Ponderosa Tree Service

Description of Work: I called Ponderosa to remove a very large (50 ft?) oak that had died on our property. It was on a slope near the edge of our property; they did an amazing job of removing the dead tree, and came back a week later to grind the stump. They left no evidence that a tree had ever been there, let alone one that must have been 100 years old before it died! There were no collateral damages. They get excellent marks for this part of their work. |While they were on the property I had them do some aesthetic pruning on a few of our other large trees, and here I found the quality of the work to be more in the B range than the A. Not bad, but not the best I've seen.

Description of Work: The tree service removed two tall pine trees from a hillside behind our house, trimmed redwoods and another pine in front of the house, and removed a dying plum tree which included grinding the stump. The crew was efficient and conscientious. Large branches had to be carried from the back of the house, along the side of the house to the front. The crew covered the side of the house with tarps to keep the branches from scratching the house and cleaned up after the job was completed. In all, the job took them less than 5 hours. I especially appreciated the care and attention to detail that they used when trimming the redwoods...instead of just trimming the branches back to a certain level, they removed branches individually, so the trees look balanced and uniform. The services were performed by a knowledgeable and competent crew. I will be using them again.

Description of Work: I called 3 tree companies. They were the only one to pick up the phone and the only one to call back when they said they would. The work well done and on time.

Description of Work: Pruned seven 90 year old Redwood and Cedar trees for safety and thinning for more daylight and removed two dead trees. They arrived on time at 8:25, performed all the work well and were done by 4:30. All the crew were very personable.

Description of Work: I had been thinking of having several trees trimmed for some time. A good reference to Ponderosa Tree Service caused me to call them for an assessment, and I chose them without getting any other estimates. A very knowledgeable arborist visited the house, and we roughed out some plans. Later, at the appointed time of 9 am four workmen showed up, along with the arborist, who spoke to them and left. The men did the work in slightly over three hours. When I went out to see results toward the end of their stay, they were completely unresponsive to my suggestions of some further cutting, and shaping two of the trees to hide the cuts a little better. They seemed to be in a big rush to get away, and left a little after twelve, perhaps to another job. The arborist did not return, nor was there any follow up about whether I liked the work or not.

Description of Work: This is the second time that we've used Ponderosa in the last couple of years. The first time was an emergency when a large tree on our property was leaning dangerously. They arrived quickly, on a weekend, and secured the tree, then returned later to remove the dangerous portions. Needless to say under those circumstances we did not do any price shopping, but the price seemed reasonable, especially as it was clear they could have named any price and we would have had to accept. More recently we had to have a large diseased tree removed. Their estimate was again reasonable, their workers were timely, polite, professional, and quick. I give this company my highest marks for service and would use them again and recommend them to friends.

Description of Work: I had a 70 foot dead pine tree that needed to be cut down. It was not an easy job since in front of the tree there was an oak tree that we wanted to save and power and phone lines. The cutter had to go up the tree and cut each branch off and then secure and lower each branch to the ground to prevent damage to the oak tree and the power lines. He then cut the top of the tree piece by piece in 16-18 inch rounds and continued to the ground. He was up in the tree for at least six hours. Some of the other bids required that the tree be taken down using a crane which tripled the estimate. The owner came out on Monday and had his crew out the next day. I was impressed.
