It went great. Jason is a very friendly and professional contractor. He kept me informed what they were doing and when. I asked for a few things to be done that were not included in the original agreement and he had them done in no time. I'm am extremely happy with how this project went. Everything looks great and I love my new shower!
Description of Work: Kitchen and bathroom work. New countertops/sink, lighting, and cabinet install. Also a new master shower enclosure.

I have several home projects to do & have been looking for someone that would do a good job at a reasonable price. I started with the simplest of my projects, which was drywall repair, floating & retexturing, as well as some electrical work installing chandeliers in our kitchen & hallway. (Part of the drywall work involved removing a toilet & vanity with sink to adequately repair the walls, and then reinstalling those items). I was incredibly happy with my experience with Amenity construction. It is a family run business & it was very apparent to me that they have integrity, a strong work ethic & care about doing a good job! I met with Jason who gave me a reasonable estimate for the work. He & his crew were always pleasant, on time and made sure to clean up after their work. If there was anything I was not happy with, they took care of it (for instance a small area of texture cracked along a seam several days after they were finished & Jason returned immediately to fix it). They also go beyond what is asked of them, for instance, while they were working, they noticed some sloppy painting that had been done in the past, where paint had gotten on our wood ceiling and since they were up in that area, without being asked, they removed the paint from the wood planks. They also tightened down some bolts they noticed were loose in our living room beams, again without being asked. My experience with Amenity Construction told me that they are good at what they do & they take pride in the their work. I am planning to do a master bath remodel & kitchen remodel, and I will definitely be using them for those projects.
Description of Work: We had horrible, thick, lumpy texture on most walls in our house, as well as drywall that needed repair from a roof leak. Amenity Construction repaired damaged drywall in our large entry hallway and floated & retextured the walls/ceiling of that hallway & several of our rooms. They also did some lighting work for us, moving and anchoring a large chandelier in our kitchen as well as hanging & wiring 3 new hallway chandeliers.

Jason responded promptly to my request for a site visit and an estimate. He pointed out areas where existing joists and header boards were serviceable and which should be replaced. His estimate was the lower of the two I received, and I had confidence in his understanding of the job and my expectations. After making the deposit the work was scheduled within 2 weeks even though this was the period around Christmas. The work was begun a couple of days earlier than planned, with my approval, and completed in just over two days with three people on the job. After the existing deck had been removed, Jason showed me some of the ledger board was rotted in places that couldn't be seen with the deck in place. It was my call whether to replace a section of this and I asked him to do this. The extra cost was only $200. I am very pleased with the outcome. I have done some work like this myself in the past, and know what can be achieved by craftsmen who care. These guys do care. All of the deck boards are level, straight and evenly spaced. The cutoff ends are square and in line. I can't imagine how the job could be any better.
Description of Work: Replace wood decking with Trex synthetic wood, double up on joists as needed to support extra weight, and install new wrought iron railing. Deck size is approx 12 x 22 feet.

I used Jason several years ago on a different property and hired him again to add a back patio to my home and to remodel the kitchen. Jason and his staff are everything that you want in a contractor. -He was punctual and showed up when he said he was going to show up. He acted as if my time was just as important as his time which is so refreshing. -He provided a written estimate and stuck to it. When some of the demo ended up costing more than he anticipated he offered to eat the cost. -He smoothly dealt with my numerous changes -He communicated with me via email and phone in a timely manner -His staff was friendly and professional and answered all my questions. They also made some helpful suggestions. -They cleaned up the property nicely at the end of the work day and at the completion of the job. -The work was well done! Anyone who comes over compliments me on the patio. I'm a big fan.
Description of Work: Amenity built a large back patio at my house (40x15) and then handled a remodel of my kitchen (new lighting, appliances, etc).

