We were very pleased with the job. We live in the foothills and have a steep yard. The stairs are constructed well and blend with our landscaping. The workers were punctual and performed the work that we expected. They left the job site clean. We had two bids and this bid was the lowest.

Everything went beautifully! Henry was very professional and helped with both design ideas and plant choices. We were interested in reducing our water consumption and had artificial turf installed in the backyard. It looks beautiful. The backyard now requires no watering. We were able to significantly reduce the lawn in the front yard thanks to Henry's patient suggestions about design and appropriate plants. The crew were courteous and worked extremely hard and efficiently. The job took less than two weeks. My 88 year old mother is very pleased and receives lots of complements from her neighbors. We would highly recommend California Custom Landscape!

We chose California Custom Landscape over several other contractors we interviewed based on their great reviews on Angie's List and their competitive estimate. Henry the owner gave us a very detailed quote and worked with us to achieve our vision and stay within our budget. Henry personally oversaw all aspects of the project, and was always in constant communication with us every step of the way. His staff was very courteous and professional and most importantly punctual, always there on time and on the days they were supposed to be there. The work was performed in a remarkably short amount of time considering the size of the project. Several of the neighbors were also impressed and solicited his services. I plan on keeping Henry on the list for future projects including our front yard next year. I highly recommend them and give them the highest rating.

I called Henry based on his reviews, and hired him after meeting with him. He was punctual, polite, professional, provided an estimate on site that day, and I liked his ideas. He also brought along photos of past projects. His crew is on time, clean, courteous, and work work work! The work was done in 3 days. We met Henry at a nursery to pick out plants before they started. Calls or emails are returned quickly, you can always get in touch with Henry. Henry and his crew are first class. Their bid was not the cheapest but, was not the most expensive either. The photos and references provided were what swayed us to work with Henry. Henry was very responsive to our vision and helped us along the way with suggestions to save us money. The crew was professional and on time. These guys worked their tails off every day. They also were quick to correct anything we were not happy with. They were very consciences when it came to details and, crafted the project as if it were their own. The backyard exceeded my expectations, the built in barbecue is the centerpiece but, you cant ignore all the other fantastic work which I was provided with. If you are in need of hardscape or any landscaping give these guys a call you wont be disappointed. I eventually will be doing the front of the house and, will not look elsewhere. I started out meeting a few contractors to plan works for backyard. I eventually picked California Custom Landscape (CCL) based on Henry's (owner) suggestions, estimate, and project planning. We went over the details and project was put in writing. Henry later gave me a drawing of the finished product. I was impressed with Henry's experience and professionalism. He liked to answer phone in person (!) or otherwise would get back to me promptly. Overall, he delivered what he promised. CLL's crew was courteous, on time, clean, and they worked hard. In fact, we bought his crew lunch on their last day at the job. The project took a few weeks but I knew that coming in, as there were holidays in between. If you were to look for the cheapest bid, this is not the one. Otherwise, if you want quality work that was delivered as planned, then CCL would be the choice.

The manager of my projects was very helpful with providing me good options to meet my needs. Once all the plans were finalized, the team removed a large tree and overgrown shrubs and weeds, repaired sprinklers, and installed vinyl fencing and a large specially designed iron gate. They completed each job in a professional and timely manner. I am very happy with all of the work and I plan to use their services for future projects.

Very good. I highly recommend California Custom Landscape. Henry (the owner) is responsive and really knows his plants. His workers worked very hard, and I feel like we got a lot of value for what we paid. We have a small yard, and it wasn't a huge project, but Henry pulled out all the stops. Everyone worked promptly and efficiently, and you can really tell that Henry takes pride in his work, wants customers to be satisfied, and will do what it takes to make things right. I definitely recommend them!

After interviewing and receiving estimates from a few landscapers, we decided to go with California Custom Landscape Co. Right from our first meeting, we were impressed with Henry's personality, knowledge and experience. He listened to our wants, concerns, vision, presented his plan and quoted an estimate that was quite reasonable. When we met him at the nursery, we were amazed at his vast knowledge of each plant, which greatly eased what could have been an overwhelming task of choosing the right plants, trees, etc. His crew was professional, quick, hard working, pleasant, and before they left each evening, completely cleaned our front yard. Henry and his crew completed the job quickly, everything was done on schedule, and the results are beyond what we had envisioned! We have had neighbors and strangers stop by to compliment our beautiful front yard and get the name of our landscaper. Having been in our home decades, we have used many contractors, work crews, etc, but never before has it been this easy and fun, or turned out as well as our experience with California Custom Landscape Co. and Henry Gutierrez. Now we're looking forward to redoing our backyard!!

We contacted Henry after speaking with 6 different contractors. We had an idea of how we wanted our front yard to look but we wanted creative input. The companies we spoke with were unable to meet our expectations. None would provide us with a design or approximate quote. In addition, some would not show up on time to set appointments. We met with Henry on October 10, 2013. Prior to his arrival, Anna, his secretary, notified us that he was on his way. We appreciated the heads up in addition to his timeliness. Henry came prepared with his portfolio and was able to provide the rough design upon speaking with us; he also gave us several ideas which added to the design. We received an approximate quote the same day. We were impressed with his professionalism and knowledge. The work started on December 27, 2013 and ended January 13, 2014. His men showed up on time and were very courteous. They would also relay any concerns we had to Henry. They were efficient and would complete any work they had that day on time. When they left, they always cleaned up after themselves. Anytime we wanted to make additions, Henry would always be available. Henry's approach is very systematic. We let Henry choose the plants and lights and his decisions were always excellent. Overall, his knowledge and technical expertise were very impressive. We are extremely happy with the way our yard turned out.

