Stop right here. This is the company to use for refrigeration problems! We noticed the refrigerator/freezer was suddenly not operating correctly. The unit was running constantly, but only minimal cooling. So I immediately checked Angie's List for refrigerator repair. I checked capabilities and reviews, and selected General Refrigeration Service Company. I spoke to Gary, and scheduled a service call. He arrived within the specified service window. He was very polite and professional. I immediately had the feeling I had contacted the right company. Gary quickly diagnosed the cooling problem. The unit needed refrigerant, which he added on the spot. We were pleased to hear that no parts were needed. As Gary further checked the unit, he pointed out an ice build up in the bottom of the freezer. He took off the panels in the back of the inside of the freezer, and pointed out a significant ice build up on the freezer coils and a clogged drain. The resulting overflow was building up the ice in the bottom of the freezer. So he removed the ice buildup on the coils and on the bottom of the unit and unplugged the drain. The unit is now operating perfectly! I cannot say enough about the professionalism of Gary and his company! And the pricing was fair and reasonable. I certainly recommend him to anyone with refrigerator/freezer problems!

The temperature control on my Amana refrigerator went on the blink: The fridge was too warm, the freezer was turning all the frozen goods into solid bricks, and it ran constantly. My last experience with a refrigerator repair person was not good at all, so this time I made sure to find someone from Angie’s list. Gary Cain does fantastic work. He was prompt, curteous, diagnosed the problem quickly, and even had the replacement motherboard right in his truck! He explained the problem, told us what it would cost, and repaired the refrigerator quickly. He even warranties his work. I am so glad I found him. The fridge has been running for months now, with no problem.

I flew to Oakland from Souther Caliornia for my brother's surgery. He is a bachelor, so wanted to make sure he would be OK on his own after I left for home. One of the things on my check off list was to stock his refrigerator. I found his refrigerator not working! The day of surgery I was looking for someone to repair it. Gary responded quickly to my phone call. I explained the situation, and though he was busy that day, understood our situation and made the repair call for me. He kept me posted with regard to repair needed and how much it would cost. By the end of the day, the refrigerator was working. I was so grateful to be able to take care of this so quickly. Gary is honest and more than competent. I highly recommend him.

Gary is really nice. He assessed the problem, and had the part there on his truck. He pushed to re-arrange his schedule, since it was our fridge. He had good prices and saved us a bundle to be able to repair it, instead of replacing it. We like him and will absolutely be calling him again. I highly recommend him! It's so valuable to have someone that you can trust to do the job well.

I called and within an hour, Gary was at my doorstep. He fixed my fridge (replaced a pump & lines) and was gone in 45 minutes. Now that's what I call "responsiveness". He shared with me some tips re: watching for further problems (just in case) and was very professional. I would certainly recommend him to anyone with a refrigeration repair need.

Just amazing! From first call to a running freezer/refrigerator was an hour and a half. Gary was concise, specific and gave some great advice for our seven year old refrigerator. He was so direct and prompt. I could never imagine getting better service! Thank you!

I had an excellent experience. It started a year or more ago when I had called them about some issues with our refrigerator. Twice, they helped me fix different problem over the the phone by telling me to check a few things and giving me a simple DIY way to fix it. He never charged me for those phone calls. This time we couldn't solve it over the phone and he came out and fixed the problem and performed maintenance on my refrigerator within two hours of my call. It was excellent and prompt service!

Fantastic! I called and Gary answered right away (no voicemail). He was able to come same-day (within a few hours) upon arrival he immediately diagnosed the problem. Because he specializes in refrigeration, he had the parts I needed and he was able to make the fix right away, which saved time, the food in the 'fridge, and it saved a separate trip and that fee. He explained everything, was courteous and professional, and the work was quick and clean. Highly recommend!

All aspects of contact and work were excellent. I called because refrigerator had failed over the weekend, and he arrived in 20 minutes (of course, not to be expected every time). He repairs only refrigerators, and was very knowledgeable about ours; quick diagnoses and description of work needed. A motor needed replacing, and he had all parts in the truck -- carries a huge stock of parts with him. Work and adjustment of all elements was done quickly, and mess cleaned up. A totally professional job and guy. I would certainly use the company again, and recommend it without qualification.

Our refrigerator stopped working overnight and the stuff in the freezer was thawing out. We called Gary and he was here in a couple of hours. He diagnosed the problem (compressor stopped working), had a solution he thought would work to get the compressor going again, and had the parts he needed with him. He fixed it in a matter of 30 minutes or so and it has been fine since. Friendly and knowledgeable guy, great service, reasonable price.

