Tom's Quality Plumbing

He was a little late for the appointment and took a little while to return my call to find out where he was, but other than that the service was excellent. I had called another unnamed plumber out to fix a slow draining toilet which didn't get fixed. Called Tom's Quality Plumbing out to see if it could be fixed. Tom promptly answered my call and we set an appointment. When he removed the toilet the flange was literally crumbling so he replaced that, and once the toilet was off I realized how old and ugly it was so I asked him if he could get a new toilet for me and install it, which he did. Tom and his assistant were courteous and professional, and left my bathroom as clean as it was when they arrived.

Garbage disposal installation quality was fine but pricey. The invoice only shows a total of $650, minus 10% for Angie's List discount, for a total of $585. There was no breakdown on the invoice showing parts versus labor. Tom indicated that the garbage disposal was approx. $300, and Tom and his helper were there from just after noon until about 1:15pm or so. Expensive labor then, given that information.

We were very pleased with the quality of work and the price. Tom was able to replace the shower valves without having to open the drywall behind the shower, thereby saving us the cost to repair and paint that area. He used a chrome trim plate within the shower to cover the work. The overall appearance is attractive

Everything Tom did went very smoothly. He gave me the bid a week before the work and was very flexible on the schedule for doing the work. He was friendly and let me know everything that he was doing as the work was done.

I called Tom at 8:00 PM on a Friday, and he answered promptly. He said that he would come out the next day after completing other water heater installations. He arrived at about 3:00 PM and determined that the defective part was non-standard and would have to be ordered. I decided to replace the heater as soon as possible rather than wait for the part. Tom recommended that he provide a heater from a plumbing supply house rather than a home improvement center because of better quality and I agreed. Tom arrived promptly on Monday morning with his son and installed the new heater in about 3 hours. He replaced some of the plumbing that was done poorly, and also rerouted a drain line through a wall to the outside of my house. He explained how and when to drain the heater to prevent sediment buildup. Tom's workmanship was clearly superior to the plumber's who installed the heater six years ago. This "affordable" provider also charged $300 more than Tom. I will call Tom for all future plumbing work and recommend him to anyone I know who needs a plumber.

I called Tom on Monday afternoon and he was able to come out to my house on Tuesday morning to install the toilets prior to a party i was having at my house on Tuesday afternoon. Very professional, seemed knowledgeable and the work was done in time for the party. I may call him again to fix a "banging pipe" problem i seem to have under my house. PS: My wine and beer drinking party guests were especially pleased with the work getting done on such short notice!

I called Tom on a Saturday as I discovered my 23 year old water heater was leaking.(Big surprise!)I'm not aware if he keeps Saturday hours,but Tom promptly answered his cell.I explained the problem and he gave me a quote over the phone.(a small dollar range,with a worst case price)He was willing to do the job earlier then Monday if I needed him,but I was willing and able to wait until Monday.He gave me an arrival time for Monday and also called me Monday to let me know when he would be arriving. He picked up and delivered the water heater and arrived with it and all necessary parts.I'm pleased he brought a quality ,American made product.He and his assistant Robert went right to work.They brought everything up to code of course-they put in wood blocking to attach the heater straps,new flex pipes,rerouted the gas line to make it accessible, and put in a gate valve for the water line.They also leveled the metal stand and strapped it to the wall so it couldn't move.After insulating the pipes,They cleaned up the work area well.I'm very happy with their work and will be using them again.

I had a leak on a vertical pipe. The leak was about 3 inches underground. It was a half inch copper pipe. They came out for just two hours and they charged me $337 dollars after the Angie's List discount of $375.

He was on time, professional, clean and fixed the leak by replacing a piece of the pipe that had the leak holes. He ran a snake to clear the drain as a favor. Overall we were very happy with the work Tom did as plumbing issues are always stressful.

This is the second time I called Tom in recent weeks. This time it was to clear a clogged bathtub drain. I had thought it best to replace the drain, but Tom assessed the problem and said that would not be necessary. He and his assistant went to work and had the problem resolved in short order, and for the time being all is well in my house. I'm sure I'll be seeing Tom in the future to solve my plumbing problems. I have been in Ca. for over 45 years and have had 100s of service people work on my home. I can only count on a few fingers of one hand of people I would use again, and Tom is firmly planted there! Called him yesterday and described the problem I was having with the pilot light and was considering repair or replacement. After talking with GE and getting absolutely no suggestions, I decided to replace. Also, my wife was boycotting any more days of house camping. Called Tom this morning at 8:00 and told him replacement was the decision and asked what the approx. cost would be. $1000. He repaired and secured the water lines in the attic and corrected the emergency leak pan drain. He showed up with the new heater at 10:00 and was finished at 12:30. Hot water by 2:00. Very pleasant person, soft spoken and considerate. His assistant was as competent and a very hard working gentleman.

The service was great. It involved breaking into an existing water line in our garage, and installing a new line to drop down to make a connection with an ice maker. Tom did a great job. He was careful not to damage the walls or surrounding fixtures. He didn't waste any time, but neither did he rush, thus eliminating the potential to have to do it again. I'll probably have some additional work in the near future, and I will be giving Tom a call. Great job Tom!

Cleared the main line pretty quickly. The laundry room clean-out was rusted and water would leak from around the plug even when tight so he re-tapped it. Gave his Angie's list discount as well.

Everything went very well. He needed to come back with a part for one of the toilets and called when he had the part and made an appt. with me to return and finish the job He was great.

