Description of Work: The description of the services for the "deal" I either misunderstood or was not clear. It was my understanding that I had his time of the services to do what ever was needed (just not any parts). When he came to check my wife's laptop he completed the work in the time that was part of the "deal" but he charged me more because he told me that he preformed "other" services that were not part of the "deal". This was a surprise to me.

 + -1 moreHe was here a little bit over two hours. He was good and thorough, it just ended up more than I expected. He was about 6' 4" and about a 140 pound and was a little scary but a nice guy. He was a real geek with earrings and all but he was very professional and did a nice job. It worked well.

 + -1 moreanti-Jeff was on time and professional. I paid for 1 hour of service at a $2.00 discount, but all said and done I ended up spending $250.00. Was not worth the money. My computer is still running slow and getting glitches in it, just as it was before he came. Very dissatisfied with service and the cost. .
Description of Work: Deleted a bunch of un-needed files, basically did a clean-up and installed a anti-virus program. I already had Norton that I paid for and the anti-virus he installed did not get along with Norton so I ended up uninstalling what he installed. .

 + -1 moreHe was really terrific. I had my son sit in on this because I don't know much about computers. We thought he was really good. If we ever need computer service again, we would call him. He was a little late, but he did call to tell me he would be. I appreciated that. He explained things very well and was very presentable. If I didn't understand something, he would go back and explain it. I'm definitely going to take one of his tutorials!
Description of Work: He installed flash java and activated windows 7 on my computer. He also did a PC tune up and gave me a lifetime license for several programs.

 + -1 moreJeff was prompt, sociable and knowledgeable. He gave our computer a tune-up, removed some redundant programs, etc.. Setting up the wi-fi network was more difficult than either he or I imagined. The problem was with Comcast, not Jeff. Unfortunately the blu-ray player we have was a difficult mix with Comcast's wi-fi service - and itwas virtually impossible to get answers from the staff at Comcast. Jeff spent an additional hour beyond the alloted time for the tune-up, being passed from one technical person at Comcast to another. He finally had to leave for another appointment before the problem was resolved - but that certainly wasn't his fault. After another two hours with Comcast on the phone, we were able to finally resolve the issue of streaming from Netflix. Eureka!!!
Description of Work: Initially I bought the special deal to set up a wi-fi system in our home so that we would be able to stream movies from Netflix, etc.

 + -1 moreMy wife's computer was running slow and had many redundant, slow and unnecessary programs. Her email program was not running well and would frequently cause problems with her contacts list. Jeff was prompt in returning our call to schedule his service-call to our home. He was professional and personable. He went right to work in defining the problem areas with the computer. He then made suggestions on how to correct the problems. He took the time to answer all the questions we had and answered them at our level of understanding, which was greatly appreciated. He installed antivirus software and removed unnecessary programs from the startup menus and computer which were causing many of her problems. The computer has been running well ever since his intervention. We certainly will use him again to check the computer periodically for problems. Great service.

 + -1 moreCOMP-U-TITION is the most professional, knowledgeable and efficient PC tech I have ever had the pleasure of working with in fixing personal or business computer issues. I contacted Jeffrey Bilger after reading prior reviews and purchasing a coupon from Angie's List. Not only did he diagnose and repair problems quickly, he taught me a lot of useable information, in a way that this computer-illiterate PC user could understand easily, and put to good use right away. My PC is working like it did when it was new, and I was happy to learn he also offers tutoring and remote PC assistance if necessary. Jeffrey will not waste your time or burn up your dollars searching for the source of the problem and the 'fix' for it while babbling away in terms only techies understand. That isn't Jeffrey. His goal is not having 'repeat customers' for the same PC issue/s, he is passionate about doing it right the first time, and he loves his job. Whether I need help with future problems with this PC, installation of new equipment or software, or training on new PC purchases, I won't hesitate to call Jeffrey. I will recommend him to all my friends and Angie's List members who want a stress-free experience with a talented PC pro.
Description of Work: My lap top PC was having difficulty connecting to the Internet, and was loading up very slowly. Jeffrey accomplished a full diagnosis rapidly, repaired several problem files and cleaned a malware issue. He then installed a $40 malware protection program he highly recommended and replaced my antivirus program with one he thought was better and happens to be free. He uses both these services on his own computers. He spent time asking me how I use my computer and recommended safer, more efficient and cost effective ways of accomplishing what I wanted to do. These simple changes will also add length of life to my PC. He also got rid of annoying Windows and factory pop-up apps and recommendations I neither need nor use. My old HP printer was not feeding paper well. Since I was the beneficiary of a much newer, very gently used HP printer, I asked him to switch out the old one and install the new one which he did and showed me how to use, all in less than 15 minutes.

