+ -1 moreSergio and his crew showed up on time, worked extremely hard at laying the foundation and subsequent brickwork, and had the entire job done in two days. The wall looks fabulous and we were impressed with how much attention to detail was given and how professional they were. We never had to go out and check to see how things were going. We were kept up to date on their progress and quite honestly never heard them working. They actually showed up and started the job early! We were impressed with their workmanship, their pricing, and their quick results. We would absolutely use them again!

You can tell he takes pride in the job he does and wants it to look the very best. He didn't just send over workers to do the work, he was on sight making sure everything was done correctly.
Description of Work: He extended a wall 9 feet on one side of my home and constructed a pony wall around my approximately 5 feet high by 4 ft wide and 6 ft long and stuccoed it to match my home.

He was very pleasant to work with and took pride in his work. I would recommend him to any of my friends and family without reservation.

+ -1 moreMy experience with Verdugo Masonry was 100% positive. We were adding a very large block wall (270 linear feet) to our property and received a total of 4 bids. Verdugo Masonry was on average approximately $3500 less expensive than all of the other bids. Sergio did/does exactly what he said he is going to do. He said said that the job would take no more than 2 weeks (10 work days) and sure enough mid way through the 10th day they were done. He said they would start each day at 8 and sure enough at 7:59 each day his trucks would be pulling up. The footer, wall and stucco were all done to a high standard and they look great. My wife and I are extremely satisfied customers and would gladly use/recommend Verdugo Masonry in the future.

+ 0 moreSergio had to drive a long way to get to my home north of the city. He was later than expected but kept me informed of his progress. He was professional and knowledgable about the job. I felt he was out of his normal teritorial range and therefore used a comparable bid from a contractor just 3 miles from my home. Sergio did not paint which was part of the project and the chosen contractor did the whole job. I would have hired Sergio, even though his bid was slightly higher, if he had also done the painting to finish my project.

+ -1 moreWonderful. Sergio and his crew were considerate, punctual and did an excellent job. He quoted 7 business days for the job to be completed, it actually only took only 3 1/2 days from the date he started till the job was complete. His crew did a wonderful cleanup of the yard after their work was complete. I was so impressed with the work and professionalism that I have asked Sergio for a quote on having a section of the wall cut away and a double wood gate installed so I can drive my vehicles in the backyard, along with a new wooden side gate to match my new 6-foot wall.
Description of Work: Sergio raised my block wall (approx 265 linear feet) so it would be at least 6 feet throughout and recapped the entire block wall. Approximately 14 linear feet of wall repair on a corner section that that shifted.

+ 0 moreI called Mr. Verdugo on the 25th and he came out that afternoon. He measured the distance I wanted fenced and came up with a excellent price without having to hagal. I was expecting this to cost a lot more. I was also pleased to find out he was lic. and bonded as most of the small contractors are not. They started the next day and finished by noon of the 27th. All of his workers were very friendly and there work was excellent. There clean up was very good as well. I would also like to point out the temp. was 105 and no complaining from anyone. I picked Mr. Verdugo to call first as it seemed he had the best record and fewest complaints in the reviews. When he quoted the price and I knew he was lic. and bonded I didn't need to look any more. I have some more work to be done and will be using Verdugo. Honesty if you need any masonary work to be done and don't give Sergio a call you'll probably regret it. He also mentioned that Angie's list has been great for him so don't forget to tell him you got his name from Angie's list.

Description of Work: They increased the height of a patio wall by adding three additional rows of blocks. Unlike the other contractor that gave an estimate, Verdugo recommended installing vertical re-bar to strengthen the wall extension due to the fact that we were going over the usual max of two rows. The work quality was excellent and completed as agreed. They matched the existing wall color perfectly.

+ -1 moreSergio Verdugo did an estimate of the repair work on my banco and explained exactly what he planned to do. He was able to schedule the work a bit earlier than originally planned and finished it in the estimated time. He and his assistant arrived promptly, worked constantly each day and the finished banco is as good as new, if not better. The painter said that it was a really good job. I am extremely pleased with the work done.
Description of Work: A banco in my patio was cracking and had areas of stucco falling off of it. Verdugo Masonry did the estimate and stucco repair. Painting will be done by another contractor after the stucco has cured for a month.

