Sergio was great to work with! I have an old adobe house and had some bricks that needed to be patched/repaired. He came out and gave me a fair quote right away and then scheduled the work. He did a great job and was so nice throughout the process. He then came back after he was finished to touch up a few areas. I will definitely call him again when I need this kind of work.
Description of Work: Repairing some adobe bricks around the house and patio
We have hired Sergio to do a number of small jobs over the last 2 years. Everything turned out good. Sergio is great about returning my calls and comes when he says he will. Sometimes when he can't make it, he has called to reschedule. Sergio and the people he has helping him have always been friendly and conscientious and he made us feel safe doing jobs during Covid times.

Mr Verdugo came on on 4/12 as we scheduled to provide an estimate. No other companies I sent the request to responded. I had to follow up with him five (5) days later as he had not provided the estimate. I got the estimate later that day with no explanation as to what I was paying for. Finally received that information. We agreed over the phone/text to his price and the scope of work. From that point on I never heard from him. I repeatedly had to follow up to see when he was going to bring a contract and schedule the work. Finally, he committed to May 1st. On May 1st I got a text that he would not be coming as "his main man was sick". Later in the day, more or the real story came out as to why he couldn't do the work. Mr. Verdugo backed out of the job that day after I wasted three weeks dealing with him. I believe him to be an unreliable, non-communicative, and unprofessional businessman. He in no part of our business dealings lived up to his commitment; I lost three valuable weeks to get the work done.

The owner, Sergio, came out and gave us an estimate, saying the work could be done in 1 day. He came out the day before so we could sign for the job. They showed up the next day at 8 am and were done by 3 pm. The columns were reinforced with rebar which wasn't done before,
Description of Work: Our block wall separated from 2 corner columns and needed to be re-connected, fixing the footers as well. As a result, parts of the wall near both columns had to be re-built.

Sergio Verdugo responded promptly. He was careful and thoughtful in planning and estimating to maintain the integrity of our 1951 Ranch style home. We accepted the estimate and though the exact bricks were no longer available he carefully chose and cut bricks for the wall and gate posts that look very close to the original. He is an artist and clearly has been perfecting his craft over the years. I would not hesitate to recommend or hire again.
Description of Work: We wanted a masonry wall raised to improve privacy in the patio. We also needed a cap added to a section of the front wall to match and some patching done where the house has settled.

Called and got an estimate the same day no problems; note that quoting here isn't very formal but it was fine for the work they did and payment a breeze so good for me. The job then went fine - the masonry part of the job adding to the wall was well done (a little light on the clean up but nothing awful, just know ahead of time that you won't have a pristine job site). The pillars they added by the gate look OK and seem structurally sound but may have been slightly off in measurement for the gate, then their attempt at re-hanging of the gate was somewhat botched but they also didn't balk when I told them to stop attempting it and just not charge me for that. They actually told me up front this was something they normally didn't do so it is partially my fault for going ahead with it. The price seemed reasonable for the work. If I had another straightforward masonry job I would consider hiring them again.

The steel mailboxes in our community are cemented into roadside masonry pillars. Some unknown miscreant apparently ran into my mailbox (but not the post), damaging the mailbox so extensively that I had to replace it. I purchased a larger mailbox, and contacted Sergio Verdugo to install it. I did not seek competitive bids, but just asked him to do the job. Because the new mailbox was larger than the old one, he and his assistant George had to chisel, saw, and jackhammer the concrete pillar to enlarge the hole to house the mailbox. The concrete was hard, about 20 years old, and Sergio complained that it was the hardest concrete he had ever had to deal with. Hours later the job was done and the mailbox was cemented into place. Unfortunately, Sergio did not check in with me to consult about placement of the new mailbox, so it ended up being inserted into the post farther than I would have liked, was slightly cockeyed, and the clean-up was not ideal (some stucco remained on the mailbox)--hence the lower score for "quality." The cost was more than I expected it to be, but most likely that is because of the extra time and labor involved in enlarged the cavity. But I'm a newcomer to the area, and have no feeling for what things should cost. Although I indicated I would use Sergio Verdugo's services again in the future, I will seek competitive bids next time.

The crew showed up on time, wall was finished within the time frame given. Some days they worked all day. A couple days, only part of the day. I think they were finishing up another job. And parts of the wall needed to set up before another section could be completed. The crew was professional and cleaned up afterwards. Very happy with how it looks.

The staff at Verdugo were very prompt to contact me and came right over to assess the issue I was having. He had excellent ideas on how to repair the block wall and provided a very reasonable quote. Unfortunately I could not get my neighbor to authorize the repair / wall raising and therefore could not get the work done. They are rated number one in Tucson for a reason.

Sergio's estimate was fair in comparison to others. His crew showed up when they said they would and worked hard for 2 days to complete the work. The fellow laying the block did an excellent job in rounding the wall angles. The young man laying the pavers did an excellent job of properly preparing the base prior to paver installation and then completing the installation beautifully. I was amazed that it all only took 2 days. Everything was properly cleaned up afterward. I waited 3 weeks prior to writing this review in order to insure that the stucco finish cured properly with no cracking. It looks great and I am very pleased with every aspect of this project. I would use Sergio again for similar work and highly recommend him.

