Description of Work: The quality of the work was excellent and they arrived on time. The problem was in the pricing. Henderson gave me a verbal estimate for removing a tree, around $400. Then they had a Big Deal for $800 worth of services for $400. So I purchased the Big Deal, and discussed additional work to total $800 worth of work. I did not get a written estimate from them, which I am kicking myself for. They did not offer it either. I had used them previously and they were excellent, so I thought it was OK just to send them an email of what I understood would be done for the price of hte Big Deal. The morning of the work, just a few minutes before they were scheduled to arrive, I got a call to tell me that the price was wrong and it really should be $800 to remove the tree. So they would only do the tree and nothing more._x000D_|_x000D_|In the end, they did a good job, but I felt like I had been lied to. I did not appreciate the way this was handled. Are the companies changing their prices for Angie's list customers, I had one number for the estimate and a completely different number for the Big Deal? However, I should have insisted on a written estimate right from the start. _x000D_|_x000D_|So, I'm not going to use this company in the future. This happened back in January (now it's October).

Description of Work: Service provider (Nancy) will not schedule a time for tree removal because she told me they will not make any money on this service. Even though the deal is valid until 6/28/13 she indicated that she doesn't know when they would schedule it b/c they don't work in the summer! If this is truly the case, she could have told me all this a month ago instead of getting an estimator out here this week, raise the price by an additional $200 (quote was $800, 5 months ago, now $1000) AND she couldn't tell me when she could schedule the removal. After several suggestions by the provider to get a refund from Angie's list, I decided to do just that.

Description of Work: Henderson removed two giant Brazilian Pepper Trees from the backyard. They agreed to a bid that was $300 less than the competition. They came early and worked late. They removed other wood debris from the yard and even threw in cutting down a tree house decking for a case of soda (no extra cost).

+ -1 moreNancy promptly returned my call the next morning after my inquiry and we were able to schedule the tree service for that Saturday. Juan is the company's arborist and lead man of his crew. Juan was polite, professional and skillful. The job entailed some tricky maneuvering around telephone wires of our giant, overgrown (and beloved) Ficus tree. Juan and his crew finished the job, including clean-up, in about three hours. The job was done beautifully and thoroughly.
Description of Work: Trimmed and shaped large, over-grown Ficus tree.

+ -1 moreFrom the start, Henderson Tree Service was VERY professional. They were very responsive to my initial inquiries and returned calls promptly. Bob, the estimator, was great. He's very knowledgeable and made some excellent recommendations. The quote was very comparable to another that we had received, but you could tell that this company was more professional and knew what they were doing. On the day of removal, the crew arrived when expected. They didn't just send two guys to remove all of our trees: at one time there were almost 10 guys working on our property. Henderson Tree Service was fast, professional, and did an excellent job.
Description of Work: Henderson Tree Service removed at least seven trees (including four very large ones) from a very overcrowded courtyard. They ground the stumps, completely removed all debris, and left our property (and our neighbor's property) very clean.

+ 0 moreThe estimate was quick and thorough. The work was started promptly. They finished all but one tree, for which they had to delay removal while work was being done on the neighbor's property. They returned to finish the job. Everything they did was exactly as I wanted, and they cleaned up everything very well. Altogether, it was a satisfying purchase.
Description of Work: They removed two large trees and one medium-sized tree, grinded one stump, removed hedges, and trimmed the medium-sized tree.

+ -1 moreThe representative showed up on time (actually, he was early) and was very polite. The estimate was very high compared to another one I've been given. It was more than double another quote. The estimation was done too quickly with too little detail for such an extensive job of cutting down and removing a very large eucalyptus. I was told I could contact the estimator's boss,, and she might lower the price.
Description of Work: They put together an estimate. The estimate said: "Type of tree: Eucalyptus. Number: 1. Work to be performed: Cut down and stump grind."

+ -1 moreWe were very happy with the whole job from start to finish. My initial phone call was returned promptly and an appointment set up for the next day. All the work was done a few days later. The crew was very polite and professional, and a tremendous amount of work was done in just a few hours. They did a nice job, cleaned up thoroughly, and somehow chipped or got rid of all the cut material with me barely noticing that it was getting done.
Description of Work: A medium-sized tree was removed; two large pine trees were trimmed and laced; and substantial pruning was done in several other places on the property. All of the material that had been cut off was cleaned up and removed from the property.

+ -1 moreI contacted this company because we wanted information on four pine trees on our property - were they healthy, what species are they, did any of them need to be trimmed/removed? The person they sent out said all of the trees were healthy, but two needed to be removed because they posed a threat to our driveway/roof, and a third needed to be trimmed. He suggested we schedule the work immediately (middle of July). I called two other companies for second opinions, and found out that the trees are not healthy - two of them have severe infestations of bark beetle. Furthermore, trimming the third, healthy, tree in summer is strongly discouraged, as trimming pines in warm weather leaves them very susceptible to, you guessed it, bark beetle infection. The person from Henderson even misidentified the species of all four trees. In short, this company gave very bad advice. I'm glad I got second opinions.

The arborist and estimator is very knowledgable and was helpful with suggestions about taming the overgrown trees. The owner accompanied her crew and kept a feminine eye on the shaping details. The crew worked efficiently and cleaned up completely.
Description of Work: The Henderson crew topped, shaped, and thinned as instructed several trees on the property. In addition, they removed a neighbor's tree (with permission!) for view.