We could not have been more pleased with Jason's work. The job was complicated because the house was in Tucson, we are in New York and our son is in Virginia. Many of the decisions were made via email for which Jason graciously provided pictures and time for us to consider decisions. We could not believe the quality of work that was done when we eventually got to Tucson. Absolutely beautiful! Jason is the consummate professional. He is a very talented carpenter, is conscientious, and has an incredible work ethic. Unfortunately, the crew of another service provider destroyed the tile in one of the bathrooms. Jason took it upon himself to fix the problem at no cost to us, clearly a man who wants his job to reflect exceptional quality. We have other work that has to be done on the Tucson house for which we have already contacted Jason. He will be our "go to" man in Tucson!
Description of Work: Complete remodel of the master bathroom including removing walls and moving fixtures. Jason installed new tile in the shower and the bathroom floor. He also renovated the main bathroom and completed a number of smaller items, e.g. Hanging lighted ceiling fan. He had complete access to the house in our absence. He proved to be very trustworthy and dependable.

Jason visited the house on two occassions; the second time to refine the bid based on minor changes in the job description. Jason was very patient, responsive, and showed imagination in how the work could be completed. In short, he made a complex job seem simple. Ultimately, Jason's bid was just slightly above our chosen contractor. However, we decided on somebody else because Jason was booked out for another 2-4 weeks and we're trying to move into our house as soon as possible. That's the price one pays for reasonable pricing and quality work ........ you get booked out! We'll definitely have Jason bid on future jobs, and suggest others do as well.

Jason and his crew were very professional, punctual, hard working, and neat. They constructed new joists on which the deck sits, installed around 60 redwood boards, each. 20 feet long, and secured them with screws to the joists. We then sealed the new deck ourselves.
Description of Work: Installed new redwood deck, approx. 560 square feet, and built redwood bench and partition to hide mechanical equipment They also hauled away old redwood which I had removed from the deck area.

Jason understood exactly what I needed and made it happen. He and one helper arrived on time with everything they needed. The job went smoothly and the finished product looks like it was original, as opposed to a retri-fit. The roof matches the existing roof very well and to date, (6 months, so far), there has been no leaking. The dryer works MUCH better, now, and the unsightly t-top is history. If I had to find something to downgrade, I think the price was a little high. I would use Amenity again and recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed 4" round duct to run from floor through roof for driver vent, mounted on block wall and install low profile roof vent with flap to replace t-top vent.

This was a very easy remodeling project for me because the condo was not occupied during the remodeling. From my point of view, it all went very well. Everything was done in a timely manner with complete professionalism. Jason Miller kept me informed of progress as the job developed. He was knowledgable and pleasant to work with. He answered phone messages and e mails promptly. Communicating with him was never a problem.
Description of Work: This job involved removing a ceiling mounted kitchen cabinet, installing a free standing ventilation hood, pendant lights, new sink, new refrigerator, slide-in range and dishwasher, new granite counter top, replacing shelves in laundry room and removing a ceiling light fixture and replacing it with a new one. The payment in the box above does not include the cost of new appliances, sink, hood, and light fixtures, but does include the granite and shelving.

