Goettl Air Conditioning

Please avoid this company. The two guys who came to unclog my bathroom sink. 1 of them who did all the talking had a very bad attitude and after waiting 10 minutes for an estimate he wanted $326 to unclog the bathroom sink. 18 months ago I used this same company and they charged me $80 for unclogging the same bathroom sink. This guy tried to rip me off. Had to tell them both to get off my property. Also reporting them to BBB. If you want to get ripped off then go ahead and use them.

**Update 7/1: Yunior from Goettl was sent this morning to do what Goettl should have done in the first place over a week ago without me having to escalate to this level (including to the BBB), which is install the hard start free of charge. Yunior did a great and efficient job, as Derrick did as well doing the initial service - in no way is/was this a concern with the techs themselves, as they are just the messengers. I truly hope this is the end to these types of issues with them moving forward.**

I had them install a water softener and tankless heater a little while back, during the install they broke some gym equipment rather than moving it. It was easily movable and I had told them beforehand to come get me if they needed anything moved as I was home during the install As an offer to make things "better" they put us on some kind of protection/service plan. We used this to get our AC checked before it got hot for summer. Their technician told us everything was ok. Our AC just died in the middle of the night and when I called them about it, they said they wouldn't be able to look at it for several days. Awful company with awful technicians and awful customer service. Stay far away.

They were very professional. They were timely in their service. They did a good job.

I called Goettl and asked them to come look at my AC unit as it was completely down. While on the phone they signed me up for their maintenance contract in which they said I was under no obligation and could cancel at any time. They came out fast which was great and the service tech did his thing and soon left. A Goettl salesman showed up to discuss cost of their replacement units. He gave me payment plans for four different units which I found odd vs a total final installation price as I was paying in full with no financing through Goettl. I explained I wanted a final price "Quote" not a payment plan. It took a bit, but he finally gave me a number on a 3.5 ton unit, however not in writing. This bothered me, It made me feel like I was buying an air conditioning unit from a car salesman. I backed off from any deals we discussed and told the him I was getting a second quote in about 60 minutes in which their salesman then told me they have "wiggle" room. This was hardly my concern. Incidentally the second contractor came in $2000 cheaper then Geottl. Now the actual problem I have with Goettl is not their price. It's the fact that when I later called to cancel their maintenance contract, their representative told me I have to keep it for one year. They said it was a verbal contract which I informed him never happened. The representative told me they record their calls. I said fine, provide me with a copy of that conversation and I will gladly pay. The representative refused to do so, stating they don't share those. During this conversation he made several attempts to talk me into having their techs come out to service my unit. I refused his persistent offering several times to the point of getting angry telling him I do not want them to touch this unit period EVER! I added I will even pay their year contract and they do not have to do a thing. (This will serve me as a lesson and a reminder never to do business with them in the future again over a 14.95 mo bill). If their billing goes beyond that year, I have a real recording of our conversation and Goettl can listen to it in a court of law. Your word is what defines you in life.

They have been great. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely use them again.

As a free promotion to advertise their new plumbing service, a young man, Matthew, came out, cleaned out 2 drains. He’ll fit in well at Goettl; he was as conscientious, quietly confident, knowledgeable & affable as all other Goettl service providers we’ve used!

I was quoted over the phone that the price would be $1800 to install a $120 fan with four screws. I said that I would refer this to the attorney generals office which I did they brought the price down to $865 to install a $120 fan.

It went great! Goettl has been our go – two air-conditioner service or 10 years. We eventually bought two new heat pumps from them, they cleaned our ducts, installed electronic filters, And you are all our maintenance and repairs. They’ve honored a warranty. The guys are very pleasant and businesslike. Their professional.

He did fantastic and our bill has went down over $50. They were patient with us and they did everything we asked them to do. It was more expensive than we expected, and they got us financing right off the back, they gave us a large discount from some old promotions they had and they honored it. They did a lot for us.

The service was good and the price was reasonable. I'd use them again if I still lived in Arizona.

Goettl Air fit us in when our A/C broke down during a record heat wave. Despite being crazy busy, they made it out during with appointment window and gave us notice via phone when they were on their way. The technician Mark was very knowledgeable and thorough. He made sure after replacing the part to re-check the entire system and even went into duct work in attic to ensure all was working properly. Very happy with the service!

