He arrived 1 hour before the last hour in the window. Great! I had called others not on this list and they either never showed up or called to reschedule. He gave me a price for repair and I agreed. He was finished in about 2 hours. The microwave needed a new magnetron part and he even repaired the venting above the microwave. He was thorough, knowledgeable and really great! I would definitely use him again in the future. Plus he was close. I am in Oceanside he is in Carlsbad!

We needed to repair our LG refrigerator. I had looked up appliance repair on Angie's list and found Alex Appliances. Based on the reviews, I made a call and scheduled an appointment. The person I spoke to had a thick Slavic accent and spoke broken English. I did not get the person's name. I assumed it was Alex. To start with, I don't believe I ever spoke with or met Alex. A gentlemen with a very thick Slavic accent, whom I could barely understand, showed up and said "I am not Alex." He told me Alex had sent him. He said his name is Ivan. I believe it was Ivan to whom I had spoken on the phone. Ivan showed me paperwork with "Alex Appliances" on the forms. To his credit, Ivan called ahead and arrived on time. My wife showed him the refrigerator and explained the problem. He examined the interior of the refrigerator, then pulled it out and unscrewed a panel off of the back. I'm typically curious about how such things are fixed. Also, I intended to clean the area since the refrigerator had been pulled out. I looked around at the back of the refrigerator. Ivan was reading a sticker on the back of the refrigerator. I guess my looking back there upset him, because he became sullen, and said he wasn't going to do the job. At first it wasn't clear to me what he was trying to communicate, because his English was so broken and his accent so thick. Ultimately it became clear that he was leaving. I asked why. I asked if I had offended him by watching. I told him I was curious about how such things are done. Ivan just became more and more sullen and uncommunicative. He mumbled things under his breath. I told him I couldn't understand what he was saying. I asked him to leave the refrigerator out so I could clean the area before he put it back. He ignored me. He put the refrigerator back, picked up his tools, and left. My wife and I were astonished. This was the most bizarre, bewildering encounter I've ever had with a repairman. I will never contact this company again.

My washing machine stopped working. It just plain stopped. I queried Angie's List to find a good repairman Alex came to the top. I asked him to come over the same day. He did. He found evidence that my machine may take a whole lot of money to repair and that was just to get the power to the controls. As we didn't want to invest too much money in an old machine we choose to not fix it. He only charged me for the service call. He was honest, showed up on time, and didn't try to fix a machine he thought wasn't worth trying to fix. Good job all around.

This was a very simple job to do but it has to be done. Alex fixed everything that needed to be fixed, and gave us advice about microwave. He performed few services before in our house with other appliances including oven and dishwasher, and the service was excellent, and the prices are extremely fair.

Again, Alex was very professional. He took the time to survey the fridge and more importantly hear our input! He was very honest and even gave us a break on the sensor replacement even though it may or may not be the culprit. Well Alex, so far so good. No water leak. Great job!

called Alex in the late morning and even though he already had a full schedule he came by at the end of his day to take a look at our clothes dryer. He told me that his was not professionally trained on Miele, but had worked on a few. He had an idea what the problem was and basically had to take the machine apart to get to the thermo reset switches that are located deep inside (thanks Miele!). It did take a while due to the terrible location of the two switches, but he was able to get us up and working again. Its possible that someone with Miele training could have resolved it sooner, but late on a Saturday afternoon Alex was a great alternative! He normally only works until 4:00 on Saturday, but had a great attitude until he finished up close to 6:00. Thanks Alex!

The service provider came quickly and was very knowledgeable. He repaired a gas oven and a gas dryer, both work very well now. He was also helpful in providing advice to lengthen the life of my appliances.

It was phenomenal. He did what he promised, and in a timely manner.

I called Alex Appliances on the morning of 3/18/2014 to come check on our ~6 year old gas dryer. The dryer would not heat up even after cleaning out all the lint from the exhaust and the dryer itself. I was given an appointment window of 1-4 that same day. The technician, Ivan, called at approximately 2 and told me he was one his way. He immediately diagnosed the problem as a brunt out thermostat. He had the part with him and repaired the dryer on the spot. The best thing about the service was that not only did Ivan tell me why he believed the part failed, but also what could be done to prevent a repeat or even a more costly repair situation. I could not be more happy with how well this repair visit went.

Alex responded quickly to my phone call. He was professional and polite. He gave me the cost up front, which was reasonable. He appeared on time, worked quickly, and efficiently, and left. I will definitely use his services again.

Alex answers the phone himself. He's very professional. He arrived sooner than promised on a Sunday as our fridge was malfunctioning, which was much appreciated. He identified the problem right away, charged us a fair price to fix it (even on a Sunday!), and it is working now. Thank you, Alex!

The cycles on the washing machine were out of sync, but instead of replacing the timer with a $300++ part! Price was great as was the technician .. Service was prompt and efficient. Will definitely use the again if needed

Alex showed up when he said and was done quickly. He knew I had an appointment to go to and he made sure he was there and done so I could make my appointment.

The interface on our LG fridge has been resetting and sometime shutting down intermittently, and the temperature is sometimes reset too cold. The technician investigated this, including cleaning under the refrigerator (There was a lot of debris gathered) and removing the interface panel. When he put the panel back on he left it loose and it rattles and feels different now. He then indicated that we should wait 24 hours and see if the situation improved, and left. The same problems continued to occur, and now the panel is damaged. He called back two days later, and informed me that it would cost $250 to repair, but he wasn't sure if he could get the parts. After that I called LG and they told me that the parts were available. I then scheduled an appointment with an LG authorized technician to start over again. All this technician did was leave the interface panel loose and give me bad advice.

