Comfort 1 HVAC

Made an appointment but they never showed. I call to ask what happened. They said the person had car trouble. I rescheduled for another time but he called to reschedule again. He said he would definitely come out on Saturday at 12:30. We waited until 1 p.m. He never came. I left word with their answering service. It is almost 3 p.m. and still no word from them. Very disappointed.

Ari came to inspect my current old roof mounted package unit as I was considering a replacement plan for it based on an ad I saw Comfort 1 running for a new 3 Ton unit. Turned out the ad did not offer a suitable replacement solution for the type of unit I had and the alternative was out of my price range for now. But he inspected the unit and found that it was not performing as well as it could, even for an old unit. He measured the Freon and found it to be way low. I was surprised because we recently had the unit serviced (maybe year and half ago) and it should have been still fine on Freon. When Ari told me he could clean and service the unit and fill it up with Freon for $600, I thought that was crazy high as I never paid that much before. But he explained that my older unit requires R22 Freon which is really expensive. After looking online and checking, the cost was reasonable for the amount of Freon the unit needed. In addition, as I have had the unit serviced several times over the years without EVER paying so much for Freon, it must have been filled with r410 which is MUCH cheaper, but also wrong for my unit. So after suffering through average cool air for years with this old unit, where on hot days I would be lucky to maintain anything close 80 degree temp in my house, I am now able to enjoy mid 70's cooling and the unit will actually turn off from time to time as it hits its target temperature, something that never happened before on hot days as it struggled to maintain even 80 degrees. In addition, Ari said if I decided to buy a new unit from them within a year, he would credit the $600 towards that purchase. He also offered to stop by a week later to check the Freon and make sure it wasn't leaking (I have not called him yet about this, but will update the review once I do). Overall, very pleased.

The provider came out fairly promptly but our fan motor wasn't working so he said he would install a new one the next day. I gave them a deposit of $150 for the motor. He came back a few days later but he couldn't get the new motor to work. I am somewhat knowledgeable about mechanics and stuff so I was expecting him to pull out his electrical tester and all, but he didn't. I was also disappointed that he was scratching our AC cover all up since he didn't lay a towel or something underneath the fan motor (with screws sticking out of the bottom). This wasn't a huge deal since its outside and nobody ever really sees it, but I just thought that was odd. The more shocking part was that he was using wire cutters to unscrew the bolts/nuts. I had to loan him some tools and materials!!! Since the new motor wasn't working he was trying different trial and error fixes and he was going to cut the wiring adapter to my old motor. I asked him to stop before he actually made the cut and I said "don't cut the wires. What if the motor isn't the problem". He said don't worry, I can splice them back together if that's the case. As he cuts it I noticed that he cut the wires way too close to the motor so there wasn't enough wire length to make a splice. After all this, I let him continue against my better judgement. He then tried to do the actual job through Angie's List of adding the refrigerant. He couldn't get the refrigerant to refill for some reason and he couldn't figure out why his tool wasn't filling it. At that point, I asked him to forget about it and take his NEW motor out. He was very nice and I appreciate that. He said they would refund my check and the Angie's List payment. I know this is over 30 days old but trust me, I've been communicating with them since the day he left. I really hope I can still get my money back. Especially, since he ruined my old motor by cutting the wires. I bought a new one for $120 and replaced it myself. (They were charging me $750!) I had another guy come out and he figured out the problem in 5 minutes by using his proper electrical tester. It wasn't even the motor that was the original problem so I'm still out $120. They've continued to say that they are sending a check out but I never received it. I keep calling back or texting and they say the same thing. Last week, the guy said he was bringing the check to my house at 2 PM. He didn't show so I kept calling but no answer. I called from another phone the next day and he answered. He had the office call me. Yesterday, Rachel from the office said she was going to send the check and call back with the tracking number. I didn't hear anything so I just called her back and she said there is a problem with my address. REALLY? (BTW - they keep wanting to get my checking account # to send the refund rather than a check also. That is strange, too). Today, she also said that they are only going to refund the $150 and I have to contact you guys for the Angie's List payment. I can understand that but why didn't he tell me that earlier? That is why it has taken me longer than 30 days. I assumed I was going to get the refund from them.

Good job overall, but did show up late. Made up for it with quality of work. I will use them again.

I called the provider and they said they did not hear from Angie's List. I called Angie's List and felt I got the runaround for the deal. It seems between the lip and the gum there was a hiccup.

Very well. Ari is personable, knowledgeable, and he completed the work the same day, which included leaving my home to buy parts. I will use his services again. Personable office person, as well.

Tech showed up and asked what I was having issues with. He then went to diagnose issues and did no cleaning whatsoever. He was only on site for approximately 20 minutes total. I bought this deal primarily for a tune-up and cleaning, and neither was done...I attached pictures of the area where the capacitor is located showing no cleaning had been done there. The tech diagnosed that I needed to replace the capacitor and add 4 pounds of refrigerant. The charge for the parts and labor was quoted as $650. Luckily I knew I had coverage for major parts/issues with my HVAC from my home warranty. I didn't have the tech proceed and instead went with my home warranty who sent out another HVAC contractor who diagnosed the capacitor issue, but only filled up 2 pounds of refrigerant to reach the maximum my A/C would take. It seems Comfort 1 was attempting to sell me 2 additional pounds of refrigerant unnecessarily, each of which was quoted as $85/pound. I will not be recommending or using this company in the future, and will be attempting to get a refund for the cost of this deal.

said I had to add 5lbs of coolant? for a 3 ton machine? doesn't that translate to something wrong with my machine to leak so much coolant? shouldn't you at least look where it might be leaking and provide a solution? I honestly don't think they added 5lbs but they said either add full or don't add at all.. even after adding I still feel my AC is overworking to get to a desired tempature..