A screeened in patio in Arizona?? Not something one thinks of certainly not us as we had lived here since '01 without even remotely considering one. It was on morning walks where we passed a house which was screened in the entire length of the house that inspired us to screen in our patio. After giving much thought to a design I found Amenity Construction on Angie's list, highly recommended with many positive reviews. I contacted Jason the owner and arranged a meeting. Jason arrived promptly and we spent a pleasant hour discussing what exactly we wanted. He was a careful listener, took our ideas, made recommendations, and said he could make our deadline of an early June completion. I was impressed by his professionalism from the outset and within a week was E Mailed an estimate along with some sketched plans. I was immediately surprised by his drawings as he had pretty much translated our ideas and design into the plans. His price was very reasonable, well within our budget and we decided to go with Amenity. Construction began mid-May and took about three, three and a half weeks total, a good part of the time, two weeks was wating for the custom screens to be made to fit the openings. Day one Jason and his brother arrived on time and their carpentry work from the outset was true craftsmanship. As he promised he was able to work around the existing stucco columns and architectural details with fine and in areas quite intricate framing. We had decided on wood screen doors. When they arrived from Home Depot it was apparent they were of sub par quality. Jason had no problem in returning them and advised us on a suitable aluminum upgrade; form follows function! I did all the painting, staining and finishing on the patio [ a money saver] and was able to keep pace with their construction thanks to waiting on the screens to be done. The final step in the project was removing a pool fence which was in need of replacement. The fence crew, sub contracted by Jason ran into difficulty digging into the caliche even with a portable jack hammer. Jason came by midday to see the problem and ended up staying and overseeing the work until it was finished with all the fencing in. All of the work on the patio was completed a day before the promised deadline. Jason met the budget and the only over run was a couple of additional screens we had made for broken existing ones elsewhere on the house. I could not recommend Amenity Construction any higher, from start to finish the professionalism and craftsmanship of Jason and his brother was higher than I've ever experienced in any re-modeling or new project/addition on the three houses I've owned over the years. We've had the patio for two months now and use it daily, it is as beautiful as any room in our house and one we'll use year round. Thanks Jason!
Description of Work: We had our existing back patio screened in. This involved framing, short 18" high tongue and groove wall construction and installation of screens and doors. All of this was done around existing architectural features common to most newer Stucco construction homes around Tucson; columns and upper wall to ceiling of roof overhang. An existing pool fence was removed and a new one to replace it installed.

I had started a large remodeling project knowing I could not handle the drywall, taping, and texturing. I contacted Jason at Amenity Construction, and we met to discuss the project. By the next day I received his estimate and a start date was set. A friend, that is an architect, oversaw Jason and his crew in my absence and had nothing but good things to say about the professionalism of Jason and his crew and the work they performed. He may be a young man, but he knows his craft and does it very well. When I returned several days later the job was perfect. His clean-up was done so well you would not know they were even there. I will definitely recommend Amenity Construction to my friends.

The work began with discussions and quotes. He was open to my thoughts and brought in his own ideas and thinking as well. It was a collaborative effort. The actual physical work occurred over 3 months. The work was of fantastic quality and cleanup during each phase was fantastic. There were never piles of stuff, dust, debris, etc. He is fantastic. He also communicates well and sent me photos of progress when I was not around. The finished work is terrific and he is a great guy to work with.
Description of Work: Jason Miller, the owner of Amenity Construction, was the general contractor for a group of projects I had done. He did some of the work himself and he sub'd out other. I had an open pole barn completely enclosed using steel framing and external steel corrugated siding, stained to have a rusted look. He also managed the pouring of the concrete slab in the barn, ran the electrical, install lights, etc. Further he created an opening and installed a new door between a bedroom and a bathroom and wired and installed three ceiling fans. The new door required him to match style and stains used in the house.

Our work was a hodge-podge of sorts; roofing and several exterior repairs/replacement from weathering. We got estimates from roofers, but we also called a couple of general construction/remodeling firms because we had hoped to get everything done at once with minimal coordination on our end. Amenity made that happen! They came out and did a walk around, then worked with the roofers to get a full estimate to me. We booked for a couple of weeks later, all good communications to set things up and have material delivered, then they showed up promptly and had everything done in 2 days. I only dealt with Jason @ Amenity really, though they subcontracted the roofing (they did offer to put me in direct contact with the roofers but I wanted to go the general contractor route). The work was very good, they hit budget, and they did a very nice job cleaning up (no nails on the ground after roofing work makes me very happy). We plan to use them again for some work in the fall.
Description of Work: Our roof was damaged in a storm. In addition to fixing the impacted area, we decided to go ahead and get the entire roof re-coated, new drip edge and all new fascia along with some repairs/replacement to wood posts around the exterior of the house. They also painted everything new and sealed/re-painted some of the older wood support beams.

Used this contractor solely through reference by Angie's List - no prior contact or referral from neighbors or friends. the Owner, Jason responded promptly to a request for estimate, and when the bid was accepted started work within 2 weeks. Major demo of master Bath to the stud walls, replaced drywall, plumbing work, prep and laying of ceramic floor and and porcelain shower tile work, cement work for shower pan and install of faucets, shower and plumbing fixtures were all completed timely and expertly. I would definitely use this company's services again and highly recommend to others.

