Not only was he extremely polite from the moment we spoke on the phone, but he was professional and courteous throughout the entire job. As he installed my new water regulator, Tom took the aesthetics of my garden into consideration and set it up so that it was functional yet pleasing to the eye (which is more than I can say about other plumbers out there; most of them just want to get the job done and get out). Furthermore, I could tell that the quality of the parts he used were great and he took great care in making sure that nothing leaked. And most importantly, I felt as though Tom didn't try to scam me out of any money due to his forthright attitude. He gave me some options on what we could do and he left the decision in my hands on what should be done. Tom is coming back sometime next week to fix the leak underneath my sink, and I am looking forward to being impressed again :)
Description of Work: My water regulator was completely broken and had to be replaced. Also, I had a leak underneath my kitchen sink coming from an improperly installed reverse osmosis system.

He repaired a problem that 2 other plumbers had looked at and had not been able to fix. Was done in abt 90 minutes. Definitely would work with him again and recommend to another homeowner.

+ -1 moreWhile one of my houseguests was showering in the master bathroom, we noticed water leaking down through the dining room ceiling. I called Tom and made an appointment for him to come by the next day. He and his assistant arrived promptly and were friendly, polite and professional. They enlarged the hole that the water had made in the ceiling, and spent some time determining the cause of the leak. They determined that the leak was not in the plumbing itself, but was due to water coming through a gap in the shower enclosure through the wall. Since it wasn't a plumbing problem but rather a construction issue, they recommended a contractor to fix the problem. They also replaced the flapper on a toilet that had been running. Terry and his assistant were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would call them again.

Description of Work: My husband and I have lived in our own house in Orange, CA since 2000. We have been plagued with recurring drainage problems with our kitchen sink for years. We have hired many different plumbers (not on Angie's List) who have tried to fix it, only to have it recur. Last October we hired a plumber who came to our house, did an inspection and told us "we have a drainage problem," but never returned or contacted us by phone. The water damage to our wood flooring in the hall (from seeping water) was so bad we wanted to replace the floor, but without fixing the drainage problem, this had to wait. Tired of playing "plumber roulette," we joined ANGIE'S LIST on 10/23/11. On 1/10/12, the problem recurred yet again, with standing water in the hall closet. IT SMELLED AWFUL! We checked Angie's List of 2011's Best & Worst Contractors which had just come in the mail. My husband called TOM FREULER of TOM'S QUALITY PLUMBING in Anaheim, CA. Just one hour later, Tom and his assistant, Robert, came to our rescue. From the beginning to the end of the job, I was impressed with Tom's professionalism and courtesy. He quickly diagnosed the problem, and set to work. I'm sure he thought this would be only a 2-3 hour job. He performed the snaking of the drains, followed by using the video camera to locate the source of blockage. There was a problem near the connection of the house's main drainage pipe and the main sewer line to the street, so they dug down to expose the pipe. The hole in the flowerbed was easily 4 feet deep, but they had to keep digging, under the sidewalk, to expose the area well enough to begin repairs. They found that the previous plumber had NOT installed a Clean-Out drain for access. Also, they found broken pipe that had allowed the growth of roots and debris into the pipes which only added to our problems. Determined to finish the job, (which took 7 hours in all), Tom and his team of assistants repaired the broken pipe, installed the Clean-Out drain and cleaned up all the work areas. They were able to replace ALL of the dirt removed while digging the hole, which greatly pleased me. They even hosed down the patio and sidewalk areas, leaving everything very neat and clean.

+ -1 moreI called Tom earlier in the day to unclog a toilet. He said he could come at approximately 4pm. I called later and he said that he would be delayed but he could send someone else in a little while. I agreed and Joe came out with an assistant and they spent a long time on the problem, as it was worse than expected. They checked the main line and were working the full time that they were there.They finished the job and cleaned up nicely after they were done. I couldn't be happier with their service and I would highly recommend them and definitely use them again!