Repairmen missed 1st appointment with no call. Remade the appointment for a later date. When he arrived he went right to the roof and hooked up his gage set and called the office for further instructions. After checking his gage he pulled the breakers to shut off the compressor. He again had to call the office for instructions. Apparently he was unsure of his knowledge. Without cleaning the unit or checking the thermostat and components he stated that I needed a new compressor ($2500) or a new A/C unit ($3500) and left. I will get a second opinion.

Tech did not arrive at agreed time. He worked quickly, Advsed me as to the status of my unit and how to proceed.

Scheduling was easy and they were professional. Great job all around.

Quoted the price and date to install. Visited to inspect for suitability. Returned on another day to install for two hours, including wiring, piping, and bolting of equipment.

They did a great job. They were hired to tune up my A/C and while servicing it they told me I needed a new motor. While installing the new motor, they encountered a problem which made the unit spark and stop working. Itay, the owner, immediately took charge and resolved the problem. They installed a brand new unit at no additional cost and also replaced the old outdated panelling surrounding the unit. They went over and beyond, so I actually decided to pay them additional money as they did give me a brand new unit at no additional cost. The AC has been working great since then and I am glad I called them. Itay is a genuine honest person and cares about his customers.

They replaced a part that cost 800. I don't know If the price was fair.

I spoke to the guy who installed my 3 1/2 ton Carrier unit 3 years ago but he couldn't come for two days. He told me what the problem most likely was. Itay from Comfort One found exactly that and fixed it in a few minutes. He explained the issue clearly and was on his way. Hopefully that's the end of it and I won't need to call him back.

Our experience was not good. Ari came out and said he checked the system and added what he said was 5lbs of freon, R22. He also said our compressor was bad. He said we could replace the compressor for $2500 or, since the unit is old, replace the entire unit for $6500. He recommended changing the unit. He came into the house and put his hand up to the vent but never came back in to see if it was cooler or not, after he added the freon. We paid him $400 and he left. Our house never cooled off and it was now up to 84 degrees inside. We called him the next day and he said the freon was full but the compressor was bad. We told him we needed to think over our options. We called First Choice A/C for a second opinion. The technician told us we had no freon in our system at all. We must have a leak in the system for all the freon to have leaked out like that but he could not see it. However, the compressor was just fine. He put sealant in the system and filled it with freon. It has been working ever since. Yes, at some point we will need to replace the system, but since we live on a fixed income, we have some time to gather our funds up so we wont have to go into debt to get it done. He also said he could replace the system for $5800. On Sunday morning Ari called us and my husband told him what had happened. Ari said he never opened the system up. He said he never heard the compressor go on so he assumed that was the problem. He offered us a refund and we agreed. The refund never came. He told us every day a different story but he would be by with our check. After a week, my husband called the office and they had no idea what this was all about. They said they would get back to us. A woman from the office called and said they would be mailing us a full refund. It has been 2 weeks now and of course....no refund. We feel he purposely cheated us and tried to up sell us thinking we would make our decision right on the spot. Just to keep this up to date....My husband called the office 3 times today and got the runaround. We will be contacting the BBB as well. I don't want them doing this to anyone else. Especially seniors like us.

The worker finished the job and the new fan seems to be working well but he struggled with the wiring ( could have used an assistant ) and the results look sloppy and haphazard. If it keeps working well I'll retract my complaints but at $669 for about 2hrs. work and a $100 motor I'd like to feel a little more confident in the results.

Technician showed up on time and checked Freon level. Service included 1 pound but technician said two pounds were needed so i had to pay an additional $85.00. Not much of inspection was performed and there was no cleaning or other services performed.

Needed more freon than coupon covered, but given that we haven't done this in the 15 years we lived here, it made sense. Technician suggested we needed to get our A/C unit cleaned too (animal fur evident), and cost would be $395 but we declined for now. Technician seemed solid but scheduling was not great. Had them scheduled and double checked to confirm date/time, and they didn't show. They said they had called the house 7 times, and no one was available, but the whole family was home and all phones answered, so that made no sense. Confirmed phone # just in case (they had it right) and they offered later same day to make up for it. No-show again. Then they said next day. No-show again. Came on third day without any advance call, and luckily had an adult son home who let the technician in and work was done.

Great... tech came and diagnosed issue as not enough coolant in system. charged up system and all is well.

The tech arrived on time ; very hard to understand though. He didn't speak a lot of English.

Paid. Never came or returned calls for appointment.

It was just a sales pitch.. the technician opened up the AC unit and mentioned a number of items that could be tuned up and did nothing. This is a waste of money

OK, but they didn't check for leaks and vented the pre-existing gas in the system to the environment rather than collecting it. The price for the compressor gas was very high and they did not apply the Angie's List discount.
