Deome 2 Builders Inc

A 39" x 12.5' deck with no stairs built on to the back of my house. Angie's Big Deal $49 for $1500 worth of labor and materials. This would make the job worth $3460 total. I admit I did not shop around but that seems high to me,for this small size. Also a few substandard split timbers were used, one in a very obvious spot, first corner support that you would see entering the yard. It was split top to bottom on outward face. The boss was reluctant to replace it and began to argue that he couldn't pick and choose his lumber when he went to the yard. Since when, contractors always choose their lumber don't they? He did give in and replaced the split piece and 2 or 3 other posts that were splitting extending the job another day. Bottom line it seems very sturdy, absolutely no frills, does the job and I am satisfied. The workers were courteous, fast and neat enough. I won't be building another deck but would shop around more if I needed another one. I should also add that Deome Co. was quite flexible about working around the house painter's schedule.

Excellent quality and construction and timely completed. A little pricey.

Sent an email requesting appointment. Took quite some time to get back to me and to schedule it. He was on time for the appointment and listened to what we wanted. We then received an email with the plan as an attachment. It included a quote but it wasn't broken down so we could choose what to include and what to exclude to stay within our budget. The plan was nice but the cost was more than we wanted to spend. Overall they did what the coupon said but it turned out to be only mildly useful.

We found these guys here on Angie's list, and contacted them to rebuild our old, worn out deck. They were prompt and professional, friendly and efficient. They were very helpful with guiding us in selecting from all the options available. We were pleased enough that we asked about residing our house. They again were great to work with and offered a fair price for the work, and helped with all the decisions. They did the entire house, which is some areas is actually three stories high. They were able to offer a great deal on new windows since they had everything off the exterior of the house and the windows were easy (relatively) to replace. We liked them enough to also hire them on to build us a covered porch. I am THRILLED with these completed projects! I dread any kind of remodeling, but these guys were again friendly and professional, easy to work with, and did a great job. The work is top notch and was fairly priced. I'd definitely recommend them to friends and family and I'd definitely hire them again!

I paid Deome Builders to do an inspection and to give me an estimate for a possible replacement. The person came right on time and did a very thorough in taking measurements. They also recommended that I replace the deck same way with only minor changes which I appreciated since they did not try to sell me other fancy changes. My only complaint is that they promised to give me an estimate in a week but I did not get the report until a month later. I have not yet picked them to do the replacement as I am still getting bids so I am not sure if their price is reasonable.

Deome brought in teams of professionals to perform each part of the project, from post hole digging to framing, to installing decking and railing, to plastering. They fixed all 10 items on our 'punch list' and got the whole job done, from start to finish, in 7 working days.

I would like to thank Harley Deome of Dome Builders Inc. for a through work plan in a timely manner. I had three projects (repair rotted deck, tail rafters and fence posts) bided out. All bids were within the same ballpark, but Harley communicated the most information and confidence in quality first that his company has done and will always continue to do in the future. Tony and his assistant spent two days tearing out and replacing/repairing the above items. Tony explained the why?s and what-for?s on any and all questions that I had. All projects were completed with quality in mind, but the deck looked spectacular. Harley is busy with many varied project, therefore I suggest that communication via email works best for him (he has a physical record on his blackberry) and you will always be guaranteed that he will get back to you in a timely manner. One item of interest that impressed me was that Tony had been working for Harley for over 15 years and that if he were in the need of work being done that he would seek out a person like Harley himself Harley came out the last day for review of work completed and to see if I had other questions/concerns. In closing, it?s great to be able to find a business that takes pride in their work and workers who enjoy working for them. (See attached pictures)

I had great experience with them. Harley came twice to see me at my home. We agreed on design & pricing during our second meeting. They started work right on schedule & finished within five days. Fred supervised the entire project. Their crew is highly professional. Me & my wife are impressed. Whole family is enjoying back yard. I would recommend them to anybody.

I feel it was $49 that I didn't need to spend. My contractor and I designed the deck ourselves without using the plan from Deome Builders. The gentleman that came was nice and he was prompt.

The guy came out to our property and he was supposed to come back with completed drawings for a new deck, which is the Big Deal that we purchased. He never came back, and we never heard from him. We finally tracked him down two and a half weeks later and he said he couldn't do the project because they didn't have the proper insurance to do it, which didn't make sense because he doesn't need insurance to just do the actual sketch, which is the only thing we purchased in the deal. Obviously we were disappointed that we had wasted our time.

Was contacted by Harley Deome. Harley made an appointment that fit into my schedule and was prompt in arriving at the scheduled time. He was very professional and explained what my options were for a new deck. I had a total of five vendors give me estimates and Harley was the most professional and informative of all. I found it refreshing that he didn't hurry in and hurry out, and took time to answer all my questions. The only down side is that the estimate I received was approximately $2000 higher than the other four I received. I had bought the Angie's List Big Deal ($35 for a consultation, drawing, and discount coupon) from Deome which came with a $2000 discount. Deome Builder's estimate was within a few hundred dollars of the other four estimates after taking off the $2000 discount. So, either Deome Builders are $2000 more expensive than most others, or their bid was inflated so that you would feel good when they took off the $2000 Angie's List discount. You decide. We ended up changing plans and not building a deck so I cannot comment any further on my experience with Deome Builders. With that said, since their bid was competitive with the other four bids I received, I would consider contracting with them.

