My KitchenAid french door refrigerator began leaking water from time to time about two months ago. I did a lot of research on the Net and managed to narrow down what the problem probably was. I still had 6 months to go on the warranty, but the warranty company had only one company that they used for KitchenAid repairs in my area. I researched that company and found that they did not have good reviews. So I checked Angie's List and found Gary at General Refrigeration. When I called him, he asked me to describe the problem and he was at my door in less that two hours. He knew from my description of the problem what parts were needed and brought them with him. (I'm happy to say these parts were just what I had also found described on my Net searches.) He installed the replacement part in less than an hour. Then he noticed that the coils could use a cleaning and showed me how to do that in the most efficient way for this model. Knowledgeable and professional service in every way. I give Gary and General Refrigeration highest marks!

I was originally referred to Gary by another service provider as they didn't service Oakland. My initial call was to troubleshoot as my freezer was not staying cold. Which I re-booted (unplug/plug) the refrigerator and worked just fine (several months ago)! But then this past weekend, right before I was heading out of town, the refrigerator & freezer went completely out. And today I had to jump back onto Angie's List as I couldn't find his number. It turns out that Gary (General Refrigeration Services) is the 1st one on the search!! When I called, his number popped up in my phone plus then I recognized his voice and told him of my issue, he said he would come out after I got home from work (530p). What a relief!! After inspection, it looked like the mother-board and starter unit went out. He had the parts so he replaced both, but while making sure everything was working it turned out the new mother board was faulty, so he put in a new one again. And this time around everything worked great and I actually didn't need the starter unit. I really appreciate his diligence in making sure the refrigerator was working properly!! It was great to know that other service providers recommend him!! He's very responsive and calls you back right away!

We discovered our refrigerator was warm on Labor Day morning, we called Jeff, he rewponed within an hour, we explained the situation and his concern is our food will go bad, thats why he came on Labor Day. He removed anad replaced the coil which was causing the problem, and cleaned up after he was done. We are very pleased with his service.

Haven't done my troubleshooting yet, but Gary gave me great feedback that will help me fix the issue without incurring any cost.

Determined cause of problem. Had needed part on his truck. Refridgerator/ freezer repaired in less than 30 minutes. This wasn't an emergency and I was calling to make an appointment for next week. Gary said he had time same day and could be at my home in a short while. I agreed and he showed up when he said he would. He immediately diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote and said he could complete the repair right then and there as he had the part on his truck. 20 minutes later, he was done and the refrigerator was back in working order. Gary also shared some advice on maintenance and what might have caused the issue. He was very polite, friendly, thorough and efficient. You can tell he knows what he's doing. I was really impressed.

Fantastic experience. Called them at 8:50 AM, and Gary (I think that's his name) answered, asked me what the issue was and my address and said he could fit me in after his current job was over. Less than 30 minutes later the doorbell rang. He was friendly and professional and fast! Had everything dealt with and gave me some advice about a water/icemaker issue I was having and was done by 9:30 AM. Would definitely use again and will refer to my local friends.

Gary answered the phone when I called Refrigerator and Freezer Repair. He called me before the service call and arrived promptly. He repaired the ice maker and had the part and tubing needed to do the job on his truck. He was professional and delivered great customer service.

Showed up within 45 minutes of call. Unloaded items in freezer. Defrosted ice build-up and replaced the defective part. Loaded items back into freezer.

We worked with Gary Cain, the owner and I believe sole employee at this point in time. We called him when we woke up and found that our LG refrigerator wasn't working. He was kind enough to juggle his schedule so that he was able to come to our house in about 3 hours after we called. He kept us informed during these 3 hours as to exactly when he would be showing up at our house. Eventually he gave us a 20 minute window, and was at our door at the very beginning of that window. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing and fixed our refrigerator very quickly and effectively. Above and beyond that he saved us $200-300 or so by soldering a new fuse above the old one on the mother board rather than replacing the entire mother board. He was clean, courteous, professional, etc. I was very satisfied with Gary's service and would recommend him without any hesitation.

I called Gary at 7:30am and he made himself available for service this morning within two hours once he heard that I had foods spoiling, showed up on time, was pleasant, respectful, professional, quickly assessed the issue, ran to his truck for the part, and made the repair in less than 30 minutes from arrival.

My LG refrigerator had suddenly stopped working. Upon talking to Gary and describing the symptoms he suggested the problem will most likely be the mother board. He took some time to research and confirmed to me the price of getting a new board and installing it in. I was hopeful that there will be a simpler fix by replacing some fuses. I requested Gary to come over and take a look. He told me upfront that a diagnostics visit will be $55. He promptly arrive in time, did a quick check with the multi-meter and confirmed that it's indeed the fuse on the motherboard. LG's design is very bad in that they make solder the fuse firmly into the mother board and hence needs a replacement. Gary advised me that I could do the replacement myself and showed me how to go about it. I ordered the part myself from Sears.com and got it done in a few days soon after it arrived. Am very impressed with Gary's professionalism in providing the best advice he can as a technician. He was willing to try out an alternate fix on my insistence and even went to the local Radioshack to cost it out and told me that it will not be worth doing. Thorough professional. Will highly recommend his services to all of my friends.

He saved me a ton of money by telling me my problem was very simple, then explained how it was only a matter of resetting the temperature control in the deep freezer compartment, which had accidentally gotten lowered getting food in and out of the freezer. I didn't realize that it was the controller in the freezer that was the main control. If he had not been so honest he could have charged me a lot more than the basic service call charge). It is this is the kind of honesty and integrity I really appreciate. I wouldn't hesitate calling him back anytime I needed service on my refrigerator.

We called and left a message and got a call back within about 10 minutes. On the phone Gary was very friendly and responsive, and I felt good about making an appointment with him. We did not have to wait long for an opening. He was even more friendly in person. He was courteous, experienced and professional in every way. Would definitely use him again. In fact we tried to - and he suggested that the repair may be more expensive than it is worth for the age of the freezer. Very honest.

I discovered the freezer was freezing and the refrigerator was warm. That afternoon after work I called the company and spoke with Gary, the owner. When I told him I had to be at work at 8am in the morning, and he said he would try to rearrange things to come early, maybe by 7 and was it ok to call and let me know in the morning. He called in the morning and was able to come at 6:45. He promptly got to work and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the parts with him and replaced the circuit board, defrosted the freezer coil, and had everything back together in 45 minutes. During that time he gave me useful information about how to keep the refrigerator running smoothly. He left and I was not late to work. Unfortunately, I did not arrive home from work until late, and it was not until the next morning that I discovered the refrigerator was still warm. When I finally had a chance to call from work, he met my dad at my house 30 minutes later. He even unloaded the freezer and put it all back because he knew I was concerned about my elderly father doing any work. He did not charge for the return visit and said he would take care of anything else that came up and to call him. When I arrived home from work, all was well with the world- the refrigerator was nice and cold. I was very happy with the responsiveness, quick service and Gary making it right promptly when necessary.

The owner/serviceman returned my phone call within fifteen minutes and had me scheduled for a service call the same day within two hours of our conversation. The serviceman was prompt, professional, polite and most importantly, came well equiped with all the electrical components he needed to diagnose and repair the refrigerator. Within one hour of his arrival he had diagnosed the problem, replaced two electical circuit boards, restarted my refrigerator and freezer and repaired the ice maker. All for a very reasonable fee. He also struck me as remarkably honest. I would definitly use again.
