Henry Guttierez has built a landscaping contractor service that runs like clockwork. His wife, Anna, runs the business side of things so Henry can give complete focus to the jobs. Crews are efficient, don’t waste time, and work together well. He charges a fair price, not too much, not too little, which is exactly what you want. And, any amounts that were added were completely expected and thoroughly discussed in advance. The communication was great, and the few times that there was a delay, I always had a very good idea when they were coming next. Honestly, hiring a contractor of any kind rarely goes so smoothly. I received a few quotes from other contractors and they were actually a little lower than California Custom Landscape. But after our initial meeting with Henry it was obvious he had a lot of knowledge and experience so I was extremely comfortable and confident we would love our new yard. He understood my vision but was honest as to why some of my ideas wouldn’t work with our yard and provided his own suggestions. Most people think that contractors would only make recommendations to increase the cost, but he sees each project as if it were his own home and provides his straightforward opinion as to what really looks best and makes sense. Henry actually may have saved me money. During the construction process, he constantly kept me informed as to what the next steps were and was always available to answer any questions I had day or night. I was impressed at how quickly his team worked and they always made sure to clean up each day. Needless to say I am extremely happy with the outcome and HIGHLY recommend California Custom Landscape.

Service was quick done in a few days after contract approved. The process was easy and they were very accommodating with suggestion and ideas for the project. We are very happy with the results.

We hired California Custom Landscape to redo our backyard plantings and add a planter wall along the edge of the plant area. From the very beginning we were impressed with their professionalism and Henry was excellent in offering his ideas. He was great in suggesting plants for us based on our preferences. He was always on top of things and his crew was excellent too. They always cleaned the area when they left and were back the next day to continue the work. We highly recommend them and are going to use them again for our front landscape. A genuine first class operation.

With our first call, we were able to obtain an appointment to have someone give us an estimate to redo our front yard. Henry arrived right on time as promised. We discussed what we envisioned--adding stone to a column and a section of the front of the house, construct some steps leading down to sidewalk, construct new walkways, low maintenance plants with low water usage and lots of color. Henry asked us some questions and then got out a yellow tablet and drew a sketch. It was exactly our vision. He later sent us a computerized draft of the project. He also took the time to meet us at a nursery where he showed us plants that worked with our requirements and asked us to show him the ones we liked. The work started sooner than we expected. The CCL crews are all very polite and extremely hard working. They have a great work ethic. All our neighbors commented on this. They cleaned up after everyday's work and stacked their equipment and supplies out of our way every evening. The work took a month to complete. Henry came by most days to see how the work was progressing and to see if we had any concerns or questions. It was a very easy process. Henry was very patient with me since there were lots of decisions to be made; and I was unsure how to proceed. He steered me towards the right decisions, bringing multiple samples of everything--pavers, stone, etc.--so I could feel confident in my choices. We absolutely love the end result. Henry is very personable and easy to work with. He actually provided us with larger versions of a couple of trees we purchased and also gave us a couple of spotlights for free. His guys also installed our mailbox post, even though it was not in the contract. I would not hesitate one minute in using CCL again or referring them to friends and family. Henry and his crew recently completed a stamped concrete walkway with steps and everything turned out exactly how we planned. The job was completed very fast and had great attention to detail and craftsmanship. Henry is very easy to get ahold of and sticks to his words. Everything you hope for when working with a contractor. We highly recommend!!

