Martes Refinishing

Octavio arrived a little late, but the office had informed me he'd be late. Old epoxy was peeling and I was concerned that the prep work would need to be very good. It was excellent.. Octavio spent almost two hours stripping and sanding before he used an acid wash and then recoated the surface. We have wood countertops and they were all covered with paper. Sink looks great!!

They're excellent, if something goes wrong they fix it immediately. Edit: They went out of their way to help me. They were on time, professional, and did all that they could. They tried so hard, I was embarrassed to call for a third time because the job was still not done right.

The Martes crew came on time, was clean and organized, and fast. No mess afterward. The crew returned a few days later to detail and finish the job. Excellent work, fair price.

He showed up on time and performed the job as specified above and beyond satisfaction.

They did a very nice job and we're very happy with the quality of their work. If you want any color other than bright white discuss this with the contractor ahead of time. Colors are apparently difficult to do and need to be ordered or prepared ahead of the job. Contractor was 2 hours late arriving at the job and there was a run in the paint when the job was finished. They would've come back to fix the run but we didn't want to extend the job due to the strong fumes of the paint, and the run was not in a crucial or highly visible area.

Both Doug and Mary were very easy to deal with. Their quote was straightforward, and Doug called when he was enroute to our house to confirm the starting time. Everything went as planned. There was a chemical smell, but Doug installed a strong exhaust fan to the outside and let it run several hours. There was no trace of the smell the following afternoon. The tub looks new - he did a terrific job and I'd have no hesitation to recommend his work.

Stellar refinish on our old bathtub. It looks like a new tub! Even gave us great advice on waterproofing our shower to get us ready for the bathtub refinish. Was able to match color of our new toilet.. Punctual and left no mess. You can?t go wrong here. Just fabulous!!!!

I wanted to see original sink before deciding whether to refinish again or not. They removed old paint and cleaned sink to a sparkling old finish, which is where I left it. Very courteous, did a great job and cleaned up after doing job. Arrived 1/2 hr late but made up for with the fine job. Would definitely recommend Martes.

All three jobs went well. The tub is nice and shiny, like new. There are no defects in any of the three jobs. Mr. Martes said what he would do and did what he said.

It went well. I found the provider and made arrangments very easily. Everything went off without any issues.

Doug was referred to me by another refinishing specialist who found the repair job to be beyond his expertise. Doug examined the severely damaged shower stall and came up with a creative way to remove and rebuild the bottom of the stall. Another contractor had recommended replacing the entire stall at over $3000.00 cost. The repair Doug did took a day to complete and when done was solid and cosmetically correct at one third of the cost of replacement. So far the shower stall with no leaking or signs of delamination. He also went to another apartment unit that had bathtub damage and repaired that for $100.00 in a very short period of time. I'll call Doug for any future jobs of this sort. Very pleasant to deal with!

The provider went above and beyond in order to make our tub look even better than new. It was in such sad shape before he started that I really didn't think anyone could make it look as new and as good as he did! Amazing work; worth every penny that he charged. Our tub is over 63 years old and it looks newer and better than the brand new tubs we see in the designer galleries.

Labor intensive preparations including deep cleaning of the tub and masking the bathroom thoroughly. Also replaced ancient overflow valve and completely rebuilt and replaced drain plug. The bathtub is better than new. Great work!

The job was beyond belief. The price was great. They were really excellant. They were courteous and so nice.

I called Doug in the evening, left him a message and he promptly returned my call the next morning. I described my needs and he asked me to send over some pics of the tub and shower. He promptly replied and gave me an estimate over the phone. There may be cheaper quotes out there but you really get what you pay for. He said he could start the job in about 6 days. I told Doug that I needed it done the next day due to my new paint and carpet installation arrangements. He promptly obliged and came to my home the next at the exact time we had agreed upon. I was actually several minutes late so I apologized and he was very receptive. Doug analyzed the condition of the tub, its walls and the shower. He told me the tub will need to be refinished but the shower only required a deep cleaning and recondition only. Talk about integrity. Doug went straight to work and later his colleague Roger arrived to help him complete the job. They were careful, detail oriented and very professional. I was completely happy with the result of the refinished bathtub and wall. I was also very happy with Doug's honesty and the cheaper job of just reconditioning of the shower and not a full reglazing. I have not used the tub or shower yet as we are still prepping our house for move in but so far so good. (*I've since used the bathtub and everything is good). Doug is a professional and one with integrity. A rare breed these days. I will refer Doug to my friends and family as I trust that they will be in good hands with him. Doug, you have a special niche because of your expertise, professionalism and your integrity. Don't ever change that!

