Response from Plumbing Doc
This customer called to state that the water heater was out. His location was Old River and Panama Ln. We explained that there would be a service call for the tech to drive out that far and check to see if water heater could be repaired. Gave customer a 10 percent discount on service call because of Angies List membership. When tech arrived water heater was found to have the following: faulty gas valve, water dripping onto burner assembly (possible bad tank), bad strapping. Customer was informed that water heater was over ten years old and needed to be replaced. This was a 50 gallon unit. Price quoted to change water heater was 20% below standard industry rate for installation of 50 gallon ULTRA LOW NOX units as required in our area. We offered financing to this customer, but he became irate that we could not just "band aid" the unit to make it work a little while longer. We do not believe in patching units that can cause danger to our customers, we perform quality repairs at a fair price. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. We are truly sorry that this customer could not afford to purchase a new unit at that time, but it was not our fault that the water heater failed.
