Kay's Busy Maids

The cleaner arrived late because my address was wrong on the Angie's list site. She said she had been driving around for an hour or more. Unfortunately, I did not realize my address was wrong on the website until it was too late. However, I had emailed the company with my address when I scheduled the appointment. Once she arrived, she did a nice job cleaning. I hired them because I thought they were "green." The cleaner asked me whether it was ok to use certain products which was nice. Whatever she did use had a very strong floral odor which did not match with my concept of "green." Next time, I may ask her to just use the products without a scent. The house was nice and clean at the end. Thanks.

They did a good job. We were in the process of moving out and they cleaned up after we left. They arrived on time and were professional. They worked hard and at the end of the day I got my security deposit back, so I was happy!

I am continuing to use them out of sheer desperation, but have been trying to find someone else. The job they do is passable, but certainly not up to the standards of what I have had in the past. Cobwebs are never removed, dusting in some places is sometimes missed, do not vacuum around the edges of carpet or between pieces of furniture that can be reached with a wand. They rarely move light furniture (like footstools) or decorative items sitting on the carpet to vacuum underneath them,. When cleaning the kitchen do not pull things on counters away from wall and clean entire depth of counter. Do not shake rugs, just move them around. Do not dust on top of the fridge. I could really go on and on. I have talked to the owner, Keri, who is very sweet, as well as left notes for the lady who cleans (I am gone on cleaning day), to no avail. A few weeks ago my husband was at home and got an earful from the woman who was cleaning about how the job almost wasn't worth it for what we paid. Made me wonder why she is doing it then........ Anyway, also asked to have the same cleaner each week for consistency. Despite this, there would be various people coming in to clean without anyone letting me know that the employee would be a different one. I had discussed with the owner that we needed the cleaner to come at a specific time on the day and she said that was fine. One day the cleaner showed up 1 - 1 1/2 hrs before the time we had set, so no one was home to let her in. She was upset.

The cleaning was OK. I din't expect them to finish the list, but other services have gone a bit faster and more complete.

My email message was returned promptly and it was easy to find a time to set up for the cleaning. I was surprised to find out that the owner was in San Diego and not in Portland based on the way it was advertised. The two women who showed up spent a lot of time talking about personal issues outside my home office and seemed a little more interested in chatting together than effectively cleaning the house. They did a reasonable job, but did not ask me to look around before they left and I found many areas that were not cleaned afterward. One blatant example is that a serving tray was on the kitchen counter and it was not moved for cleaning. The appliances were not wiped off and in general the rest of the house was cleaned on the surface, but not to the extent that I would expect from professionals.

ONE person showed up, SO I knew there was no time for deep cleaning - only surface quick cleaning. NOT WHAT I WANTED! I did not have high expectations, but had a few specific cleaning projects that I wanted done beyond surface cleaning; wooden blinds dusted/wiped, vacuum by moving items versus around items, cabinet fronts and floors wiped down, bathrooms, and basic surface cleaning. The person who cleaned was nice, courteous, but clueless about really cleaning beyond basic surface cleaning. AND SHE WORKED SO VERY SLOW. I cleaned 50% or more of the house while she was cleaning as I realized she would not get basics done. She used an oily spray to dust furniture, spraying it on a cloth over hardwood floors -- I still have not gotten the oil out of the wood and everyone slips when stepping on this area - very dangerous! Honestly, after she was here for about an hour, I had wished that I had not purchased this deal - I could have gotten more done by myself.

Overall, my recommendation is great. I needed to have the service done on a Saturday, which Kay's does not normally have people available for cleaning/organizing on weekends, but they were able to accommodate me. The Kay's organizer arrived and she seemed a little lost about where to start. I didn't have a lot of items to go through just mostly sorting and piling, but I had expected someone that had a little more vision and organizational skills. She was really nice and helpful though, so it was just nice to have an extra hand getting through the work. I would definitely recommend her for cleaning, but unfortunately, I didn't get her name.