We have a contract with Goettl. They are phenomenal. They are wonderful across the board, so you can give them an A for everything. I just was so pleased with them. We have a monthly contract with them and our contract is $25 or $29 a month. I use them for anything air conditioning and heating.

They make sure everything is operating properly. They come at least once a year. I believe I have originally gotten them through Angie's List but it was in 2010. I'm not positive - I don't remember that far back. The service call was included. The air conditioning units originally I guess I may have overpaid, but their service has been good, and apparently I paid for the service, a ten year warranty is included, so that may be why I paid more for the air conditioners. The worker was very professional, excellent, and very polite. They put on those little booties before they come in your house, and they're very knowledgeable. I bought the air conditioners from them and I've been using them ever since.

Great. I was in a rental and using the heater for the first time and it wasn't working. They came on time as promised, told me what they were going to check, diagnosed a missing part quickly and made the repair. The tech was very neat, cleaned up and followed up a few days later to make sure all was taken care of!

Goettl is fine. Didn't you hear the commercial on the radio, "We give you a free flashlight"? No? Well, they do. They give you a free flashlight, a Goettl flashlight. He made sure it worked efficiently. He checked everything. Wherever there wasn't a screw, he pointed out, holding the guts and all that stuff. He put a Goettl screw in there so they know it was their screw that was installed in the unit. And they had to send several pictures over to headquarters to tell them, "This is what we do. This is what it looks like." And supposedly the chief looks at it and says, "Well, yeah, do this, do that. Okay. It's fine." And the guy stayed here by three hours, explaining everything. And he sold us a contract because we thought it was pretty cool. They're gonna come on Monday to do the furnace though. Whatever the top is rating is. I'm very happy with them. Everything is cool.

They offer a 3 year program where they come twice a year to clean and update. On the first visit I had a major work done due to condensation and I have the remaining 3 years. The service person they sent was very knowledgable, everything on the truck to repair and offered the 3 year deal to save some money. Everything was done price wise before the work so I knew what it was going to cost. They were very upfront about that, knowledable about my system and did a good job. I think they are slightly more expensive then the regular guys going around but they are very well trained. They do high level background checks on their guys so I felt comfortable having them in our house, no felons or anything. My AC is relatively new and did not look like it was installed correctly and it looks so much better now. It looks like he added a part to the front so it wont leak. It looks a lot better and cleaner. He got into parts the original installer never opened up. They were very responsive. I called them, they did their best for an appointment, it took a few days but it is super duper hot here. They got here in a timely manner. They called me several times to let me know he would be late because he was working on a bigger unit. They called me right before he came too. Now that I am in the system, the time response is preferred. They respond more quickly to people in the plan vs someone who is a one time use. He did come late but it was because the prior person had more serious problems, but they notified me and I was ok with it.

STAY AWAY from this company. Spent over $8,000 on AC unit with variable speed fan. 1st installer lied and didn't install variable speed fan. 2nd installer still missed attaching all duct work. Now 4 years later the AC quit working and they want to charge $79 for service fee and not show up for 2 more days. Unit sold with 10 year warranty for all parts and service. RIP OFF, OVER PRICED and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I was not happy with what they did. I had to replace the system a few months later. I did not like how they were just trying to sell me a service agreement.

My AC unit has been blowing a little warmer than usual the last couple weeks so I decided to call Goettl and have them come see what was going on. The tech came out in the morning and did a full maintenance check and let me know everything was fine except the Freon was low. He didn't find any leaks so he filled it up, tested the system and everything worked perfect again!

