I had 2 trees that needed some professional attention. The first was a year old tree in the front yard that had been toppled in a recent storm. The second was a 9 year old Mesquite in my back yard that had never been trimmed and had gone completely wild. I found Quality Tree Services here and based on the great reviews, I called. Mary immediately put me at ease with her friendly manner and knowledge of trees. I explained my situation and she agreed to come out later that afternoon to see what was what. In the meantime she asked if I could send her some pictures of the trees. Minutes after I sent them she called me back with a good assessment of the situation. After talking with her in which she quoted a good price, I decided to book the job for the next day. I assumed that was it and since we were committed there would be no need for her to come out. I was pleasantly surprised later that afternoon when Mary still came to the house to speak with us personally. It gave me the feeling that she does care. She explained why the tree in the front yard (which had originally been improperly planted) wasn't worth saving. We discussed what type of tree would be best as a replacement and when would be the best time to plant. She gave us some great advice on how to properly water and care for the trees to get the best results. The guys showed up the next morning within the time frame we were told and got right down to business. They were friendly and hard working. The started in the back and had the bulk of the work there done in about 2 hours. They moved out to the front and not only got rid of the tree there but also the pile of limbs (from my own earlier disastrous attempt at tree trimming) that were at the curb waiting to be picked up by the city. The clean up was so good that they left my yards looking better than they have in years. All told they were done in about 4 hours. Mary and her team are friendly, professional and knowledgeable about what they do. In a time when customer service tends to be hurried and impersonal, I felt like we were important enough for them to take the time to actually talk to us.

Did not come at time initially set. When contacted were extremely apologetic. Original scheduler had had to go to a family emergency back east and there had been some confusion of times and as I was at work they had been unable to contact me. However they bent over backwards to rectify the situation and even offered to pull the crew off the job that they had been assigned to instead (which I refused as I know how much it can cost to in time and money to move equipment). We rescheduled and although I was not present I returned to find the job more than satisfactorily completed and the yard left tidier that when they started.

They were responsive prompt and professional.

While Mary was at the house, she gave me very welcome (unsolicited) advice about a few other problem areas in the yard e.g. my eucalyptus had beetles and she told me what to use to treat it myself. The quote that was provided was not just for the mesquite trimming; they separately quoted other trimming for other trees that they recommended so that I could decide what to do in the future when the timing and finances were right. I plan to use their services again!

Mary came and gave me a quote on a Sunday , when I was available, and was here to do the work with a crew of two only two days later. The price was not the cheapest, but was fair. The work was exceptional and was just the caring touch I wanted for my trees. The trees look natural and so beautiful. They took out all the dead limbs, reduced the size and reshaped them to look like they would have years ago. I am very pleased and will have them back to work on other trees. Excellent customer service. Her crew even carefully worked around the trees to spare my California poppies in bloom!

This was an excellent job. Because of appointments, I was unable to be here while the work was being completed. Upon my return I found the tree gone and the area cleaned to the point that you would never believe a tree was there. It is nice to find a company that completes the job to this standard without the client needing to be present. I will definitely use this company again should the need arise.

Quality Tree Service first trimmed my citrus trees just prior to the "big freeze" in Feb. 2011. The trees survived the freeze but had some dead wood as a result of the unusual weather event. Mary returned my call very quickly and set up an appointment for Tony to evaluate the trees. He arrived exactly when expected, inspected the trees and gave a preliminary estimate for the work - the actual quote arrived via email that afternoon. The work was scheduled for either the following Friday or Monday depending on weather and was later confirmed for Monday between 11:00 AM & noon. The crew arrived just before noon and completed the job very quickly. When they were finished, the trees looked beautiful and the patio was immaculate - not a leaf or twig left behind. I highly recommend Quality Tree Service both for their very professional customer service and the quality of their work.

This was overall a great experience! I contacted a few tree services, but QTS was the only one who followed up with me on this technically challenging project. Mary, the owner, mentioned right away the Angie's List discount and an additional discount they had going, which was very helpful. I contacted QTS initially on 1/26 and Mary came out to estimate the job on 1/28 right on time. She was very polite and friendly throughout. The company phoned me on 1/31 to schedule the work, but I did have to remind them I hadn't received the estimate yet! The estimate was sent over within 1 hour after we talked, and it was very detailed regarding costs and work involved. Mary also contacted her insurance company and they e mailed me proof of insurance the next day. Mary later contacted me with the idea of donating the palms to the Boy Scouts to use at their camp, which was a wonderful and unexpected idea. Mary kept good communication with me throughout, letting me know items needing to be done such: contacting the HOA, neighbors, pest service to inspect the trees in case of nests, bees, etc. On 2/8 the workers came and pruned our smaller trees and beheaded the palms, carrying all the waste (as agreed) over our wall and through our neighbor's gate entrance. We couldn't believe how good it all looked when we got home, the olive actually had a lovely tree shape that we'd never seen before! The harder work was on 2/9, when the cranes and dump trucks came. The crew arrived as promised at 9 am, and they were all very polite and tidy. The 2 palms were cut down and craned (if that's a word) over our home and into the waiting dump trucks. The 2 large palms were gone by 11:15 am, now just stumps as we didn't want to crane the stump grinder over the houses. Mary looked at our backyard after the work was done, and got her employees to remove a missed dead limb off our bottlebrush. Our neighbor was very helpful in the whole process, and QTS gave her a deal on a tree removal from her back patio as well. Mary also had her crew remove some dead tree limbs from the neighbor's citrus free of charge. Mary called later to talk about options for stump removal, for when we are ready to tackle that.