Jason is very professional, knowledgable, polite and easy to work with. He offered some very good suggestions for our lighting as we were unsure of what we wanted. I had lots of questions for him and he was patient with me and very accommodating. Jason did some unexpected repairs for me without raising the price, a patio outlet didn't work-he replaced the line, water lines in the kitchen needed to be re-directed and secured in the wall, a living room intake vent was no longer needed so he removed it and patched and textured it to match wall, he removed upper kitchen cabinets for us (part of our demo), installed a new 110 outlet for our gas range. Jason and his crew did an excellent job and we would absolutely hire them again.
Description of Work: Removed two walls that separated kitchen from living and dining rooms, scraped all popcorn from six ceilings, floated and textured ceilings, removed dropped ceilings in dining room and kitchen, redirected electrical, hung new ceilings in dining room and kitchen, floated and re-textured entire entry/living/family room walls, pulled in two new 15 amp circuits for lighting, installed 15 recessed lights (3 in kitchen, 6 in dining room, 6 in living room), installed two fan/light fixtures, installed new dimmer switches for all, installed two outlets for kitchen island (channeled in concrete), and installed two boxes for pendant lights over island.

I am pleased with the finished work. Previous to this job he built a porch addition in the back of my house which was a large project and included a number of subcontractors from roofing to framing to foundation. They actually built an addition on the back of the house. He did such an excellent job that the city inspector, every time he came out, was just in awe; he kept commenting about not worrying about everything being done right; this guy is a perfectionist. Every day his crew would sweep up the area and orderly put materials in place for the next day; then they would hose down the porch. He built the addition from start to finish in one month and had my best interest at heart. I found him on Angie's List and will use him again in the future.

Jason Miller, the owner, is a person of high integrity, honest, performs high quality work, is efficient and a good communicator. Always on time and came on short notice to the worksite when another subcontractor had a major issue. We did not have any "surprises" even though the work by him was extensive. We trusted his skill, knowledge and advice. Very decent man. We bought a townhome with a 6.5 foot ceiling in the kitchen. Through his suggestions and hard work, he transformed the kitchen into almost 8 foot ceilings, with new cabinets, plumbing, appliances, down lighting and countertops. Key to the kitchen modification was Jason finding a way to redirect the ventilation system, which turned out great. Another key to making the kitchen space larger was his enlarging the pass-thru window to the dining room, which gave a compeletely different feel to our place. Working with other subs, he helped in repairing several opened ceilings and walls, I've called Jason back this week (Jan 2012 to help with another project and have still another planned with him for later this spring.
Description of Work: The entire kitchen was gutted, except for the flooring. Ceiling were made taller, pass-through opening enlarged, removed all the cabinets, counters, most walls and pulled out appliances. Also had to redirect ventilation system (heat and AC) for kitchen, hallway, family room and dining room. 2 bathrooms, removed the plumbing, cabinets and counters. Asked to do extensive sheetrock repair throughout townhouse, to include texturing.

The job went very well. I had used Jason Miller and Amenity Construction before and had been satisfied with their work. The first day was rainy, but the doors were mostly under cover so they were able to get them installed. The work in the master bath went very well and the end result looks very nice and it is very functional. We liked the new toilet so much we picked up another one and they installed that, too. We were consulted on options for layout of the tile and placement of the vanity in relation to the lamp and the medicine cabinet. We live in an old house and things aren't alway square or aligned! We were very satisfied with the work and will consider Amenity for future jobs.
Description of Work: Amenity installed 3 exterior doors and sweeps on existing frames. They installed a vanity, medicine cabinet, light bar and 2 toilets. I provided the products installed, but Amenity picked them up from the source. They also installed ceramic tile in the bathroom. They cleaned up thoroughly and removed all the old hardware.