Six years ago, we had a new heat pump installed on our house by Goettll. We chose a Goodman heat pump which came with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. I did research on line and from the information I found, Goodman seemed to produce a quality product. I have a health condition, MS, which makes me extremely sensitive to heat so having a dependable, functioning heat pump is not a luxury for me, it's a necessity, especially with the extreme heat a Phoenix summer brings. Goettl was aware of my health problem and they always got a technician out to me the same day I reported a problem. Once, when it took a couple of days to get a needed part, they brought out a free standing portable unit which did an adequate job of cooling a couple of rooms. During the first two years, the heat pump was blowing a lot of capacitors. Living in Phoenix AZ, with the extreme heat we get, it's not unusual for a heat pump to go through more capacitors than it would in other parts of the country but this particular unit seemed to be going through more than was usual. The problem was finally diagnosed as a faulty compressor which was replaced under the warranty. Two years later, the unit developed a leak in the coil and that had to be replaced, again under the original warranty. Fast forward another two years when the fan had to be replaced, then it needed another compressor. This year, I had a Goettl technician come out to do a check up on the unit to try to make it through this summer without any problems. It checked out fine. 5 days later the condenser fan motor failed and needed to be replaced, then, 7 days later, the reversal valve failed and had to be replaced. All in all, in the first 6 years, this unit needed 23 service calls, not counting the routine maintenance calls. The only company that touched this unit since it's installation was Goettl so, I decided to see if I could get in touch with the CEO of Goettl, , Dan Burke. I was put right through to Mr Burke and when I explained the maintenance issues I had had with this unit, he said he would look into it and call me back. Approx 2 hours later, Greg Akers, Goettl's Director of operations called me and asked if he could bring out a Goodman Factory Rep. and a technician to look at the unit. Everybody at Goettl agreed that the unit broke down excessively. Being somewhat cynical about corporations, I fully expected to hear that all they would do was honor the warranty and repair the machine when needed and, Goettl had always repaired the unit in a timely manner so, while it wasn't the outcome I wanted, it was the outcome I expected. the following Monday, right on time, Mr. Akers, a Goodman factory Rep, and a Goettl technician arrived at my house, looked at the repair invoices I had, listened to my experience, and frustration with the unit, and went up on the roof to check the unit out. They came down, and basically surprised the h*** out of me by saying that the heat pump I had was a lemon and told me they were going to replace it at no charge. Three days later, I had a new heat pump on my house. I don't fault Goodman for this because any company can, and does turn out a lemon once in awhile and when Goodman found out about my issues, they stood behind their product and did, in my opinion, the right thing. I wish I had talked to Mr. Burke earlier. In my opinion, Mr.Burke, Mr Akers and Goettl have earned their title of "Good Guys" This is not the Same Goettl that got all the bad press a few years ago. Mr Burke has definitely turned this company around to the point I would recommend them to anybody

Guess what it didn't work.

They said my outdoor coils were bad and that they were not warrantied. I got 7 new quotes for a new unit, and Goettel's was the highest. I contacted Trane myself and found out that the coils were in fact warrantied. Then Goettel told me oops, it's the indoor coils and that I would need a new unit. I called a different Trane service provider who went and looked, and found it was not the coil at all. They said their was absolutely no evidence of the coil being bad. Normally there are some black streaks to indicate the problem. It was clean. Turns out, it was the motor and computer board. They fixed it in about an hour for $1,600.00. While all of this went on, I got the run around from customer service, no returned calls, etc. I fully beleive that they wanted to sell a new unit before the end of the year, and I came really close to falling for it. I cancelled my service contract immediately.

Seeking to find a more energy efficient air conditioning unit, we replaced our original 1978 a/c unit in 2009 with Goettl. I had gone to grade school with a couple of the Goettl kids and their longevity and reputation in the Phoenix area were the main reasons I considered them honest and trust worthy. That, and a guarantee that we would be put up in a hotel of our choice if the a/c EVER had a problem. In June of 2013 we needed to test that guarantee. It took HOURS to even reach a company representative while my household slowly baked. In fact, the afternoon reached mid evening before we were even called back. I was told it was impossible to send anyone to even look at it until the next morning. So much for the hotel stay.....the rep that called had never heard of it. A call from management the next day stating that since we had dropped the "free service agreement" (which BTW, Goettl always found something going bad and cost us about 300 bucks every time they came) then the free hotel guarantee was void. SURPRISE! A repair man did not arrive until approximately 26 hours after the intial problem on the hottest day of the year yet. This is a Phoenicians worst nightmare scenario because you can not live in a house that is not cooled in any way in the summer! This is a very unethical business that will price gouge you in a blink of an eye. The free service agreement is not valid. High pressure sales techniques WILL be used on you.

I used them last year for a pre-summer A/C checkup. They said that I had already paid for a check-up last year for this summer and they called me to set up a date this year to do the same service. They rescheduled the first appointment, and we set up another appointment. Then they were 3 hours late to the second appointment. They were misleading - no charge/free inspection, but they ended up charging me $287 this time. Additionally, they used extremely high pressure - they wanted me to take out a new agreement I didn't want to.
