Description of Work: We had tile laid through the majority of our home and carpet in the bedrooms. |We also had a tile backsplash installed. I can't say enough good things about this whole experience. Steve came out for our initial consultation and helped guide us through options. He ordered the products and made arrangements for installation. He and the crew promptly arrived at the arranged time and got to work. They work like a well oiled machine. Description of Work: I am not sure whether or not I would use this provider in the future. The floor looks very nice and I believe the installation was well done. However, I was not happy with the fact that the billing did not show the actual cost of the tile as well as the cost of installation. It just had a flat amount. I was told I was given a 10% Angie's List discount but I have no way of verifying that. When I told them I would have liked this breakdown, I was told that they never do that. So if you want that information,I don't think this company is for you.

We always try to provide a breakdown of costs when requested, but the standard contractor's invoice form that we've used for years doesn't have a line-item cost like you might find if you were just buying a product retail. It's actually very common within our industry to contract on the type of forms that we use, as it helps us to detail labor instructions and other things. For any prospective clients, we're always happy to run you through the numbers during the bidding process and even after, if necessary. Description of Work: The contracotrs who laid our terra cotta tiles were wonderful, the guy who came to seal the floor was good. There were several micommunications with Bruce, however, that made our experience regrettable.

Hi [Member name removed], We're sorry that you felt communication was lacking. While we're always grateful for feedback to see what we can do better, the two issues in question we do feel were communicated clearly. The first being the amount of time that needed to be waited for the saltillo floor tiles to be sealed is 14 days, per manufacturer instructions. It was communicated verbally multiple times, as well as noted on the invoice you received at the time of authorizing work. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything more we could have done in that case. For the second issue, which was finding another layer of flooring underneath the floor tiles we removed prior to the installation of the new saltillo floors, we always understand that customers don't like extra charges after the initial quote. We try very hard to keep them to a bare minimum, and most jobs we have don't have any additional charges after work has started. However, when there is a hidden, pre-existing issue with the condition of the house (in this case heavy duty old vinyl tiles that had we come up, along with removing the old adhesive), that is a legitimate charge. Since we couldn't see it, we couldn't quote it for you. In these situations, we simply look to cover our labor costs. We're sorry we couldn't see eye to eye on this point, but that is standard practice in our industry. If you'd like to go over anything with us in more detail again, we're happy to do so!

Steve Campbell met with me in early Oct. to measure my home and show samples and provide me with an estimate as to how much it would cost to re-carpet my home.(living room, hallway, and 3 bedrooms) He arrived exactly on time and was very professional. After viewing his samples and describing to him what I was interested in, he provided me with an estimate. Well we ended up with a slight impass. I was very set as to the color that I wished to have and his price was very similar to the other estimates I had recieved.I thanked him for his time and he told me not to give up on him just yet. I agreed. After a couple of days he phoned me and told me that he had found something that he thought might interest me.We met and this time he had found for me the exact color and thickness that I had requested. He actually took the time to understand what I really wanted and went out and found it. And to top it off he was able to get me a better price than before. I was thrilled. On the day of the install, the carpet installers were right on time and started to work immediately removing the old carpet (it had been here for 40 years) and cleaning the floor. The pad that I had chosen was installed then my beautiful new carpet was laid. They were extremely efficient and you could see that they were very experienced. Any questions that I had were answered immediately and thoroughly. They did not even take a break or lunch until the job was completed. Steve also came by that day to make sure all was to my satisfaction. I would have to say with all honesty that this company treated me very very well and I would highly recommend them to anybody and everybody.

Steve did a fantastic job for us from start to finish! He was always punctual, and his crew of installers were also punctual! We had him come out twice to bring samples before selecting a carpet, and he did not try to hard sell us on any particular carpet, from the low cost ones to the higher priced ones. I would use him again for carpet!

