious and apologized for the inconvenience. I appreciated that she called me right away and allowed me to reschedule the appointment for Wednesday, May 11th. I received a phone call on Wednesday alerting me that someone would be arriving for my scheduled appointment. 15 minutes later, Lanny came to my house. Lanny was wonderful to work with. He easily explained everything that I needed to know about the issues I was having with my air conditioning unit and answered any questions I had. He was very polite, friendly, and professional. He described to me in very easy terms what needed to be done. He also alerted me to some facts about my air conditioning system that I wasn't aware of, like the fact I would be able to adjust temperatures on both the top and bottom floors of my house. He was able to fix the issues I had with the air conditioning unit in a timely manner. He also pointed out to me some issues I may have to take care of in the future such as a fan being replaced. I was given an estimate of the work that would need to be done for future reference. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Huff Heating & Air Conditioning. I was fortunate enough to use the $70 coupon they had for Angie's List customers for the work, and it was definitely worth the price.

They were good. We were satisfied with them. They were willing to work with us on the price. He seemed really honest, and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about. We liked them. We found them on Angie's List.

So we discussed it and decided to get another price. The gentleman who came made a remark about train equipment and I look for professonality and he just didn't present himself as someone who was fair. I don't see bath mouthing another company becuase of their equipment. I went with Buckley Parnell because he was the most professional.

This is a great company! They were on time, knowledgeable, conscientious and professional. The installation went without a hitch. In fact, our new heating/air conditioning unit was in and running by 3pm the same day. Our last experience with a different company left us feeling suspicious and uncertain. However, we immediately felt at ease with the Huft representative. It was obvious he knew what he was doing. Finally we felt here was a company we could trust. They have done everything right. Because our last heater/air conditioner installation in 1994 was so poorly done( in fact that company went out of business) we have waited a few months to see how our new HVAC would do. It is perfect. We are thankful for Huft. This company is reliable, affordable and best of all, they know their stuff. In fact my mother's heater is currently having trouble and we're using Huft. They are the best!

Excellent service from beginning to end! Both office staff and technician were friendly, efficient and professional. Tech was able to come out same day. In fact, I was provided a two-hour service window, and I received a call asking if tech could come half an hour early! When tech arrived he promptly inspected thermostat and heating system, diagnosed the problem, clearly explained to me what needed to be done, and completed the necessary work. There was an immediate improvement in the temperature. Will absolutely use this company again. Look forward to having them service my AC come come April. A++

My house and original heat pump are 23 years old. I did considerable research (Angie's List, BBB, performance and repair ratings of various brands, etc.) before I narrowed my list of potential contractors to two or three. I got a very warm return call from Huft Heating and Air the same day that I left a message, Thanksgiving evening! We arranged to have a sales representative visit the following weekend. The salesman accommodated my work schedule and was very affable. I thought I wanted a Trane heat pump, or possibly a Rudd or Rheem, but I was told that the Maytag was the only heat pump to have a lifetime guarantee on the compressor and that Huft Heating & Air would further back-up their work. Huft Heating and Air once again accommodated my schedule and installed the new Maytag the following Saturday. I was trying to get the installation done before the end of the year and the end of a rebate and an available tax credit. The two installers came between 8 and 8:30 am, just when they said they would. They covered their shoes with plastic shoe covers and put down tarps to protect my carpeting. Though they said it could take the whole day to install, they finished about 2 pm. What I very much appreciated is that Brian Huft answered all my technical questions and was even enthusiastic about explaining how the heat pump worked. I had seen the work done recently by another contractor to a house very similar to mine, and Huft's work (pipe connections, sealing of air leaks, etc.) looked considerable more professional. After a few days I noticed that when the thermostat was set to "fan only", the fan did not come on. It was serviced within a few days at no charge of course. I called for required paperwork for a rebate yesterday, and was once again greeted with a friendly, helpful person. The paperwork was delivered the same day and I managed to get the system inspected the next day. Huft Heating and Air went above and beyond anything I expected. The reason I gave a B on price is that I have one neighbor who got a 3-ton Rudd heat pump, bigger than my 2.5-ton, from another company, and he paid $2000 less than I paid. However, the exemplary service and, I think, workmanship, as well as the lifetime guarantee on the Maytag compressor help ameliorate my concern about paying more. I already recommended Huft Heating and Air to one neighbor who then had the same Maytag installed.
