Called Wolff Mechanical on Friday, 4/16. Asked if service could be setup the following week. When asked when I was available, I informed them that it would need to be either on Wed (4/21) or Thurs (4/22), as these were the only days that I could get off work. Note, that I was scheduled for these days, but as I work two jobs, I work seven days a week. I was told that I was on their schedule, and that their technician would call me when he was on his way. At 3:30pm I still hadn't heard anything, so I called. The receptionist I spoke to (who I believe I spoke to at both times I was in contact with Wolff), was very friendly, and left me with a good impression. She informed me that I was indeed still on their schedule, and I was next to be called. At this point, I took a "patience is a virtue" stance, and decided to wait for the serviceman's call. Fast forward another couple hours and I hadn't heard anything. Sun going down, day over. I call to see if their technicians work after dark, because though annoyed, I'm still sitting here with a non-functional A/C unit. Unfortunately, as it was now 6:00pm, there was no answer and I was transferred to their answering service. This is truly a shame, since I was initially hesitant to call them due to their "Sub-A" rating on Angie's. However, since I saw that most if not all of their responses to bad reports was admitting the fault and apologizing, I had hoped that Wolff had corrected whatever it was that prevented themselves from having a high rating. It's clear to me that they have not. If this is typical of them, I simply don't see how they stay in business.
Description of Work: Services performed were none at all - technician never showed up or made contact.

I have investigated this issue, talked with dispatch, talked with on call tech that you fail to mention that you spoke to and what you said to that tech. I also have recordings of phone calls for training and customer service. We tell you in the first call on 4/16 that we will call when we are on our way out to your home. You called on 4/21 at 3:00 PM your call was scheduled after 3:00 PM. Dispatch called you about 4:00 PM and there was no answer, if no one answers I cannot send a technician all the way to Maricopa especially not on a 3rd party billing. There are still many people who schedule calls and we pay a tech to go out and no one is home, so we have a policy that if you do not answer your phone we do not send a tech out. This is also better for the majority of our customers so they dont have to sit around and wait for the tech to come they get a call and meet us at their house. When you spoke to the on call tech at 6:00 PM you were using phrases that I cant print on this site. This tech would have came right out but you were abusive and hung up on him. In order not to embarrass and show respect for clients I have had to withhold some information in this response. I am sorry that our service did not work out for you but I think you can see by others comments Wolff Mechanical does not just not show up for a scheduled service call. I would be happy to cover the cost of a service call to your home this is a $125.00 value in Maricopa, to make up for any miscommunication issues that took place. I can be reached at Wolff Mechanicals main phone number. Thanks for your time, Lisa Wolff

It's a great company. They can do all the heating and ventilation systems that you have. For me, they have only done some testing. One year, they had to replace a motor blower, but it was a minor job. They call me to remind me when it's time for an appointment.
Description of Work: I have been using them for about three years. They came to do a fall check-up. I have an annual contract with them.

went to their webiste onMonday Dec 7 and made appointment online. They called me within 1 1/2 hours. scheduled it for the next day. Apponitment was for 9:00am and shoed up just after that. Climbed on roof and did his checkup. Said everthing was fine except electrical whip was worn and cracked. Climbed up and confirmed it. Quoted mea prcie and it seemed resonable. Had it replaced. Used this company a couple of years ago and was very satisfied. Repair technican's name was Jim and he did a great job. Good company to do business with.

When we built our house, they did the original work so we?ve always had a contract with them. I have a couple of technicians that I can ask for by name and it can usually be arranged. That way, I already know the person and the person already knows my system. The only thing I've had a problem with is their responsiveness because there has been a little miscommunication.

We are sorry about the delay on your repair it took 3 days for the manufacturer to get your part in. We dont always have control over that when only an OEM part can be used or only an OEM part will keep the manufacturers warranty valid. Most parts we have in stock but every once in a while there is one that we don't stock or we had run out of it and were waiting for the manufacturer to get that part in. Again my apologies for the delay. Thanks for helping us improve. Lisa Wolff

