Joe came at the time we agreed upon, looked at the roof, and said the roof was fine - and he didn't feel it needed to be re-coated at this time. He said he'd do the work if I wanted him to, but that the roof was fine in his opinion. I asked him if he could ballpark an estimate for me (since I don't believe he'd even taken measurements once he'd seen the roof condition), and he quoted an approximate price that was essentially the same as an estimate I'd received earlier (who had coated my roof the last time it was done), and who I had do the work this time. Next time I need roof work done I would not hesitate to call this firm for an estimate because of the competitive price quote, the honesty in telling me the work was not necessary (but he'd still do it if I wanted him to), and the promptness with which he responded to my call for an estimate and when he showed up.

It was great. They were punctual and dressed up inside and did the job. The people who came out to do the job were very professional and nice. It’s been two months since I had the project done and I am assuming it is going to hold up.

Estimator showed up on time. Crews were here exactly on time. Polite, friendly, you could tell they liked working together.

We are extremely impressed with Roof Coating Specialist: this is clearly a very high quality company. We got three quotes and Roof Coating Specialist's was actually the lowest. But perhaps as importantly, we really liked Joe (the owner, who came out to give us our quote). Joe has been in the business for a long time, and it is clear that he knows what he is talking about and that he also runs a very tight ship. Not surprisingly, Joe's workers arrived just when they said they would, were polite, friendly, and professional, completely cleaned up after themselves, and did some extra repairs on a couple of other slight problems that they found for no additional charge. We are already noticing that the house is staying much cooler since they redid our roof coating -- we bought the house "as is" two years ago so have no idea when the roof was last coated (probably some years ago) so we expect quite some savings on our cooling bills this summer. We also have a three year guarantee on the work that was done and couldn't be happier with our choice.

We have a circa 1955 adobe ranch style home with approx 2350 sq ft flat (slightly slanted) built up roof with a failing elastomeric layer and cracks in several areas of the roof which needed replacement and/or repair. Got several estimates. All estimators agreed that the roof is old 20+ years. Roof Coating Specialist ( RCS ) estimate was the lowest of the bunch, although I must say that the other estimates from other companies wanted to tear off our existing built up roof coatings and lay down a whole new roof or foam system, which probably accounts for the higher estimates from the other companies. RCS said we didn't need to tear the whole thing off and start over, just clean it up and lay down a new layer, and it would be good to go. The estimate included powerwashing, removing some old debris and roof junk, properly capping an unused swamp vent, laying down a new layer of polymembrane fabric over the whole roof, and then a final top coat of white, with a 5 year warranty against leaks. All good things to say. Joe did the estimate, was kind, professional, and honest/candid/ no BS. Answered all my questions over the phone. The office staff answered all questions and communicated in a friendly and professional fashion. The work crews showed up on time, did what they said they would do, left everything clean, and were super nice to my 2 y.o son. Joe also sent a roofer out a couple days later after the big job day to touch up a couple small spots upon my request. Very satisfied with the whole process. I would definitely recommend their services and hire them again.

They cleaned the roof first, applied a layer of material and then applied the "painted" layer.

The work was performed quickly and thoroughly. The workman were friendly and knowledgeable and communicated with us as the various steps of the job were completed.

Joe the owner was on time and professional when he came to look at the project. I signed a contract that day. He answered all my questions. The first worker to show up came dressed in a T-shirt marijuana leaf on it and was on his cell phone talking about just getting out of talk. My tenant was not pleased with this as they have children. I also was not happy and mentioned this to the crew boss.

The owner, Joe Shepler, came out a few days earlier to do an estimate. He was very friendly and professional. John and Alan did all the work and they were A+.

Working with them was the best experience I've had with any service provider, ever! And that is saying a lot since we just remodeled. They were kind, responsive, reliable and went above and beyond with every step. The pricing was also quite fair and the work was excellent. I wish every company was this good. Joe and his team made my choice easy. Thorough discussion of what was needed on the initial consultation with Joe, didn't suggest more than was needed, fair price. Front office stayed in constant communication with me regarding their schedule and notified me each morning that there was a delay due to weather. Roof coating team cleaned up after themselves and did a great clean job. Included 5 year leak-free warranty extendable in 5 year increments up to 20 years as long as you call them out to apply new coating before the 5 year span has expired and as long as they are notified before any work is done on the roof by other contractors (solar, hvac, etc.). Definitely on my list of businesses to recommend when friends and family need a roofer.

They came on the date and time that they had promised. Went to work and finished the next day. Cleaned the area. While the price was high the quality of the work was worth it. No hassle they did what they said they would do. In Tucson that is memorable!

I was a little shocked at first by the cost. Mainly because the house is only 4 yrs old . But after seeing what they were going to do the price seemed justified. Work went well no problems.

We used Angie's List to get three quotes for our roof and Joe exceeded any expectation we had for our roofing needs. We own our home in Tucson, but have my mom living in it most of the year as we live out of the country. We were in town for a few days over Spring Break and contacted Roof Coating Specialists the day after we arrived. Joe showed up the next day on time and it was very clear that he knew what he was talking about. He even guess who put the original roof on the house many years ago! Joe's prices were very competitive, but we were mostly concerned about having this work done when we were out of town and have my elderly mother "in charge". Joe alleviated any fear we had with his knowledge and genuine love for the Tucson community. He knows Tucson. We paid half up front and scheduled the work for three weeks out as he was completely booked until that time. This was fine for us. As promised Joe and his crew showed up and powerwashed the roof as scheduled and then came a few days later to complete the work in a day. The crew was curteous and delivered everything as promised. I highly recommend this locally owned business. They keep their word and do a great job in a professional manner.

