Jeff returned my call and emails promptly (why is that so rare?). He was the only one to actually go on the roof before providing a quote. Thank goodness he did because he found a minor issue and he fixed right then. Throughout the entire project Jeff and his workers cleaned up at the end of the day (that is rare also). His quote was very competitive. I highly recommend Jeff and J Ratch Construction!

From beginning to end, Jeff was always willing to take the time to answer my questions and educate me to assure me that my choices were what I really wanted. I prefer to work with local small businesses and, as any good ones, Jeff is quite busy. His price quote was competitive. He was prompt in responding to email during planning and scheduling, and keeping up to date on the work schedule during the job as well. I loved that we were able to communicate primarily by email, as well as send estimates and invoice, and I was impressed that we were able sign and return our contract by email also. Jeff is knowledgeable, hardworking, personable and nice to work with. I appreciated that he likes to do things the right way. He even came by on the day there was no working due to waiting for a County inspection. From tear-off thru gutter installation, his workers were friendly and courteous, punctual and worked hard. I'm so happy that when electrician Dave removed the roof-mounted front and back yard lights, he offered to repurpose the wiring conduit to install under-eave weather-proof power receptacles. We love the new convenience. I found the invoicing system a bit confusing as the single full price of the job wasn't stated. Instead it listed the base cost, then the deductions of down-payments, followed by the itemized additions, and then just the balance due. I would have expected the itemizing and totaling the full cost, and then deducting the down-payments to determine balance due. Payment by cash instead of credit card saves 2.75%. I'm still loving our beautiful roof, that the colors go with my house colors, and am delighted with the tubular skylight that lights my previously dark hallway. This is one happy customer!

Everything went really well. I was a few days from a very big rain and already had a fairly serious leak going that was partially soaking into an interior room. Thankfully I got a call right back when I left a message about needing the repair (unlike many of the roofing businesses I've tried to reach in the past). Jeff came out and did an assessment and gave me an estimate and he and his team were back within a few days to do the job. They were in and out in a couple of hours and even did a few extra fixes where there were cracks in flashing and tiles. Jeff took the time to give me some good advice about the dampness in the ceiling and the yard was as clean as it was when they started by the time they left. There were some very, very heavy rains shortly after this job was finished and there were no leaks so it seems to have been very good work.

Jeff was great. He was one of only two roofers who called me back to give me an estimate for a new roof. There we some major setbacks with my roof because of the city, but Jeff worked with the city on my behalf. He had to rearrange his schedule because of these set backs and as soon as we had the all clear from the city he got my roof done as quickly as possible. A bit of my fence was damaged during the roofing process and he quickly fixed it. I would definitely recommend J. Ratch.

Very courteous, knowledgable, hard working and professional. His workers are courteous and efficient. Jeff outlined all of my options with their cost clearly and with no pressure. Jeff gave a reasonable cost/ft. for gutters and a cost/hr for any dry rot repairs that needed to be done. The job was done quickly and with a minimum of mess. Today we had the first significant rain of the season. I discovered that the 2nd storey gutter was not draining. I called Jeff, who happened to be in the area, he came by and discovered that the problem was due to my Italian cypress needles that had clogged the downspout. He cleared it and didn't charge me for it. This is the kind of guy he is!

Jeff is very knowledgeable and honest. His workers are very experienced and hard working. Being an engineer, I like things done the right way. Jeff exceeded my expectations.

I have a 70 year old house that was last re-roofed in the 80s. On-site evaluation was done in under 30 minutes then he emailed me an estimate that weekend. No BS or upselling like the other estimates I got. Work was scheduled 6 weeks after the contract was signed and down payment received. Tear off was done on a Thursday. Reroof and repairs were performed Monday to Wednesday then the gutters were installed on Friday. Roof installation was ~$13,000 for a 2,500 sq ft. Used Corning asphalt shingles and full gutter replacement. Dryrot repair was ~$3,000 (his carpenter is a wizard). Other estimates I received ranged from $16,500 (not including dryrot repair) to $31,000.

He did an excellent job. I liked that he kept me informed of what he was doing. He had to modify a couple of things, so he kept me informed. I liked the schedule, he told me when it would be completed. So, I think just his communication with me was good. I thought the quality of work was very good. He was very good, I would hire him again.

Service was excellent from start to finish. Jeff, the owner, personally worked with his own crew and subcontractors on the project to deliver on time and exactly as budgeted. Quality is superb. Clean-up was thorough. Jeff answered all questions professionally. He is an experienced, trustworthy contractor. I would definitely hire him again.

Jeff inspected the room and then built a quote for us. Now it's just a matter of getting the work done to repair the roof. Jeff arrived early and completed the inspection quickly. If he had a weakness I would say it's that his schedule seems incredibly busy.

Excellent! They showed up on time to appointments, and completed the work as was agreed. The roof had many problems, and they fixed everything during the re-roofing. It looks great and makes the house look so much better!

Responded to my initial contact with a text or email (i forget which) stating that they would call on Monday morning but never followed up to see what needed to be done, give a quote or even say not interested. Hard to rate someone when they never bothered to respond to an inquiry. This would have been a 10 to 15,000 job.

I am very pleased with the quality of work. Two years ago, Jeff re-roofed our detached garage and replaced some siding, and made some repairs on the roof of the house. When I was ready to re-roof the house, it was a busy time for roofing. Jeff was able to fit my home in around another other job. Everything was done on time, and the property was kept neat and clean. I liked that Jeff checked the job to make sure it was done properly by his workers, coming back to finish a couple of things himself that I would not even be able to see. The cost was very reasonable, even when adding the additional dry rot repair and barge rafters replacements.
