Dan the Handyman

Dan booked us two weeks in advance and arrived at the scheduled appointment time. He was also thoughtful enough to call 30 minutes before his arrival to tell us he was on his way. He arrived and promptly followed our list of things to do and completed them without taking a break. He kept every room neat and clean in which he worked and was very friendly, courteous and professional. This is the first time I've used the services of a handyman and it was sure a good experience. It saved me a lot of time.

Dan came the same day, removed old galvanized fittings and installed new mechanism. He was fast and accurate. He also gave me a referral for construction I was planning.

Dan was clean professional and courteous. He knew everything that he was doing and provided a great service at a reasonable cost. He was able to install all my hardware and do the electrical work in about a day and a half. He was very meticulous about the hardware and took his time to make sure everything was right.

Dan was very prompt and reliable. His work was detailed and cleanly done. We will have him out again for more work.

I have hired Dan a total of 3 times so far. At first I had him just do the picture hanging. He did such a neat & meticulous job that I then hired him a couple more times. His wife is an artist and he has a good eye for art so he knew just how to hang the pictures to make them look their best. I had him come back to do weather stripping and again he was extremely neat and did great work. Finally, I hired him to help me put together a second garage cabinet after my husband and I ran out of steam putting together the first one. He was super fast at this because he has assembled many similar pieces of furniture. It took him an hour whereas it took my husband and I 7 hours for the first one! (Admittedly, we're old and less limber than we were once.) Then he installed both closets and a couple of sets of shelves along our rear garage wall. It turned out that the floor there had a steep angle to it so he had to shim the front of the shelves and cabinets. He did this all quickly and neatly and then turned his attention to an old rotten shutter. He bought the materials and built me a new shutter and primed it. I don't remember exactly how much I paid him but he worked for nearly three days total, spaced over a couple of months - at approximately $500 per day ($65/hour). Typically, one has a fair amount of interaction with a handyman and Dan is extremely pleasant and polite to work with. I will not hesitate to hire him again and I strongly recommend his work.

It went very well. Dan was here on time and came prepared to install a needed door knob as well as insulation needed for my Dutch door. He called me the night before to verify the appointment. He worked three hours which included the trip to the hardware store. I pretty much described what he did in the notes above. I find him very trust worthy and reliable. I would say the price he charged which included the cost of the door knob and insulation was fair taking in consideration his professional background.

From the initial contact until his final work for us today (at least for the time being), every contact with Dan has been wonderful. He answered promptly when I first contacted him, called the night before every appointment to confirm, and arrived precisely on time each time. Dan works quietly and efficiently and obviously takes pride in his work. He is meticulous and pays attention to details. The only time I even knew Dan was in the house was when he had a question to assure he was doing just what I wanted. I can't speak highly enough about Dan's work ethic and the excellence with which he performs every repair. He is well-organized, and professional as he goes about his work. I will definitely use Dan's services in the future and recommend him without reservation.

He was great to work with and was very prompt. He had to drill some holes and cut out things to put in the dog door and he cleaned up everything once he was done. He was very polite and took care of everything. He was wonderful and I am getting ready to call him back again.

Working with Dan was great. I initially sent him an email requesting his services. He got back to me right away and then we set up a date when he could stop by the house to see the various projects I had lined up. From there we quickly arranged a work date. My To-Do list was lengthy, but Dan was able to get through the long lingering items that we were just never able to tackle including: replacing the front door shoe boot and shoring up the step at the door; adjusting a light fixture, replacing missing baseboards and priming; hanging fixtures, the list goes on... Dan is a pleasure to work with and we look forward to working with him again.

We?ve enjoyed our totally remodeled kitchen for almost exactly a year, but the kitchen faucet started to loosen. To tighten it from below, we needed a basin wrench, which we don?t have. So we decided to call in a handyman to do that plus some other little jobs. (I guess we can no longer call our kitchen ?new? if something needs to be fixed. It?s sort of like that first scratch on a new car.) Dan the Handyman stood out on Angie?s List as one of the local best, so we gave him a call. He replied the next day, and he came out this afternoon. Dan was here for three and a half hours. He fixed the faucet (because we don?t have that pesky basin wrench). He hung a sort-of heavy picture on the newly painted wall of our once-new, now-old kitchen (because I was afraid to attempt the job, screw it up, and then endure an unhappy wife). He installed some spacers in an electrical outlet such that I can now attach a wall plate and it won?t look funny. (Remember, Dan?s motto is ?no job too small.?) Finally, he spent most of his time running a new electrical line from a junction box underneath the house to an outlet he installed on the building?s exterior front (so we can hang a lighted wreath on the façade next Christmas). I would probably have electrocuted myself had I tried this, um, at home. Dan is an urban treasure. He?s a h*** of a nice fellow and his work is impeccable. I wish we?d had more stuff for him to do. I?m keeping his business card accessible from the rest of the clutter. There?s no need to go further down Angie?s List looking for a handyman. Dan?s your guy.

Dan was quick to respond, and fit me in the same day. He did quality work quickly, and tried to get as much done in 2 hours as possible.

He was punctual, courteous, knowledgable and the cost was reasonable. What more can I say?

Dan was easy to communicate with - email and phone. We set a start time for both days and he arrived right on time. He brings his tools and general supplies. He is meticulous and a great worker. He just jumps right in and gets the work done. I have his next list ready for early spring.

He did a good job on everything. Very prompt and efficient. Always showed up on time. He even scheduled me on a Saturday knowing that I needed to have the whole house filter system replaced right away because the old one was leaking! He installed the new pedestrian door to my garage. Took him a morning to do so because he had to pick up the door I purchased from Home Depot, bring it here, install it. He also had to run out to get a trim to make the install look right. Very pleased with the work. I'll definitely hire him again. In fact, I'm waiting for him to figure out a way to install locks on my front gates to my backyard. He needed to find the right parts and he would contact me once he finds the right parts. He really saved me a lot of time; otherwise, these fixes would never get done or done RIGHT!

Dan arrived, on time, got straight to work and was finished quickly, minimizing cost and inconvenience. It was a no stress experience, and I was very happy with the results.

Dan came promptly and was very nice. He quickly took down the siding on the broken pocket door to see what the problem was. I had to leave for work and I left him a key just in case. He discovered after I left that to repair the door, the part required was a semi custom part so he was only able to repair the one door that day and they had to special order the parts for the other 2 doors. He called and asked if I wanted to repair all of them at once or do the one door now and the others later. I decided to do one now and the other later. He repaired the first pocket door and left no trace that he was there except for the fact that the door now worked perfectly. Then he came back the following week and fixed the other two. In the meantime our kitchen ceiling light fan started flickering and going off. He diagnosed the problem as a bad light switch and fixed that too. He's great and I'd definitely use him again!

I had a "list" for priorities. He went about accomplishing each quickly. It only took a few hours. I was very pleased. Professional approach and very friendly. He wore a Dan Handyman t-shirt. Had I spotted him in a store just by the way he looks, I would have asked for his card! Thanks, Angie!

As always, he was knowledgeable and did the job in a flash with no muss, no fuss. The only thing is you must call him very early in the morning to get an appointment. You snooze....

He is efficient, clean, tries to save us money, he will fix rather than replace. He is prompt, doesn't waste time, communicates well. We are really happy with him, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Also when there is something that he can't do he has good referrals.

Dan did an excellent job. He was neat and tidy and cleaned up after the job was finished. I would definitely hire Dan again for various handyman jobs around our home.