Had trouble getting in touch, phone calls unanswered, messages unreturned, voicemail full... Used e-mail and left a number to call, got a very fast response this way. Felt a lot better after the job was done.

I had contacted Kays Busy Maids to get my home cleaned before the holidays, we had lots of family coming in from out of state. With 3 small children it is hard for me to keep up on all of the deep cleaning. The owner Keri was so easy to work with, she scheduled a cleaning right after I purchased the 4 hour special on Angieslist and was out to my house within 2 days. The girl who cleaned for me did a fantastic job, everything looked wonderful. She even cleaned the inside of my oven and it looked brand new! Keri and the girl who cleaned for me were so pleasant and very professional. I would absolutely use this company again and I have and will continue to recommend friends and family to get their home cleaning done from A Kays. A + girls! Keep up the good work!

The 2 gals showed up on time. Each had their own supplies and vacuum cleaner. They started right in after getting my preference list. I basically stayed out of their way for 3 hours. I would use their services again.

She was fast and thorough and would hire her again.

We were excited to have some help with cleaning our home and engaged this company for their expertise. We received a quick call back for scheduling and the crew arrived on time. We provided a detailed list of priorities and walked the two employees through the house before getting started. What was concerning was they went so fast that they missed a lot of areas. For example, our baseboards were listed as very important but were not a focus for their efforts. When I checked in after 50% of the allotted time had expired, they assured me it would be done to our satisfaction. At this time, one employee asked if they could use Oil Soap to clean the wood floors and suggested that not all homes welcomed this. I appreciated this however, when I explained we did not want to use the product I was told they had nothing else to use to clean the floors. When we reached the end our time, they had already taken all of the equipment and supplies to the vehicle before our walk through. When we revisited the baseboards, several still had dust on the top ledge or the dust was wiped to the corner. Many of the window sills had not been touched either. Additionally, when I lifted the area rugs, it was clear that they had never been moved to sweep up and mop under them. Finally, I was told that windows were not a part of housecleaning that would be an extra charge. They did address these concerns but very reluctantly. It was frustrating so I ended up finishing the job myself and let the team go.

Both women have been working together for awhile. One woman did the bathrooms, and the other did the kitchen. She had to come later and her time was mostly spent in the kitchen. They worked well together and communicated well with me, asking me questions to clarify anything they were unsure of. The house was cleaner than it's been in a long time. I was really impressed with the job they did and I'll request them the next time.

I was disappointed to find out this deal did not include cleaning my blinds. One of the gals that was here cleaning was on her phone part of the time. The cleaning they did was fine, but it wasn't what I expected. I think the reason for that is that it wasn't clear in their deal.

I bought the $199 intro special on Angie's List to get things going. In conversation with Keri, she explained that there would be a 3-hour minimum if I wanted a regular, bi-weekly cleaning. Keri requested to come assess the condition of the house her employees would be subjected to. She offered to have one employee come for 8 hours or two employees for 4 hours. I believe I agreed to one employee for 8 hours. It was explained to me that her employees are not allowed to be higher than 3 or 4 feet off the ground, hence no dusting of tops of wardrobes or other tall items would be done unless they came with a duster that would reach without having to get on a stepladder or chair. I believe it was the next week that Alexandra came promptly to my door, introduced herself, and I showed her around the house and explained what I needed done. Alex worked hard, scrubbing and cleaning. Unfortunately it took 3 visits (at 4 hours each, I think) to totally clean the house and get it back to a normal clean. Yes, it was very dirty. Every time Alex came, she tried to do something extra, like fold up blankets on chairs in the family room or dust bottles in a bowl in the bathroom. During those first 3 visits Alex did a wonderful job and arrived promptly at 8 am. We had a bathtub/shower unit that seemed to have ground-in dirt and Keri had given Alex a product that cleaned it amazingly well (unfortunately, it was very stinky and Alex should have opened the window, turned on the room fan and worn a mask to avoid the fumes as much as possible). Once I agreed to regular bi-weekly, 4-hour cleanings, she started slacking off, arriving late and leaving early. When I docked her pay for only cleaning for 3-1/2 hours, she would make sure she found something to do to get that 4 hours in. (Bill was $140 for 4 hours' work, which came to $280 per month.) While I was not completely happy, and did (at Keri's suggestion) let Alex know of detail work I wanted done each visit, not all walls got wiped down and cobwebs started building in ceiling corners. Beginning in October, a replacement worker, Samantha, came to clean every other week as Alex had quit/been fired. Samantha was more willing to clean better than Alex. I was very pleased and would definitely hire Samantha again. In mid-December, Samantha cleaned for the last time, as I had had to cancel service due to a financial change and could no longer afford to hire someone else to clean. I would hire them again, but would be pickier about cleaning (tip chairs on their sides to vacuum under them). It was a good first-time experience hiring a cleaning service. They trained me well. I guess I'm pickier than I let on as I am now doing some cleaning they wouldn't, such as dusting the fan blades of the ceiling fan in my office and vacuuming under the bed, and wiping germs off door handles and light switches. Don't expect them to clean like you would if you were perfect. As this was the first time I've used a housecleaning service, I can't say there isn't a service company out there that would clean your house like they might their own house; maybe there is.

