After Jeff came over to make measurements I went to Home Depot to order the doors I wanted. One was in stock and the other was back east and had to be shipped so I had it delivered directly to the house. Jeff and I kept in contact via text messaging where I sent him updates on when the door was expected to arrive, when the hardware was received, so we could coordinate when he would do the work. We decided on a Thursday, Jeff picked the other door up from the Home Depot and had them installed by the end of the day. He also insulated around the doors and put the trim back on that could be replaced. I asked him not to worry too much about finishing details on trim because there is a lot of remodeling to happen on this house. He put all the new hardware on the doors and cut the opening in the back door and installed the dog door. After the doors, he inspected the inside of the roof and made a minor repair. Overall, Jeff communicated well, showed up on time, did the work very well, cleaned up afterward and I found him very easy to work with.

He is very good, and I'm very happy with his work. He has done work for me in the past, and I will use him again.

Jeff discussed the problem with my roof on the phone, and made plans to come look at it when it was raining, so he could see the situation clearly. He arrived on time, gave me a very good idea of the condition of my roof, and recommended waiting to do any work until he could see it under stormier conditions. I was ready to hire him to do a repair at this visit, but he assured me that there was no harm in leaving it as it is. I felt very confident about his assessment of the problem, and I will definitely call him for anything further.

The job went very smoothly. He arrived when he said he would and cleaned up all cuttings and rotted wood.

This was the third time I've hired Jeff. I have found that he is always very prompt in returnig calls, giving estimates, and being able to schedule work that is urgent. The last job he did was for concrete work that wasn't urgent at the time of the estimate - we scheduled it out for the following month. Everyting happened as discussed and as planned.

A great experience! Jeff is very professional, fair, and honest. My brothers (an electrician/handyman and a Home Depot manager) were visiting for Christmas and could've done the roof work themselves but they didn't want to, so I interviewed contractors with their help and got the thumbs up for Jeff. It's nice to know that they thought Jeff knew what he was doing and was charging a fair price for time and materials. Jeff scheduled us in within a couple days and showed up when promised. He did the work in exactly the amount of time he estimated and the leak seems to be sealed. Overall, a very positive experience and I would work with Jeff again should the need arise.

Jeff showed up on time and was very professional. We discussed my situation...an older house that is going to undergo some extensive remodeling with the roof line changing a bit in about 2-3 years. He suggested that if the roof isn't actually leaking anywhere then it would be best to leave it alone as long as I can until it gets closer to the time when the roof extension will go up. He was also very knowledgeable about my options (I want to be as energy efficient as possible with this remodel so I have been considering a cool roof). He explained that there are all sorts of systems now, between cool roof tiling, ventilation systems, liners, etc that reduce energy costs and went over some of the trade-offs of spending/saving now vs. later. I was planning on using the latest and greatest...he asked questions like, how long do I plan on staying in this residence? Is a more expensive roof going to add to the long term value of the house or make it stand out too much in my neighborhood, etc. All good food-for-thought. He did suggest that I get the gutters taken care of (and recommended Gutter Drs who I used and am very pleased with the price and results) so the water doesn't do any future damage to the roof. While he was here he also took a look at the remodel project I am planning and had several insights for me on that too. When I'm ready to start that project I will definitely have Jeff come back out to bid on it. Since I was fully prepared to have to spend $8000-10,000 on the roof this month it was a very pleasant surprise to find that it wasn't as urgent as I had thought. Jeff was definitely professional and had my best interests in mind, gave me some interesting perspective regarding the remodel project and saved me a lot of money now that I can use on my current project, giving me time to think more about what I ultimately want in a roof. I appreciated his honesty with my situation rather than just trying to make a buck. That kind of integrity pays off, hopefully, in the long run.

He was absolutely excellent. He was friendly and nice. He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. He did a good job. He did a good enough job that I told my sister about him because she had a leak and he did an excellent job for her.

He did a pretty good job. I thought the price was pretty good. He charged me $275. He responded well showing up on the right day and right time. He worked pretty diligently and did everything I asked and more. He cleaned up well after himself, but the job wound up being more involved than he or I expected. I actually gave him more than what he quoted because he spent quite a few hours on it. I would definitely use him again in the future.

Deciding the have the exterior of our house painted we realized we needed to have the gutters and facia repaired due to extensive damage from the original work. We had several contractors come out to provide bids and a break-down of all the work that would be needed. Jeff was very personal and professional. After walking through the work and how he would do it, I felt that he would provide the work and pay attention to the areas I felt was important. I would rehire J. Ratch Construction to perform additional work. Jeff is hard working, pays attention to detail and is honest about the work he'll provide.