I have a GE side-by-side refrigerator that was not cooling and a dishwasher that would not run. I called Alex Appliances at about 12:30pm. They told me they would send a technician between 3:00pm and 6pm. At about 1:30pm, I got a call from the technician saying that he could come to the house in 30 minutes if I was available. He arrived promptly at about 2:00pm. Before working on the refrigerator, the technician told me that the motor was not running. He proceeded to open the back panels, and checked the motherboard. He quickly determined that the motherboard was cracked. He proceeded to explain that it is common for the motherboards to break on these GE models, which controls all the refrigerator components. He then gave me an estimate of $300.00 to replace the motherboard. I was ready to pay more than $200 to repair the refrigerator, so I opted not to replace the motherboard at this time and told him I would get back to him if I decided to repair the refrigerator at a later date. He then looked at my dishwasher and asked me what it was doing. I told him that when I turned the control knob, the dishwasher would fill with water, but it would not do anything else. All I could hear was a humming sound. He then asked me if I had not used the dishwasher in some time, which I had not. He removed the bottom panel and did something under the dishwasher and the dishwasher started working. I asked him what was wrong, and he said that the motor seal was stuck and he just turned the motor to loosen the seal and allow the motor to turn. He said that it is common for the seal to dry up and get stuck like that when a dishwasher is not used for a long period of time. He recommended that we run the dishwasher at least once a month. He also recommended I clean the dishwasher filters so that the dishwasher runs more efficiently. He went ahead and showed me how to remove the filters and clean them. He also suggested I run the dishwasher empty and pour some bleach to disinfect it. Overall, I think Alex Appliances did a good job. I really appreciated the explanation given by the technician and the instructions on routine maintenance on the dishwasher. I also thing the price was reasonable since he did look at two different appliances. I would recommend this provider.

WONDERFUL! I phoned about my dishwasher, was able to get a live person, and the repair scheduled for the same day. Ivan came out to repair my dishwasher and did a great job. Very professional, reasonable, and excellent quality of work performed. He also gave me some good tips on keeping my other appliances operating properly.

Examined refrigerator, determined it needed a new filter, coils cleaned. A friend of mine did the work because I could not afford his quote of $120. But he was very adept at figuring out the problem. I will ask him back next month after I get paid to reconnect water hose so I have water and ice once again.

It only took 5 minutes for Ivan to analize the problem and about 20 minutes to make the repair. He is very professional, courteous and overall nice guy, we will use their service if there should be another need. Sincerely, Margrethe

Alex determined that the motherboard was broken and that it would cost $300 ish to replace. He recommended buying a new dishwasher. He gave us some recommendations of some models that he liked. He also made some recommendations for a filter for the new dishwasher to help prevent calcium buildup as well as using a rinse agent in the machine. Very helpful and professional.

Took twice as long as quoted on first contact based on knowing the part would need to be ordered. Repairman was very, very grumpy and unhappy. I don't think the part is the same quality as the original as I can feel the tension on it when dispense ice, water, etc. and it makes a clicking sound. Before the repair the light worked and after it doesn't work ~~ perhaps the technician just damaged the bulb so that's one more thing I'll need to follow up as soon as I have the chance to do so. VERY AVERAGE SERVICE AT BEST!!

I called Alex about repairing the washer and he was able to come by the same day. He gave me a 3 hour time frame, however, at the end of the three hour - no Alex. Finally 20 minutes later he called and he asked whether he could drop by, that the job he was at ran late and that he was about 15 minutes away. Since it was early evening already I declined and we set the appointment for the following day. Alex showed up on schedule, actually a bit earlier than arranged, but he confirmed this with a phone call. He took a look at the washer, described the problem with a part, replaced it, cleaned up and the work was done in about 30 minutes. I am happy with Alex's service. He even recommended a plumber for minor jobs around the house. Since Alex is the only one doing the work for his company he apparently has more flexibility and also more demands on his time to make and keep appointments. Good to keep this in mind in case he's running late, as he did in my case. I'm happy to support a local small business.

I pulled Alex off Angies List for a malfunctioning dishwasher. Alex was prompt, curtious and even had a sense of humor. Since I know nothing about diswashers, I would have taken his word if he told me I needed extensive repairs. Instead of the dreaded "over sell" Alex pointed out that improper cleaning of the strainers was the problem. $80.00 service call and he was done. The guy is honest and knows his stuff.

Alex called 30 minutes prior to appointment to confirm and he was punctual. He took a quick look and immediately diagnosed that the washing machine wasn't draining because of a broken button that starts and stops the machine when the lid is open or closed. He said 90% of the time, washers don't drain because this button is broken (not because of a bad pump which many internet websites say is the most likely cause). He had the part and was able to fix in about 10 minutes by opening the panel on the top front of the machine. I was happy to pay for his service as I know nothing about these machines and buying a new one would have been $500 to $1500.

He quickly identified the problem, cleaned everything and left the area around the fridge clean.

Alex came out the day I called and within the estimated timeframe. He gave a courtesy call 15 minutes prior to showing up. He diagnosed the problem and made the repair. My refrigerator runs fine now. He was friendly and professional and I would recommend Alex Appliances to my friends.
