Goettl Air Conditioning

The tech was excellent and knowledgable, but clearly had been trained in sales and upselling services. Not a crime but a little disingenuous. I would urge anyone to secure two or three estimates before deciding. If you need same day services or free financing, then this may be a good option.

I am very dissatisfied with this company. They came out to perform a tune up and didn't explain there was a leak in the Freon only mentioned it was low. Now we find there was and is a leak and the Freon is low once again. Their pricing is very high and they only did a temporary fix knowing they will be back again and can run us dry of more of our money.

I have a maintenance contract with them for $500. They are going come back and clean the coil in the thermostat next. My overall experience with them was good. I don’t have anything to compare the price with. The quality of work is fine.

The visit went well. Josh was very professional and didn't mind explaining in detail the things that he was doing while I was on the roof. The elderly are so badly taken advantage of in this area, and it would have been impossible for my Mom to go on the roof, so it's nice to know that they are honest.

.They ripped me off. They price was way too high. My condo was only 900 square foot and they installed the lowest seer possible.

I was disappointed in the exhorberent sales price, strategy and sales strategy. I would avoid Goettl based on this experience.

Air condition unit shut off when I arrived home and then stayed off until coming back on later in evening. I had one repair tech come out after it had come back on the previous night. He checked things outside, but did not go into the attic to look at the air handler component, couldn't figure out why it happened, but assumed it was just a glitch. Then it happened again. I was furious.The next service tech came out and he was wonderful. Not only did he think through the problem logistically, he checked all parts of the system and was able to figure out what had gone wrong. He explained it in simple terms after he had fixed the problem. He also was very professional in using booties when in my home. Most impressively, he realized that the problem I had was a result of how the company can install the product and he will be talking with them to make sure the company changes their procedures to install item a specific way so that the service techs will understand what to do when this happens to other people. So while I was not so happy with the first service tech, the second one was very good and I would recommend the company because of this guy's thoroughness.

They wouldn't honor their quote, so I did not place the order.

One of their technicians arrived to do the semiannual maintenance inspection on my heat pump. He went up on the roof to do the work and came back down about 20 minutes later. When I answered the door, I found he had been joined by his "field supervisor" and they proceeded to tell me that my compressor was "over-amping" and that if it was measuring like this on a day when it was only about 95 degrees, then it would certainly fail when we started to get 110 degree days. They said I needed a new compressor (about $2,000) and that I should really consider a new unit (anywhere from $6,000-$9,000). When I resisted both of those suggestions they suggested some type of temporary protection package for the compressor (it sounded like some kind of thick lubricant) as a "band aid" measure for about $400. I declined all of their suggestions, paid them for the inspection and then scheduled two other inspections of the unit by two different companies (neither company was told beforehand of Goettl's "recommendations"). Neither company found evidence of any problems and both said the unit was in very good shape for its age (about 13 years old at that time). After each company had completed their inspection and given the unit a clean bill of health, I told them what had been reported to me by Goettl, and both companies said it appeared they were trying to sell me a new unit that was not needed. After that I severed my relationship with Goettl and told them the reason why. They could not explain the discrepancy between their technicians' findings and the other companies' findings but said it was not their practice to recommend work that was not needed. I told them that quite frankly I did not believe them but that if they did indeed have two "rogue" technicians then they should deal with them as it could cause serious damage to Goettl's reputation. They said they would look into the matter and speak with the technicians but I never heard back from them. Since that time I have used one of the two companies that I called to do a followup inspection, and have been extremely pleased with their work (see my report for Wahl Air Conditioning). I delayed writing this report out of fairness - I wanted to let some time pass to see if the unit might indeed fail in the near future. It has now been through two Phoenix summers and a number of days of 110+ degree weather. The unit did cease working in late July 2010 and I thought I might indeed be replacing the unit. However, I was very relieved when my current company diagnosed the problem as a bad "run cap" and a defective "cutout switch" and told me the total cost of those repairs was only $263. Other than that my only cost been for the semiannual maintenance inspections (which are about $25 cheaper than what Goettl charged). The bottom line is that I will never use Goettl again and have warned a number of friends about them based on my experience.

Although I was not happy with the service I received from Goettl AC, the service technician who came out was very polite and professional and my issue is more with the way he was trained. I do not like the company philosophy of offering a plethora of services (duct cleaning, service contract etc.) and extras and charging an exorbitant price ($13K). After I told the service tech. that I did not like sales pitches he proceeded to waste over an hour of my time in a house close to 90 degrees telling me all about the company reputation and all the extras they offered. Not until I pressed him did he give me the exorbitant price of $13,000 for a new unit and then told me there was some wiggle room if I talked to his general manager. I didn't talk to his GM, but I did join Angie's list, found Scottsdale Air based on their high ratings, and had a new unit installed at a fair price with great sales and technical service.