We have a 57 year-old house with 57 year-old plumbing. We have a badly installed wash machine which is located in our kitchen. Every now and then, when the machine hits it's rinse cycle, it will overflow out the pipes into the kitchen... not optimum. I am the "honey doer" of the house and usually do my own "rotor rootering"... (if that's a word!) and all is well. This time, my efforts, apparently, were not sufficient... and we had a large back-flow leak. I work all day M/F and have an 89 year-old parent under my care. I couldn't just leave work and go home to take care of the problem, so I bit the bullet and decided it was time to pay a pro. I immediately went into Angie's List and found a highly rated plumber, Tom's. I called and he answers his own phone! Super pleasant, friendly and efficient. I was amazed that we could be worked in that day even. I explained that I needed a call before he arrived so I could zip home to meet him and intro him to my parent so she felt safe. He was good with it all and did exactly that. Arrived at the time specified. Fully equipped truck, had a very knowledgeable assistant.. They came in, assessed the situation, released me to go back to work and did an awesome job. Cleared the clog or whatever... was causing the problem and cleaned up the area after they were finished. All in all, a successful and non-stressful ending to what could have been a very stressful and labor intensive one. I would more than gladly use Tom's again for my plumbing needs and highly recommend him and company.

After having done such a good job previously, I asked Tom for an estimate to fix my troublesome bathroom plumbing (that was already old when I moved in the house almost 20 years ago) In the hall bathroom they replaced the rusting old sink bowl, the faucet fixtures, and everything below the counter top, including the corroded old shut off valves and supply lines. The plumbing in this sink was so bad, I had it more or less shut off to prevent leak issues. So I got totally new plumbing in my bathroom sinks, while keeping the existing cabinets. They also replaced a stuck drain control in the bath tub, and replaced my leaking water main shut off valve. Two guys work hard for about five hours. Price include replacement parts. Very satisfied.

I called him yesterday and told him the plumbing symptoms we were having. He thought it was a main line stoppage and he was right. We were very relieved he could come and do the repairs today. He called when he was on his way and arrived promptly. He was very nice, professional and courteous. He presented me with his card right away. His shirt and truck were labeled Tom's Quality Plumbing. He was extremely knowledgeable about plumbing and has been a plumber for 21 years. After he cleared the main line stoppage which was caused by roots, he snaked the entire line to be sure he got them all. Then I asked if he had time to look at some other problems we were having thinking, if he didn't have time to repair them, maybe he could give us an estimate. He did have time to repair all of the things mentioned above and did so in a neat and timely fashion. One of our toilets is a large, green oval shape. The hinges on the seat are broken so he said he would do a search to try and find us a replacement. We were very happy with his work and the price. We will definitely hire him again!

The shower diverter broke, and I could not get the spigot to unscrew. They came the same day I called, and replaced the old spigot in about 30 minutes. I plan to use these again for a bigger job.

I appreciated that Tom responded quickly and the price was fair. He recommended that we have a camera put down the line but he would have to have someone else come and do it. Plus the cost was separate. The other person came out a few days later with Tom. I did not see any actual video -but was told I could get a CD of I- which I did not receive. . I do not recall the actual cost but it was over $200.00. I did not use the "other guy as I felt their was no firm recommendation's and I did not have real confidence. Tom is very personable and responsive. The line did clear , temporarily . This is a cost that is recurring so and the fix is outside the scope of this service which was clearing the line.

On very short notice, Tom came out and removed a broken water heater that was leaking. It was great to work with Tom and I love his "can do" attitude. I will definitely call on Tom in the future!

Tom was very professional and super nice to work with. We asked if we dug all the trenches ourselves if we could save some money, and he told us what he needed done. We had to dig over 30 feet of 12 inch deep trenches. About a week later, we arranged for him to remove the old piping and install new. He did have to dig one area a little more, but overall he helped us save a lot of money. I appreciate that he was so willing to work with us. Once he got there to do the installation, he stayed until it was done (job took from about 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM). I've worked with one other plumbing company on this house, and while I think the prices were about the same (certainly not less), Tom's quality and overall results far exceed what the other plumber did for us. I definitely felt like we got our money's worth. Thanks so much to both Tom and his helper (so sorry - I don't remember his name but he was super nice and helpful, too)!

Made an appointment with Tom to come to the house. He agreed to meet my husband between 530-6pm. He called my husband at 630 saying that he got caught up on a job and wouldn't be able to make it. Tom then asked to reschedule the following day at 630pm. My husband agreed. The next day, Tom called at 6pm and said that he was working late on a job again and wouldn't be able to make it. He then said that he had work scheduled for the next couple of weeks and would have to decline our job. I wish he would have been more up front about his availability before trying to squeeze us in, knowing that he didn't have time to do any work in the coming weeks.

During service request phone call clearly explained replacement options including capacities, efficiencies, and costs. My project was his second of the day and he arrived in the early portion of the projected time window on the day specified. Removed existing water heater, installed improved replacement, and corrected venting that gas company had tagged as unsafe to use because it created a hazardous condition. Installed improved earthquake strapping, completely cleaned up work area, and provided easy to understand descriptive recap. Cost exactly matched what had been quoted. Tom and his assistant were friendly, helpful, and professional. Very satisfied with quality of service provided. Also had very positive experience a year ago with the replacement of two toilets. Tom is the one I will call for any plumbing needs and will recommend him when a friend or neighbor mentions a plumbing problem.