Apparently well intentioned and honest people plagued by poor communication between staff and poor attention to detail. Person who gave bid was on vacation. Workmen arrived unprepared to change out air intake duct as specified in the contract. They did get the right unit installed on the roof, but ran a four foot+ gas pipe under the unit to a flexible pipe attachment, without a hanger. The installers finally got the right sized intake box later on the first day, but after they took off the original intake grill and box and filled my house with dust, they noticed that they couldn't install the new box because the output duct ran right next to it. In my view, it should have been obvious to anyone who knows construction that the output duct was right next to the intake box. They informed me that they weren't going to be able to change the intake out but that they could get a new grill of the same size as the current one. I showed them the contract specifying that this was part of the work that was agreed to for the price quoted. This was apparently the first they had seen the contract specifications. They gave me an invoice with no dollar amount printed on it and suggested that I could just fill in the amount. I refused the invoice and refused to pay until the work was completed according to the contract. They said they would take duct measurements and get back with me. Later that day I received a phone message saying that the installation supervisor was making the "grill". The next business day, I talked with the installation supervisor to ensure that he was not just making a new grill, but that he intended to do what the contract specified. This was apparently news to him and he scheduled an appointment to come out to see the situation. The new duct work and intake box/grill was installed two days later. The estimator/salesman was back and come to help fill out rebate forms. He apologized and said that the mix up wouldn't have happened if he had not been on vacation. I asked if the office staff and the installers had access to the estimate/contract. He said they did and was at a loss to explain how they did not know what work they were supposed to do. He gave me a new invoice, I gave him a check, only to have to redo it when I pointed out that the invoice was $600 less than the contract specified. We reworked the paperwork after he called his office to confirm the mistake, and I was told I would receive a new invoice via email attachment. Now three days later, I have not recieved it. I had previously expressed my concern to the installation manager about the lack of hanger for the gas pipe and he said he would have the installers fix it when they came out. When the installers were about to leave I asked them about it - they didn't know about it and hadn't done it. They installed it. After they left, I found that they had done a marginal job of cleaning up the mess they made - drywall and debris on the carpet and in the bathroom, tufts of insulation and wire outside, white dust on my and my neighbor's sidewalk and yard. When it comes to a technical installation, the customer can only judge the quality of the installation by the other behavior of the technical folks and whether the thing itself initally works. The air conditioner works, but I wonder if their installation was as poor as their communication and attention to detail. While I've used Wolff for a long time for my regular maintenance and repair work, and I believe them to be honest, I cannot recommend them for new unit installation.

In response to this review of the installation that was completed at his home and after speaking to all people involved with this situation; I unfortunately have to admit he has described it correctly. Yes, the system was ordered and installed while the estimator that originally measured and quoted the job was on vacation. However, as the member stated, "Apparently well intentioned and honest people plagued by poor communication between staff and poor attention to detail.".............is what took place. He has gone into great detail to explain his frustrations and quite frankly I do not blame him. I will say this is not "typical" of the type of work we do at Wolff Mechanical. It is "very" rare that we have "any" problems quite frankly. When it rains it pours and this member received more than his share of the rain. The personnel involved with this situation have been made keenly aware of what happened, and more importantly what will be done so this "never" happens again and they are all crystal clear. I feel 100% confident this will never occur again. As he also stated, ".....I've used Wolff for a long time for my regular maintenance and repair, work and I believe then to be honest....." Our apologies. Thank you for "your" honesty!

Excellent regular twice/year service visit by Lance, the technician. We have a difficult to reach roof-top unit, which Lance managed without a problem. He arrived at the early end of the time window Wolff committed to, so I had a shorter wait than I expected. Lance was very courteous and clearly explained the results of his testing of the A/C unit.

It went very well, they were professional and polite from the beginning to the end of the job. Everyone I came in contact with in there company was very courtesy and prompt. The day of installation a team of two came out and one worked in the attic all day "hanging" the air handler and putting all the duct work up in the rafters. I now have more storage room up there, I was very impressed. The other worked on the ground unit and spent time with me to show me how to use the new thermostat. I will recommend these guys to anyone who asks me, they were great.

I called to get a condensation line cleaned out (blown out with compressed air) at my business and specifically asked the price for this job. It is something I have had done before and it is very simple and quick to do. I was quoted $67.00. The repairman came on time and performed the job. I left a check as I had an appointment and had to leave. The serviceman billed us for and extra service charge of $71.00 for a total of $138.05. I had to talk to them numerous times on the phone until they agreed to refund the excess charges. The woman that originally quoted me the price "couldn't remember" our conversation of the day before.

I have had a service contract with Wolff for years. The frozen compressor was discovered during routine maintenance and check-up prior to the start of the A/C season. They could have pushed to replace the compressor or the whole unit instead of trying the capacitor to see if it would solve the problem. They have never attempted to rip me off and have always done competent, timely service.

Called Wolff in the morning at about 8 AM for service on a ten year old A/C unit that had experienced some difficulty the previous day. They sent a technician out about 2 hours later, which was excellent on the response. Turned out that the fan motor needed to be replaced because bearings were worn. Unit was operational, but I didn't want to take the chance that it would fail unexpectedly. Was verbally given a price "of around 400.00 plus 59.00 for the service charge". The work was done in a professional manner. Was surprised when presented with an invoice for $546.00 which I thought was excessive. The experience dampened my impression of Wolff mechanical in spite of all that went right with the experience. I would not hesitate to use them in the future if it were not for the feeling of being overcharged.