It was great. They did an excellent job, and it was like they had never been here once they finished.

Mary spent a lot of time with us on the phone. When Tony came out, he spent a lot of time walking around the property and gave us a lot of helpful advice and information that has been quite useful in caring for the other trees and plants on our property. Losing three trees was not a happy occasion - we especially loved the eucalyptus in our front yard. Mary and Tony were very considerate and professional in scheduling the removal. Let's talk about the removal for a minute: it was a 40' eucalyptus tree in our front yard, which has a low 3' wall in the front. The tree was surrounded by a number of other plants and smaller trees. The plan was as follows: 1. put a couple of guys in a basket hanging from a crane and cut all of the branches away - big, thick, break-your-chainsaw branches. 2. Once the branches were gone, hook the trunk up to the crane. 3. Lift the trunk out of our yard to the street. 4. Cut up the trunk for removal. Given our experience with most blow-and-go gardeners who call themselves "landscaping contractors" I didn't see how they were going to be able to do this without some sort of complication, but they were insured (Mary made sure that we were aware of this and her insurance information) so we went ahead with the removal. They were in and out in 6 hours. Would have been 4 hours, but it was raining, and no one wants to be 35' above the ground in a metal basket during a lightning storm. We would not have known they had been here, other than the fact that our tree was gone. Quality is not the cheapest tree removal service in town: we had several people knock on our door and offer to do it for a fraction of the price: no insurance, no contractor's license, and from the looks of it, no clean up. Quality was efficient and professional. While we weren't happy about the job we had contracted with them to do, the level of service was amazing, and they gave us advice during their consultation that has totally turned our yard around. I have been using them for tree service for several years. They are good. I have not gone ahead with the estimate they gave me a couple of weeks ago; I am still thinking about it. Their estimated price was $200. I would use them again in the future.

The workers were on time and very efficient. They cleaned up the debris too.

I needed a dead tree removed from my front yard. I spoke with Mary at Quality Tree Service and explained that I had received a notice from my HOA about the tree. By the end of the day I was emailed an estimate for the job. I accepted the estimate and contacted QTS. Mary told me that they were backed up because some of the crew were sick, but she would see what could be done. The following Tuesday the tree was removed very much to my satisfaction. The area was excellently cleaned up and I wish I had been home to thank them personally for a great job. I will definitely use Quality Tree Service again.

In June of this year, we purchased a 3 acre property on which all of the trees, shrubs, catcus, and plants had all been neglected for a number of years. There were several trees close to the house with branches hanging over the roof or lying on the parepets. There were also a number of dead trees or trees that needed deadwooding. I decided to call Quality to ask for an estimate based on the good reports the company has on Angie's list. Not long after leaving a voice mail requesting an estimate, Mary Slachter, one of the owners and chief estimator, called me on a Saturday afternoon. She said she was near our area doing some other work, and could be at our house in about a hour to look at what work we needed done, if we were available. Mary arrived when she said she would, and we began walking around the property to determine what work needed to be done. As we walked, Mary made a diagram with the location and name of the species of each tree and shrub that needed working on and what work needed to be done on each of them. Mary is extremely knowledgeable about Sonoran desert trees, plants, and catcus, and is very easy to talk and work with. A couple of days later, Mary e-mailed me a very detailed diagram with the location of each tree, shrub, or plant that needed to be worked on, along with a break-down of the price for doing the work on each individual tree or plant. Because the large number of trees and plants that needed to be trimmed, deadwooded, or removed, Mary suggested breaking the work up, and doing it in parts over several months, which is what we decided to do. Even though Quality was very busy working to clean up damage from the Monsoon wind and thunder storms at the time, they were able to schedule the work to be done in about 3 weeks. Carlos, and a crew of 3 or 4 men, arrived promptly on morning of the day the work was scheduled (Mary was ill that day, and called to apologize for not being able to personally be on-site to make sure Carlos and the crew knew exactly what work was to be performed). Carlos and I,using Mary's very detailed diagram as a guide, walked around the property to make sure that he and the crew knew exactly what work they were to do that day. The crew did the work just as specified, and we are very satisfied with all the work they did. All the trees look good, and the workers did a good job of cleaning up the debris. Hopefully, we will be able to schedule the remainder of the work sometime soon.