We contacted California Custom Landscape to give us a quote on redoing our backyard. We needed to replace our old, cracked patio, redo our sprinkler system, and replace old, overgrown landscaping. We contacted California Customs Landscape for an estimate of work we wanted done. We set an appointment for a couple weeks out. Henry came out and we told him basically what we wanted to do. Our project was not an easy one at all. Our retaining wall required quite a bit more digging for the foundation than most as our property sits below a main street. We also have a water line for a Fire Hydrant that runs right where we wanted to build our wall and extend our driveway. Henry and his team worked with the city and came up with a solution that worked for all. Henry was very professional, honest and up front with us from the first day we met. The crew was ran by Mike and they were all very professional. Mike also kept us updated daily on the progress and what to expect. His crew showed up daily at 7 am and worked a full 8 hours each day. They cleaned up the work area each day, swept the sidewalk and put away equipment and tools daily. Our work is now complete. We have a new driveway, extended for additional parking, new shrubs planted with drip system, new concrete walkway around side and back of house. We will definitely use Henry, Mike and their crews for any future work we may have. We have to say, we did not choose California Customs Landscape for the price, we chose them because they were knowledgeable, professional and honest. We couldn't be happier with our decision. The complete process was excellent, from our original contact and bid from Henry Gutierrez to the completion of the job. This was a major project which included removal of 12 large palm trees, removal of all landscape, demolition of hardscape, new hardscape, plants and trees, artificial turf, drip irrigation system, and landscape lighting. Most of the workers are employees of the company and they were always respectful and showed up every work day for the approximately 3 months it took to complete the work. There were no surprise additions to the original bid, although my wife and I added a few items which added about 8% to the original cost. One of the employees, Michael, managed much of the project and was excellent. He told us exactly what was going to be done each day, plus some input as the work progressed which we felt improved the original design. He also worked on much of the hardscape with excellent results. He is a real perfectionist . We would definitely recommend this firm and hire them again. Henry, the owner, showed up every day usually in the morning making sure the project was moving along as projected. He was a pleasure to work with.

FANTASTIC!! Henry is the bomb. He completely transformed the into into an oasis. Poured a patio,landscaped, patio cover, irrigation system, lights,drains the whole scabang, He did the drawings for me so I could submit them to my HOA. He was the best and his crew was the best. I've worked with contractors before, both personal and on the job, and Henry is at the top of my list. Everyone who has seen my patio just loves it. Even the inspector that came for the final on the cover thought it was great. Wish I knew how to up load pictures I would do it just to show everyone. LOVE MY BACK YARD

We called California Custom Landscape for a concrete patio slab and Henry came out to explain the whole process and provide a very reasonable quote. The crew was punctual and professional and did an outstanding job! They left the area so clean, it was as if no one had even been there. I'll be recommending this company to all my friends. The job we did included a complete demolition of the backyard. Henry and his crew pushed back the retaining wall to give us more space. Rebuilt the wall. Added some dimension to the backyard by putting a raised area. Installed new pavers, patio, lighting, irrigation, and plants. Also, custom designed a fireplace to add as a focal feature. The entire project took a little over 3 months. Henry's crew was there everyday sometimes even on Saturday. The only delays was due to rain or city permits etc. The complete project surpasses any of our expectations. Even with the 3D drawings, it was hard to picture what it would look like with everything put together - down to the stucco color with pavers style, or concrete color with pavers color etc. It is clear that Henry knows exactly what he is doing and his experience shows. He was advising us the entire way taking into account our preferences and style. Henry even accompanied us to the nursery to pick out trees, shrubs and plants that would be complementary to the landscape while keeping in mind the maintainability especially with a pool in the backyard. The project encountered some unknowns (every project does) and Henry shows his experience through his responsiveness and extensive network of contractors. Even now after the project has been completed for a couple of months, if there is an issue, we can still call him and he will send over someone to take care of it. We would definitely hire him again.

From our initial meeting, I knew right away that Henry was the type of contractor I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable and offered very sound recommendations. Due to his amazing suggestions my backyard has a new "wow" factor. During construction, the work was done in a timely manner and his crew made sure that all materials and debris were cleaned up nicely by the end of the day. I am VERY pleased with the result. California Custom Landscape transformed my front entrance and really enhanced the curb appeal of my home. Henry went above and beyond to make sure I was informed about every step of the process and that I was happy with the work. We kept in constant contact during the three week process. Hardscaping/paving is not an inexpensive venture. I got many estimates before I decided to go with Henry and California Custom Landscape. I'm very glad i did. They were challenged with Picking up where one Contractor left off. They were professional, courteous, neat and very professional. They were on the job site nearly everyday and worked continuously until they were complete. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Site visit went well. Good detailed discussion to determine my needs. Estimate emailed in a week or so. Price was higher than others but he had better understanding of my needs and wants. His quote included several items not included by other bidders. When his crew started the work, they were industrious and there almost every day.