All the work was done quickly and with professional quality. Last minute changes were agreeable with good attitudes. There was grading, drains and sprinkler system done. Nice people to have work for you. Good job!

Henry came out and gave us a proper quote on the work we wanted done. After the quote was accepted the work was started as agreed upon. The workers were very professional and did a great job. Everyone including Henry went out of their way to make us happy.

This project was a major commitment for my wife and I. We spent considerable time selecting the contractor for the project. We interviewed approximately eight contractors and visited numerous construction sites. Henry's references checked out with very positive reviews and we liked what we saw of his work. He was the only contractor that we interviewed who identified the existing problems of our backyard landscape and came up with a plan that met all of our needs. Henry and his brother Mike steered us away from ideas that would not have been worth the expenditure and as the project developed they came up with recommended changes to the design that added beauty and function. The workers were professional and neat and once work was begun kept to a regular schedule. The project took approximately sixty days from start to finish. Communication with Henry was very good. We were always able to reach him and he visited the project nearly every day. We were very pleased to have Mike as our hardscape foreman and we found him both knowledgable and creative. For personal reasons, we are not comfortable giving the total cost of the project. I will say that we paid for high quality work and we feel that this is exactly what we received. Henry and Mike fulfilled the vision that we had for our yard and we are very satisfied with the results.

For our daughter's home, they had been planning on doing their whole back yard with DG. With time tight and the exhausting work ahead, Henry had his crews out to haul it all and install liner and properly compact all of it. Again, with short notice and great flexibility.

There are only two reasons why I'd give up my time to write a review; either the company sucked & I need to put them on blast, or the company was fabulous & I need to share. California Custom Landscape is one of those rare companies that deserves our mega praise & acknowledgement! The moment I met with the owner to discuss our landscape project, I knew we were going to hire him! Henry listened to every request I made, paid attention to every last detail, and truly understood what we were going for. His vast knowledge of plants, trees, sod, concrete, brick, patios & fountains is truly impressive. He came up with ideas for repurposing items we were going to scrap to help us financially instead of gouging us for his benefit. We had a total of five bids before we chose California Custom Landscape. Of those five bids, Henry was the only person who wrote the bid based on what WE wanted. The other four had their own ideas and seemed to have an unlimited budget for us. If a company can't listen to your needs during the bid process, why on earth would you ever consider hiring them? Our project include a complete redo of both front & backyards. There was a ton of demo, grading for new lawns, new drainage installed front & back, all new sprinkler design, brick work, concrete resurfacing, rock, new plants & shrubs, trenching for lighting, and fountain repair. When it came time for selecting plants, Henry met me at a local nursery to pick out what I wanted & liked, listening once again to what I was able to maintain myself & directing me to what would look & work best for my needs. I felt very involved, understood, and was given top notch information & knowledge. To boot, while we were there, a past client & her husband who were there shopping noticed Henry. They ran up greeting him with hugs & sharing how wonderful their landscape still looks after many years. That speaks volumes to me about a company! Once our project was completed, Henry returned to give me a lesson in plant care, fertilizer, mulch tending, mowing, water scheduling, etc. He showed me how to maintain everything. I'm telling ya, the company really cares about the client's happiness! It's very apparent that this business is built upon honesty & integrity, extensive knowledge of product & design, passion for what they do, and sincere care about the clients happiness. We never felt once that this company was in it only for the paycheck. From start to finish, they were courteous, adaptable to our scheduling needs, impeccably neat & clean, on time every day, and a true pleasure to have working on our home. We were sad to see them go, but now we sit back marveling at their handiwork and showing it off to everyone. We can't recommend California Custom Landscape enough! We truly wish them countless years of success in this business...they've earned it!

We called Henry on 9/19 he came out and gave an estimate. He said he could get his guys out on Saturday 9/21 to fix the problem. There was no pressure whether or not to go with his company. There were several other companies we called and Henry was the only one to return our call. His guys arrived on time, worked very hard, and it is clear they know exactly what they are doing. Valve is fixed and everything works properly now. I know they specialize in much larger projects and I appreciate them taking the time to fix our problem. I will use his company again in the future for anything that has to do with landscape or irrigation. Thanks Henry.

California Custom Landscape Co. did a fantastic landscaping job on our backyard slope, finishing the job a few days just before a big party we had planned. The owner, Henry Gutierrez, developed a pleasing design accommodating most of our requests and being honest with us when he thought what we wanted would not fit in with the overall theme. The work took 8 days to complete and the crew worked very hard to clear the slope of old vegetation, reposition the sprinklers, lay down a liner, put in the new plants and haul the decorative small rock which was placed around the plants. I would like to acknowledge the main crew who worked all eight days -- Jose, Emiliano and Nicolas. There were three others who helped with the hauling of the decorative small rocks, but the only one whose name I could remember is Felipe. All these workers are to be commended for their hard work, professionalism and courteousness. Henry kept in touch with us daily and kept his crew well-informed each day on what work needed to be done. It was a pleasure to work with this very professional landscaping company. We highly recommend Henry Gutierrez and California Custom Landscape Co.

Henry was very responsive and happily met us on weekends as those were the only times we were available. They did not need us to be present most of the time though the husband was present when designing the landscaping. We met to pick plants and Henry helped identify what would and would not work. When the job was complete, Henry followed-up and would bring back the workers to fix here and there until he was satisfied.

They did everything we agreed upon in a timely manner

I got five estimates and theirs was the highest. I am sure they do great work as the pictures of past projects looked wonderful. I just had so much money to spend and that was that.

They were wonderful. They were prompt and came out right away to give an estimate. Within a week and a half I got the service done, it was fantastic.

Everything went excellent. They were ontime and did an exceptional job. They went above and beyond our expectations and would recommend the company.
