I had anticipated 2-3 hours, so I asked him to look at a couple of other things and he cheerfully complied. I heartily recommend him and would ask for him in the future!

+ 1 moreDon was great. He hung 2 outdoor garage lights for us setting motion sensors. Also hung entryway overhead light with motion sensor. Hung new fan with light in office. He was friendly and efficient and said to call if any adjustments needed but everything working great so far. We have some other work we will call Rankin for in future.
Description of Work: We had Rankin come to install some outside lights and fan. Don was our electrician who came out right on time and was very friendly and efficient. We appreciated his service and attitude and will call on Rankin again!

+ 0 moreWe made an appointment for Rankin come out and give us an estimate of the job. They said they would be here between 11 and 3, and would call first. Don called around 11:45, and arrived at our home 15 min. later. He was very professional and thorough. We agreed that he would return a few days later to do the work. Again he came right on time and did all the work he said he would do; cleaning up afterward. We were very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: Installed new exterior lights, and troubleshooted problems with indoor and outdoor plugs.

The electrician was very professional -- quick, effective, efficient, thorough and personable. It was a very hot day and he worked hard to minimize the amount of time that our power was off. Everything has worked great since he left.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced three outlets and two breakers (including mains) due to fluctuating current.

+ -1 moreRick Jackson, the serviceman came in and went right to work. He located the problem with the garage wire and fixed it and replaced the outdoor outlet. As he was completing his bill, I remembered that one of the burners on my glass topped stove had quit working. He had already put everything away, but stopped and took the stove apart and fixed the loose wire. He said it was all part of the first hour and didn't charge us anymore. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the prompt service. We will never use anyone but Rankin in the future. I would rate them an A+ not just an A
Description of Work: We had loose wire in the garage outlet, a broken outdoor outlet and a loose wire on the glass top stove. All three were repaired

+ 1 moreThe installation and modification went very well. Don and his assistant installed the ceiling lights in my kitchen quickly. They were very polite and cleaned up after themselves once that job was complete. The ceiling fan installation was a little more complicated. I had the original fan wired and installed by a friend-of-a-friend years ago, and unfortunately (and as I had suspected) it was wired COMPLETELY wrong. Plus, I live in and old house so no repair or installation is ever straightforward. Don had to make two more visits to correct all the bad wiring then install the new fan. It looks and works terrific.
Description of Work: Don with Rankin Electric installed some new recessed lighting in my kitchen and rewired a ceiling fan outside.

+ -1 moreThe same man who gave the original estimate returned to do the work. Even though it was more than a month later he remembered most of the details of what I wanted. He confirmed just a couple of things before he began to work and the next time we spoke he had finished the job--perfectly!
Description of Work: The electrician added an electrical outlet on the back (family room side) of the breakfast bar dividing my kitchen from my family room. He also ran a cable television outlet into my living room where I did not have one. The electrical outlet was relatively straight forward. However, the cable outlet was difficult and time consuming: He had to run the line from another room, through a closet under the stairs, through a built-in cabinet for fireplace wood, and fish it through the wall to the correct site in the living room.

Description of Work: I have used Rankin Electric two times. As far back as 1993 and as recent as Oct. of 2011. Both times I had electrical work done. Both times I requested addittional wiring to be installed and other wiring to be deleted. Also, outside lighting installed. Randy Rankin came out to our home, exactly as scheduled and on time. His employees were on time and performed their work in a professional manner. The cost for the work was exactly what Randy had quoted. All my phone calls to Rankin Electric were answered by Randy himself or if I left a message for Randy, I got a return call in a resonable time. I have no complaints. This is a very good company.

+ -1 moreVery pleased with the work that Rankin did. They replaced the breaker for $10. So in total it cost me 60 for the trip/diagnoses and 10 for the breaker.
Description of Work: The electrical wasn't working in the kitchen. I went to the breaker - turned it off and back on, without any luck. I tested the volts coming out of the breaker - which seemed fine, but couldn't get the kitchen back on. So I called Rankin. They have lots of experience with older homes on the East side of town. Rankin came out and diagnosed the problem as a bad breaker. Stating that the breaker was going out and that it needed to be replaced.

+ -1 moreI called Rankin at about 9:30 in the morning and advised them that all circuit breakers were "hot", but had no power at the wall outlet for the microwave in my 50 year old house, that had been given a wiring upgrade before I bought it . They responded within about 3 hours (arrived at the time they estimated), and the problem was diagnosed as a faulty outlet. It was replaced and I had the microwave back in operation by 1:00 PM.Friendly phone contact, professional and friendly repairman, super quick service and reasonable price. I will use them again when I have an electrical problem.
