It went very well. From the moment I submitted a request, I got a call and was able to set up an initial meeting right away. All estimates of time and cost were accurate.

I called this company because it was near my brother's property in Corona. The contact was pleasant and professional. Henry met me at the appointed time, performed an inspection and described all work to be done. We agreed on a price at that time. The work was performed as promised, on time, on budget, and they went beyond my expectations, clearing and cleaning and making the property look as it should. I am very happy with the work and will call them again.

The crews were different for each part of the job and all were experts at the specific tasks they were assigned to perform. In addition, all the men were on time, pleasant to work with and professional. Each day the worksite was cleaned in exactly the manner discussed ahead of time with Henry, and care was taken throughout. Affected grass was replaced with sod; sod was also added to build up the lawn around the slab. Extra strength was added to the structure in order to accommodate hanging plants. My existing patio plants, hanging hooks, chains, etc. were all carefully removed when the project began, and moved back according to my wishes. Henry kept in constant contact throughtout. We are extremely pleased with the entire project.

Initially, it was a challenge to schedule the crew to come over. Henry, the owner, promised they would come a certain day but never showed up or bothered calling. When I confronted him, he eventually apologized for the delay. Most companies would never admit to their mistakes but this company does which show to me that they have integrity. After the initial hurdle was overcome, the crew members arrived on time and did a fantastic job. I observed them and realized that they don't cut corners. The workers are professional, respectful and friendly. They clean up after themselves. I'm very satisfied with their work. Compared to other estimates I received, CCL was the most expensive. However, you get what you pay for. I don't regret hiring their services and I feel that the work done was of the highest quality.

I spoke to Henry at CCL and told him what I needed to have done. I've never had landscaping done before and had no idea how the process worked. I had gone to bewaterwise.com to get some ideas on what to plant. When Henry came out for the first time I told him the plants I had been looking at. He cautioned me that I may not be happy with those choices since some of the plants could get out of control. He gave me other suggestions that he thought I might like. I did some more research and came up with a couple of plants that I really liked. Henry recognized that I'm drawn to plants that are a little on the unusual side and suggested several nurserys that I could visit to get more ideas on what to plant. I went to one of the nurserys and started a list of the plants that I liked. I saw a Bogenia Gryphon and, for the first time in my life, I fell in love with a plant. From the list of plants I was able to pull together the plants that I wanted for my yard. I gave this list to Henry and he purchased all the plants. On the day the landscaping work began the crew was at my house at 7:15 am and started taking out all the existing plants. By the end of the day they had all the plants, as well as stumps, removed. They even checked the sprinkler system to make sure no damage had been done. The next day the plants were delivered and I worked with Henry on where all the plants would go. I had to go to work that day but when I got home all the work was done and everything looked beautiful. The crew made sure they cleaned up the front yard before they left. They removed all the unused dirt and mulch and swept everything clean. Through this experience I received a crash course in plants but now I can say I love my yard and my plants. I would recommend CCL to anyone looking to do landscape work.

I probably will go with them. I found them on Angie's list. It was a free estimate. The guy who came out was very professional and very responsive. He quoted for a price that I need to have work done. He is not the most reasonable price wise. He said they are not the cheapest; but they are the best because they will be doing what I needed them to do. He said they would do it right. I appreciate it on that. He is the owner. He was right on time. He explained everything that I needed to have explained. He left me a business card. He broke down the work, and told me why it would be the price, that it is. He was very thorough in his explanation. He seemed courteous. He said he will get back to me on Friday, and I am waiting for him to get back to me. When I called the office last week, I spoke to a lady, and she said she would get right back to me; but it wasn?t early as I thought it would be. I thought that it was a bit long. UPDATE 9/21/11: As said above, I was waiting to hear back from Henry (the owner) on Friday on whether or not they could do the work I needed. Henry called Friday afternoon to tell me he didn't have an answer as yet, because he would be doing the scheduling over the weekend. He asked if he could call me back Monday with an answer. I told him that would be fine. Unfortunately, it's now Wednesday, and I still haven't heard from Henry. I've lowered this company from an "A" to a "D" in responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism, because I don't think it's good business to do something like this. I've also indicated that I would not use this business in the future, which is unfortunate. If something changes, I'll write another update.

We have an incline and they had to work pretty hard to get the mulch to the top. It was a lot of work. The job was beautiful and they were very customer oriented. If I said something didn't look right they went right away to fix it. They went above and beyond since we had a sprinkler system. It was not their job but they helped with the water sprinkler system as it was not quite right. I needed help as it was over watering at certain areas and he helped me out totally. I wouldn't go with anyone else and I would recommend them. He under estimated and he didn't go back on it. He said that as he gave me the estimate he would go with it.

