Description of Work: I've used MVP in the past for air conditioner/heater service and repair and was impressed with Danny's knowledge and professionalism. He gave a reasonable price on replacement of our larger unit and threw in 2 programmable thermostats. Work was done on time and we've had no problems since. An added plus was that they use Trane equipment.

Description of Work: Biennial tune up of the system they installed in August of 2012. Tune up went just fine. There was a minor (but annoying) lingering problem from the initial installation that was never completely resolved. Last time they came out to deal with it, the manager sort of blew it off. Otherwise, installation went exactly as we were told.

Description of Work: The call to this company was for a general check on the system and a drain problem that we thought might be possible. The tech arrived at the beginning of the appt window. He checked units (2) operation, compressor amps, fan amps, freon pressure , filters and one other item that I can't read. Everything was ok except for freon pressure in one unit. He claimed that he didn't have the equipment in his truck to solve the pressure problem and scheduled another appointment on Friday, the 29th from 9 - 12. He never showed up for that appointment. The cost of the first appointment was 129.78, but we had a coupon which reduced the total cost to $49.99. He was unhappy with the coupon. It was difficult to answer the evaluation above because of two totally different appts. Ken McCollester

$49.99
Response from MVP Air Conditioning
I took the original phone call. According to my notes, the call was a service call to address a possibly clogged condensate line. I acknowledged that the charge for a service call would be $49.99 and if it was something simple like blowing out a clog in a condensate line there would be no further charge. I had no knowledge of there being two systems or the customer’s wanting of full preventative maintenance (PMA) on both systems. Had I known I would have informed the customer that our charge was $64.99 per system for the PMA. The ‘$49.99 Service Call’ is for the trip and diagnostic to address the specific issue such as the blower not functioning, compressor not running, system blowing warm air, or in this case the condensate not draining. In a nutshell it covers overhead and labor to diagnose what is causing the specific problem the customer called for. Our technician will then give a quote for the repair if necessary and the customer can choose to get the repair done or not. Again, this falls under what the customer originally called for. We charge $64.99 for the PMA because we are going through the overall cooling system (generally more time). 95% of the time on these calls the system is operating fine, there is no follow up repair. We will make recommendations if there are any issues we feel may need to be addressed. The original call came on June 6th and an appointment on the 27th in the 7-9 am window was agreed to. I put it on the calendar as a service call with the issue being the condensate line possibly needing to be blown out. The technician arrived on time and he was met by the original caller’s wife. The original caller was not there. The technician said he was there to take care of the condensate line issue. She said no. She showed him that there were two systems and said her husband wanted him to go through both systems to see if they had any issues (a PMA). He did as she instructed by the customer. He wrote the ticket for $129.98 accordingly (which is the correct charge) and made recommendations based on his findings. One of the units had low refrigerant pressures so he recommended a leak check because he didn’t want to put freon in it just to have it leak out again if there was in fact a leak. This is common procedure. This technician does not have a leak checker on his truck. Our company has one leak checker and it is on another truck. Again, he thought he was going out there to blow out the condensate line so didn’t think to take the leak checker. The technician told the customer he would be back ‘Next Friday, between 9 and 12’ and wrote on the ticket Friday 9-12 (he meant Friday, July 6th). We were booked up for the next week and the 4th of July holiday is coming up which is why he suggested the next Friday. Although the system’s pressure is low it is working so he felt it was not an emergency. He felt he explained this to the customer. The mistake he made was he did not put the specific date on the ticket and the customer was under the impression we would be out on Friday, June 29th. I apologize for our lack of communication on this. The customer presented the Angie’s List ‘$49.99 Service Call’ coupon and insisted the $49.99 should cover the PMA on both systems. Our technician knew that was wrong, but he called the office and we went ahead and honored the customer’s request. The technician was in a tough spot because, like I said, I was not informed when the customer first called so the customer was not informed of the difference between service call and PMA or that our $49.99/$64.99 charge does not cover multiple systems. The Angie’s List coupon only has so many characters so we can’t put every detail on there, so we put ‘Restrictions Apply’ which is commonplace in advertising. Then if the customer tells me they want a PMA and they have multiple systems, I will explain the cost. We called the customer this morning (July 2nd) to offer an explanation, apologize, and inform them that we were refunding the $49.99 (or, in this case, we are not going to put the check in the bank and destroy it). The customer did not allow us that opportunity and hung up on us. From our previous reviews you can see this situation is not our MO. We have done and will do everything in our power to make things right. Things do not always go perfectly and misunderstandings will happen but we will always work with the customer to make them happy if given the opportunity. In this case we were not given that opportunity.

Will definitely use MVP again.
Description of Work: My husband and I recently purchased a home and just wanted to get the main systems checked out. The tech was on time, a "local" guy (lives close to my property) and very personable. I was happily surprised by the bill compared to the amount of time he spent thoroughly evaluating the A/C and heating systems.

Excellent.
Description of Work: Replaced a rooftop heat/AC unit with new high efficiency unit (RUUD). They provided a simple, No-BS estimate, and because the time period for rebates, tax credits and other incentives was running out, scheduled the installation for 2 days later. All work was excellent, very professionally handled. They sell virtually every manufacturer's equipment, so do not push one brand over another. I'm happy with the new unit (though have not seen utility bills yet). One of the best things about their work is that they are absolutely straightshooters in providing information about the units that would be appropriate for your circumstances - what you want, what you need, without trying to add on a bunch of additional, unnecessary extras. Installation comes with your choice of a free duct cleaning or house cleaning. I chose duct cleaning, which will be performed by Aladdin (has not been done yet).
