Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Description of Work: The tech was prompt and very courteous. He explained what was causing the back up in the toilet line and cleared it out very fast.

Description of Work: We had a blocked kitchen sink. They answered the phone with a live person on a Sunday. A service person came within 3 hours. After a lot of effort, he reported he could not clear the drain. The old galvanized pipe was totally corroded. He said there would be no charge. He offered to give an estimate to replace the drain connection. When it came in at $2800, I decided to call my regular plumber. Their estimate was $1600 less than Roto Rooter. But at least the service man charged us nothing because he failed to clear the drain.

Description of Work: snaked out bathroom outside clean out. Quoted me stating that I needed to #1 - replace sewer pipe to street at about $22,000, or #2 - pay to find area that has roots and replace at about $13,000 - $16,000, or #3 - Hydro - jet at approx $12,000. They also stated that what they did could last a day, a couple of months, of a year; they could not tell. Note to Angie's List: You have a special going on from time to time in Los Angeles, for Hydro - jet clean out for $199. which state regular price is $595. What is wrong with this picture?

Description of Work: The bathroom was plugged so they completed plumbing work. It turned out pretty good. They did what they were supposed to do.

Description of Work: I called a plumber out to root out my sewer line. He told me the cost for rooting would be $205.00, which I agreed to. He subsequently told me that he suspected problems with the condition of my sewer line and told me that I needed to get my line scoped to detect the problem. I reluctantly agreed to this procedure which came at an additional cost of $250.00. He called out his supervisor to scope the line. The supervisor told me that the ceramic sewer line was cracked and would need to be replaced at a cost of $25,000. I wanted a second opinion and called out another company who re-scoped the sewer line and showed me the results. In fact the sewer line is in excellent condition. I called the manager of the roto-rooter office that I used and requested to be refunded the $250 for the scoping as this was recommended under false pretense and clearly was simply being used as a scam to induce me to replace the line. Not surprisingly, I have not heard back.