I found CCL on Angie's list. Henry came and discussed what we wanted and our budget. He gave us an estimate of number of plants and sizes he could install along with showing us pictures. He also made some recommendations on pots and rod iron trellisses and we agreed. He never pressured us to add to our budget or give us more than we could afford. We met him at a nursery to pick plants which was more helpful than looking at pictures. His crew of 4 people spent 4 days, had to jackammer most areas to remove rocks and provide a space for plants to grow. Henry came every day to check progress and answer questions. His crew was courteous and cleaned up every day before leaving. The first day he came with plants (lots!). He arranged them and we made adjustments including sending some back and bringing different ones. For example we sent back some smaller palms and brought in 25-gal palms to make a better start. We stayed on budget and will use him again to do front yard. All along way they checked irrigation and repaired/modified as required. Also we had some areas in front yard he repaired including adding sod, replacing some plants in beds. He came at the end of job for a final walkthru and how to maintain. He told us he will replace any dead plants for free during first 6 months. CCL strengths - knowledge and selection of plants, doing things right vs easy, working within our budget. Opportunities - busy so have to wait 3-4 weeks, not a plan the work and work the plan company - have to trust it will come together. For what we wanted, CCL was the perfect choice.

We have a large backyard that had been unkempt when we bought the house. After being told by our insurance company that we needed to clear away the weeds, we called California Custom Landscape to get a quote on how much it would cost to clear the whole yard. We were quoted a decent price, and hired them to come out and take care of it. We scheduled for 9 AM on a Saturday morning, and sure enough, two workers were here at 9 AM on the dot. They worked hard, clearing away everything in the back yard except for one small tree we hadn't even seen behind the weeds and a covered patch that my wife is planning to use for a garden. They made sure to spray a chemical that wouldn't hurt our dogs, and took an active interest in making the front yard look nice. My only complaint is that their weed-whacker broke the pipe for one of our sprinkler heads in the planter, but I did not notice this until the head shot off the next day. It took 5 minutes and about 75 cents to fix the problem, so it's not really a big deal at all - certainly not enough to discredit what was otherwise a phenomenal job.

While Henry was very professional and nice, he didn't bring anything to the table in terms of creative ideas. I basically knew what I wanetd, however not being a landscape professional, it would have been nice to have some creative ideas brought to the table. He was only at our house a very short amount of time and provided an estimate prior to leaving. While on one hand, getting an estimate before he left was nice, it also left me wondering if he had really given any thought to the plan. I felt as though he was going to give me exactly what I asked for, however, didn't really seem concerned as to whether or not what I was asking for was the right thing. Unfortunately for this company, I had met with another Angie's List contractor prior to meeting with this company. The prior contractor really set the bar in terms of what I was expecting from a landscape professional. In the end, we would up signing a contract with the other landscape contractor. The deciding factor really had to do with creative design and concept more than anything else. Again..if you know exactly what you want then this company would probably be great to work with as Henry was very friendly and professional.

Called California Custom Landscape and Henry showed up to perform the estimate. He was on time and his bid was lower than the other contractors that came out. We agreed on a start date for a week later and in the end, he kept to his start time and estimated completion date. Henry was also nice enough to meet me at the city planning dept to help me complete the forms and present the drawings so that I could get approval from the city. Once the work started, his crew was always on time and very professional. At the end of each work day, we were very impressed at how well they cleaned up after themselves. Also, with my old fence wall demolished, my entire backyard was exposed. Henry brought a temporary fence to put up at the end of each workday to keep the backyard private and blocked the trench they dug so my 2 yr old daughter wouldn't fall in while playing in the backyard. I really appreciated that he thought that far ahead, especially when I didn't even think about. During the project, Henry would check in regularly to gage our thoughts, communicate next steps, and time tables. I also have a lot of brick work landscaped in the front of my house that needed some repair/touch up, and to my surprise, one day Henry walked me out to show me that he had fixed it. I really appreciated the generosity. He said that they were quick fixes and since his team was already there working, that it wasn't a big deal. In the end, they completed the work on time and on budget. We are very satisfied with the work completed and would recommend them to friends and family. We're so thankful that we were able to find and use them.

Henry was great from start to finish. He gave us a lot of ideas for our project, helped us make selection a equipment, and plants for our project. He crew was on time, and was very professional. Henry kept us informed along the way on each step of the project, and kept us apprised of any issues they found along the way. They finished the project on time, given a delay caused by a city irrigation line. The project came in within the expected budget plus some extras we added later. It went very well. Henry was very professional and did everything asked. I feel as if every penny I spent was put into the work at hand. The men working on the yard were also hard working and courteous. I would gladly recommend them to anyone.

Henry worked very closely with me to design just the right patio for an atrium and spa area in my home. He was VERY patient as I came up with ideas, then changed ideas over the course of many weeks. Henry is very effective in giving suggestions, but not pushing his ideas. However, in the end, his initial ideas turned out to be the absolute best, but he allowed the space that I needed to work through different ideas. Henry is VERY good about follow up and returning phone calls. He comes often to check on the work and continue to make sure that everything is perfect and to my liking. Never did I feel that he wasn't completely in my court and trying his best to provide me the absolute best product and work for the most reasonable and honest price. All of his employees, especially Mike, were diligent, timely, and very committed to doing excellent work. They treated the job as if it were their own home and would not settle for anything less than perfect. It's this quality of workmanship, commitment to excellence, exceptional customer service, and fair pricing that exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. In fact, I've already started them on "phase II".