Jeff Ratchford thoroughly evaluated the problem and determined that the roof tiles needed to be removed, an ice and water shield be installed, flashing be repaired/replaced around chimney, and dry rot be repaired on patio roof. The work was done with efficiency and clean up was perfect. Mr. Ratchford and another worker were punctual and provided updates on the progress and completely cleaned up. I would never have known that they had been here except THE ROOF DID NOT LEAK DURING THE RECENT HEAVY WINDS AND RAIN. This was a very positive experience! I felt I was in good hands.

Jeff Ratchford is the person I dealt with and he did an absolutely fabulous job. The price was almost $900 for his services. He did better than anyone else. I got several different bids. His bid wasn’t the lowest, but it was the best to me. What he did was that he charged for the actual materials and an hourly rate. He was a fantastic worker. His workmanship was outstanding. His friendliness and professionalism were also outstanding. When it comes to the price, he was the best for what the job called for. He was very professional and knew what to do. He knew how to do it as well. He consulted often with me when he would get to the place where he needed to do something different than what we had talked about. I was totally pleased with his professionalism. In fact, I intend to hire him later on this fall to do some other repair work for me.

Lyman returned my call within several minutes of my call for an estimate request. He and his team were busy doing several concurrent jobs but Lyman met me at my house giving me time to arrive. He was early. He has a positive attitude and is up front and will let you know what work he does. He gave me a $5800 estimate, which was the lower of the 7 estimates I was given. He also brought product samples from several companies to choose the maker and grade level of the asphalt shingles I wanted. He gave energy saving options with rebate information from the the government. He will not put on the junk shingles. I felt I was thoroughly informed about options available to me. He does not perform construction work. He referred me to Dave Harding, his friend that specializes in wood construction to look for and fix dry rot and any carpentry work required. Lyman and Dave work very well together in the jobs. Lyman had no problem holding up my roofing project until Dave came to give me his estimate and a solution for the back bedroom roof. No company, that came out to do estimates on the roof over the dry rotted bedroom with it's varied swells, came up with an idea of how to make the Mr. Toad's Wild Ride looking roof into a normal looking roof and a way to further insulate it. It was previously the hottest and coldest room in the house. Lyman gave me an estimate of $1800 to put up a gable and put lots of insulation in that space. After 4 hours I got a call to look at the work...He felt that the job was not good enough and felt that he should tear the gable off and call it a wash on the payment for his work. That roof looked wonderful with the new gable. Dave is a perfectionist. He cut out the dry rotted roofing and facia boards and replaced them. He even had has man paint them before putting them up. Lyman's man assisted to get things done. I can not believe that is my roof! It is by far the best looking roof around. The inside of the bedroom was cool in the midst of a hot summers day. The original roof I had put on 20 year or so ago cost $1,800 and it was done improperly and looked very questionable. For $1800 I have fresh wood all around the room and a new gable with lots of insulation, the facia boards around the room are done right now and the dry rot removed, the gutter my boyfriend took down was put up in a very short time with Dave Harding and his worker assisting my boyfriend after telling him the proper product to use. This only took minutes...Amazing! Astounding! Happy! That is all I can say about the work Lyman and Dave performed They came out immediately if I had any questions on my project. They partner together with focus on what is best for their clients project and concerns. They were a job to work with.

It was great. Jeff contacted me the same day I queried him, and we set the date/time for the estimate. The estimate was very reasonable. He came the following week to do the job, and discovered more damage than we initially thought. He couldn't get ahold of me, so went ahead and fixed the extra damage (I was so glad he didn't wait for my approval - the cost wasn't that much different, and the job is done). He was professional and quick. I'll go back to him any time I need roof repairs. He also gave me an honest assessment of a couple other small issues in the house that caused me to wait on trying to do repairs now.

Jeff was on time, and did a quality job. He is a very conscientious person, and is highly recommended.

Jeff looked at the work needing to be done, and answered many of my questions during his initial visit. I knew right away that his crew would be dependable and focused when they took great pains to crawl beneath the house to diagnose suspected problems. A reasonable estimate was sent by email and hassle-free arrangements were made for deposit, access to the house (I do not live there), and choice of materials. I really appreciate it when mutual trust "greases" the wheels of a business transaction and the outcome is as good or better than expected, as it was in this case. I would use Ratchford again in a heartbeat.

It was an exemplary job! He is among the best. I've tried others but he delivers and is one I can depend upon, without doubt.

He responded promptly. I would highly recommend them. He is very professional. He couldn't tell me exactly what the problem was but he continued researching, and when he found the problem, he told me exactly what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost. He told me that he would paint the inside where the spots were showing, but then he sprayed it so it wouldn't need painted. He told me that if I had the paint he would paint it for me. He even fixed the latch on my gate, which wasn't part of the deal, but he noticed that the latch had fallen off and put it back on for me.

Highly recommend this Company. Proffessional to the Max.....Responsive-to initial call! Quality work. Trust worthy!!!!! calling - and keeping in touch. I would not hesitate to use this company or recommend this company!!!

It was an overall great experience. He was on time and did what he promised for the quoted price. I will use him again!