+ -1 moreWe called the evening before the work to ask about an estimate. We talked with the owner, Tom, and he said he would arrive at 8:30 am in the morning to provide the estimate and would be ready to do the work. We had called another company and they provided an estimate that was $1000 higher at 8am that same morning. Tom gave the estimate and stated that he would be able to take a direct route to the house by hydro tunneling under the 18 foot porch. The other estimates had all intended to route around the porch increasing the length by about 20 feet. We decided to go with Tom and they started right away. They had the water line re-connected by about 12:30 and the job was done and cleaned up by 4:30. Tom and his crew were friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend Tom to anyone and he is now my go-to plumber.
Description of Work: Replaced the water supply line from the meter to the house. This also involved the removal and reconnection of the sprinkler lines coming from the main supply. This was a run of about 55 feet.

+ -1 moreI asked Tom to come out and replace the shut-off valve on the side of my house. He quoted me an approximate cost of $300, for the shut-off valve replacement. It was an old original gate valve and was rusty and worn. When he came out, he noted that my regulator (the device that regulates the water pressure coming into the home, protecting the home from excessive pressure) was in the wrong place and was not regulating the water pressure going into my water heater. He asked me if I wanted to have the piping re-worked so that the regulator was moved to the right place. I decided to go ahead and have him do this extra work, which was quoted at $500 ($450 with the Angie's List coupon). He replaced all of the parts on the side of the house, with the exception of the regulator which was still working fine. He put in beautiful new copper piping and a wonderful easy-to-use valve. Now I can turn off the water to my house with one finger. He had to dig up the dirt to replace the piping, and when he was done, the ground was put back together very nicely. He honored the 10% off Angie's List coupon and told me about the warranty on his work (I believe it was 1 year). Tom was very personable as was the gentleman who was working with him (whose name escapes me right now). I would definitely use Tom again for plumbing work.
Description of Work: Replace shut-off valve, along with other plumbing on the side of the house (regulator left alone since it was working okay).

One of the sinks was cracked while installing, Tom took care of it quickly so that there was no delay in construction. He pointed out a scratch on a faucet that I would never have seen and replaced it at his own cost. His honesty and professionalism insures that I will use him for all future plumbing work!
Description of Work: Tom was a subcontractor used by our builder during a bathroom remodel and addition. All new lines, drains and vents had to be run, two pedestal sinks installed, new toilet and brand new shower space with dual heads installed. His price was included in our overall contract but I would use him no matter what. He listened to me when we spoke and he double checked every measurement with me. His installation was flawless.

+ -1 moreI chose Tom because of all the positive reviews on Angie's list. The shower valve in the master bedroom had a slow leak and Tom replaced the shower valve and shower arm to fix the problem. The tub spout diverter in another bathroom was frozen and would not change from shower mode to tub faucet mode. He replaced the spout and shower arm as well. Everything works great. Tom explained everything to me and I gave the ok. He charges $125 as a minimum fee. Not sure how his price compares to other plumbers as I did not get other quotes. I was very satisfied with his work and will call him again in the future.
Description of Work: Fixed shower leak in master bedroom. Replaced tub spout.

Description of Work: On a Friday, we had no hot water and expected guest for the weekend. Called Tom's Quality Plumbing and he came over that same morning and told us the water heater replacement part has to be UPS from another state. + -1 moreTom arrived on time. He informed we that there was a minimum $125 service charge for showing up which was not disclosed during our phone conversation. Since he was going to charge me anyway I let him dig up the pipe to find the leak. He provided a quote on patching the pipe and replacing the pipe. The quote seemed pretty high for both so I asked him to see if he could put a clamp on the pipe to try to slow the leak while I decide on what to do. The leak appeard to have increased after he left. This may not have been attributed to the loosed soil but after he left I had water flowing down my walkway and driveway which was not happening before. Overall he appeared knowledgable. I wished he had disclosed the service charge ahead of time. I ultimately went with another company because the quote was significantly less and they had correctly assessed the situation without having to dig up my yard.
Description of Work: Gave estimate on repairing broken pipe. Dug up leaking section of pipe and placed a clamp in an attempt to slow the leak.