The roofing company power washed my roof, then while spraying on the foam elastics they also used membrane material to build up at least 6 despressions in my roof.

We had a roof leak and they came very quickly to give an estimate. When we signed the contract they did a temporary patch on our roof while we waited for the entire roofing job to be done. At all times they were professional, punctual and they communicated very well about what would be done and when. I'd definitely use them again, but with a 20 year roof guarantee I'll just be recommending them to friends and neighbors.

I contacted the office for a quote for maintenance recoating of my roof on Mar 25th. The individual answering the phone stated that they would call to set up an appointment. The phone contact set the appointment for Apr 8th. The estimator arrived within the scheduled window and was professional. The home (and flat roof) is 6.5 years old with no evidence of leaking or significant damage. We discussed the job and the fact that I have a solar pool water heating system with10 circular water heating tube rings on the roof that would have to be raised to allow coating of the surface underneath. The original heating system installation was done to allow the system to be raised on blocks/stands so that recoating of the roof. I asked how they would handle the panels. The response was that the panels would have to be removed before they did their work. The estimator provided the hand written quote at the time of the visit. The estimate proposed 2 Coats of rolled on coating and provided for a 5 year warranty. Based on the quoted services and the fact that I would have to pay someone else to remove and reinstall the solar heating tubes at an additional quoted price of ~$1000.00 (from the Solar Contractor), I decided to go with another provider. The experience with this contractor was overall average to good.

We had roof coatings on two houses, and every part of the experience was extremely professional and I couldn't be happier. We had to have our pool solar panels removed before the work and reinstalled after the work, and they worked around this schedule and also coordinated with us so the work on the seasonal rental could be done when there were no guests.They even came back out one last time after the solar panels were reinstalled to make sure the roof seal was not compromised.

They came ahead of the appointment. They changed the appointment and moved it up, so they were more than prompt in servicing the roof. Their crew was very helpful and checked with me on something that they did not know and they wanted my input.

I had a very good experience with this company. I knew that our roof probably required extensive repairs, because when we bought our 15-year old house last year we had a roofing contractor make various repairs to the roof as a stop-gap measure. Although we never had a leak, I knew that the roof was not in great shape, so recently I got a couple of estimates. The first company I called only spent 5 minutes looking at the roof and was clearly not interested in doing anything but a quick coat of paint. Then I called Roof Coating Specialist, and Joe Shepherd, the owner came and took a long time checking out the roof and took photos of problem areas. He told me I had a couple of options: I could simply have the roof recoated with spot repairs for about $1800 with a 3-year warranty, or I could get a 5 year warranty if his crew put a membrane on the roof which would make it like new and good to go for about 20 years if I kept up the roof coating every five years. The estimate for that was $3800. My husband and I decided to go with the full membrane. The work was done within a couple of days from the date of the estimate. It did help that we weren't in the rainy season, so the company wasn't too backlogged with work. The crew was very punctual and very professional. Joe Shepherd was very helpful and courteous, and I enjoyed doing business with him. I will certainly use this company for my roof coatings in the future, and I recommend them highly to anyone else.

Work was done and finished on time.

Called for an estimate on 07/10/12 and Joe Shepherd (owner) called the next day to advise he would be out at 2:00 that afternoon to provide an estimate. He told me about the type of roof we currently had and what the issues were regarding it. He explained what would be required to repair the roof. I advised him we had a couple of leaks in one of the bedrooms along the back wall of the house. He provided a written estimate and advise that if we decided on his company that it would be approximately 3 weeks before they could start depending on the the monsoons. He said he would have one of his crew come out and locate and temporarily repair the bedroom leaks. I explained that I was getting two more estimates and would let him know within a week. (Note: An estimator from Roof Savers Inc came out, took one look at the roof and advised the only company in town that could correctly repair the roof was Roof Coating Specialists and gave me their number.) I called Joe and advised he had the contract. He came out that afternoon and the contract was signed. The following day he sent one of his leads out to do a temporary fix for the bedroom leaks. On 08/08/12 I was advised a crew would be out on 08/10/12 to powerwash, scrape and prep the roof. They were on time. At the end of the day they cleaned up front and back removing all debris. They advised the primer would need to set for at least 24 hours and a crew would be back on Monday to lay the membrane and apply the reflective coating. On monday the crew was able to lay the membrane but with a monsoon looming they did not want to apply the elastomeric coating. Unfortunately, there were additional delays the rest of the week due to monsoons and the roof was completed on 08/22/12. During the delay I was kept informed by Angie from their office on the status. I would definitely used this company again and refer others to them.

They were affordable, on time and very clean.

They seemed to do a good job time; I'll be able to tell the next time it rains. The guy who came out to do the estimate was very knowledgeable about the type of roof we had and they were very punctual. One thing that impressed me about it was that we had to wait for them to schedule it; they were like 3 weeks out. During that time rain was predicted so they took it upon themselves to send somebody out to double check the roof to see if repairs were needed before the rain. I would definitely recommend them to somebody else.