+ -1 moreTerrific! I have no complaints - and I'm not always easy to work for. I'm very attentive to the details of a project. I want it to be built to last and to be technically perfect. I want to note that Sergio is an expert manager. He manages the skill and time of his crew and makes sure the job is efficient. For example, he knew the team could prep the site and begin demolition while he looked in on another job. They worked equally as hard while Sergio was here as when he was away. When the team came to the more technical part of the job, Sergio was right there working side by side with his men. I saw him give them directions and instructions and he was clear and respectful. I'd also like to note that Sergio went the extra mile in finishing off a place where the original bricks had been cut on a diagonal. Because of a new landscape/fence design, this unfinished edge was going to be visible. Sergio could have proposed that we demolish part of that wall and rebuild it, but without my input he did an artistic finish to that rough spot. He purchased special tinted compounds for the cement and with that he created the look of brick. That was a gift! I'd whole heartedly recommend Sergio for your project!
Description of Work: Sergio and team demolished a 90' wall, built a new wall 86', and repaired a 12' section of wall. Unique to this demolition was my strong desire to reuse as many bricks as possible. This was more for aesthetic reasons than for cost savings. Sergio and his team were careful in the demolition; cleaned the mortar off and reused many bricks; and left a very clean work site. Sergio built a new 86' wall, 4' high. Sergio was very resourceful in finding bricks that coordinated with reused bricks. This was key because 3 of our lot lines are brick and the community of 100+ houses all have the same brick on the houses and walls. Thus, a different brick would have been an eyesore. Sergio and team built this 4 ' wall alongside a poured concrete retaining wall, thus "dressing up' the retaining wall. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was great. For example, Sergio matched the mortar line of the bricks where possible to make it look like the walls had been built at the same time! We had about a 12' section of wall that was leaning. Sergio assessed the problem, took down the part of the wall that was "bad" and rebuilt this wall. Key to this project was matching the pitch, mortar and bricks to the adjacent wall. All was done with expertise!

+ -1 moreThe water line into the house ruptured underneath a brick patio. Sergio gave us a fair price for the patio to be replaced. Since only a portion of the patio needed to be replaced putting the bricks back in the same pattern was very difficult. When the job was finished we couldn't even tell the difference between the old and new work. Sergio was very professional and a joy to work with.

After thoroughly researching the project I had in mind, I thought the estimate Mr. Verdugo gave me was very fair, if not difficult to beat. After carefully considering several masonry companies; I decided Verdugo Masonry was right for me... and I have absolutely no regrets. Sergio's 30+ years of masonry experience shows; he and his crew are punctual, hardworking, appreciative and VERY skilled. Building the wall around my yard took 10 working days, which was a couple days short of the time he quoted me. As I previously stated, I am beyond happy with the work performed, in fact I have a couple more projects I am going to hire Sergio for in the near future as his work, professionalism, and friendliness are top-notch. Additionally, two of my immediate neighbors are envious of the end result and urged me to provide them with Sergio's business card as they now have ideas for a few projects they envision being executed to perfection as was done with my beautiful, masonry wall. I truly can't state how happy I am that I went with Verdugo Masonry!
Description of Work: First of all I would like to state that Sergio Verdugo exceeded my (already high) expectations and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the work performed. Sergio and his crew erected a 6 foot high block wall around my backyard which is well over 200 linear feet and because of the hill my property stands on, included approximately 150' of retaining wall ranging from 1-2.5' high; needless to say, a relatively big project. I had an older wooden fence that Sergio removed and hauled off for me as well.

I thought the estimate was fair and asked when he could begin. Surprisingly, he said on Wednesday. Sergio arrived on time and worked through the day to complete in one day a job I thought would take at least two. He hauled away the debris and returned my yard to it's original configuration. I am pleased with his work and readily recommend Sergio for any masonry issues
Description of Work: I needed to have a section of wall replaced that had separated from my house and pinched the gate, preventing it from opening. Apparently the footer had shifted and needed to be replaced.

He arrived when he said he would, completed the job in a timely and workmanlike manner, and cleaned up completely. He returned to check that the stucco had not cracked. His price was reasonable. I would not hesitate to use him again and do recommend him to you.