Harley Deome did the estimate, listening to what I wanted and producing a detailed sketch and bid. When I called him, Deome was offering a 10% discount for Angie's List members, but when he gave me his quote he gave me a 15% discount "to fill up the pipeline for the summer". It was several weeks before they could get me on the schedule and the initial date got pushed back because of add-ons by other customers, but I was not in a hurry. Once they started they worked dilgently and efficiently. Fred Deome supervised the crew that did the work over a five-day period. They were very efficient in removing the old material and bringing in new. Fred scheduled the work so that none of the fencing was left down overnight; they replaced the fencing the same day they took it down to avoid disturbing neighbors, etc. The new stairs, deck, fencing, retaining wall and gate look great. Just what I had wanted. I would use Deome for any work I had that was within their area of expertise.

The job went professionally from start to finish. I am an absent owner and could not be present for the actual job. It was a relatively simple project as projects go. It was finished on time and all scraps and garbage were removed from the site by the time the job was completed. Would definitely consider using them again. I rated the price as "good" because II did not get quotes on the job (because prior to this experience I had a very horrible experience with a window company) and felt that if the contractor was listed on Angie's List that was good enough for me at this point. I think for any future project I will definitely get more than one bid. But I am completely satisfied with the work and the final clean-up that was performed.

They did an excellent job and my experience was just very positive. They did all the work when I gone over the phone when I was in China and they just did a great job. There was no particular reason I chose them and I didn’t get any other bid so they came out and I liked the owner of the company. He was extremely helpful gave me some suggestions and I just went with them. I didn’t even get them out and they cleaned up everything which was top notch.

The overall experience was excellent. They had several jobs ahead of ours, so we had to wait about six weeks. We had no problem with waiting for a quality job. I

Harley and Fred did a wonderful job. The decks are beautiful. Harley came out and gave us a quote and provided ideas about materials, railing options, colors, etc. We received several other bids that were lower, but not by much. And Harley included the cost for submitting and getting the permit. One contractor that gave us a bid "suggested" that we do it without a permit. That was not something we were willing to consider. Once the work started, the workers were punctual and very pleasant to deal with. Fred managed the construction and he and I were in constant contact (I work during the day, so it was phone calls in the evening, which I felt was over-and-beyond the call of duty for him to take calls after working hours). The work took almost exactly the amount of time to complete as they had told us it would; even though they found dry rot in two places and they had to do some additional work to fix up those areas. The decks have added enormously to the look of the home. They are very solid and beautifully built. We will enjoy them for years.

We were very satisfied with the work. I had purchased a "Big Deal" coupon from Angies List which reduced the price of the project from $7500 to $6500. Harley communicated with me several times by email and phone to let me know when they would be starting the project, and they showed up as scheduled and completed it on time. There were no surprises or "extra" charges. The crew was friendly and professional and did the work exactly as I had expected. One caveat: I gave the company an "A" on price because they stuck to their estimate and did a quality job...however, since I didn't obtain competing bids, I am not certain whether or not their price was competitive.

We started talking to Deome back in November. They were very patient as we deliberated for months over which wood to use. They helped us make our design ideas feasable, and were honest through the whole process. We are very happy with the deck. It felt at times, like the designer who we met with told us what we wanted to hear, when in reality we wanted his opinion, but that is the only thing that I can complain about. Once we finally decided on our materials and design, they came and had the deck built in two days!!! We enjoyed the deck all summer, and we are really happy with both the service and the product.

We're extremely satisfied. We spent a lot of time researching composite decking materials, and at the end of the day went with Trex. (One plus is that Deome is a TrexPro dealer, which means the warranty will cover materials AND labor, not just materials. There is mysteriously no mention of this on Trex's website, and I told Deome I didn't believe it. They assured me that labor was covered. Turns out they were correct, as my warranty paperwork states. This is nice plus since, even though Trex's historic problems are far behind them, a lot of people got stuck, back in the day, with bad deck material that was replaced for free but not installed for free.) Harvey Deome walked us through the options thoroughly. His design input was right on, and he talked us out of a number of ideas that, in hindsight, would have been goofy. The old deck had some funky joints and corners, which disappeared into a new deck that is very aesthetically pleasing. The crew was great, and Fred Deome checked in on site daily. We had some issues with the new lighting, but Deome was diligent in doing what it took to get it right. (Turned out to be a bad switch.) We took estimates from four builders, and Deome had the combination of expertise, professionalism, and price that made them a pretty easy choice. I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again. The deck is fabulous. (For anyone thinking of replacing a 20-year-old deck, I would say that no remodel project I've done has a bigger "wow that's a LOT better" factor than this deck.)

