Mulder Floors

Description of Work: George Mulder did an excellent job replacing hardwood flooring in three different areas. When he was finished, you couldn't tell the difference between the old and new areas. I would definitely use him again.

Description of Work: We worked directly with George Mulder. He was patient, polite and professional. Most importantly he knows everything there is to know about floors and the work he performed was top-notch. You cannot go wrong with George!

Description of Work: Mulder Floors refinished a red oak hardwood floor in one of our bedrooms that we were turning into an office. The floor was very old and had been refinished many years ago. It was beat up and worn. George did an excellent job! The floor looks wonderful. We will call George again when we are ready to refinish the floors in our other two bedrooms. He is easy to work with, very knowledgable, and provided great service.

Description of Work: George came out to give me an estimate on repairing a scratch on my hardwood floor. He said he could fix it and didn't even charge me.

Description of Work: George (the owner) helped me resolve a polish build up on my wood floors. He took the time to make calls and got back to me with a solution that did end up working. Everyone else I talked to said they would have to come out but George found a solution for me (with nothing to gain from it) He is at the top of my list for future needs for my floors and I will recommend him to all my friends. Description of Work: On removing and replacing our refrigerator, we found dry rot on the hardwood flooring from a water connection leak. We called George Mulder out to provide us with an estimate for the repairs [see note below] and to refinish our kitchen/dining room area. He arrived to the house on time and provided us with an estimate that was slightly higher than others, but we decided to go with George for several reasons. First and foremost, he provided me with a detailed explanation of what he would be doing and how he was going to be doing it. He also provided me with information on how I could maintain the floors overtime, which was important to me because the kitchen leads outdoors and is a high traffic area for both family and dogs and takes quite a beating. He made it clear to me that he would take the time to do the job right. The finished job was professionally done. In talking to George while he was on the job, it became clear that he is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. The replaced flooring blended perfectly with the existing floors, which was no easy trick since the dining room area flooring is more than 60 years old and the kitchen flooring was installed approximately 12 years ago at the time of a kitchen remodel. George also provided us with some helpful advice. He noticed that cabinets and Island that were installed at the time of the remodel did not have quarter round at the base boards and suggested that we might consider installing them to provide a more finished look. He told me that I could easily do the job myself, but -- envisioning hammer-dented cabinets and flooring, asked if he had the time to do it. He gave me a reasonable quote, and I am extremely pleased with the final look. The quarter round adds a definite richness to the room. He also has provided me with excellent advice when I have the new refrigerator installed so that denting and scraping of the newly refinished flooring will not occur. Note: George recommended a contractor, Sloan Construction, to do the sub-floor and joist repair work. George and Dave Sloan have worked together on various projects, and it gave me additional comfort knowing that the two men would work closely together to complete the project. My inclination was right, the combined work was highly professional and looks great. See separate report for Sloan Construction.

Description of Work: Patched hardwood floor (where floor furnace had been). Did a great job, went above and beyond what I had expected.

Description of Work: Bid on new hardwood floors to replace damaged hardwood in living room. Room approx 16 x 20 feet, plus dining room, approx 8 x 8

Description of Work: George came and essentially performed surgery on our floor. It used to have a register for the heating and air conditioning that came up right near our sliding door. We changed the HVAC system to ceiling registers, and decided we didn't want that hole in the floor any longer. George did a fantastic job putting new supports under the subfloor, and installing oak flooring and matching the finish. It looks like it was never there.

Description of Work: Installed new hardwood floor under the area where the closet was removed. He also added a mahogany strip around the area repaired at no extra charge because we were flexible with the scheduling.

Description of Work: I called Mulder Floors based upon recommendations from Angies List. Even though I had a small job, putting a clear coat/polyurtethane seal on exisiting hardwood floors that were looking dingy, George was willing to come check it out and give me an estimate. He was very accommodating to my changing schedule, returned emails promptly and arrived right at the agreed upon time. He was honest and forthright, and gave me a wealth of information about the floors and how to care for them and told me that due to the unique nature of the floors (hand scraped hickory) a clear coat would not work - in fact would take away from the very appearance of the floors. Essentially he turned down work because he knew it would not be a quality job and ultimately I wouldn't be satisfied. And, he didn't even charge me for his expertise!

Description of Work: George Mulder installed and finished over 800 square feet of red oak hardwood floor. He also installed MPF base board.

Description of Work: They refinished our hardwood floors in two bedrooms, living room, dining room, and halls. They also replaced base boards. My home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was completed on time.

Description of Work: This rental unit had wall-to-wall carpeting installed in the late 1980's. It was decided to not replace the carpet, but to refinish the hardwood floors. Mr. Mulder performed this work and also replaced the baseboards. When the carpet was pulled, significant damage was discovered including pet urine stains and water damage. Mr. Mulder replaced boards that could not be repaired.

Description of Work: Sanding and refinishing of 2 inch strip oak flooring.

Description of Work: Repaired/refinished original front room, 2 bedrooms, hallway and dining room wood floors. Removed 1950's era in-floor heater units and ducts and matched new flooring to existing pattern flawlessly. Installed new hardwood floor in family room. Installed cedar floors in all closets.

Description of Work: Removed tile and linoleum. Installed, sanded and finished maple hardwood floors in our kitchen and entry way.