I was very pleased with Quality Tree Service especially with Mary, the owner. She was very cautious with my new driveway. The men were very careful with my trees and driveway. My yard looks a 100 times better. Tony has given me lots of wonderful ideas gardens and the type of trees I might plant. My yard was so awful before I did not think anything would grow. Now it really looks nice. Quality Tree Service did a wonderful job and I got discount because I am an Angie's List customer. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing tree service. Excellent service by Quality Tree Service! We were on travel in Europe when our housesitter emailed to say that a large limb had fallen off a mesquite in our front yard in a wind storm, and that part of the limb was blocking our neighbor's driveway. Quality Tree Service took care of the problem quickly even though they were backed up with work because of the storm. The crew dealt with the branch and stacked up the wood for firewood in the neatest arrangement I'd ever seen. We especially appreciated their ability to handle the issue by email with us as we weren't on site for another couple of weeks.

He was very informative. I was very happy with him. I think it is a family owned business. It was very easy to work with him. He was knowledgeable. I would definitely use him again in the future too.

I called Quality Tree Service to have them clear an easement to a utility pole on a property we just purchased. The area was very overgrown and thick with dead brush and dead trees. A couple of the dead trees were 10" around. The owner, Mary Slachter and her crew arrived on time and walked through the job with my husband and I. She relayed the information to her crew and they completed the job in a day. I highly recommend QTS to anyone who needs trimming, has questions about tree care, or needs clearing and hauling away of brush. They do an excellent job. We are repeating customers and I've always been happy with their work.

They were on time, got right to work, were very organized as a team. One held me well & others moving branches to chipper & continually cleaning up debris.

The entire project was done "long distance". I was not in the US at that time, the property was rented out with tenants in residence and a property manager was responsible for any contact with them. Mary and Kelly had to therefore coordinate the job with three different parties, one of which was overseas. They did an amazing job and the project was implemented as discussed and on time. I am extremely impressed with their professionalism, responsiveness and work product. I am planning to use them again for additional work and recommend them highly to anyone who wants excellent customer service and quality work.

We are very happy with the services performed by Quality Tree Service. The owners, Mary and Kelly Slachter were professional and very conscientious. The estimator Earl did a good estimate, I felt he was spot on with the work that needed to be done. The estimate we were provided as really detailed and everything on the estimate was performed as according to our paperwork. The crew chief, Carlos, met me at the house and walked the job with me, listening to what I wanted and providing me with his opinions. Carlos was professional and courteous. He really listened to what I had to say with regard to the job. I left to go to work. When I returned home, the yard was immaculate and all the waste was removed. The trees looked absolutely perfect and my husband and I are very pleased. Mary and Kelly were in contact by phone and email to assure the job was scheduled properly, that the crew was on time and that I was happy with the results. I highly recommend this company to anyone who would like to have work done on their trees. They did a terrifice job. I will definitely hire them again, should the need arise. Thank you QTS!

Quality Tree is a family operation, and they take great pride in their work. I had originally called them just for trimming the palm trees I had in my front yard; however, when their arborist Tony showed up for the original estimate, he pointed out several problem areas that they could also address. This was no "hard sell" -- these were genuinely problematic. For example, I had a "volunteer" palm tree growing in my back alley, right next to the block wall. I wasn't paying it much attention, but Tony showed me that the roots had already caused the wall to start cracking and buckling. Ditto with a poorly-placed mesquite tree inside my yard: its roots were already lifting the brick paving and its limb span was inappropriate for the space it was in. So I added those tasks to the job. At first, I thought the prices might be a little high; however, after getting estimates from several other tree services, I found Quality Trees prices to be very reasonable. Not only that, but they offer an Angie's List discount which makes them even more competitive. Given that the work they do lives up to their name, I think they offer good value. (I'd also like to note that the final invoice -- even before the discount -- had individual prices that were actually *lower* than the estimate. It's always nice -- albeit rare -- to get that kind of surprise.) The crew showed up right on time to complete the work, about a week after Tony had been out. It was a pretty hot July day, already well over the 100-degree mark. But they worked steadily, with only one short break, and got all the work done in just a few hours. They even fertilized the grapefruit tree, which seemed to respond very well to the treatment as it had literally hundreds of fruit on it the following spring! All the trash was fed into a wood chipper or raked and swept up. The yard areas were cleaner when they left than they had been at any time since I had moved in, nearly a year before. Since then, Mary and Tony have dropped by when they're in my neighborhood, to offer suggestions and tips for tree care. I do plan to have them work on my trees again, and have recommended them to Tucson friends needing tree trimming or removal. About the only caution I can offer A List readers is this: call well in advance of when you think you'll need them; they tend to get booked up fast, especially during monsoon season.