It went very well. The work was thorough and professional. The house cleaner was pleasant and helpful.

Both times the cleaners arrived promptly, asked me what I wanted cleaned, and promptly and thoroughly cleaned the kitchen, bathrooms, living and dining rooms, and bedrooms.

We were very pleased with the service. We particularly liked the flexibility of approach in their house cleaning - they simply asked our room priorities and went to work. We set up the appointment through Carrie, who is superb at her job. She was cheerful, accommodating and highly professional.

Overall I am pleased with the services. I was getting a two-bedroom duplex apartment ready for rent and needed assistance with some cleaning. Although the unit was fairly clean, I wanted help wth wiping down the baseboards (before the carpets were cleaned), cleaning the windows, and other miscellaneous tasks. The maid was very accommodating and worked on these areas while I deep-cleaned the kitchen. I believe she was expecting to do a routine cleaning, but after discussing with her what I needed done she was very agreable and did an excellent job.

I hired them to come out and do a deep cleaning and the results were ok. So I got on a bi-weekly schedule. I really liked the cleaner, but she did a poor job, I asked for a different cleaning person and the owner told me that the cleaner she originally sent was going to be let go as soon as she found another job because she had received many complaints. I think it was nice of Keri to be so compassionate to her employees, but in the meantime, I am paying money for a service and expect excellent results which I did not receive.

It was awful. I was never able to have them work for me. The first time I called I checked to make sure that they would come out to my home. The gal said yes. When I called to schedule service, the gal said I lived too far away and that they would have to charge me travel time. She kept saying that she needed to make money at this. It was very frustrating. So I called Angie's List and they were awesome. They refunded my Big Deal money. I've gotten several other Big Deals through Angie's List and have never had that problem.

I had met another company from Angies List that was not interested in doing the work and I was feeling desparate to find someone to get my rental cleaned so I could get it on the market. I noticed A Kays Busy Maids had a deal so I called her on a Thursday and explained the situation. She thought her mom may be able to come on Saturday, and she was prompt about checking and then calling me right back. Her mom came out on that saturday and did a super job.

These two women provided an excellent experience for me. They were prompt, professional and performed an excellent service. I thought I would have to repaint my kitchen cupboards, but now they are like new. I couldn't be happier. The entire house shines and is ready to receive holiday traffic.

I was not pleased with the housecleaning service. Although punctual and pleasant the house cleaner moved at such a slow pace that she did not accomplish anything in the six hours other than two bathrooms and two bedrooms. She ran out of time and wasnt able to clean the kitchen ( other than wipe down countertops) or even vacuums the living room. Our house was fairly clean and was picked up before she came, so she was not spending time on needless picking up.. It's not that the cleaning she did was bad, it was that she went a such a slow pace that not much was accomplished.

I believe my previous post contains sufficient information for these purposes. Yes, I would gladly welcome anyone from A Kays Busy Maids into my home for any similar domestic occasion.