House has a brick street-facing wall. Kitchen drain needed repair, the pipe was embedded inside the brick wall, and the plumber went through the exterior of the wall. The plumber carefully sawed and removed by jack hammer only the exterior layer of brick and some of the center structure of brick, but did not alter or damage the innermost brick (i.e. the house interior). After the plumber completed his work there was a gap on the exterior of 1.5 bricks width and 5 bricks height. Checked Angie's List to get best affordable masonry firm. Verdugo was at the top. Verdugo came out for an estimate within 24 hours. I showed him some spare brick of similar dimension and I suggested he could use that. He said, No, what you need is slump brick (distinctive rounded outer surface), and he'd have to find and bring some special. Made sense to me. I asked him to cut just enough brick cut to fill in the hole. He said, No, what you want is to replace any half-remaining bricks or anything that had been modified by the plumber. I said yes to that. The job would require a lot of careful cuts and cutouts of replacement exterior brick while leaving a gap in the replacement brick to accommodate the newly repaired plumbing. So, careful and precise work. The next day he showed up with one extra crew. They laid down covering materials for their cement mixing; they needed a power cord; they took barely a 10 or fifteen minute break; they were done inside 4 or 5 hours. The final product looked perfectly integrated into the brick wall from a structure and texture standpoint. Once it is painted, which the rest of the brick wall is, the repair should be invisible. A tiny bit of cement fell onto the xeriscape crushed rock, no big deal. The work itself was flawless.

I left before it was finished but the patio is nice, and my family reported on the progress and sent final pictures. It looks very nice as I expected from the other work he has done recently.
Description of Work: I had 2 sections of wall built already around my back and side yards, then had a paver patio built and the last part was to build another 70 Ft block wall on the other half of my yard. It is a large property and had ugly chain link. Sergio's team has been working on this for the past 6 weeks, in increments.

I was extremely pleased with the constant contact that Mr. Verdugo had with me as to when they would begin the work. Initially, he stated that the work could be completed in 3 days. His contract stated that it would be guaranteed to be completed within 6 days. The actual work took Mr. Verdugo and his crew 1 1/2 days to complete! I was so thrilled as I have two dogs that need to go out into the backyard frequently. The workers were wonderful and extremely productive. My front and backyards were cleaned up meticulously after the work was completed. I would definitely recommend Mr. Verdugo's company to anyone needing masonry work. They also do landscaping with pavers for anyone interested.

Sergio has a great team; they worked steadily in professional manner, and completed this project in 2 separate phases, to fit my schedule and budget. They stuck to estimated time frame for completion and did a good cleanup job. I am so pleased with my wall, as it will give us privacy and has reduced area noise level. It is also greatly improving my ability to make use of my yard with a privacy and safety. I am planning to do the next phase, which is to complete a paver and sand patio. Thank you!

Sergio Verdugo came out that same morning and gave me an estimate and an extremely reasonable price compared to other people I had talked to. I signed a contract for the work that morning Sergio and his team showed up at 7 a.m. on the following morning (July 17th) and began work on the demolition of the old wall. Over the course of the next four days, his team worked like a flawlessly smooth machine to take down the old wall and put up the new. The team was finished with their final clean up of everything by 3pm on Friday, June 20th. | So, in the course of four days, Verdugo Masonry took down and hauled away the old wall (including the concrete footers) and put up ~110 feet of new wall (including footer and header). The teams was incredibly efficient, incredibly friendly, incredibly hard-working and all around amazing. It was incredible to peak out the back every hour or so and see how much work had been done! And can I point out that it is also the middle of June? 105 degrees didn't seem to slow them down at all! | After having talked to a couple other contractors, I actually thought this work would be out of our price-range and something we'd have to put off but not only did Verdugo Masonry charge a very reasonable rate but they always started and finished the job all within the same week I called! |The quality of the work is fabulous, the crew did a great job of clean up and haul away, and they were a pleasant group of guys to have working in the back yard. HIGH RECOMMEND!
Description of Work: I called Verdugo Masonry on June 16, 2014 to get a quote for putting up ~110 feet of block wall, as well as demolishing ~50 feet of existing block wall. Total work done: ~110 feet of block wall (8x8x16 concrete blocks) = $4000 Demolition and haul away of ~50 feet block wall = $600 for a total of $4600

He did quite a bit for us and we were very happy with all of it. Their bids were very reasonable compared to everyone else. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it. All of the work was of a very high standard so there were no issues whatsoever.
Description of Work: We used Verdugo Masonry because we had a weird wavy patio in the back that was too low. They poured one over it that was higher and bigger. They rebuilt a block wall that was 30 or 40 feet. They built an adobe wall and poured a slab for a hot tub I was building. They also built the stem wall for it.