Doug Martes came to my house to discuss bathtub and tile refinishing in February 2013. I was impressed with Doug and intended to use his services. He said he would prepare an estimate and get back to me. When I did not hear from him, I called him a couple of weeks later. He said that he had been very busy but would get back to me shortly with the estimate. I never heard from him.

They were on time, careful about cleaning up - very professional. Best of all they got the tub to look like new - way beyond what we ever expected including a five year warranty.

Doug was absolutely fantastic. We had an old tub that was very dingy and just could not get clean no matter how hard we tried. It was a beautiful old tub that we did not want to get rid of. I called around and Doug quoted me $400 which was in line with most of the estimates I got. There was one place that offered to do it for $250 but the reviews were mixed and I did not want to have to do this job twice. Doug showed up on time and was friendly and kind. He explained the process to me, took a look at the tub and said that his estimate of $400 would not change and got to work. He laid down drop cloths and treated our place with care and respect. He also did everything he could to minimize the smell from the tub. The work took about four hours, it dried over night and he came back the next day to clean up and make sure it dried properly. In the end, the tub turned out beautifully, it's like we have a brand new tub. You might be able to find someone who can do the work a little cheaper, but you get what you pay for, and Doug is a real professional who does top quality work for a fair price.

Recently completed a bathroom remodel, and discovered a crack in the acrylic tub before first use. The contractor was planning on wet sanding the scratch, but we were unconvinced this was going to repair the tub to our satisfaction. Contacted Doug who made himself available quickly to inspect the damage. Upon his review, he agreed the wet sanding was going to be inadequate, and discussed his recommended repair procedure. He started the work immediately, and also repaired some other scratches that occurred during the install. After a couple of hours, the crack was repaired, and Doug's superior craftmanship clearly was demonstrated as there was no evidence that a crack existed at all.

Everything went very smoothly.

Called for a quote and received a prompt response from Martes. Doug came over and assessed the work then gave a good quote for work to be done. On the appointed date, his crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up the work area. The job was well done and saved me having to replace a working shower and vanities that simply had an awful color! Very good experience.

They were very responsive and punctual in doing the job. I'm extremely satisfied with the outcome.

I was referred to Martes Refinishing by a third party, who told me that their friend used "Doug" of Martes Refinishing to do a job and that a review was on Angie's list. After joining the list (which I had always intended to do, but never got around to until a few days ago), I found the reviews for Martes and called the number provided, asking for Doug to call me back since his name was the one invoked in a review that I read. The next day, Doug called me back. I told him about the tub and asked for a quote. He was forthright and explained the ifs, ands and buts. He told me the more they had to sand, strip (etc.) the tub, the more it would cost, but no more than about $400.00. Doug sounded like a good guy and real person. I didn't even shop it. I just made an appointment for the next day. Doug showed up as promised. He and a helper dry sanded the tub (which I preferred and which is the proper way to do it, as opposed to using a stripping agent), cleaned up old caulk on the tub edges and abutments to the tile and then did their magic for the finish. He came back this AM and cleaned the up taped off areas, polished the tub and applied finish caulk lines as needed. Couldn't be happier with the high-end quality work. Doug is an exceptionally personable individual and is obviously as honest as the day is long. I recommend Doug and his company for tub re-finishing/re-glazing.

The repair was completed in less than two hours, and it does looks terrific. This saved me lots of $$$$. Doug is an honest professional and great guy. I highly recommend him.
