UMC HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING REFRIGERATION

Our air conditioner stopped blowing cold air Saturday night. We called several places early Sunday morning once we confirmed the A/C still wasn't working. When we couldn't get anyone on the phone, we renewed our Angie's List subscription and found UMC's reviews and contact info. Not only did Yuri answer the phone on a Sunday morning, but he drove out to the house and had the system working again shortly after his arrival. He replaced a capacitor and fixed some wiring problems along the way. He was very friendly and professional and swept and hosed off the area near the outdoor unit before leaving.

We called on a Friday afternoon because our air conditioner was running but didn't feel cool. Yurik's wife offered to send him between midnight and 2 am since we were in the middle of a heat wave, but we said it would be fine if he came on Saturday. The next day, Yurik arrived within his stated time window, checking our filter and condenser. He changed the freon, left us with maintenance tips, and gave us the heads-up that we had an AC unit that was probably over 30 years old (so it'd be worth it to change it in the next few years or if it were to peter out). He gave us a 5% Angie's List discount, but I didn't grade him on price since I have no basis for comparison. Knowledgeable and nice, we would definitely call him again.

My air conditioner stopped working on Thursday and the heat outside was above 100. I got referrals from several friends and business associates in the real estate business but no one would come until late Monday. The weekend was to be even hotter and it was going to be unbearable in the house. I called UMC on Friday around 3 p.m. because of the great reviews on Angie's list & I have to say they are all true! From the first phone call Yurik's wife was very understanding and said she could not promise but would try to get him here on Friday. Yurik showed up at Friday at 8 p.m. and was very courteous and professional. He did a thorough diagnosis, cleaned the condensing unit, defrosted, cleared a blockage in the blower and charged the freon. He showed my husband a few simple things to do to keep the system running better between services. He showed me how to use the zone thermostats to optimize the system. I would highly recommend Yurik to all of my friends and plan to have him back every 6 months to maintain the system in good working order. Thank you Yurik and Larisa and thank you Angie's List!

They arrived in the timeframe mentioned and checked the whole system from end to end. Identified all aspects which could stand to be repaired in the near future and how we could achieve all of that with relative ease. Really great experience and no pressure to fix something that didn't need fixing! What a nice surprise!

My dishwasher was not draining so I called Yuri for a service call. He told me that he did not service my brand (Asko) but he was in contact with another company that did and was arranging things. He called me back and told me the other company would be calling to schedule the service and said that when they arrived if I had any questions to please call him so that he could confirm that the service was correct. The service was done this morning and all went very well. I will definitely call him again for repair needs. He went out of his way to be helpful and was extremely professional.

The service was excellent. Great flexibility in scheduling the appointment. Tecnician showed up promptly and did a thorough job of fixing the issue and taking the time to educate me about my systems.

Yurik was fast and very responsive to my call. he arrived when he said he would and solved the problem quickly. I would call him again.

Yurik was very responsive. For the initial quote, he came out the day I called, in the evening when I got home from work. He spent 30min or so taking measurements, and gave me a quote a day or two later. I had to coordinate the roofer with Yurik. The AC/Heating unit had to be disconnected and lowered with a crane. Then the roofers tore off the old roof and laid plywood. Yurick then inspected my ducts and found bad, messy old installation work. (Much of my house has "bubba" handiwork from previous owners) Luckily the roofers took the weekend off, so there was a window of time where Levon came in and tore out all the old ducting and fabricated new ones, all in one Saturday. The roofers were coming back Monday, so it was an extra effort for UMC to work on Saturday to beat them. Roofers shingled Monday. Yurick and Levon came Tues with crane and wrapped everything up. The whole happened over the course of a week. So, great scheduling flexibility, and always in touch on the phone. I feel nice and up-to-date in the AC dept now. :)

We noticed a strange sound from our stacked Washer and Dryer and then noticed leaked water. Investigating a little it looked like it came from where the bottom of the tub connects to the motor. I explained the noise and where the water was coming from to the technician and got a great diagnosis of the problem, the parts that were most likely broken and the cost of the repair. We also got some great recommendations on brands that they have to service the most. An excellent experience.

There was a minor hiccup in the initial phone communication, but an appointment was scheduled at the time I wanted. The owner came out and did the inspection at the time appointed. I felt the man was trustworthy, and gave me a good assessment of our system. He provided info above and beyond what was necessary. This info will help me save money in the future on operation of our system. He offered an annual service contract at a fair price. The price I paid included thi contract, and also included both an Angie's list and senior discount.

I spoke with Yurik's wife, who was very courteous and she scheduled an appointment for the following day. Yurik showed up on time. He was also courteous, professional and made attempts to keep my house clean while servicing my a/c unit. I was so impressed with his service that I took out a one year protection policy with him and he will return in the fall to service my heating unit.