WOLFF MECHANICAL IS CONTACTING HIM REGARDING THIS CHARGE. APPARENTLY THE TECH ORIGINALLY QUOTED A FIGURE OF ABOUT $400. WHICH WAS IN ACCURATE HE DID NOT LOOK AT HIS PRICE BOOK. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN $478. PLUS A DIAGNOSTIC OF $59. SO HE WAS CHARGED THE CORRECT PRICE ALTHOUGH IT IS OUR POLICY THAT TECHS QUOTE ACTUAL PRICES OUT OF THEIR BOOKS PRIOR TO DOING REPAIRS, THIS TECH DID NOT FOLLOW PROCEDURE. WE ARE CURRENTLY REFUNDING HIM THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT HE WAS CHARGED AND WHAT HE WAS QUOTED. OUR TECH MADE A MISTAKE AND WE STAND BEHIND THE PRICE HE GAVE THE CUSTOMER IN THE FIRST PLACE SO THE CUSTOMER IS RECEIVING A REFUND. I JUST WOULD HAVE LIKED HIM TO CONTACT ME AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENED AND I COULD HAVE FIXED IT SOONER.

It's the 3rd of July and the air conditioner went out - blowing hot air. Doug came on time and filled with coolant and we are cool again. Great service and friendly staff from answering phone to tech (Doug) that performed service. I never thought I would get someone out the day before the holiday to fix it and thought it would be a costly repair - but it was quick and a great price. Thank you Wolff Mechanical for the great customer service and speedy work - you made my holiday.

I have been a customer for several years and purchase the annual ESA (Energy Savings Agreement) package for $125.00 per house. Two of the major benefits include a 15% discount on parts and priority scheduling. Wolff Mechanical has always lived up to the terms of the ESA agreement and has consistently provided excellent service. The front office (I believe Lisa Wolff) is responsive, courteous and aims to please. The only gripe I have had was when the job is complete the invoice just shows a flat rate for the parts & labor. If the company is going to use the 15% discount on parts as a selling point for the ESA they should break it down on the invoice so that the customer at least sees the value of paying for an annual service agreement. I also feel that the part manufacturer's name and serial # of the parts should be included on the invoice. I spoke with Lisa about this and she felt that I had a valid point. The job was completed to my satisfaction.

A very disappointing experience!! First technician refused to go up on roof of 2-story townhouse, which admittedly was not a routine climb a ladder situation. The design required climbing up to a balcony on a ladder and then pulling up the ladder to position it to reach the flat roof. Two others had done it recently--the home inspector and original installer of the HVAC--without difficulty. Wolff sent their best man--Jeff--at the end of the day. he had no problem climbing to the roof and inspecting the A/C. However, the dispatcher did not tell him to bring the special pleated filters requested. Rather than try to schedule a re-visit, I went to ACE Hardware, bought the filters and replaced them myself. Jeff did a good job as far as inspecting the A/C, but the whole experience was stressful and inefficient.

It was a good experience. Angie's list recommendations were very helpful in finding a company, especially considering the large number of companies in the Yellow Pages. A technician was on a call in the vicinity when I contacted the company, and we were scheduled to be next call for that technician. The technician showed in about an hour and was knowledgeable and personable. The replacement fan motor was in-stock in his truck, and the work was completed within two hours of the original call.
Description of Work: They diagnosed the heating problem (unit was staying in defrost mode, and fan motor was working intermittently), replaced the fan motor, and ensured that the 15-year-old Rheem A/C unit was operational. They suggested that the control board might need replacement but did NOT push to have that done if not necessary. They also indicated that future maintenance on contacts would be useful, and that major problems (such as replacing the compressor) might warrant purchase of a new unit but did not push to replace the unit at this time.

In the middle of the summer, my A/C stopped working. It kept freezing over and we would be forced to turn it off and let it defrost before we turned it on again. Going without an A/C for even a few hours in AZ in July with a 4 month old is impossible. Naturally we needed to get it fixed but were concerned about the cost. Even given the time of year and increased demand, Wolff was able to send someone within 36 hours (quicker then anyone we called). Not only did they have a quick response, but the serviceman found it to be only a small leak, patched it and refilled our freon (costing us only $300 for the service call and a few pounds of freon)

The sales person was very helpful and knew his business. Both crews had the knowledge and expertise needed to complete the job. Price was about $4000 less than the other estimate for the exact same units (from a highly recommended contractor), although we are repeat customers. Couldn't recomend them more. The new systems are quiet and the temperature is very even. We will see about the $ savings over the next year cycle.
Description of Work: We had our two 14 year old AC and Heating systems (12 seer) replaced with very high efficiency units (17+ seer). Wolf had installed the old systems in our new custom built home. They were the ones who did minimal mantinance when needed and always provided good service. Two crews worked side by side and installed both in one day. Cleaned up and were always pleasant. One small glitch was fixed after two followup visits.

They came out soon and were very nice. He charged $115 to put in one pound of freon. They only charged $59 for the service, but the charge for the freon was exorbitant! All he did was put the bottle on with a hose. I wouldn't recommend them to my dog! Their price was completely unreasonable
Description of Work: They came out to check out a/c.