When he arrived he quickly assessed the needs and then I asked him if he had time to replace my faucet. He said absolutely! He was able to replace everything quickly. + 1 moreI had the smelly bathroom and could not figure out whether it was the toilet or bathtub that is causing it. Tried to use bleach several times, but didn't work. The water from the bathtub was not draining fast enough. Called Tom's Quality Plumbing and he checked on the toilet as well as the bathtub. He had to replace the central knob which was defective and also changed the pipe that goes into the wall, but still the water was not draining and then he found out that the problem was at the bottom of the tub that drains into the P-trap. Either the bath had to be taken apart or cut off a portion of the side of the wall to get to the bottom of the bathtub. It would be more expensive if he had to remove the tub, so he got it done by digging at the bottom of the tub and getting to replace the pipe going to the P-trap, which saved me some money.
Description of Work: I had problem with the bathroom, there was problem with bathtub drainage and there was foul smell. The plumber tried to figure out what the problem was and figured out that the p-trap was having drainage problem. He had to open up part of the sidewall to see under the tub and found water leaking outside. Had to remove soil and rocks underneath, cut off the part of the pipe and replace it with new. It took about 5 hours and was finally working fine. He did a good job in identifying the problem and working to fix it.

He was there in just a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. He completed his work in about an hour and only charged $170 (for two or three different clogged drains). He gave me a 10% Angieslist discount too.
Description of Work: I called because we had an emergency with the bathtub backing up. It was a Sunday and I was worried no one would come out without charging a fortune. I was pleasantly surprised.

Very professional, arrived exactly when he said he would, assessed source of my water leak, gave me two suggestions (repair or replace) with the cost of each and the likelihood of further problems with each and absolutely NO PRESSURE. He replaced the spigot, resolved the leak, charged exactly what he quoted, and completed the whole transaction in less than 20 minutes.

+ 0 moreAt 12 noon, I was in the downstairs bathroom, used it, flushed and water spurted up with excrement. I had a flood. I went on Angie's List, found Tom is in Anaheim and called. He answered and said he was driving but I should call and leave a voice mail message which I did. I called back to make sure he got my message and told me he would be at my house by 2 pm. He arrived and did his work. He pulled out a piece of paper towel that someone mistakenly flushed. No one in my home will claim the deed. Tom said he has a minimum trip charge of $125, but I was eligible for the Angie's List discount which brought it down to $112.00.
Description of Work: Tom used an auger several times to unplug a downstairs toilet.

Description of Work: I wrote back in April 2010 after an experience I had with this company. I felt, due to not knowing anything about this company, that we maybe "taken". I wrote on angie's list my concerns. Our plumber was over the top enthusiastic which made us even more leery. I recieved a telephone call from one of the company's employees stating he read the Angies list rating and was concerned that i was not real happy. I had a very nice conversation with Mike who turned out to be the owners son. He explained everything to me which, after he explained it, it made sense. He wanted to send the supervisor out to see what else could be done to make me happy. A couple of days later, Robert came out and after looking at the job comleted by their employee, he told me that he could put a box in the wall for no charge but it still would not make it flush with the wall. I declined the offer due to it not making a big difference. At the time of the job being completed, the plumber did not discuss alternatives. I am impressed by the seriousness they take about their company. they sent out another person to see if there was more they could do to make me happy. they are honest stating they are not the cheapest plumbing company in OC. i appreciate them taking the time calling me several times, sending out a second person and listening to what i had to say. They even reimbursed me for the Diamon Club i had signed up for.

+ 1 moreIt was refreshing to talk to a caring professional in the construction industry. Tom not only solved my plumbing issues and concerns, but explained in laymen's language the cause and side effects of all my problems. He educated me about how plumbing issues occur and what the solutions are. On some of my problems, he taught me how to fix the issues next time it happens. In addition, he showed me ways to prevent clogging and improve the drainage of my system. Moreover, Tom even showed me how to get hot water instantly via the Hot water heater and plumbing system. Tom was able to complete the repairs on the spot and did so within an hour for a reasonable fee. I am not handy in the home but even I learnt a few things from Tom. I recommend any homeowner who is going through a major or minor remodel to have Tom's Quality Plumbing inspect the home's plumbing system and experience first hand, how to transform your home's plumbing to function at the optimum level of performance.
Description of Work: Tom came to inspect the plumbing of my home. I had the plumbing redone in 2006 when I remodeled my home. However, I have had numerous issues with the installation of the faucets and other minor issues. H elistened attentively to my needs and concerns. He inspected the plumbing system (pipes etc) and all the faucet issues.