This is one of the best experiences with a contractor in all my years as a home owner. From the initial contact and estimate to the final details Henry,s team has delivered what I would call an excellent performance. Henry was on site practically every step of the way. He took care of all problems promptly and professionally. For example the putting green did not go in to my satisfaction the first time. Henry had the crew back within one day to try and repair the problem. The result was still not acceptable so Henry had them back to completely redo the work. The final result was more then acceptable. That's just one example of this teams customer focused attitude.

They were courteous. The price of $35,000 was more than what I had expected for the amount of work I wanted them to do. I did not use them but would get a quote from them in the future.

henry was phenomenal ! professional, exquisite masonry and stucco work! plus, how nice it was to work with him and his crew. he was prompt and very helpful with several great ideas for solving our water problem while retaining the look of the patio. he was the only bidder to give us an immediate quote, plus included alot of details that others missed, like how to handle the sprinklers. had the best plan of approach, an incremental approach which worked out great! he really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with. he added far more value to our property than what he cost, and finished with a finesse that was breathtaking! wow! it looks great, wish i could show you the pix. we "couldn't be more happier!"

They are excellent. I've hired so many gardeners and they have turned out to be the best. They are doing whatever gardening service they told me they would do and they are not giving me lip service like other gardeners. They are taking excellent care of my lawn. We will definitely use them in the future.

Henry was very professional and provided information that helped in our decisions about the entire project. He was very punctual and paid a lot of attention to what was important to us. He kept us informed of what the daily activities would entail. His crew of workers were also punctual, worked quickly and used their time well. They left the property neat every day. We had a very good experience with this landscaping company and would recommend them to anyone.

The supervisor came out and gave an estimate, said they would be back to do the work as soon as the rain stopped, They came and did the work in one day. After they did the work and a couple of days later I discovered another problem that I did not know about nor did they. The came the next day and fixed that.

I had just purchased a home with plants, trees, and bushes that were all about 20 years old. Everything looked dead and decaying, and was overall just a big mess. I wanted a yard that was very clean and simple. I called CCL based on their reviews and spoke with Henry, the owner, in late October. He came out to give me a free estimate and to discuss my options. He came on time and was very personable. He had a VERY impressive portfolio of his previous jobs, and that was it; I was hooked. I told Henry I wanted to start from scratch and remove EVERYTHING. I wanted an English Garden theme in my back yard, and a tropical theme in my front yard. The first step was to demo my front and back yards. The crew removed trees, bushes, and plants. They also repaired sidewalks that were lifting up from overgrown tree roots. Then Henry and I met at a local nursery to find the flora and fauna that I wanted to complete my yards. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the plants and flowers in the nursery. He is a walking encyclopedia! I heavily leaned on his experience and together we picked out some great items. The final step was staging and planting. Henry had taken the liberty of bringing some plants that I did not pick out, and I was very skeptical of his selections. I expressed my dismay, and he said, "Wait until you see where I incorporate these items. If you still don't like them, no worries. I just wanted you to have some options." He showed me where the new plants would go, and he was right. He truly has a vision and an eye for design. His crew also fixed my sprinkler and electrical systems. It took about 3 weeks from the initial visit to planting, mainly due to weather. His crew came every day and did a thorough job. Not once did Henry pressure me to do additional upgrades, nor did he try to upsell me. He gave me great ideas for possible future projects. Henry has owned this business for many years, and he gets most of his clients from referrals. He knows his reputation is on the line, therefore, he is very pro-client. He's an honest fellow with a family to support, and he ensures that his customers receive the service and respect they deserve. He's also very personable and patient, which I found very reassuring. I enjoy talking to him on a personal level as well. His enthusiasm and passion for his work shines through. I will recommend CCL to my neighbors and friends, and I plan on using them for future projects. They also do lawn maintenance, which I will be using them for as well. Overall, A+++!

They are very professional. They know what they are doing. They have been in the business for many years now. They have been flexible too, in terms of things that I wanted to have done. They are excellent overall. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

Calif. Custome Landscape is one of the best companies I have ever worked with. Henry, the owner, came out and provided the quote, which was very competitive. His team came and did the work as promised. Henry made sure that the job was completed to our complete satisfaction. If I requested a section be repositioned (eg. the pavers sat a bit too high, or more sand was needed between the pavers), Henry immediately had it taken care of. He was very responsive and had the best customer-friendly attitude I've yet encountered. He returned phone calls promptly. His team came when they said they would and left the job site neat every evening. He even had some of his workers come out over a month after the job was completed (and he was already paid), to adjust any pavers that had "settled" in the interim. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends and neighbors. They definitely know how to keep customers coming back.

I purchased a forclosed property, and the lawn and landscaping had been let go. I had originally planned to have just the irrigation system repaired and the lawn replaced, but they were able to include several shrubs, perennials and flats of ground cover to landscape my flower beds for the price that I was planning on spending. They have been back several times to follow up on the progress of the yard, and have even replaced plants that took a turn for the worse. Overall, I was very pleased with the final product. I plan on using this company again for my next landscaping project.
