Martes Refinishing is great! Doug Martes is a pleasure to work with: quick to respond, punctual, professional, and does high quality work. After refinishing, what was a shabby old tub looks brand new.

All work was done as promised. Doug was easy to work with. After doing the work, he cleaned up completely. He also installed a stopper for a very small extra charge. I am recommending him to my neighbors.

Originally, the tub had some chips and mineral stains. It looks brand new now and the surrounding tile looks like new tile. His attention to detail was the best. He was very attentive to customer needs. Everything he did was self contained, the service was no mess. Other companies require the owner to remove the faucets and knobs. The owner would then have install the new faucet or call a plumber. This company did it all from start to finish.

The house is a rental that has just been vacated by the tenant. The bathtub had grime imbedded in the surface that would not scrub out, so I thought resurfacing was the only option. Doug Martes showed up on time and after checking out the tub, he told me that he thought he would be able to clean it and resurfacing would not be necessary. Well, he was right! It looks almost new. The best part was that instead of the $325 charge for the resurfacing, he only charged me $150. I am very pleased. He is a very personable and honest person.

I am very pleased with how the bathtub looks compared to the eyesore I had before. I've had other contractors (that are working on my rental) ask for a referral as they can also tell that the job was very well done. The proprietor was professional yet personable. I would not hesitate to use his services again.

Doug was wonderful! On time, his work was beautiful. And, he was a lot of fun! All in all, a job I had put off for years is now done and done well. I would most certainly recommend Doug.

He was waiting for me when I arrived at the house, proceeded to clean the tub with an acid solution, sanded down everything then primed and glazed the tub. He even put a non skid coat on the bottom. I will use them again for my sinks.

My tub was chipped after removing a glass shower door. Now it looks smooth, bright white and flawless. I had shopped around and had gotten quotes that were at least $100 higher. Doug's cost are not the lowest but they are reasonable and fair. He is very responsive, replying to calls as soon as he could. I built a lot of confidence in him as we discussed my on-going remodel with another company and he gave me very good tips on things to look for. He has a general contractor and specialty trade license so he's well qualified to advise on a lot. He even went the extra mile to bring some insulation to protect my copper pipes from galvanizing on other aluminum pieces that my original bathroom remodeler neglected to take care o and cleaned up a carpet-to-tile transition that the previous tiling company failed to do.

I called this company after finding it on Angie's List. The office staff was helpful and informative. The scheduling went smoothly and the owner completed the work on time and as promised. The job was done perfectly and he cleaned up afterward so there was no mess left for me. The scope of the work was to resurface the tub, but it turned out I also needed a new shower head. He had one on his truck and installed it at a nominal cost which saved me time and money. I would definitely use this company again and would highly recommend.

It went well. It was great. It was reasonably priced. It was worth it.

We had a fantastic experience working with Doug! My husband and I bought our first house last year--a 1964 ranch-style home. The previous owner never made updates to the house. The hall bathroom had the original pink tub. We couldn't stand the color and we always covered it with a shower curtain. We received bids for a complete remodel of the tub and tile from a few contractors. The bids ranged between $8,000 and $10,000?money we didn't want to commit to right now. So instead, we investigated re-glazing to make the tub look better, and to save money. We picked Martes Refinishing based on their good reviews on Angie's List and Yelp. And we're glad we did! Doug and Mary were great to speak with. They quoted us a price over the phone and answered all questions we had. Doug did the re-glazing himself. He was professional, courteous, fun, and had a sense of humor about things. He was also very considerate of listening to our needs. He suggested adding a non-skid surface to the bottom of the tub to prevent slipping. Safety is important for us as we are expecting our first baby this Spring. But Doug went beyond that. We've had a couple plumbers look at the the original pitted drain cover in the bottom of the tub. No one wanted to attempt to change it for us suggesting it would break and cost hundreds to repair. But Doug went to a shop and found just the right drain cover we needed and installed it without any problems. He also changed the drain lever. All of this extra service for a very fair price. We expect that that the tub re-glazing won't last forever, but for now we are so incredibly happy with the results. We plan to update a few more things in the bathroom. Once we're done with our mini-remodel, we'll no long be embarrassed to have company over. We're proud to show off our "new" tub!

Doug Martes arrived on time, did the work very quickly and efficiently, kept all the areas clean. He had great attention to detail, and the bathtub came out great. The finish is perfect. I would highly recommend Doug to others.

Showed up right on time and began prepping the bathroom, covering the surrounding walls with some type of paper, then removed the existing paint off of the bathtub, sand, and add the new coating to the tub. He also added a slip-resistant texture to the bottom of the tub. Results were awesome, looks like a new tub! I couldn't believe how nice it came out. The process took at least 2 hours, I can't remember exactly how long, but it was about 2, maybe 2.5 hours. During the old paint removal of the tub, it did get a bit smelly, but nothing unbearable. The texture at the bottom of the tub is wonderful. The cost is a bit pricey, but it's pretty consistent with other companies who don't have as good of a reputation as Martes Refinishing. I can't wait to refinish the other tubs in the house. Please note: You will need to give the tub at least 2 days to dry. I would suggest giving it 3 days. If you are doing any other kind of work in your bathroom that creates any type of dust, even the slightest bit of dust, I recommend you take care of that before you refinish your tub. I did the opposite and it was very stressful protecting the newly refinished tub even though 2 days had gone by it was still too fresh and easily attracted dust.

They were so professional and helpful. They showed up on time and the work they did on the tub was outstanding. This seems like a small family run business and I recommend you USE THEM. They are really nice and their work is great.
