Description of Work: Converted existing 2 vehicle carport into a 2 car garage. The contractor obtained all permits, corrected existing concrete slab footings to meet building codes, framed in walls, installed windows, a man door, electrical panel and outlets on walls and overhead for lights and garage door opener. Also installed a 2 car garage door on the front and a 1 car garage door on the rear. Also installed stucco on the exterior garage walls to match the rest of the house. | |We are very happy with the work performed and would recommend him to anyone needing a contractor for a home improvement project.

Description of Work: We had an older house that had slump block exterior walls with no insulation. Amenity's workers built a framework of metal studs on the inside of the walls to hold new insulation and drywall. They textured and painted the new wall surface. They had some good suggestions and they also respected our input. We were very happy with the final result.

Description of Work: Actually we are still deciding on the project but the best part about Aminity Construction was that they caught a conflict with the building code before we went to the cost of materials and labor. It was very honest of Jason Miller and we are grateful that he caught it. Definitely will use Jason for any future projects if we decide to go in another direction for this particular project.

Description of Work: We added 4 feet to 3 bedrooms. We were impressed by the reviews we read on Angie's List and we were not disappointed. Adding the four feet required moving our pool equipment (hooking it up to run during the construction)and moving the air condition. Then reinstalling them again. The exact tile could not be found for the roof. At no extra cost Jason took tiles from an area not readily visable to tile the new area and put the new tile in that area. We canot say enough about the quality of the work, the attention to detail or the courtesy of all who did the work. Problems were non- existent. We would hire Amenity Construction again and highly recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: These guys did a great job. Had my patio completely enclosed, 23x10 area. They put glass across the front 23 feet and windows in the ends. They also completely insulated and finished the inside and outside. Added 220 volts for a ductless mini system heat pump and outdoor flood light with 3 outlets and a switch inside. The cost, not including the actual heat pump/air conditioner was $9,600. I am very happy with the results. They paid great attention to detail and gave me more than I expected. Good people. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but didn't know how to construct it. Jason grabbed the idea and was able to make it work at a very reasonable price. Thanks guys. Check one off of my bucket list. Now I can actually enjoy our patio in any kind of weather and don't have to clean dirt and debris every other day to use it.

Very well. Jason is very easy to work with. It was much easier to work with one contractor for the assorted jobs we needed done since we were coordinating the work remotely. Jason is very professional, punctual, neat, and does quality work.

Installed wood floor and new trim in 5 rooms of house, installed tile in bathroom area, drywalled and added french doors to close off study, installed front screen door, added switch and ceiling fan in study. Contacted Jason Miller through Angie's list email link. Things went fine through an initial visit. Jason gave us a referral to a kitchen cabinet dealer and said we should arrange to meet with the kitchen folks at our home and he (Jason) would join us. I asked if he wouldn't rather schedule the meeting to fit his needs and he stated that he would "make time" to be at this meeting. After visiting the cabinet dealer's showroom, we scheduled a meeting at our house to start the planning process. As we had previously agreed, Jason was notified by telephone of the date and time - he said he would be there "if he could make it." This was far different than he had originally stated. We considered it significant, since the general contractor's participation was important in our kitchen and bathroom remodel, with an added powder room, plumbing replacement and some other significant work. Jason didn't attend the meeting. In fact, Jason hasn't contacted us since the initial session. He didn't respond to the kitchen dealer's message after our planning session. Jason should have been up front about it if he wasn't interested in the job - it cost us time in the process as we assumed that he would follow through on the bidding process. Instead, he just lead us on and left us hanging.

Response from Amenity Construction
I agree with your post and apologize. I try to make everyone happy and was unable to in your case. There are no excuses and I really hope your project goes well. Thank you for the opportunity and again I am very sorry. Jason Miller Amenity Construction
It went amazingly well. And quickly. Only about four months to get from pouring the slab for the new porch, to Jason completing his part of the interior remodel. The porch was done first so it could serve as access and staging area for the interior phase. Jason's subs were all top-notch, and he supervised them closely. He coordinated and worked well with the other contractors I hired. He was very responsive to my concerns and patient to explain things to me. There are always surprises when tearing into an older home for remodel, but at least there were no nasty surprises from him or his people in terms of their work. When it is time to do the kitchen Jason will get the first call.
Description of Work: Jason and his subs added on a new concrete porch with truss roof, ceiling and security bars. He employed a draftsman to draw up plans and he obtained a building permit. He replaced a master bedroom window with an entry door for access to the new porch. This was Phase One. Jason provided all the materials for Phase One except the door, which I provided. Phase Two was a gut-to-the-studs remodel of the master bedroom/bath. Interior walls were added or relocated, the shower was enlarged, a walk-in tub was installed. The slab was opened for new drains and vents. Two new windows were added on exterior walls. The bedroom and bath floor was re-tiled, and the shower was tiled. A decorative glass tile back splash was installed above the vanity and tub. New drywall was installed, and the existing drywall was re-textured. New circuits were run for lighting, the whirlpool tub, and a kick-space heater. Jason hired subs to do all the plumbing, electrical and tile installation. For Phase Two, the interior phase, I provided the design, as well as all the items/materials except lumber, drywall and incidentals such as plumbing fittings and electrical wire. I did all the painting, most of the demo, and other contractors provided and installed the cabinets and glass shower enclosure. With everything included the final cost to me was about double what I paid to Jason.