I don't understand why Angies List keeps touting this company. I bought their last 'deal' through Angies List and never heard back from the company. After waiting for weeks I finally got an email from the owner apologizing that the staff member who was supposed to be managing the process was no longer in their employ for failure to follow through. OK, fair enough. Asked for a refund. Was told I had to work through Angies List for that. Angies List told me I had to work through Deome for refund. Complete hassle, run-around and waste of my time. Finally had to call my credit card company for refund. These people are unprofessional; avoid them

He showed up within a couple of hours of my call. He explained everything very clearly and spent plenty of time figuring out exactly what needed to be done. He was very knowledgeable and I am sure that his work is excellent. I was unable to hire him however due to the overall cost. I would call them in the future if I have the money. He seemed very competent.

Deome was 1 of 3 bidders. Pricing from all 3 was fairly close but Deome really listened to what we needed and responded with the best solution. We've had a problem with raccoons under the deck for a long time and their solution to use the hardware cloth along the edges seemed the best approach. Both Deome brothers were knowledgeable, professional and customer service oriented not to mention, just nice guys to work with. Their crew was outstanding - worked very hard and provided a great result. We really enjoy our beautiful new deck now and the accent lighting gives it such a nice ambiance when we sit outside in the evenings. I am pretty picky and detail oriented and I highly recommend Deome - they really delivered. Thanks Deome!

We had three bids; one of which was from Deome Buildings. We first met with a representative, then met with Harley Deome. Harley is extremely knowledgeable and seemed to know his business. We called references and visited four different job sites. One of the jobs was a redo--apparently Trex had a period where their materials were defective. We learned that because Deome uses Trex a lot that Harley "had connections" and worked with them to get this customer's product not only replaced, but they also paid for Deome's cost to replace the guy's deck. All the references highly recommended Deome. We chose Deome mainly for that reason...we wanted someone who could pull their weight and get things done if ever there were problems. Plus, the references were all very pleased with their dealings with Deome, and Deome's work looked good, professional, and worth our investment. Once the deck was demo'd, we knew that the deck was going to look SO good, that we decided that we couldn't "not do anything about" our really awful looking porch that was situated below the deck. The space between the sections of the concrete had been filled with black tar, which was peeling away from the concrete and deteriorating, the concrete had been poured at different times and had different colors, it was slanting down the hill, cracking, etc. Harley recommended a concrete company. It just so happened that I knew the contractor (a different story0, so Harley agreed that if we didn't need his management on the job, that we could work with the guy directly and we saved ourselves his management fee. That worked out great. Harley also worked with a structural engineer to make certain that the deck beams met code and would hold the weight of the elevated deck, pool, people, etc. We discussed how the beams would need to be situated, how it would look, and was very mindful about minimal obstruction of the view from the lower level. He was also very mindful in keeping our costs down—as most are, I suppose, we dreamed big but our pockets were much smaller. We didn’t settle on that which mattered, and Harley was able to minimize our costs but still get close to our “dream look” of what we wanted overall. It really was a matter of how the boards were laid; one could have them laid in various designs or simply all in one direction. We chose the “sectional” look, where one section was laid one direction and divided with a contrasting colored board, and the next another direction, and so on, which broke up the “bowling alley” look we so did not want. Our “bowling alleys” (we had two) were approximately 60’ long on the east side and 50’ long on the north side. Breaking that up was HUGE! With respect to the railing, during our visits to other jobs, we found that we did not want to use the typical Trex / slat style railing. We have a great view from our second story deck and wanted the railing to be such that it did not obstruct the view. Harley recommended Fortress Railing. We agreed...it was perfect. However, there was a problem after the railing was installed. Within about 2 weeks of install, in mid-June (in Sacramento foothills--Latrobe Road), it rained, just enough to get everything wet. The railing, which has a bronze coating, streaked. It was as though the rain had eaten through the clear coat and the paint underneath was rubbing off. We called Harley, who helped us get in touch with the representative at Fortress. We eventually got the railing replaced. While Fortress didn't pay Deome their full labor cost to replace the deck, Harley was willing to replace it without any cost to us. Harley has been easy to work with--he's never seemed to be agitated by our demands and expectations...and we expected a lot...we were paying a lot! And it was a big job!! But overall, I'd highly recommend Deome. We couldn't imagine having to go through such a big job with some of the other contractors we've worked with on other projects in the past. Never! And we dreaded having to work with a contractor on the deck. But we had to do it...didn't have to make it so big, but it had to be replaced. And we feel that we chose the best contractor there was for the job. We wouldn’t have done anything differently.

I purchased the $49 coupon on Angie's List last month. So far, Tony at Deome has make two appointments to come by and failed to show up for either appointment. When I called after the first no-show, he apologized for forgetting. I called after the second no-show and he has yet to respond. Definitely asking for a refund.