I contacted Yurik when I couldn't get my heater to cycle on....he had replaced the reset switch on the heater last last Fall, and it has worked perfectly since then, however it would not cycle on the day I called; he came out that same day and after checking it over, realized that all that needed to be done was to reset the heater, using the switch. He had originally explained this switch to me, but I had forgotten about it...he now re-explained patiently to me. He did not charge me for this visit, which I thought was very nice, and I would be happy to use UMC again. They are thorough and do good work.

I called UMC to turn on and inspect the old gravity furnace in the home I just bought. Yurik was very responsive and literally had the thing running in an hour after the initial call. He lite the pilot and checked out the parts... there were a couple issues he flagged, but nothing that needed immediate attention. He was also kind enough to teach me a thing or two about the unit while he was there. The best part... He didn't charge me a dime for the service call! Overall, a pleasant experience. I will definitely call UMC for my future HVAC needs.

I called company on a Friday at 9pm. They immediately called back and called tenant an hour away for me to get details and called me back several times. They arrived Sat.about 10am and took care of problem. Since the refrigerator was very new I decided to have it repaired rather than buy new one. Was very impressed with their service. Were very empathetic and tried really hard to help me determine choices available so that I would spend as little as possible. They started with a basic call service charge and added on am hourly fee in addition to the parts.

They were great. The guy saw the problem which another company had missed. The other company was about to charge me for a huge repair but UMC fixed the problem for much less money. He was very nice, punctual, and helpful.

Very happy with the service. Very competent and nice guy. Arrived on time and was very professional. Will use him again to perform yearly maintenance or do a new system install.

He arrived promptly, identified the problem that the battery connection was bad, scraped off the crud with some instrument, and it was working again. He did tell me that he didn't know how much longer this thermostat would last (it's five years old) because of the corrosion and said he had one that he recommended at $375 for one I needed to replace it. He also said that we could buy one online or from Home Depot but he didn't recommend those as highly. He said he would install anyone that we bought. Because they were having a special, he didn't charge me for this visit at all. I got a free repair!!

Yurick came over immediately and was amazing. He fixed my heater in no time flat (power issue) and since it wasn't a mechanical issue, he didn't charge me for the service call. He even called later that evening to make sure everything was working OK. I will definitely use Yurick again in the future and would recommend him in a heart beat. Please use this fantastic local guy and keep him working!!!

My 85 year old mother woke up in the middle of January with no heat. Yurik came over and figured it all out at minimum expense. He was kind, knowledgeable, and thankfully, not one of those people who wants to replace everything just because it's old. Her old furnace is running just fine. He was fantastic!

I received a call on a Friday night from my tenant, saying the heat was out. I placed a call to several local companies to see if they did weekend work. UMC responded immediately with a phone call and email. Very responsive! He contacted my tenant and was at the site the next morning. After a quick review, he called to give me two options, one was less expensive but might not last as long, and the other more expensive ($2000+) but is really what was needed as it is an old unit. Due to various conditions, I opted for the short term solution. By noon the job was done and the heater was working. I would definitely use them again and plan to use them for the larger repair next year.

After two hours, Yurik got them both working, but cautioned me that one of the furnaces should not be used and needed to be replaced, as there would be a carbon monoxide problem. The quote on this was $2200. If I do replace this furnace, I don?t plan on having anyone other than Yurik do it.

I called UMC and spoke with Yurik. He offered a bi-yearly service package, including two visits, one for heating and one for air-conditioning. I chose to have only the heating service done at this time. Yurik informed me that he would be coming himself, which made me happy. He arrived on time, and checked the heating unit thoroughly, explaining every step to me. The unit is fairly new and in good working order. Yurik was able to give me some good pointers on how to be more efficient. He also found that my thermostat is not wired for full efficiency, and I will probably have him do the work to fix that in the future. He was a professional in every way and left me very satisfied with his service.

My air conditioning stopped working all of a sudden. Called few places, received few quotes but the friendliness, care and knowledge of Yurik from UMC appliances was very impressive. He sounded like he was doing the repair for his own home. He did checked the warranty of my compressor and saved me a lot of money, that otherwise I would have spent it because of lack of my knowledge about the warranty. I feel not only found a great specialist but also a very caring friend of family.

I called Yuri on a Friday afternoon, and he said he was on a job till the early evening, but he would come over around 7 if that was all right. Well, the weather was scorching and I was really happy he was willing to come so late. It was actually better since I was working till 5PM anyway. He came over looked everything over. The air conditioner is working fine. He also changed a filter in the house,checked at my heating unit, and adjusted my thermostat. He was very polite, and easy to talk to. I hired him to do the maintenance for the heater and AC, so the $190.oo was for that -- this trip included. I feel confident that he will do a great job. He called the next day to make sure everything was working well. I highly recommend him for his knowledge, and great pricing.