They were referred to me by my friend. They were extremely professional, clean and informative. They were great to work with and I would highly recommend them. They were very responsive and punctual. They are really great people to rely on.

They gave me a $350 quote for a new filter on my new air conditioner that they said should be done once a year. They gave me an $800 quote on a leaking vent and work that needed to be done on the water heater. Another A/C company that I asked for a quote on the filter, quoted me $175 for the same filter. I called APS (water, gas, and electricity) to evaluate my water heater and vents. They said there was nothing wrong with my water heater whatsoever. They sent a man out for $25 to put a shielding over a small leak in the vent. This company too expensive and look for things that don't need to be done.

The crew of two arrived near the appointed time but did not have all the tools they need to do the job. They were missing a ladder (which I provided), and a hand truck to transport the A/C unit from their trailer to the side of the house (and to haul away the old unit). One of the two left to get a hand truck form another team and was gone for hours, leaving the other guy, a new employee and inexperienced, to work by himself. They were later missing a coolant gauge unit and the same guy left, again for hours. What would have taken 7-8 hours took well over ten, which was most uncomfortable for them, as it was quite hot outside and in the garage, where the furnace was located. The salesman had also mismeasured the furnace location, and they had an extra part that made the new furnace too tall for the garage. After scratching their heads for a while, they removed the extra part (a filter holder) and the furnace (barely) fit. Eventually, they finished and left, only to return later to add a part they had inadvertently left off, and to seal some gaps they had created during the installation. The technician at our house all day said the company was going through reorganization and had a new corporate parent company, and had been in financial straits, all of which made us a little nervous since we had just hired them to install and maintain a unit that we should have for twenty plus years. As the new equipment qualified for a rebate from APS, we were to receive paperwork for the rebate from Goettl. That took several calls and two visits to the Goettl shop in Tempe to get the rebate paperwork. I believe this was due to the fact our salesman had left the company after selling us the A/C unit. Ultimately the equipment works, but the hassles surrounding the installation would make me think twice about using them again.

They did a good job. Three days after I had it put in, I was sent a $1300 rebate which they said I could not claim because I didn't submit it before the installation.

Plumbing co serviceman arrived, received co-pay ($55) then stated not covered by warranty, offered replacement for $3000.00! Plumbing co knew water softener not covered before sending service man, but did anyway to collect co-pay and attempt to sell greatly over priced replacement unit(Unit replaced by another co for 858-not 3000!)

Goettl Air Conditioning was professional and fair. They arrived on time and were very helpful and let me know just what needed done. They worked quickly and cleaned up after they were done.

I am pleased with them. They did just fine with everything. They have also installed a system for us before and were okay then as well. I have like a maintenance contract with them. They come out every spring and fall to check things over. It gets really hot here and they seem to work out good for us. I would not give glowing praise about them though because they are just okay. There is really nothing noticeably that good about them.

I had worked with this company before for some commercial work. When I found out they did residential work as well, I decided to call them for this. They did a great job, even helping me with my swamp cooler as well. I have saved money on my electric bill because of the efficiency of the new unit. They are a little higher priced than some others, but they are worth it.

They charged to much and they were constantly telling me I had broken parts that I had to replace. I knew that there was nothing wrong because I called in a second opinion. There for I think they are dishonest and just out to make extra money. I am not pleased with them and I would not recommend them to other people.

We have been using them for years and they are very good. They are reliable and answer all of our questions. Everyone that works there is knowledgeable and trustworthy. They have reasonable prices and are personable when they come out. I would recommend them to anyone.

They were very prompt. They came when they said they would, and were courteous. The first time they did the work they thought they had it cleared, but it continued to leak. They came out the next morning, at no additional charge, and fixed the problem. I was very satisfied with them.

Their service people are of a high quality. They show up on time and do a good job. They clean up after they are done.

I was very please with their honesty. They could have easily told me I needed a new compressor, and I would have bought it.

CALLED ANOTHER FIRM FOR A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE A CONNECTING WIRE WAS LOOSE AND THAT I HAD A BAD STARTER. WIRE WAS TIGHTENED, STARTER REPLACED AND THE UNIT WORKS WELL. INDICATIONS WERE THAT THE GOETTL TECH NEVER BOTHERED TO CHECK THE OBVIOUS. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING.