The job took two days of actual work, and went smoothly without any problems other than the intermittent rain, which delayed the opening of the wall/removing the window by a day. The work done was first rate, and as good as it gets. Jason was polite and a true professional. The highest rating/praise I can give someone is trust. And having had Jason Miller (Amenity Construction) in my home for several months on two jobs now, seeing the level and quality of work that he has done for us. I can say that I would definitely trust him on future jobs.
Description of Work: When we originally bought our house, it had a den/dining room that opened to the kitchen. When our second child came along, we needed the space for a bedroom (this was originally an option for the house). We closed up the wall/opening to the kitchen and it was now our third bedroom. After Jason Miller (Amenity Construction) finished our garage conversion, we wanted to have the den/dining room back. Knowing the quality of work that Amenity Construction had done for us, we hired Jason again. He opened up the wall adjoining the kitchen in the shape of an arch. In addition, there was an existing 4X4 window in the room that faced our pool yard. We had Jason remove it, and enlarge the opening to put in dual French patio doors that opened to the pool. He also installed an outdoor porch light with an interior switch next to the door, and an electrical outlet on the outside of the wall, next to the new door for use in the yard.
The project from start to finish was exceptionally professional. From the architect drawing the plans, to obtaining permits, to the final inspection- and all the many steps in between. Everything went very smoothly. The work done was first rate, and as good as it gets. Jason was polite and professional, as was the rest of his crew. He communicated every step, keeping us informed of the status and progress at all times. And amazingly, not once did the job require paying more or going over the cost on the original proposal. With the exception of things we added along the way, the price that was started with, was the price we paid. There were a few things that needed to be done to complete the project that were not on the original proposal. But Jason did not charge us extra for these things. There were a few items that could have been done the quick and easy way, but Jason chose to do these in a way that looks and performs the best, even though I am sure it cost more. On a side note, during the course of the project I asked Jason if he could take a look at our master bathroom door. It is a pocket door and we have always had trouble with it falling off the track. We wanted to have it fixed, or completely replace it with a regular swinging door. I knew that putting a swinging door would take some additional time and work compared to fixing the existing track. He said he would be happy to fix it. In less than a few hours of starting this extra job, he had removed the pocket door, and installed a new door and frame along with trim. We were surprised at the speed and quality of the work he did. We had put up with that aggravating door for years, and in a couple hours, he had replaced it. I would not hesitate to recommend Jason Miller and Amenity Construction. And I would certainly use him again. In fact we were so satisfied with his work, two days after the garage addition was completed, we hired him again, to convert an existing bedroom into a dining room w/French patio doors opening to the pool yard. That review will follow this one.
Description of Work: Our house is an early 90 s, stucco tile roof home that looks like many other newer homes here in Tucson. We wanted to convert our existing attached two car garage into two bedrooms and a laundry room. After receiving quotes from several contractors and construction companies, we decided on Jason Miller (Amenity Construction). His proposal was not the least, or the most expensive. But it was noticeable after receiving the proposal and meeting with him, that the detail and planning as well as the work included was complete from beginning to end. Jason s proposal had everything we asked for, either as little, or as much as we wanted him to do, in order to complete the project. This was going to be a big project that entailed pouring a new concrete foundation, construction of a new exterior wall to replace the garage door, multiple interior walls, new hallways, integrating with the existing hallway. Insulation, including the existing attic over the garage. Complete electrical design and install including replacing and upgrading the existing electrical panel. Ductwork, venting, as well as completely replacing the existing A/C -furnace with a new 5 ton unit. Construction of a new closet to enclose the new furnace. Construction of a linen closet next to the new laundry room. Hanging multiple interior doors/closet doors. Sheetrock, texture, trim, exterior stucco, and on and on.

He showed up early and cleaned up nicely after the job each day. He was "not happy" with the way the mud on the wall turned out in that it wasn't blending closely enough with the existing wall, so he did it again. All of the work turned out perfectly. I've hired him again to help me complete my kitchen.
Description of Work: Jason completed an addition to my bedroom that I had not been making much progress on. He filled in a large hole in the wall and closed off an existing door. Then he drywalled the whole thing. He also moved some ductwork into the ceiling and framed out a corner section in order to cover a water pipe and gas line. Finally he fixed the door to my crawl space and painted the whole thing.
I would give everyone an excellent across the board. They were courteous and professional. They were on time. They cleaned up well after themselves. They were very meticulous about the quality of the work. He charged us exactly what the bid came out.
Description of Work: They did everything from drywall to finish work. They did leak repairs and a lot of other move-in type work. He did some tiling and he did some electrical work as well. Roofing repairs were also done.

Jason broke ground on August 7, 2007 and completed November 30, 2007. This was fast paced project. All subs used by Jason were highly skilled and professional. Jason performed a significant part of the interior work himself. We had a large crowd at Thanksgiving (even a general contractor from out of state) and every single person was impressed with his work. Jason helped to ensure that we purchased the correct plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and cabinets. This included going to specialty stores with us. Jason will be doing my next upgrade project.
Description of Work: Jason had plans drawn & permits submitted to Pima County for home addition. Jason personally supervised all aspects of construction from concrete, masonry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, windows, interior & exterior doors, insulation, drywall, baseboards, painting, tile in bathroom (tub, shower, sinks & floor),tile on kitchenette floor, carpeting, bathroom fixtures and garage door.