 + -1 moreI purchased a "big deal" in March. I received an e-mail from Jeffrey immediately, confirming this and offering to schedule an appointment at my earliest convenience. I postponed while recovering from the flu, then arranged a time for him to come out and do the diagnostic work. My computer is about 5 years old, has the Windows Vista operating system, and had been slow and locking up for some time. I am not very computer literate. In addition to cleaning up many problems with the computer, Jeffrey answered a number of my questions, including costs of upgrading to Windows 7 as opposed to purchasing a new system. He was prompt, helpful, and knowledgeable. My computer is operating much faster, and hasn't locked up once since the work was done!!! I like the new anti-virus and malware programs, and have confidence they are doing what they need to. For now, I am continuing to use my old system, but can say that I would definitely hire Jeffrey again when it comes time to upgrade to a new system.
Description of Work: Jeffrey ran a diagnostic check on my computer to determine why it was running so slowly, and why it was frequently locking up and not connecting to the internet. The coupon came at just the right time as I had been experiencing several problems with my computer and it had also been recently hacked into. It is 4 years old. Jeffrey Bilger was very professional and informative - he explained as he went along. What I also liked about Jeffrey - he was not aggressive; after diagnosis he explained my problems and that they should be taken care of, but left that decision up to me. I had him proceed and was very pleased with the service. I defintely will call him again.

 + -1 moreFirst of all he had me sign a contract releasing him from responsibility for any damage he did to my computer. I thought that was very odd but I did so because I was having him set up a new computer and figured no one could screw that up. Well I was wrong. I had asked when I made the appointment if I needed to save my files or if he could do it automatically and he assured me he could take care of it all He was unable to transfer my files and when I rehooked my old computer up to manually transfer them discovered that my hard drive had been wiped. He was also unable to figure out why my supposedly wireless printer wasn't communicating wirelessly. His solution was to get a new printer. He did sell me and install a malwear protection program which seems like a good deal and he installed a free antivirus program. He's a personable young man but I think he may have bit off more than he's ready to chew. Also you need to be aware that the hourly rate is just to get him to the house, then he charges individually for specific services so get the whole cost upfront. Hopefully this was just a fluke and other people will have better experiences than I did, but I would not use his services again.

 + -1 moreThe first time I called Jeffry, he came within the hour. On subsequent, scheduled visits, he was always on time and stayed until the jobs were done. He arrived with his bag of necessary tools and went right to work. When installing my DVD drive, on the first visit, he was most patient in dealing with a poorly organized computer. Because installing computer programs and parts means waiting and waiting to the machine to process the programs, we had time to chat. He provided a lot of information about how the computer and its programs were working. He tolerated my cat climbing over the computer and him. He gave me some good advice how to reduce the amount of hair my cat and dogs are shedding. Such hair causes problems for computers. It is such a relief to have someone come to our house to fix our computers. This far surpasses the need to dismantle the computer cabling and take the computer to a repair shop, then wait several days while it is being repaired or reprogrammed. After bringing it home, crawling under furniture to reconnect the many cables, etc. is not easy for senior citizens. Jeffery performs these services with alacrity and grace. His prices are similar, if not less than, costs of computer repair shops that we have used in the past. Jeffry is knowlegable, enterprising, and a most pleasant person to have come to our home. We see him as a personal friend whose visits we look forward to, in spite of whatever computer problems we are experiencing.
Description of Work: Jeffry has come to our rescue on several occasions this past year! Initially, I called Jeffry to come install a additional DVD drive on my computer. Sometime later, my computer would not start (boot up). Jeffery determined that my hard drive had died. He personally went to Fry's Electronics to get a new, this time, solid state, hard drive. He returned that afternoon, installed the hard drive and installed Windows9 on my computer. Unfortunately, Fry's had only 50GB solid state drives. Jeffery told me the best place to order a larger drive on-line; which I did. When it arrived, he came and installed it as my second hard drive. Then my husband's computer simply would not function. Jeffry got it working but said the hard drive needed replacing and especially his old Windows 98 operating system. My husband was impressed with how Jeffery had solved my computer problems. He opted to have Jeffry build a new computer using Windows9 operating system and faster solid state hard drives. Jeffry ordered the parts on-line to get the best prices. He also used some parts my husband had ordered when he thought he could build his own computer (ha). After Jeffry had build the computer, he brought it to the house and helped my husband transfer some of his data. On several other occasions, when we had done something stupid to our computers, Jeffry has come to the house and gotten our computers working again. In addition to assistance with the physical computer parts, Jeffry has downloaded and installed several programs that protect and maintain our computers.

 + -1 moreI called Jeffrey, explained my need, he gave me a surprisingly low quote, especially for a house-call. Jeffrey came to my house within an hour of my call to him. My computer was particularly difficult to take apart for the installations. He was good-natured about the difficulty, but got it apart rather quickly. After installing the DVD drive and firewire card, he checked for their acceptance by my computer. Then he ran several diagnostic programs (tune up) that detected added spyware and ad-ware programs. He complimented me on my virus program's (McAfee) use and computer's cleaniness. After "tuning up" my computer, he recommended a program that would constantly check for spyware and other added programs that can slow a computer. The next day, I discovered that I could not insert the firewire cable. I called him and explained the problem. Again, he was there within 30 minutes. After removing the side panel (not a problem as before) he discovered an extra piece of metal that had blocked the plug. He removed the part and quickly installed the firewire cable and started my machine. This time he was able to remove a pesky pop-up that had been showing at every start up. He did not charge me for the second visit. I enjoyed his continuing commentary on the problems and how he was solving them. This was most welcome, because most repairmen seldom explaing what they are doing. I guess they try to maintain the mystic of the computer. He described his work history, qualifications, and how he maintains his skills and knowledge.