My 5 year old fridge suddenly stopped cooling in the fridge compartment, though the freezer still worked. I called Gary on a Saturday morning and he came first thing Monday morning (even offering last minute to stop by on Sunday but I wasn't there). He was very nice on the phone, and diagnosed my problem within 30 seconds of getting to my house. He had the part on hand, and seemed very honest and experienced. His service visit charge is $55, which gets folded into the cost of any authorized repair. He says he only services non-commercial refrigerators, no other appliances, so he really is an expert in this field. He replaced a bad motor in my freezer with what he felt was a more reliable part, and was done in half an hour. He guaranteed his work and said he'd fix any unexpected issue that came up. My fridge is working normally again, and I fully and highly recommend Gary! A new comparable fridge would have cost me over $1000, and this entire experience was hassle-free.

We noticed water on the floor on return from a trip coming from our refrigerator/freezer. All food goods were defrosted. I looked on Angies list and picked the first provider: General Refrigeration Service because of other customer remarks and his close location. We called and spoke with Gary; told him our problem. He came out this morning and told us what the problem was. We needed a new electronic board. Since the Frig was only 5 years old he said it was worth our while to fix so we went ahead. Gary had the part on hand and it was installed in minutes. He was pleasant, friendly, and gave us our Angie's List discount. We were very happy with his service and will keep his card on file for family and friends. Our one disappointment is he only specializes in frigeration. We would have hired Gary for some other fix-its around our old home. Thanks to Angie's List for this fine recommendation.

When I first realized I had a problem, I just started looking on the internet for local repair people, I called one which was too busy to get to me far a couple of days. When I spoke with Gary after joining Angie's list, I was surprised that as busy as he appeared to be he would actually take an interest. At the end of the day he actully drove 60 miles +/- to repair my problem so I wouldn't have any more food spoil. Gary is dedicated, responsive, and clearly willing to go the extra mile (or 60 in my case) to take care of a customer. This is very refreshing in today's world!

The repairperson is Gary Cain and I think it is his business. He only works on refrigerators. A trip charge is $55, which sometimes he only charges depending on what he finds needs to be done. If he replaces condensers oar icemakers it is more. His service is excellent. He is responsive, very knowledgeable and he is extremely nice to work with. He knows what he is doing. He is responsive, efficient and knowledgeable. I will absolutely continue to use him.

One word describes the experience - SPLENDID! I made a morning call, expecting that someone would eventually get to the house and that the contents of the refrigerator were most likely going to wind up in the garbage or compost pile. Within 20 minutes, I had the owner working on my refrigerator! Most tradesmen and women wind up calling me, stating that they are lost and cannot find our house (GPS and map errors) but not he. After determining the problem, a computer malfunction causing the compressor to step-down to lower-than-required speeds to maintain proper cold, he worked out a game plan to make repairs and quoted a very reasonable price. Because of an unorthodox installation, he was presented with a couple of serious challenges. Still, he worked smoothly and efficiently, making modifications as needed along the way. Then came the surprise. It turns out that GE experimented with DC compressors and some of the refrigerators entered the retail market. Ours was one. Without batting an eye, a new plan of repair was worked out and much more extensive work performed to complete the process. My refrigerator was as good as new in no time. The stunning surprise is that I was not charged any more for the extensive repairs than had been originally quoted for the much simpler procedure and parts. I hope that my refrigerator lives out a long and productive life and that I won't been needing General Refrigeration Service in the near future, but I'm pleased to I have the opportunity to refer friends and associates to an exemplary company.

Helped me out in an emergency, arrived when he said he would, gave me a cost estimate ahead of time, diagnosed the problem immediately, worked around obstacles in my basement, handled everything in a professional manner. Finished the job in less than half an hour. He saved the day for us - very happy with the service.

He confirmed icemaker broken and told us how to fix it ourself as it was easy and would be cheaper than him buying the part and coming back. I'm not currently employed so this helped tremendously!!!!

Fridge stopped working Christmas evening. Left a message on Christmas day, hoping for a response before new year. Gary called the next morning, and showed up within a few hours. He quickly analyzed the problem, and had the part in his truck. He also provided maintenance tips to keep my old fridge working. The work was quick, clean, and professional. Three weeks later, everything is doing fine. While the price was high for the parts replaced, the quick response, good work, and pleasant professionalism made it worth the cost. No hassles, no worries, no problems. I highly recommend him.

I looked on line for DIY troobleshooting. nothing helpful to me. if refrig keeps running for another 8 years the all-inclusive fee of $250.00 is more than worth the price.

He is extremely knowledgeable. He is very nice to work with. He was extremely prompt and punctual; is usually out within a couple of hours from the time I make the call.