Tile removal - one of the workers cut himself on the job and left a stream of blood in the sink (never cleaned up even though reported the next morning). Front door was broken in the process - it was difficult to close after the tile removal was completed. Cigarettes extingushed with black marks on the driveway and butts left. Secondary window panel left off. Floor installers - half eaten pizza left on the counter after the workers had left for the day. A child's drawling left on the counter was turned over and was drawn on the back. Ran out of product and delayed install by two days. But the most disturbing incident by far was the workers (yes they admitted to doing this) took out the pellet guns from a closet - drew a target on a box from our home and shot the pellet guns. One gun was broken and is going to be replaced by the company. Overall flooring is fine but the professionalism presented by this company in the sales portion of the meeting was not what was received. Company was made aware of the incidences - gun will be replaced and door is to be fixed. Requested a discount due to conduct of the installers and basically told these were not major things and the gun is being replaced so all should be well.

I would like to take a moment and address this unfortunate negative review we've received. I think that most fair-minded people realize that there are two sides to every story. This customer's feedback contains some misinformation and omits her attempt to extort our business for over $1000 in free labor. First, our tear-out crew does not smoke. Cigarette butts at the curb can be thrown by anybody walking by, but they most certainly are not left by non-smokers. Second, our installers never made the drawing they are being accused of. They did unfortunately use the air rifle a few times, which we find to be completely unacceptable, and the matter has been resolved internally. We have offered on several occasions to buy the used rifle and replace it with a brand new equivalent one, since the customer accused us of breaking the other one. We have yet to be taken up on the offer. Also, one member of our tear-out crew was cut on his forehead by a tile chip, and missed cleaning up a very small amount of blood. When we were made aware of the issue, it sounded as if the customer had already cleaned it, or else we would have been back that day to clean it up. Our installers are not perfect, but they are generally very good about leaving the job in at least as good a condition as when we arrive. To address the issue of running short on laminate. That is also false. We found four cartons of laminate to have minor damage to the planks, most likely from the freight company. It unfortunately happens from time to time in our line of work that product has damage to it. Rather than trying to get away with installing subpar material, we had replacement cartons overnighted into the valley in order to finish the job as quickly as possible. The customer was made aware the moment the damage was found, and the job was completed the day the replacement product arrived. The customer was informed at every step as to what we were doing on our end to get the job completed. What the customer does not mention, was that after almost three weeks of emails and follow-up calls being almost entirely ignored to collect the balance, the reason for these allegations (some true, some false) came out. She said that in order to "protect our reputation" as a company, she wanted us to install all new baseboards throughout the home for free. This was over $1000 in free labor to resolve an overlooked piece of pizza left on the counter, and a small bit of blood missed in a sink. When we told her that was unreasonable and we would not be extorted, she threatened to ruin our reputation wherever she could. Obviously one of those places is Angie's List. We have built our business on, and take pride in the reputation that we've earned in over 30 years of serving the valley. Our business is built almost entirely upon referrals, and would have been out of business long ago if this was the way we ran our business. We have zero complaints on our business license with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and simply try to do our very best to keep our customers happy and take care of them. We do not look kindly, however, on extortion attempts. You now have both sides of the story and I hope that helps any prospective customers make the best decision possible when selecting a contractor for your next flooring project. I was very impressed. Steve came out with samples of very affordable but decent quality rental grade carpet and did not try to up-sell me when I made it clear I was only interested in inexpensive carpet, which was very nice. The installation crew spent a full day cleaning the floors, filling cracks in the concrete, and installing the pad and carpet. The end result is a very nice looking house, and Steve came out afterward to do a walk-through and ensure the work and the carpet was up to par. A very satisfactory experience and good product for the price - I'll likely go to Discount Floors when we put carpet in our house also.

We had an excellent experience with Discount Floors. We shopped around...A LOT. So when Steve came in with his incredible pricing, we knew we would be getting a great deal. He was able to provide the carpet and pad we had selected at a much better price than we had found elsewhere (over 25% less than his competition...for the same product!). We were debating on different types of carpet for the basement and kids rooms, and he pointed us in the right direction for that, too. He was able to provide a very soft, luxurious, high end product for a fraction of the price. Installation was completed earlier than expected, and they did a great job. The carpet looks and feels amazing. I would highly recommend at least getting an estimate from this company.
